GoingForGoalWeight · 11/12/2011 23:04

I weigh over 25 stones. I expect to weigh more than this on New Years Day after all the festive scoff is over. Xmas Grin

I am going to start the Cambridge Diet - Sole Source - on New Years Day.

I have found my Consultant and we have met, she lost 13 stones in 9 months and has kept the weight off for over 7 years!

4 Cambridge choc mint shakes per day.

3 - 4 litres of water per day.

Anybody else planning on starting The Cambridge Diet in 2012? Come join me and we can support each other.

Xmas Smile

If you did have a slip up one day does it really impact the diet?? I was wondering because by doin this diet your not havin any sugar, carbs etc so by having a slip up and eating some would it affect your body if your in ketosis? xx

happyhappymummy · 30/04/2012 18:53

Yes it does. I would say it would probably effect the weeks loss and personally I dont think after 6 days of shakes and one slip up is worth it cos its so hard. Also when you do it once you will do it again. Chicken doesnt take you out of ketosis, well it didnt me.

Mumto6 · 30/04/2012 20:45

Hi all,
I've spent the last few hours reading this thread and hope if I ask very nicely I'll be allowed in.

Bit of background

I'm 32 years old, 5"10 and 17st 3lbs

As you've guessed by name I've got 6 children

I'm at the end of day one feel ok, much more inspired after reading the whole of this thread.

This weight has to GO !!!! I've been overweight since having my 3 child and have yoyo'd up and down but today was the first day (morning) that I couldn't look people in the eye on the school run, felt like the whole playground was watching me.

Came home and had a shake the turned on the kinect and decided to open the your shape game that was bought for me 2 years ago. Spent the half hour workout in tears, not through exercise pain but if anyone knows the game you'll know that it scans your body and puts your image next to and personal trainer who you then have to mirror movements. An amazing concept. But way too many wake up calls for me in one day.

I hope to regularly update weight loss as well as read them and also motivate other as I have been motivated by you :-)

maytheoddsbeeverinyourfavour · 30/04/2012 21:02

I just thought I'd pop in again to see how your all doing and wish the newbies luck Grin

I've dipped in and out of the thread, but I've been doing a vlcd since jan 2nd and I'm still going strong, no cheating, and I'm feeling great Smile

Ps mumto6 I'm the same age as you and have six children too! Good luck with the diet I'm sure you'll do great, and honestly it is so worth it

Mumto6 · 30/04/2012 21:06

Thanks maytheoddsbeeverinyourfavour, how old are your children if you don't mind me asking?

I'm hoping that the simplicity of the diet keeps me going after all still have to cook for 7 other people sighs

maytheoddsbeeverinyourfavour · 30/04/2012 21:13

Not at all they're 14 13 9 6 3 and 15 months Smile

I do love the simplicity of the diet and I find that ketosis means I'm just not interested in food, I can see it cook it smell it and most of the time it just doesn't bother me. I do sometimes have protein and veg just so I can eat with them all...the younger ones are too young to understand what I'm doing!

How old are your lo's? I hope you get into ketosis nice and quickly, it really makes all the difference, once you get there it's mostly plain sailing Grin I feel a million times better since starting

Mumto6 · 30/04/2012 21:38

Mine are 15,14,13,12, 5 and 18months

4 girls and 2 boys.

I did lighterlife a few years ago lost 2 stone in 6 weeks then fell pregnant grrrr, end of the line now though I seem to gain 2 stubborn stone with each pregnancy.

My natural weight where I can usually with some effort get to is 14.7 I look ok there too and feel 'normal' but I can get the the 13.7 mark where i look extremely healthy but this time want to get to 12.9 just so I have a 'safe zone'

Hoping mid to late August to get as close as I can so I can at least spend some of the summer not self conscious.

Kellymarie81 · 30/04/2012 22:14

I have been having ready made cartons so far but tried chocolate orange powder shake today and didn't like it as much. Think I would prefer it if it was warm. Can you use warm water or heat it up at all ?

cockneydad · 30/04/2012 23:44

hey all - lots of activity here now ! Weigh in tomorrow for me - 3 months in, nearly 3 stone lost. Currently on step 2 (skipped 1), having done Sole Source + for 7 weeks. Good luck all !

DucketyDuckDuck · 01/05/2012 09:30

Hi all,

Day 2. I am puzzled - by how OK I feel! Not hungry at all yet. But I have made sure to drink the required water. I usually feel dehydrated and headachey at this point of a diet. This must be the difference. Who would have thought following the instructions would work - a big DOH to me.

It was good yesterday not to have to think about what I can and can't eat, how fattening it is, how fat I am blah blah blah.

Doing Sole Source 3 a day. Bit scared of feeling positive, but not as sceptical as I was before I started!

Bye for now.

Juma · 01/05/2012 09:33

Hi Kelliemarie, I tried using hot water to make the chocolate shake (somebody told me it was nice) but I thought it was awful. I tried the choc orange and didn't like it at all. I love the chocolate one blended with lots of crushed ice. I'm going to try the cartons, for when I'm out and about, but there doesn't look to be that much in a carton?
Good luck tomorrow cockneydad, hope you have another good result.
btw I have 2 children aged 24 & 19 - I feel quite inadequate compared to you wonderful ladies :] Good luck to you all & 'Think Thin'
Jx

Mumto6 · 01/05/2012 10:49

Day 2 for me too DucketyDuckDuck, feel ok no headaches which is a bonus, I've always struggled with drinking water.

Are we allowed low calorie drinks ?

Laura1403 · 01/05/2012 14:39

Hi everyone
I have started CWP today feeling really positive about it especially after reading everyones posts. I think it is goin to help me keep motivated. Everyone is doing really well.

Mumto6 · 01/05/2012 16:05

Good luck Laura.

DucketyDuckDuck · 01/05/2012 16:52

Mumto6 (great name!) I am drinking diet coke and black coffee on top of two litres of water.

Not sure if you are supposed to have diet coke - but I just can't give that up just yet.

So far so good....my weak point will be Friday night, so intend to be on here. If I can get through Friday night the weekend should just follow on.

Good Luck all - back tomorrow

xxx

Mumto6 · 01/05/2012 18:52

Same as me with the diet come then.

My problem is evenings, even though I Have my last shake while cooking I still feel absolutely ravenous although I'm only on day 2 so am yet still undecided as to whether I'm actually hungry or If I think I am.

cockneydad · 01/05/2012 21:36

A top tip on diet pop - some evidence apparently suggests that citric acid - which is in many diet drinks and fruit squash - can be bad for staying in ketosis. However, some diet pop - mainly Coke zero or 'generic' zero has no citric acid. I tend to drink a supermarket version of coke zero, it's not been a problem. I have also occasionally had some other diet pop that does have citric acid and it's been OK. Got weighed a day earlier than normal = 1 and 3/4 lb lost in 6 days - not too bad. Good luck all !

Kellymarie81 · 01/05/2012 21:48

Thanks juma, will try shakes with some crushed ice to see if that's nice. I do like the chocolate cartons though. They are handy for taking out with you and also means less dishes lol. I am on day 5 now and must say I am not really feeling hungry. First weigh in Thursday and really looking forward to it.

Laura1403 · 02/05/2012 07:07

I found my first night really hard had to go to bed early hope it gets better. Dnt feel hungry this morning tho which is a surprise. Hope all this is gonna pay off monday counting down the days.

cockneydad · 02/05/2012 07:28

Good luck Laura - it gets easier !

Crushed ice and a blender is the way to go for the powder shakes - it makes them much nicer and more substantial !

mumof3boys01 · 02/05/2012 09:00

Wow this thread has got really busy, started again this Monday have gone to a new councilor she seems really nice. Can't keep on with all this stopping and starting again at the moment i have lost 1st 10lbs if i had not been fanning around would of probably been on my way to losing 3-4st.Really would love to be able to have another baby which at my weight would not be a good idea so have a goal to focus on.

DucketyDuckDuck · 02/05/2012 09:03

Morning all! Rough night with darling DD. I am sat downstairs shattered and sulking drinking black coffee. She is upstairs watching Peppa. Today will be a good test, I would usually get straight on the sugary stuff on a day like today. Not going to do it.

I struggled to get back to sleep after being kept awake for 2 hours (Grrrr) I was cold I think and couldn't settle. I am sure it will pass.

Thanks for the coke tips cockneydad, I am abit addicted and not ready to kick that habit yet. Well done on the early weigh in.

Positive vibes to you all....

Juma · 02/05/2012 10:09

Good morning all :) Hey cockneydad -you're on a roll - well done- how much is that now?
I'd never realised how so many people are hooked on the Pepsi/Coke drinks - I think it must be a generation thing - I'm probs a good bit older than most of you and was brought up on Dandylion & Burdock!!
Stay strong everyone - it'll be worth it
Jx

Mumto6 · 02/05/2012 16:19

Day 3 still feel like I'm suffering, can't wait for ketosis to kick in.

Have to get weighed 2 days early (so Friday) hopefully that will invoke some motivation.

DucketyDuckDuck · 02/05/2012 16:45

Oooo Juma - Dandelion and Burdock - do you remember the pop man coming round!!

Thats what D & B always makes me think of.
