Who's in for healthy weight loss in 2012?

I'm sat here piling on the pounds over Christmas, not quite having lost those I gained last year!

It's got to the point where it's now or never - DH and I are TTC #2, so I have to get to a healthy weight to give us the best possible chance, which is motivation in itself. I need to lose about half a stone to get into my healthy weight range, but ideally would like to lose another stone on top of that.

I've half-arsedly tried Weight Watchers and Paul McKenna over the last year, and if I gave it a decent shot, either of those would help. The main thing I'm going to do to kick start the weight loss though, is make a new year's resolution to cut right back on junk food, which is my weakness. Basically, if it's not something nutritious, or if there's a healthier alternative, I'm going to try to give it a miss!

Having cancelled my gym membership last year, I joined a running club instead and will be going out with them once a week, and once with my DM. I have a kettlebell and DVD at home, http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kettlercise-Just-Women-PLUS-Kettlebell/dp/B0053YNSDY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1325074972&sr=8-1 this one, and will continue to use that twice a week. I'll also be going to a PAYG spinning class once a week, and maybe the odd Kettlercise class to vary the routine on the DVD a bit.

So, anybody interested in joining me? I'm not sure whether to go for it immediately from 1st January, or to wait until the 3rd (I have parties to go to on Sunday and Monday, so might be setting myself up for failure). That said, it would be a real buzz to manage a couple of social occasions straight away - they're usually another downfall for me!

Take care and look after yourself fazsaeed.

So far I've had a good day, porridge for breakfast, chicken and grilled mushrooms for lunch and I'm just after a LF yogurt coz I was felling a bit peckish. Dinnet will be something with prawns, i have soom which need used up, prob just a salad.

The weekend has flown in, can't believe it's Monday tomoworrow already!

CupOfBrownJoy · 05/02/2012 15:27

Ok I've got the offer of a coffee and a piece of cake - DP's having one in about 15 mins, when he's on his break.

Do I treat myself, or do I have the 60 cal choc dessert that I've got in the fridge, and be good?

Hathall · 05/02/2012 15:28

Vicky how was the buffet?

Fazsaeed hope you manage to sort things out. It must be horrible for you.

Sparky cant believe your heating has gone again. What a pain!

I've just shredded and it was such an ordeal today! I found it very difficult but glad I've done it.

Hathall · 05/02/2012 15:30

Cup be good! You'll feel so happy later and won't be annoyed with yourself. Or have the cake and do some exercise or cut back tomorrow.

Vicky08 · 05/02/2012 15:37

CupOfBrownJoy If it were me I'd just have the coke, but then I am slighly addicted to the stuff and still have a can little most days. As Hathall said have a little and then do exercise to compensate.

Hathall I wasn't at a buffet, it must have been someone else. I'm the same about the shred, it takes so much out of me at the time but afterwards I'm always so happy. I haven't been doing much exercise this week because I have a really bad cough but hoping to get back into it soon.

Do you think coughing burns off many calories? :)

CupOfBrownJoy · 05/02/2012 15:38

coughing definitely tones your stomach muscles Vicky Smile

Hathall · 05/02/2012 16:05

Sorry Vicky! It was Flojo going to a buffet. I'm having a mad moment of delirium. Blame Shredding when tired! Smile

Vicky08 · 05/02/2012 16:06

Yes, cup, this week I feel as if I've been doing 100 sit ups a day, they've been really hurting - silver lining and all that :)

Fairenuff · 05/02/2012 16:27

I do wonder if all the snot and mucus (eew, sorry folks) adds to the weight though! My head feels twice as heavy as usual Confused Grin.

Sparky I used to drink quite a lot, especially at weekends. It really held me back when I tried to lose weight. Now I'm not having any at all. It's all empty calories and I tend to nibble if I drink. Lime and soda with ice and a slice of lemon is a lovely refreshing drink which I sometimes have instead of wine.

Vicky I agree this week seems to have flown by. Weigh in day for me again tomorrow. It's funny, when you start a diet it seems to take ages just to do one week, but now they're flying by Smile.

Fairenuff · 05/02/2012 16:34

TartyMcFarty I meant to say thank you for starting this thread, it's really helped to keep me focuseed. I was wondering what you will do when we reach 1000 posts. Will you start a new thread? How are you getting on, did you manage to lose that half a stone yet?

CupOfBrownJoy · 05/02/2012 16:40

I have definitely cut down a lot on my drinking since I have been dieting. Wine and beer make me faaaaat Sad

Well, I went for the 60 cal choccy dessert

So today i have had a ham salad roll, some quite plain pasta, a choc dessert. I probably won't eat anything else now.

Not a great day, but not awful....

Vicky08 · 05/02/2012 19:33

That sounds like a good day to me cup

I was doing really well until after dinner until I had some strawberries and cream Blush and it's my weigh in day tomorrow Shock Hopefully it won't have made a difference, tomorrow I'll find out!

This thread is also great motivation for me, I assumed that when we get to 1000 posts, which isn't too far away, we would start another one.

SparkySparrow · 05/02/2012 19:45

Well done Cup

We must have another thread after this one!!! I haven't had a great few days but not half as bad as I think it would have been if this thread hadn't been around!

Wi for me tomorrow too Hmm I'm not hopeful :( . But its monday tomorrow, new week and all! And I have no more wine left after tonight and no more bad stuff!

Vicky08 · 05/02/2012 20:44

Good luck for all the weigh ins tomorrow :)

lisad123 · 05/02/2012 21:08

The chocolate cravings are mad!! I have been fine but its that time of the month :( glad there is none in the house

mrspepperpotty · 05/02/2012 22:25

Hi all, just checking in as I haven't been online much for a few days. Good to hear about the weight losses and buying smaller clothes - well done!!

Yes, we must def start a new thread when this one is full!

Took the DCs sledging this morning (we had about 5 inches) which must be good exercise, all that walking up the hill!

Fairenuff I like lime and soda too. I'm not drinking much alcohol at all at the moment, although I did have a couple of glasses of wine last night. Fazsaeed I hope things improve with your OH.

Vicky08 · 06/02/2012 07:55

Weigh in this morning, 1.5lb off yay. Off to work now. Have a good day everyone :)

putyourhatonsweetie · 06/02/2012 08:36

well done vicky that's great. good for you. not a bad day here, fruit platter for breakfast, scrambled eggs on wholemeal toast for lunch and curried chickpeas on brown rice for tea. scraping the pantry dry though so need to do a decent shop tomorrow!

hope you are okay fazsaeed.

Fairenuff · 06/02/2012 08:36

Well done Vicky Smile. Just half a pound off this week for me but that's a total of 10lbs in the last month. I am going for 30lb in 90 days, which is 10lb a month, so I'm bang on target. Will have to step it up a bit now though as the first month is usually the easiest.

putyourhatonsweetie · 06/02/2012 08:38

brilliant going fairenuff!

CupOfBrownJoy · 06/02/2012 10:38

well done Vicky and Fairenuff

I"ve definitely noticed my weight loss slowing down in the last couple of weeks, but I suppose its to be expected. I'm only 3 pounds off target now...

SparkySparrow · 06/02/2012 11:18

Good day so far! :)
Woke up feeling much more positive!
Banana for breakfast (rushing again) , about to have some porridge and quorn spag bol for dinner.

Well done Vicky and Fairenuff :)

CupOfBrownJoy · 06/02/2012 13:09

Well done Sparky, keep it up!! Grin

I've had special K, non fat yoghurt and berries for brekky, ryvitas with cottage cheese and ham for lunch, and dinner will be spaggy bol with very low fat mince.

I did have a little cupcake this morning as one of the pupils had a birthday - it was one of those with rice crispies stuck together with marshmallow, so I reasoned it might not be allll that bad Blush

SparkySparrow · 06/02/2012 16:41

No loss for me this week.
However I am happy with that as I have had a really bad few days, I was expecting a gain. Just gives me a kick up the backside for next week!

On a bad note - I have just dropped my scales on the kitchen floor from quite a height. Now they aren't working properly. :( Will have to get some new ones tomorrow!

Fairenuff · 06/02/2012 17:52

No jokes, please ladies, about Sparky's scales breaking Grin
