So, here we have our nice new little thread. No food type is banned from being mentioned. It is Xmas afterall Xmas Wink. So pull up a comfy chair, I've put a good film on the telly for you, put some logs on the fire and laid out some snacks. We have stollen, mince pies, chocs, shortbread, smelly cheese and crackers, wine and baileys.

Feel free to add anything else!

This thread will self destruct later in the new year, so don't worry about confessing to eating naughty nibbles, or putting on the odd pound (or 8).

Enjoy, and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Xmas Grin

Thanks guys. Yep, need Brew and to wait and see. I am keeping everything crossed that it'll be a simple removal job and recovery. I tend to go into humour mode in the face of bad news (so inapproriate) and texted her to offer a bottle of gin for under the pillow in hospital Grin. Having been through stomach cancer with H I can imagine how she and her dh are feeling.

Now then. First birthday parties! How lovely that there are a few coming up! For dd we used a room at our old local pub and bought everyone Sunday dinner, and I made a cake for pud. DD helpfully came out with chickenpox the day before Grin but we told everyone and it still went ahead. For ds we had a quiet day and went to a farm.

I like the drop in idea - puts the onus on other people to make the effort, and you just provide food and drink!

Cheese Your first lentil pie tonight? Ooooh, you must let me know what you think.

I found a large still sealed jar of Nutella in the top of the kitchen cupboard. That is not good! I will resist, and not just dive in with a spoon. Don't think my weigh in tomorrow is going to be very spectacular, but anything off would be good even though I've been a saint this last week!

OP posts:
Cheeseandbiscuits · 09/01/2012 13:24

yep its the first ever one! I am looking forward to its colonic effects.

I always think humour as its place, nothing inappropriate there. Good resistnace on the nutella. I hope the house works out for you, which would you prefer?

debka · 09/01/2012 13:59

Can I join in please?

I'm doing SW too, been on it since October and lost 3 stone so far. I need to lose another ten or so still. I do EE, suits me perfectly because I am a greedy pig Grin

I'm also doing Couch to 5K at the moment which seems to be helping my weight loss- 7lbs last week Shock (although I had gained 3.5lb the week before).

bee so sorry to read about your friend, what a terrible shock, I really hope she gets some positive results.

cheese sorry but I can't think of much worse than a lentil pie

Cheeseandbiscuits · 09/01/2012 14:02

Hi debka, you have done amazingly well. Of course you can join, welcome to our fat club! Grin. I have it on good authority that this pie causes miraculous results . I will let you know how it goes!

MunchkinsMumof2 · 09/01/2012 14:05

Can I join please? I'm starting SW for the first time tonight and reckon I need to lose 2 stone. I am low about my weight and life in general and that usually conincides with bingeing and the pounds piling on. I'd really appreciate being held to account somewhere so that I can stick to the plan and lose the weight for good.

TheScarlettPimpernel · 09/01/2012 14:06

Yo Debka, well done and welcome Grin

I started doing C25K a while back and ADORED it - amazing how quickly you get better - but I never seemed to be at home in the daylight. And I am a big brave feminist but I draw the line and heaving my asthmatic, slow, lumbering carcass around dark Tower Hamlets parks all, all alone ...

Am intrigued by the lentil pie. Alas, I fear nothing less than a dinner composed entirely of gravel and Senokot would get my waste disposal system functioning efficiently, but I am prepared to Believe the Dream...did I see a recipe upthread?

TheScarlettPimpernel · 09/01/2012 14:08

I am looking to lose about 2 stone too, and am right at the beginning, so we can bully/cajole/bitterly race each other!

MunchkinsMumof2 · 09/01/2012 14:16

Brilliant, thank you Scarlett, I need a definite shove in the right direction!!

SlinkyB · 09/01/2012 14:18

Oh no bee, what nasty news, thinking of you and your friend (is she the lovely neighbour?). Yes yes, drink lots of Brew and do keep your sense of humour. Sorry the houses which are on offer don't seem to appeal, fingers crossed a nice 3-bed on a nice street turns up soon.

Well done on mostly sticking to your diet all weekend TSP - and best of luck consoling your friend tonight Sad.

What a nightmare about those trousers ria ?! You might be better off measuring yourself a la bee, no? Not that you'd prob wanna publish them or anything daft, but just so you can see the results for yourself and boast about losing 3ft off your arse!.

Been shopping this morning and am almost ready for the 1st birthday celebrations. Have to be this organised, as we have parties every weekend this month (I did love going to baby groups, buuuut....!) and am working three days this week, and five next Shock Sad.

Dp text this am to say ds cried when he dropped him at nursery, so I spent 4hrs worrying about him and longing to give him a hug (the baby, not dp). Turns out he'd stopped pretty quickly and had had a great time Grin.

Menu for today:

B: Weetabix
Snack: Apple and banana
L: Ainsley chilli cous-cous, yoghurt
D: Chicken stir-fry with brown rice
Syns: so far, two choc gold coins pinched from dss

Have a headache so think I need to drink more.

TheScarlettPimpernel · 09/01/2012 14:20

Awesome. Joint shoving will see us 2 stone down by Easter Grin

BTW, if you new folks haven't read upthread and seen the drill: WEdnesdays are the Day of Doom. In the morning, PM someone (last time it was Cheese, but I don't know who is doing this week) your start weight for your first week, and your target, and your loss as they come. Your actual weight wouldn't be posted unless you wanted it to be. The Big Fat List is then posted in order of size of loss/gain every week, adding an extra sense of competition...

I should fess up to being a bit of a failure mind you. I started the threads under another name about a thousand years ago, then Life started pissing on my chips so I went away, and have now returned no thinner, but more determined

busyboysmum · 09/01/2012 15:04

Hi there

Can I join too please? Started on Saturday - never done SW before.

I have 2 plus stone to loose after the birth of ds3 in November - I am bf, is anyone else? I believe we can have more of the Healthy Choices?

I have had porridge and sultanas for brekkie and chicken with potatoes and veg for lunch, plus banana and 2 apples for snacks. Can we have as many as we like of said fruit and veg?

grinningbee · 09/01/2012 15:05

Now don't go blaming me if the pie doesn't have the required effect Wink. Worked on me this morning though after eating it last night, ha ha.

And yes to measuring yourself when you start. Tis good to see how many inches have come off (even a foot off your arse Wink).

Welcome welcome welcome to the newest joiners. This is fab!

The lady in question isn't our neighbour, tis a friend of H's who I've got to know and we see her a couple of times a week at our old local. Her dh is H's best mate (the one who leads him astray...). She has looked after the dc for us a couple of times so we can go out.

As for houses - I'd like the 3 bed house on the road where the 2 bed is Grin. Who knows what'll happen. We'll probably end up with neither, so I'm not going to get excited much.

I'm going to try a couple of new recipes from the latest mag this week, so if they're any good I'll bung them on the recipe thread. Going to do the cheese and onion pie, and also the beef and pepper stew.

I hate it when you type a message, click post and then get logged out so the message vanishes into cyber space.
I just lost a long post arghhhh

midori1999 · 09/01/2012 16:39

Bee, I am so sorry to hear about your friend, I hope the tests reveal something not too bad/useful.

TSP I am incredibly sorry about your Mum, it must be so very hard for your whole family.

This thread is busy, I'll have to properly keep up.

To those who asked, my DD is 6 1/2 months old and we are doing BLW, so she's not EBF. I think it is one extra HE I should have, but I always struggle to have them all anyway. Today I have had:

Breakfast: 4 egg omlette
snack: apple
Lunch: sweetcorn on toast, mullerlight

Dinner will be syn free vegetable curry and brown rice and I'll probably have a snack a while after that of fruit/yoghurt/maybe toast or something.

I have big portions and feel like I am eating loads!

TheScarlettPimpernel · 09/01/2012 17:40

Midori it's my pal's Mum, but thanks for being so nice. I can't imagine how hard it must be Sad

'Im indoors is cooking dinner and it smell LUSH

kid · 09/01/2012 18:07

bee, I'm really sorry to hear about your friend. I really hope the tests provide some positive news. I know its hard not to think the worse when it comes to tumours but DH's nan was diagnosed with lung cancer nearly 9 years ago and its not stopped her from doing anything, she is 83.

I am sorry to hear about your friends mum also TSP, it must be so hard to watch someone battle something and then be dealt a rotten hand by getting a secondary tumour. Its happening to a someone I know. Its alwful to watch knowing full well nothing can be done.

I tested my new scales this morning and I think they might be working after all. Well the BMI, body fat and water content measuring bit is a bit up the wall, but the actual weight measuring seems to know which direction it needs to be going Smile. I'll check it again properly on Wednesday for DoD.

I haven't started dinner yet, I haven't even sorted out meals for the week so I might attempt that tonight. I get so easily distracted though.
Its DD's birthday at the weekend and I am trying to organise that. She is going to be 13 so I want it to be a special one she remembers.

I suppose I'd better start dinner seeing as no-one else in this house even knows where the oven is!

Cheeseandbiscuits · 09/01/2012 18:20

Quick post

midori if you are doing EE then its 3 extra HE and if you are doing red / green then 5 - 3 or 4 of which should be dairy

busyboy you get 6 extra (!!) if doing EE and 8 extra if you are doing red / green. It stays like that until you wean at 6 months, if you wean earlier you lose 2.

Will post later

Cheeseandbiscuits · 09/01/2012 18:21

OOp sorry its not EXTRA its total healthy extras, IYSWIM

midori1999 · 09/01/2012 18:34

Phew!!! Wondered how the heck I was going to manage that then! Thankyou! I'm doing red/green. Extra easy was new when I last went to a group and I can't work it out! Blush do so many of them really have to be dairy? You can BF dairy free? Maybe it's for the fat?

TSP I'm sorry, what a horrible thing for me to misread. My thoughts are with your friend's family.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 09/01/2012 18:47

Haha I did think that's a bloody lot of food, I remember I ate a lot of cereal and milk. I think it's for the calcium - that's what they say anyway. I personally think its for the extra fat.

TheScarlettPimpernel · 09/01/2012 19:14

Oh no Midori it was lovely of you to be so nice :)

Am chuckling at the thought of you/Cheese eating your way through 249 portions of HEs a day.

Mind you....tragically, I expect I could actually eat that much, in the form of cheese toasties or somesuch Blush

Cheeseandbiscuits · 09/01/2012 19:16

Urgh cheese toasties Yum Yum!

Having another battle with DD to get her to sleep, she's a blooming nightmare at the moment. Considering a glass of wine...

Cheeseandbiscuits · 09/01/2012 19:16

I could actually eat 249 portions of cheese

TheScarlettPimpernel · 09/01/2012 19:21

Me too.

And I am drinking some port. I have just royally pissed someone off, something which I seem to be doing with startling frequency at the moment. Pah. I should not be allowed to speak to people.

kid · 09/01/2012 19:44

cheese, do you think the wine will help your DD sleep? Wink
