So, here we have our nice new little thread. No food type is banned from being mentioned. It is Xmas afterall Xmas Wink. So pull up a comfy chair, I've put a good film on the telly for you, put some logs on the fire and laid out some snacks. We have stollen, mince pies, chocs, shortbread, smelly cheese and crackers, wine and baileys.

Feel free to add anything else!

This thread will self destruct later in the new year, so don't worry about confessing to eating naughty nibbles, or putting on the odd pound (or 8).

Enjoy, and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Xmas Grin

Can I have a motivational pep talk please? I'm so far off plan......

Anyway we are off to the zoo now! Will be back later for a stern talking to.

Hedgepig · 22/01/2012 11:39

Right Cheese...........today is your day off and tomorrow you will start again, it is worth it you know it is, this is a blip and you will get back on track Take it one day at a time. Plan you meals for tomorrow this evening and tomorrow write down everything (before you stuff it in your gob Grin).

TheScarlettPimpernel · 22/01/2012 13:14

Thing is, Cheese, a day or even a weekend of being off-track never made no-one fat. It's months of the stuff that makes fatness! So I think the trick is not, actually, to feel all that bad about it. So you had a nice relaxed weekend! So what! It won't kill you/make you morbidly obese! You can wake up tomorrow morning and say My, that was a nice treat, and now I can enjoy a different sort of treat, viz., Healthy Eating.

Do you know what I mean at all? It's just I know from experience that if I let myself feel guilty and mizz because I've lost control for a couple of days, I think well sod the arsing lot of you then, I give up, I'm hopeless, what's the point, I might as well throw in the towel and eat lard smoothies for the next month. Whereas if I can just shrug it off then it's easier to get back on plan...

CantSleepWontSleep · 22/01/2012 14:47

Mmmm lard smoothies. They sound appetising.
Tell you what cheese, if you don't stick to plan then I'm going to force feed you lard smoothies!

TheScarlettPimpernel · 22/01/2012 14:52

this is what you get if you Google it! Grin

pixiestix · 22/01/2012 15:02

You know how I said that our first Doomer baby was due this week?? Well Fishandlilacs had her little boy on Wedsnesday and he weighed....

... 13lbs! Shock

That is some bloody weight loss plan! Grin

(Better catch up on the thread now!)

midori1999 · 22/01/2012 15:24

13lb!!! WOW!!!! My friend had a 12lb'er (no c section!) but 13lb is impressive! Grin Congrats to her.

Cheese, just don't sweat it. A couple of days off is fine, if you stick to plan the rest of the time you might still lose this week and you almost certainly won't gain. I've 'cheated' so much on SW and got away with it in the past.

Has anyone tried the SW syn free pancakes? They look pancakes in the loosest ever sense of the word, but I might give them a go tonight.

Today's looking like this:

Breakfast: honeydew melon and red grapefruit, mullerlight

Lunch: butternut squash and chilli soup (might have over done the chilli... Grin ) with 2 slices WW malted danish

Dinner: chilli beef stir fry (lots of chillis today!) with lots of veg, no noodles, syn free pancakes

Snacks of fruit.

I am naughty. I got on the scales yesterday morning, too scared to confess until now. It looks like I might have lost 4lb up to then, but now if I haven't lost loads by weigh in then I'll be so disappointed. I want to throw the scales away!!!

DH's weigh in day is today and he's lost another 4lb, so that's 10lb off in two weeks for him. Wouldn't mind so much but he's been stuffing his face! (OK, he has also been running 8 miles a day... )

debka · 22/01/2012 15:31

TSP have all always been Official Thread Philosopher and Motivator cos what you just said to cheese was bloody brilliant and makes so much sense. Thank you :)

midori I think that's a good decision, it's easier to focus on one 'project' at a time. In 6 mo you can definitely make some good inroads on your weight, a good couple of stone I reckon. bet you get pg when you're not Trying as well

pixie bloody hellfire, 13lb!!! Ouch! DD2 was 10.6 and I thought I did well!!

CantSleepWontSleep kind menu moderator, have a look at this for me please :)
B- bacon, egg, pear
L- supernoodles, Large Bowl Of Salad, packet of French Fries (4 syns), small brownie (4 syns)
D- roast chicken, potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots, peas, Muller Light, orange
S- 2 weetabix after my run

debka · 22/01/2012 15:34

x post midori- can you link the syn free pancake recipe please? WELL DONE with your 4lb BTW!

TheScarlettPimpernel · 22/01/2012 15:37

Oh thanks Debs Blush - now I have to see if I can walk the walk as well as talk the talk, and by talk the talk I mean 'eat entire bowls full of cake batter' Grin

Pix fab news about Fishy - All congrats and, indeed, watering eyes to her!

I am intrigued beyond measure as to what's in a SW pancake btw - do tell, Mid!

Btw are any of you on Pinterest? In an attempt to keep fuelling my by now slightly obsessive determination to Overhaul Myself, I have started a board of inspiration. I know from the past that I tend to get highly enthused about things then Give Up so I'm hoping this will focus the mind a bit...

debka · 22/01/2012 15:42

Entire bowl of cake batter.... Grin

midori1999 · 22/01/2012 16:41

In a rush but pancakes are here:

swrecipestodiefor.blogspot.com/2009/01/syn-free-pancakes.html

TheScarlettPimpernel · 22/01/2012 16:49

Hmmmmm. I will be tres interested to see what they're like!

Cheeseandbiscuits · 22/01/2012 18:03

Thanks for the pep talk tsp. You are right of course. I had lots of wine last night and a Chinese takeaway. We had our neighbours round with their 2 kids and had a right old giggle. Today we went to the zoo as we had a free family ticket so we took along their 8 year old. It was hilarious and we did a fair bit of walking.
Food today looks like:
B: 2x hobbit toast
L: pasta in tomato sauce
D: sausage casserole from the mag
So hopefully today hasn't been horrendous Sad
Will catch up on thread properly later

CantSleepWontSleep · 22/01/2012 19:36

Happy to be of service debka Grin.
Only the carrots and orange are super free in your dinner, so prob a bit light there.
Technically you should also have super free with your weetabix, but I've been known to overlook that too.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 22/01/2012 20:40

Damn my post went missing.
tsp sorry to hear you are delaying TTC but hopefully you can sort this out them bang out a baby.

slinky where are yoooouu?

pix 13lbs? Her poor fanjo! Grin muchos congrats though

ria hope orienteering was fun!

bee thinking of you lots

Riapwhatyousow · 22/01/2012 21:53

hi guys.

orienteering. Bloody Hell.Grin

the course was in a place we visit often, but we have certain routes we walk to get places there... let's just say the route this morning didn't take our usual flat paths. AND, DS1 (who was the reason we went in the first place as it was a chance to do it for his GCSE PE) came... fourth out of his school!!!! . DS2 and I came 14th in our section (which is not bad for an easily distracted 8 year old and a fat bloater)

DS3, bless him, has a stinking cold, so he stayed home with DH and made yorkshire puddings... Blush. ah well.

TSP, that is what I do, SO MUCH (minus lard smoothies). It needs to stop.

so sorry, I have forgotten most of the posts. (exhausted from room tidying - nearly done, though DS1 is disgusted that I expect him to do it tomorrow evening as he "will be tired from school"!)

Hedgepig · 22/01/2012 21:58

Evening all, cripes Pix fishes babe is indeed a massive one, did she have a girl or a boy?

Debka I think for EE it helps to visualise your plate with a 1/3 of super free when you are planing the meal, and just steam some veg to fill that space while you are cooking the meal. It does make a difference I forgot about the 1/3 super free for a while and it definatly slowed my weight loss.

TSP i think it makes a lot of sense what you have decided about TTC your 6 month focus on your weight and health could just make the difference.

We have had a nice relaxed day I didn't get out of my PJs until about 11am, and had a nice walk this afternoon.

Today's food:
B melon grapes and natural yog
L left over chicken stir fry and rice
D spag blog (including onion, tomato, carrot, celery) with cabbage and carrots and pasta

midori1999 · 22/01/2012 22:02

Will be back in a bit. Just to say I've made syn free pancakes and they're quite nice. I did say to my DH 'nothing like actual pancakes though' to which he replied ' they're a bit like proper pancakes, they've got lemon on them... ' Grin

CantSleepWontSleep · 22/01/2012 22:13

Ha hedge - I didn't get out of my nightie AT ALL today! Just had a bath and switched from one to another!

Food for today
B: poached eggs on toast (heb).

L: duck livers, chilli sauce, rocket, spinach, watercress, tomatoes + balsamic
D: linguine carbonara style thingy with artichokes, asparagus, baby corn, sugar snap peas. Apple.
Snacks: couple of small bites of chewy flapjacky thing that I made from leftover porridge. 2 squares dark chocolate.

Just debating a small snack before bed...

Hedgepig · 22/01/2012 22:23

That makes me feel better CSWS Grin , I'm trying to avoid a snack must go to bed before I slip.

kid · 22/01/2012 23:09

I just lost my long post Angry

I have planned tomorrows meals and wondered if someone would mind letting me know if I should change or add anything. I'm following EE, well thats what I think I'm doing anyway but I don't attend class, I just use the magazines to guide me.

B: 2 Weetabix, milk (A) apple and orange

L: Greek style salad (boiled eggs, cucumber, tomatoes, onions, 28g feta cheese (2.5 syns)
Banana, Mullerlight

D: Beef Stew (beef, carrots, onions, swede, leeks, chicken stock - cooked in slow cooker)

Should I be using more syns or is it okay to leave them for times that I go over? I thought I was doing okay on SW but my limited weight loss and stuck in a rut has got me thinking I'm not as good at it as I believed I was.

CantSleepWontSleep · 22/01/2012 23:30

looks great kid. I had to look up the feta syns as I don't know them, and it says online that 25g is 3 syns, or 2 syns if it's the low fat version. You don't need to have extra syns at all. The less you have the more weight you will lose!
May I ask why chicken stock in a beef stew rather than beef stock?!

kid · 22/01/2012 23:37

Hmm, I don't know why chicken stock lol. I just typed that without even thinking. I have every type of stock (beef, chicken, vegetable and even spaghetti bolognese stock!)

I'll switch it to beef stock Grin
How can I make the stew thicker without making it loads of syns?
I was advised to add some mash potato to it once its cooked. Has anyone else tried that?

Hedgepig · 22/01/2012 23:45

kid you could add some red lentils to thicken it but a tablespoon of corn flour is only 3 1/2 syns which divided between 4 is less than 1 syn. I much rather prefer using syns to make a meal palatable rather than just saving them for snacks
