So, here we have our nice new little thread. No food type is banned from being mentioned. It is Xmas afterall Xmas Wink. So pull up a comfy chair, I've put a good film on the telly for you, put some logs on the fire and laid out some snacks. We have stollen, mince pies, chocs, shortbread, smelly cheese and crackers, wine and baileys.

Feel free to add anything else!

This thread will self destruct later in the new year, so don't worry about confessing to eating naughty nibbles, or putting on the odd pound (or 8).

Enjoy, and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Xmas Grin

PS who watched Sherlock? I have just watched so can talk about it now. I cried myself sick Grin

Cheeseandbiscuits · 16/01/2012 20:32

NO TALKING ABOUT SHERLOCK . I havent seen it yet!

I opened the Romanian choc my cleaner bought me. Luckily, its vile so Ihave had one square and binned it!

I am very mizz tonight. I thought it was hormones but if it is the most miserable day of the year then I shall wallow.
Right, better finish these dratted thank you letters!

TheScarlettPimpernel · 16/01/2012 20:35

Ooooo OK Cheese: lips/sealed, other than to say it was so good I was pretty much shrieking with joy all the way through (am a Holmes fiend have been for more than 20 years [speccy geek emoticon]).

Sorry you're mizz but yes, as it's Blue Monday you are entitled to wallowing.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 16/01/2012 20:45

Thanks TSP for keeping your gob shut. DH will KILL me if I watch it without him! Hows things now? Are YOU feeling less glum? I have beenposting on my phone so can't write long replies but your introspective post has had me thinking all day.

debka · 16/01/2012 20:48

TSP I absolutely know where you are coming from. You sort of adopt the expected persona which goes with how you look, even if that isn't actually you at all, and do it for so long you forget who you really are. Motherhood does the same IMO, I'm just emerging from the fog of babydom, and rediscovering that I am a person myself. Running (something that if you knew me you would never ever believe) has been part of me becoming me again, as is losing weight actually. Hmm that was confusing...

cheese and kid and ria sorry you've had such rubbish days, I bet things perk up tomorrow. Plus the days are getting longer

Had a busy old day today, won't bore you with the details but I'm blooming done in now.

Weigh day tomorrow

TheScarlettPimpernel · 16/01/2012 21:27

Cheese yeah I had to wait until DH was around too!

I am feeling less glum, thanks. I have just taken some time to examine why I have been this way (hence introspective post!).

Debka thanks, it does help to know I'm not talking nonsense - interesting how motherhood can have much the same effect!

I think (if we were down the pub having slimline G&Ts I'd be looking at both of you right now Grin) that I have realised how much of a sense of shame and inferiority i have had all my life, and how that has impacted on other areas of my life. I have let that negativity bleed into other resentments and make them more bitter - a feeling that I am a great fat jolly bouncing no-one, someone to be mildly pitied, and probably liked, but never really admired or in the 'top' strata of society - because fat people are always a little bit daft aren't they, and not to be taken terribly seriously.

And that has made me envious of people when I ought not to have been, and bitter about things perhaps, and not let me be everything I'd like to be.

I know a lot of the above says more about me than about what others think of me but that's kind of the point - weight loss/better health should be about you, not about everyone else!

Anyway, soz, you lot are not my therapists, but it does us good to 'share' (hideous phrase) how we're feeling now and then...

TheScarlettPimpernel · 16/01/2012 21:28

Note - I do not of course think people with weight problems are 'daft' - that's just what I have internalised about what I think everyone is thinking when they look at me, IYSWIM!

kid · 16/01/2012 21:38

I decided to go food shopping tonight as the fridge and cupboards were bare. Well full of junk I can't eat.
Dd wanted to come with me so off we went at 7pm. We got home at 8:30 and she talked for the entire 90 minutes!
She has gone to bed now. She is really sweet most of the time with just a few tantrums now and again. I do believe we've been very lucky with her, dS is a whole different story.

Sugar free jelly us syn free isn't it? I hope so as I've jusy eaten an entire bowl of it. That's 1 pint of jelly. I didn't intend to eat it all but i wasn't really paying attention. I do hope I'm not sick now!

TheScarlettPimpernel · 16/01/2012 21:41

Kid it won't make you sick I reckon - possibly just a bit hyper from the E numbers!

CantSleepWontSleep · 16/01/2012 22:59

Mmmmm fish and chips from the van tonight. Took the batter off the fish though, so that was free, and 5 of us shared 1 large portion of chips. I did of course have mushy peas too, and melon for my superfree .

leftover chicken casserole and rice and cabbage for lunch, and poached egg on toast and an apple for breakfast.

TheScarlettPimpernel · 17/01/2012 07:05

Am speechless with admiration that you can manage to create a SW-ish supper from the chippie CSWS Shock

I have never learned to do that. I'd've been face down in the battered sossinges Grin

Right; Doomsday Eve, and I shall overcome

B - Belvita, coffee
L - Salmon and noodle salad
D - fishfingers and oven chips and peas (regressing to childhood! yay!),fruit and yogurt.

Good luck today everyone!

Cheeseandbiscuits · 17/01/2012 08:05

Right I'm drawing a line under yesterday and starting again today! Impressed with the batter avoidance csws.

Dh has finished his nights. Yay! So I think we are going to have a long walk this afternoon. I couldn't get into Zumba again this morning. What's the point of paying for the gym if you can't get into any of the bloody classes.

Anyway
B: fruit and yog
L: eggs, bacon, mushrooms and toms
D: chicken and mushroom risotto with parmesan as HEA
Snack fruit fruit and fruit

grinningbee · 17/01/2012 08:13

Morning all!

Laptop on last legs - one of the dc spilt milk on it while I was making cannelloni last night. It keeps doing random *'s everywhere!

Ria sorry for the frustrating hopsital visit. Gah indeed.

Midori yay for the TTC!

Cheese never mind re the leap. Onwards and downwards Wink

CSWS I have fish and chip envy Grin

Kid hope you are feeling better today

TSP you say what you like in here! That's the whole point, innit? Anyway, I bet there were lots of nodding heads reading your posts. There was here.

Right, before the morning chaos starts, here's the food for the day:

Ready brek, 1 x ryvita with 1tsp marmalade, banana
Cheese triangles on toast, apple, clementines, yogurt
Left over spinach cannelloni

Weigh in day for me today, and big food shop day. Huzzah!

TheScarlettPimpernel · 17/01/2012 08:25

Yay for presence of DH and fresh starts, Cheesy - is he in the emergency services?? Mine is. I have often used copper's wife anxiety as a reason to get stuck into the jar of mincemeat a bar of Dairy Milk...

Morning Bee! Ooooo canneloni . Good luck for the weigh-in!

Cheeseandbiscuits · 17/01/2012 09:06

Yeh something like that tsp, he's an A&E doc. He works bloody hard, he's just off 4 night shifts and back in at 7 am tomorrow. Sad

I've just weighed my self and I've put on a about a stone apparently! I'm off to find the other ones!

Cheeseandbiscuits · 17/01/2012 09:07

Phone, sorry.

bee I was also nodding away. Sorry about the laptop. Kids eh?

I missed the midori ttc - good luck pal!

Riapwhatyousow · 17/01/2012 11:12

morning.

TSP your posts are v sensible, know where you're coming with the last one too. Esp, inferiority etc. I think I have clung on to my mummyness because I know where I am with that am a bit scared by the whole "not having an DCs at home all day" thing. Lots of finding of real self, self-esteem and some balls to be done hereGrin (and not feeling socially inadequate)

Just eaten HUGE SW fry-up, which I wasn't expecting, but DH had it prepared by the time I got home from the school run with the eggs (I was having half a grapefruit and a boiled egg, and bought DH some posh kippers from the fancy overpriced deli). Everything running late though as the heating engineer came back to finish the job he started last week, and he is such a chatterbox. and now it's nearly time to go to work.

much respect to your DH's cheese (and you too) and TSP. Don't think "chef's wife" anxiety has quite the same seriousness about it (although I never know what time he'll be coming in from work, or if he'll stil have a job when he comes inHmm)

Riapwhatyousow · 17/01/2012 11:16

LOL, just done my first trawl of day of the job websites, and there is an ad for a "magicians assistant". Thank goodness DS1 isn't old enough and we don't ive in Sheffield!

Hedgepig · 17/01/2012 11:53

Oooo magicians assistant sounds great fun Ria.

I must say ladies loosing the weight I have lost so far has really helped my self esteem, I even volunteered in my appraisal to do some training to try and address my giving presentations phobia

Cheeseandbiscuits · 17/01/2012 12:23

Good for you hedge. My Mum has a severe phobia of public speaking but she has just acceptied a teaching job! Nurses not kids but she still needs to stand up and give presentations. She has lost 2 stone with SW and is now a size 10.

Ria Magicians assistant sounds fab! Maybe you will get sawn in half! I think we are having a SW fry up too, delicious. Got to kick DH out of bed first and then get DD down. I am starving!

grinningbee · 17/01/2012 15:26

Laptop won't bloody start nowSad

Thankfully i have the kindle but it's so slow to type!

Will try to pm you cheese, i'd hate to miss doom day.

midori1999 · 17/01/2012 16:37

Thanks for the TTC 'good wishes'.

CSWS My husband has been fancying fish and chips since we started SW. Lucky he hasn't read your post! I told him we can have some after my weigh in next week!

Cheese I am impressed you even have a gym membership, let alone actually go there. (Have had several gym memberships and never kept up going. A spinning class once almost killed me though... Great for your Mum taking thet teaching job abd great on the SW weight loss too!

Grinningbee that's annoying (to say the least!) about the laptop! Ours have gradually given up and we've gone from one laptop and two netbooks in the family to just one netbook. DH is too tight to buy a new laptop! Hmm Good luck for your weigh in! Mine's tonight too, I'm trying to avoid dinner until afterwards, which is silly really.

Ria, Grin at magicians assistant. I don't suppose that's something that comes up often!

Riapwhatyousow · 17/01/2012 16:48

midori is your H doing SW too? Mine is reluctantly, and moaning a lot, but is being a meanie about my lack of willpower (as in, he never complains when I veer off plan, and will happily join in with the wine/naughty food etc).

got to head off to college now. Really don't feel like it, and can't be bothered to put on "the face" and pretend to be outgoing and enthusiatic. Want to sleep.

kid · 17/01/2012 17:18

There is a programme on tonight at 5:45pm on cbbc. There is a chance that ones DS might be appearing on there at some point over the series.

midori1999 · 17/01/2012 17:33

Ria , yes he is, but only I go to group, he babysits and then follows it at home. He has to eat what I tell him though as he's too lazy to read the books! Annoying, but could be fun... Grin he's slim anyway, as he has to stay fit for his job, but ate too much over Christmas. He does the same as your DH!

Kid that sounds interesting! What sort of programme is it? How did he get involved? Bet you'll be watching like hawks! Smile
