So, here we have our nice new little thread. No food type is banned from being mentioned. It is Xmas afterall Xmas Wink. So pull up a comfy chair, I've put a good film on the telly for you, put some logs on the fire and laid out some snacks. We have stollen, mince pies, chocs, shortbread, smelly cheese and crackers, wine and baileys.

Feel free to add anything else!

This thread will self destruct later in the new year, so don't worry about confessing to eating naughty nibbles, or putting on the odd pound (or 8).

Enjoy, and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Xmas Grin

I haven't had a great day but I am just off to Zumba. It's Sunday night! I should be relaxing on the sofa!

TheScarlettPimpernel · 15/01/2012 18:14

You can relax after Friend, feeling all smug, with a glass of wine

I have shamefully failed to do anything more strenuous than walk the 1.5 to Sainsbo's, despite the fact it has been an utterly glorious day. Ho hum. Pass me the Fat Dunce hat and I'll stand wobbling in the corner...

Riapwhatyousow · 15/01/2012 18:16

plus hobbits have second breakfast and elevenses so they aren't really cursed by hobbit toastWink

zumba on a Sunday! don't think there are many Sundy classes i these parts, esp. in the evening. (In fact my gym teacher is on FB talking ofapre-birthday bender and associated "headache". If only she had the physique of a less-gym-bunny person, didn't post photos of herself doing extreme mountain-biking at the weekend and have cute children, she would be my bestest friendWink)

DH took the boys off exploring smugglers caves and the coast this afternoon (FGS - what about the tide???? uptight mummy) I had a long bath and a snooze. Still feel crappy, but at least I am clean and miserable (with frizzy hair)

taking DS2 for his ENT check-up tomorrow, but am well-planned meal-wise.

kid · 15/01/2012 18:44

I'm back at the gym tomorrow night which will help work off todays choc cake and wine. Speaking if wine, I've got a glass to finish off. Then I'll start sw again. I think this week will probably be a write off Sad

Cheeseandbiscuits · 15/01/2012 19:18

Enjoy Zumba dorothy. I'm very impressed you are going on a Sunday night.

Struggling to get dd down, she's exhausted but wont seem to relax to sleep, I think she's overtired!

Enjoy your wine kid.

huffpot hope scan goes ok.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 15/01/2012 19:56

I want chocolate so so bad

debka · 15/01/2012 20:19

cheese have an Options hot chocolate? Or a couple of squares of dark? Is DD down yet? (how old is she?)

huffpot glad you persuaded MIL to babysit, hope scan goes (went?) well and it's good news.

Right TSP I'm gonna beat ya this week just wait, been out for a RUN this evening although chicken chow mein is only 7 syns...

I was getting a bit excited about Hobbit toast, hoping it was some magic, delicious and filling SW secret food, but no, crappy mingy nimble toast with no fecking butter or marmalade or anything. I just don't bother with bread at all, rather have alpen lights or weetabix than nasty wholemeal nonsense.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 15/01/2012 20:33

My very skinny 21 year ol sister named it hobbit toast. She'd been out the night before and popped around to my house for tea and toast the next day. I only had the 400g loaf so made her some of that. She then said "what the fuck is this, hobbit toast". And it stuck. Grim, isn't it?

She is 10.5 months. Sob sob! She's growing too quickly must be time for another

I've had a toffee muller light and am watching call the midwife. I want to eat cos I'm bored and lonely - DH on nights. Hope your chow mein was delicious did you go for a run?

Cheeseandbiscuits · 15/01/2012 20:35

Oh I forgot to say, yes she is asleep!

debka · 15/01/2012 20:39

Well done, tres virtuous! I am exactly the same, bored, lonely, no DH- HIT THE KITCHEN!! What's Call The Midwife like? I wanted to watch it but DH is watching something else extremely dull.

Chow mein was bloody lovely, although the DDs snaffled some of it. Angry Grin Did my run, took ages to get warmed up though, it's cold out there.

DD2 is 11mo, they grow so fast don't they! She was very tired at bedtime too, plus I think she may be coming down with something. Again.

TheScarlettPimpernel · 15/01/2012 20:52

I'm loving Call the Midwife - perfect Sunday night fodder, only don't say whether that Spanish lass dies in childbirth cos I'm 20 minutes behind Grin

I WANT CHOW MEIN DAMN YOUR EYES

Cheeseandbiscuits · 15/01/2012 20:53

Merci beaucoup!
Call the midwife is very vey good.

Oh they are close in age. I have found this the best and the hardest stage yet! He is so lovely and giggly and happy. But also strong willed and shouty and opinionated. Grin like her mother. November and December we had a massive sleep regression but we seem to be back on track for now.

debka · 15/01/2012 20:53

Envy I can only hope my mum recorded it.

Sorry TSP! it was goooooooood though..... Grin

debka · 15/01/2012 20:56

cheese yes DD2 has learned The Manipulative Cry, probably from her big sister who is a past master at it. She is absolutely lovely though, so full of character and makes us all laugh every day. Her sleep is good, I mustn't complain, but she does have an annoying early morning habit, I wouldn't mind except she's obviously still tired. This too will pass.....

Cheeseandbiscuits · 15/01/2012 21:01

Aah DD is the queen of the scream. She had a stage of 5am wake ups, I cut back her morning nap by 30min and moved it 30min later. Seemed to work for us.

I'm banned from Sherlock as Dh wants us to watch it together. So what to do know?

Riapwhatyousow · 15/01/2012 21:17

DH and DS1 are watching Sherlock. I haven't got into this series at all, but I didn't mind the last one. I thought the midwife thing might be a bit grim with too much death and poverty etc, so have avoided it because I am weak. DS1 is disgusted that Miranda is doing non-comedy acting.

could kill for chinese. I am making myself garlic cheesy bread with the last of the mozarella from DH's pizza making fest, and some stale french stick. And I have no excuse as DH is actually here (in body that is).

Riapwhatyousow · 15/01/2012 21:46

is it just me being childish, but why does Moriarty look like Ant and Dec's love child? and don't you just wish someone would say "no shit Sherlock", just once?

I am online window shopping - I want some budget artwork of seaside beach huts - any ideas?

CantSleepWontSleep · 15/01/2012 22:46

I have just had a slice of real toast (wholemeal, but full sized) with real butter. My goodness it was delicious! I must stop having all these bits of butter though, or ds2 is going to have a horrible tummy/bottom.

I have just done a menu plan for Tues-Sat, as my Ocado delivery is tomorrow night. I thought that more planning would mean that I would spend less, but I didn't. £232.54. That's only for 5 fecking days! No wonder we are so skint these days. We are even looking to change one of our gas guzzling cars to save money. Maybe I should just give the car to Ocado in exchange for a year's groceries Hmm.

Riapwhatyousow · 15/01/2012 22:51

It is a bit expensive (SW) I think CSWS. I am wondering about next weeks menu plan/shopping, without having beef and a chicken in the freezer like this weekHmm

Cheeseandbiscuits · 15/01/2012 22:51

Blimey csws that is expensive! What with this being my 11 th month of mat leave we are broke. So ocado has been swapped for sainsburys, it's so much cheaper!

Riapwhatyousow · 15/01/2012 22:57

blimey, I did my shopping at Sainsburys this week and I though they were expensiveBlush

Riapwhatyousow · 15/01/2012 23:08

I might even give the "local" shops a go this week - got strawberries for £1 yesterday at the greengrocers, and so long as I don't tell DH which shops I go to locally (He has issues with a couple that do trade supplies) I can get good fruit and veg prices. Will probably buy meat from the supermarket though, because at least it is priced (I dread asking for meat in a butchers in case I can't afford it when it's weighedBlush)

CantSleepWontSleep · 16/01/2012 00:08

Sainsbury's deffo more expensive, plus I refuse to use them after one branch failed to deliver and said that they could bring my shopping 4 days later, and another branch nearly had me arrested for assault because of a lying bitch assistant on her first day in the job who was trying to save her ass!

Don't forget that there are 5 of us though.
And I have ordered fillet steak for Dh and I for tues night Grin (£16 iirc).

CantSleepWontSleep · 16/01/2012 00:10

We don't have any local shops to use, on account of being in the middle of nowhere. Unless you count the nearby village shop/post office which made the news this week for selling unopened boxes of shreddies from the 1970s for £160 each on eBay Grin.

Hedgepig · 16/01/2012 04:20

I saw your linky to that on FB csws! Our village shop and pub have shut in the past few years so we now have no facilities within stomping distance. The shop has reopened as a teashop, but not much use when you need a ag of frozen peas. Food does seem to be getting so much more expensive. I've given up on online ordering as I just forget half the stuff and have to go to the shop anyway.

I have meals planned for the next couple of days and I'm trying to use up the dregs of the sfrozen food so I can defrost it. I have had a mega clean up and sort out today but was too tired to cook at he end of it so we had a take out. It's now stupid o'clock and I can't sleep grrrrrrr everyone else is zzzzzz away. I could prepare for my appraisal that I'm having today but can't be bothered with the latest corporate bollocks plan that we have to work onto it.
