So, here we have our nice new little thread. No food type is banned from being mentioned. It is Xmas afterall Xmas Wink. So pull up a comfy chair, I've put a good film on the telly for you, put some logs on the fire and laid out some snacks. We have stollen, mince pies, chocs, shortbread, smelly cheese and crackers, wine and baileys.

Feel free to add anything else!

This thread will self destruct later in the new year, so don't worry about confessing to eating naughty nibbles, or putting on the odd pound (or 8).

Enjoy, and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Xmas Grin

Well done Dorothy, that is control! What did you see?

Finally caught up on Sherlock. It was fab, really brilliant. I think I probably just about kept under my syns with the choc buttons.

Exercise today: either a Davina DVD or 30day shred plus a walk in the park (prob 3 miles but it will be broken up - cafe, swings).
B: fruit and yog
L: scrambled egg, bacon, mushrooms and toms, beans and hobbit toast
D: sausage and root veg casserole, small bit of mash

Enjoy your kindle kid
Hope you had a fab date night tsp

debka · 21/01/2012 07:24

cantsleep bugger, forgot about 1/3 superfree. Could you have some fruit afterwards, would that count?

Cheeseandbiscuits · 21/01/2012 07:35

I always forget super free. But yes you can I think!

kid · 21/01/2012 08:30

I'm still in bed but about to get up as dh wants me to cut his hair, dS might decide he needs a haircut too when he sees me cutting hair.

I'm planning my meals for Monday onwards, I think I'll do a couple of weeks so I can stick to those for a while without getting bored.

I will hopefully be getting some new boots today that I've been after for weeks.

DS seems fine this morning. We've taken the xbox away to see if that could be a trigger. From past records, he isn't due another migraine until 30th Jan but we'll see what happens.

Enjoy your weekend.

grinningbee · 21/01/2012 12:10

Morning all!

Well, I had an epic diet fail last night Blush. I reckon it was about 80 syns worth. Had wine with dinner, and then munched some left over marzipan from when I made the Xmas cake. Arse! I may as well have spread it straight onto my arse actually as there was about half a block. Not any more!

So, today the food will be:

Weetabix and a banana
Cheese triangles on toast, fruit and a yogurt
Quorn chilli and rice

Thanks for letting me talk about yesterday. H has gone off on a lads drinking day today. Yay. M and her dh will be there too.

Ah well, I promised dd I'd bake with her so that's what we'll be doing later I suppose.

Will catch up individually some time today I hope!

I wouldn't worry bee! One day won't hurt - you have had so much on. What happened with DH in the end? Ignore that Q if you want!

grinningbee · 21/01/2012 13:42

It has been a bit of an "interesting" year so far Cheese Grin

Ah, almost forgot about that Willy Wonka. I had yet another very long chat with him about lying. He tried to explain it all away . On Thursday we went to our old local and he was presented with a nice large bill (been running up a tab again) for £149. I almost hit the roof. I told him I do not want to split the family up, but I will if he keeps doing this. That scares me shitless tbh.

You're all right of course, and things are somewhat sharper for what happened yesterday. One life to live and all that (unless I come back as a dung beetle). I feel a bit bad as H went through cancer in 2007 for the second time, so it's bringing it all back to him, and he is quite emotional (understandably) but it still doesn't excuse what's been happening.

I almost wish someone could say "do this, and it'll work out fine". Whatever "this" would be...

Need to have a long hard think at some stage!

oh Bee, mate. Interesting doesn't begin to cover it, does it? Have some Wine. Never too early, am I right?

Well, I am a bit itchy today because I feel out of control owing to not having a clue what or where we will be eating this evening. I've done some walking and I've kept the cals to a minimum (small bowl of porridge for B; steamed veg with feta and bowl of berries for lunch) so I have some 'in hand' as it were, but I still need to be very fastidious about what I eat this eve...

Then Sun, Mon and Tues I'm going to do a sort of detox - I mean nothing bonkers or 600 cals a day or anything stupid, just really focusing on litres of water and no carbs. Wish me luck Hmm

Hope you're all having a lovely weekend so far.

TheScarlettPimpernel · 21/01/2012 14:01

Dear Gott in himmel! I have just stumbled across a programme about women making their children diet Shock

Lots of skinny we 5 or 12 year olds being made to do sit ups and being weighed while their perma-tanned Mums grimly shake their heads. I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

FriendofDorothy · 21/01/2012 14:03

We went to see War Horse. I cried, just a little bit, at the end.

TheScarlettPimpernel · 21/01/2012 14:04

HER MUM MAKES HER WEIGH HERSELF 3 TIMES A DAY!!!1!!111

TheScarlettPimpernel · 21/01/2012 14:05

Oh Lawks Dorothy. I saw the play and was in bits - don't trust myself to see the film. Don't even bloody like horses!

FriendofDorothy · 21/01/2012 14:10

My Mum has seen the stage show and the film and said she cried more at the play. You might be ok.

TheScarlettPimpernel · 21/01/2012 14:13

Hmmm, I might treat meself. Although I think there are now 4 films out that I 'absolutely must MUST see' so it's getting a bit spendy!

midori1999 · 21/01/2012 15:02

Bee, I am so sorry to hear about M's diagnosis. Things must be very hard for you at the moment.

TSP, I think I have seen that, but can't remember what it is called. Was one of the Mum's quite young and had a baby too and was teaching her daughter boxercise or boxing or something? The other girl was about 12 or 13 and her Mum was on slimming pills and wouldn't even let her eat what she wanted at her Birthday (pool) party? It was absolutely shocking!!!

I have to admit, now I have a DD I am much more consciencious of talking about being healthy and losing weight to be healthier and getting fitter for health etc rather than talking about dieting and just losing weight. She's only a baby, but one of my friend's DD's is terrified she'll get boobs because they're 'fat' and constantly talks about not getting fat and she's only 8, I'd be so upset with myself if I let that happen. Not that boys are excluded fromt hat, of course, but I do think there's more pressure on girls. Sad Obviously how I look is a factor, but as I get older I am not taking my health for granted as much, especially as I had gestational diabetes with DD so am at higher future risk of type 2 and losing weight will reduce that risk and also the risk of GD in my next pregnancy. Sorry, going on....

Dorothy, my DS2 is reading War Horse at school, so I am thinking of taking him to see the film tomorrow. I do like horses though and have alwayd had them, so will blub at the end, or any sad bits, no doubt.

debka · 21/01/2012 19:16

midori I'm the same, I really want to show and set a good example to my DDs. They are only young now so I hope they won't remember me as how I am now. I had GD with DD2 so I'm also aware of the risk factors associated with being overweight.

Been busy and not too tired today so easy to stay on track.

B- bacon, egg, pear
L- pasta, grapes
D- homemade chicken nuggets, SW wedges, beans, Muller Light

Just having an Options hot choc now. I got 7 of the little sachet jobs in Sainsbos and am testing them all to see which is my fave. Current Hot Contender is the mint.

kid · 21/01/2012 19:22

TSP I'm with Orange mobile so can get codes for 2for1 on Wednesdays. If you are interested, let me know and I'll get the code for you. That means it would be half price for you (assuming 2 of you wanted to go)

I treated myself to some new gym trainers today, they are really nice. It would be a shame to ruin them at the gym Wink I will use them really, I needed a new pair.
I also needed a new pair of boots but saw 3 pairs that I liked. DH kindly bought all 3 pairs for me Grin

Erm, I really am making the most of having the weekend off plan. I've got a glass of wine at the moment but won't be refilling it. I'll have to switch to water or tea after its finished.

CantSleepWontSleep · 21/01/2012 19:32

Debka - you forgot to have any super free with your dinner again!

debka · 21/01/2012 19:46

DAMMIT. I could have an apple now???

midori1999 · 21/01/2012 21:07

I like the Options. We just got a huge tub of Belgian choc in Costco. I do like the mint one a lot too though and the white choc.

I've eaten a bit more today as I did feel a bit sicky this morning and I wonder if I've been eating enough really. Today I've had:

Breakfast: 4 egg omlette with mushrooms, tomatoes, cheese (5 syns) then a banana.

Lunch: red pepper and tomato soup, 2 slices WW malted Danish, apple, apricot.

Dinner: 1/2 Ainsley cous cous (1syn) with tons of roasted super free veg and chicken. Mullerlight. (coconut sprinkled with choc one, haven't had one before, it was lovely!!!)

CantSleepWontSleep · 21/01/2012 21:49

It would have to be a very big apple to equate to half of your dinner. Maybe a melon would be more like it. Grin

Food for today:
B omelette with peppers, ham, asparagus. 'fried' potatoes.
S: banana
L: butternut squash risotto
D: roast chicken, roast potatoes, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, green beans, sprouts, gravy (c 2 syns)
S: rice pudding and fresh mango

Haven't decided whether to have some toast for my HEb later or not.

debka · 22/01/2012 06:30

cantsleep see that's what i ought to be eating, all that veg like you. I'm going to have to start planning this better aren't i...

TheScarlettPimpernel · 22/01/2012 09:00

Midori that was the very one!!!! Awful. The mother of the wee teenage girl I think must have been pretty damaged to have behaved like that.

I actually also worry about having daughters not least since weight is a common issue through my family on both sides. DH and I are having a 'pause' in TTCing - the GP is going to refer us for FC as soon as we like/I get just below the right BMI threashold, but we have decided that I should get a real grip on my weight issues before we bring another life into the world. It probably sounds utterly absurd for someone with fertility problems to take a 6 month break, but it won't matter long-term and in that time I could potentially conquer a lifetime of obesity you know? And that can only be a good thing before thinking about passing on habits and hang-up to children.

I'm blethering sorry!

Right. DH has OF COURSE lost 3lb in about 5 days, the spawny get as they say in Viz. I'm not bloody standing for this! Today is the first day of my 3 day Extra Special Effort:

B - coffee and yog
L - minestrone with a bit of feta, berries with honey and Total 0%
D - salmon with steamed veg, stewed apple and yog

And pints 'n' pints 'n' pints of water...

Riapwhatyousow · 22/01/2012 09:23

morning all.
I am taking the morning off cleaning out DS1s room to take the boys orienteering! (I had hoped DH would take them so I could get on with the Quite Important cleaning, but as I have traded off cooking Sunday lunch, I'll go with the exercise!)

That sounds like a terrible programme.Sad TBH, the trouble I have had with the boys have stemmed from school "healthy eating" lessons! When DS1 had a term of lessons on it in junior school he went through an awful phase of not eating/not being able to eat with other people/questioning sugar content of everythingSad and it was awful trying to make him understand about balanced eating, and having a little of what you fancy etc. The Wii weighed him as "underweight" this week, which worries me (despite what the GP said), he has his referral to the consultant for his digestive problems soon though. DS2 is doing healthy eating now, will see how it goesHmm

TheScarlettPimpernel · 22/01/2012 09:42

Oh wow, orienteering! That'll be tons more fun than cleaning and you'll come back all roses in your cheeks and with some syns in hand Wink

Problems with your DS eating sounds really stressful, poor wee mite. it must be so hard for children when they're young not to really internalise all that stuff and panic about it. How old is he? It's great that they have a Mum who actually does understand what eating a healthy balanced diet means. Imagine if they had a Mum like the ones on that programme Sad Doesn't bear thinking about really...

Oh tiny triumph yesterday - I was worried about where we would end up eating, but we ended up in Pizza Express and they have 'leggere' pizza which is no more than 500 cals. I got carried away and had one of their miniature desserts, but even so - despite having had wine, a G&T, pizza and pudding, I'm only 55 cals over...
