I weigh over 25 stones. I expect to weigh more than this on New Years Day after all the festive scoff is over. Xmas Grin

I am going to start the Cambridge Diet - Sole Source - on New Years Day.

I have found my Consultant and we have met, she lost 13 stones in 9 months and has kept the weight off for over 7 years!

4 Cambridge choc mint shakes per day.

3 - 4 litres of water per day.

Anybody else planning on starting The Cambridge Diet in 2012? Come join me and we can support each other.

Xmas Smile

Hi everyone,

I really need help to get through this diet. I'm on my 4th day and really struggling. I'm meant to have 4 sachets a day but have been having 1 1/2 as I just can't stomach them. They are making me feel physically sick to the point where I can't eat them anymore. Just been skipping them which I think is making me feel worse!!

Ive eat 2 celery sticks (not sure if that is allowed??) just need help?
Is this normal? Does it get easier? Does anyone else detest them?

I haven't even hit ketosis yet- am I meant to??

Sorry to sound so negative but I just don't know what to do?

Hi Lucyloo are you on 4 shakes a day or 3 shakes and a porridge / soup ? You need to make sure you mix the shakes with the specified amount of water (assuming you are not using the ready made ones) and give them a good whisk / use a blender. You MUST have the products for this to work - if you really cant stand the flavours, I would go back to your consultant to swap them for some others.

The porridge is an acquired taste - some hate it - I actually quite like it. You can have porridge or shakes or soups at this stage - they are effectively interchangeable. After 2 weeks or so, you can have bars too.

I wouldn't have thought that a little celery would cause any damage. I would give your consultant a ring if you are struggling - it can take 3/4 days to get into ketosis and to start feeling better.

Hope that helps !

Juma · 26/04/2012 13:45

Hi Lucyloo, which flavours of shakes and soups have you tried? I spent the first week experimenting and really disliked the porridge but finally got in down to my favourites of the chocolate & toffee and walnut shakes and Tomato & the Oriental Chilli soups.(the secret with the shakes lies in crushed ice!) Perhaps if you did SS plus, then you have a small meal to look forward to? Honestly, sometimes it's just the thought of having some nice tuna or grilled chicken at tea time that keeps me on track! But as Cockneydad says, you should ring your consultant for advice (and to swap satchets).
Hope this helps, stick with it & come back and talk to us

Good advice from Juma - mixing ice with the shakes and blending it, makes them a lot nicer. Also, Sole Source+ is just as effective as Sole Source - my consultant put me straight on Sole Source + - I don't think I could have not had my little meal in the evening.

Morning all.

Received my Exante delivery. Mentally preparing myself for Monday, trying to focus on 10 days after that, knowing that there should be a difference by then.

Still haven't mentioned it to DH, I think I am embarassed. I have failed so many times, after making big statements. I think, I may just start it and wait for him to notice. He works long hours, so very rarely sees me eat anyway. That has been rather convenient for all the wrong reasons.

Need to buy some bottled water over the weekend, so that I can reuse the bottles to make sure I drink the right amount.

One day at a time - have a good weekend all.

xx

Juma · 27/04/2012 09:15

Hi Duckety, good luck - I'm sending loads of positive vibes over the net!! You do the right thing to focus on 10 days ahead, by then you will have acheived a weight loss, then that's 10 days out of the way. I think of it as 10 days in the bank. Every day that goes by is another in the bank:)It's hard but CWP is a means to an end and for me I would prefer to go for a strict diet for a shorter time than waffle around for the next 12 months!
It's good that you can make something positive out of your DH working long hours - hope he notices once the pounds start coming off haha! If your anything like me though, he will notice your improved mood long before the physical changes:)
Stay strong

Kellymarie81 · 27/04/2012 11:14

Hi all, new to this site and just started Cambridge diet today. I had a baby in January and before I had the baby I weighed around 10st 7lbs. After the baby I weigh 15st 3.5lbs. Need to get the weight off quick as I hate being this weight. You have all done so well so hopefully I will too. K x

Juma · 27/04/2012 13:11

Hi All, Shame about the blip Micca, but the good thing about this programme is that you can get straight back on it before you do too much harm. May have a blip myself this weekend - 18th birthday party etc...
Welcome Kellymarie, hope your first day goes well. At least with a 3month old baby you will be kept busy :)
Stay positive

Sugarplum183 · 27/04/2012 16:26

Hi,

I started the Cambridge plan 10th April and so far so good, at my last weigh in I had lost 11lbs in 11 days. This week though has been a bit tougher, back to having headaches, tired, indigestion - how I don't know not eating much!!! And to top it off I am hungry - my tum actually growls. Has anybody else noticed that thier symptoms changed like this. I am hoping to get my stone at my weigh in tomorrow, so I know it's worth doing. I can actually see the results, less puffy i'd go with.

I'm on the 810 programme...xx

lucyloo0907 · 27/04/2012 19:03

Welcome newbies!!:)

I woke up today feeling great (thank god) as was nearly ready to give up!!

I must be in Ketosis and have my weigh in tomorrow!

Thank you everybody for your positive, helpful comments it got me through.

Glad to hear you're feeling better Lucyloo - the first few days are very tough - I felt terrible on day 3 in particular ! Good luck at the weigh in !

Juma · 28/04/2012 09:58

Morning Everyone :o
Hi Lucyloo, best of luck at the scales

Kellymarie81 · 29/04/2012 18:25

Thanks juma. I am now on day 3 and coping ok with the hunger so far. Just keep filling up on water. Looking forward to weigh in on Thursday. Think this could be the diet for me. I like knowing what to eat everyday and not having to plan meals. Also, don't get a lot of time to exercise except from walking with baby so the fact I am not supposed to do strenuous exercise on this diet is ideal. Good luck everyone !!! :)

Hi everyone

Lost 6lbs in my first weigh in!!!!! Very happy with that. My bf lost 7lbs too :)

Found weekend quite hard but we got through.

Have discovered ready made carton shakes and love them, I actually look forward to drinking them I wish I had tried them earlier.

Hope everyone else is doing well still

Juma · 30/04/2012 10:01

Hi Kellymarie - pleased you've settled into it now - I agree with you in that you don't have to plan very much - that's what first appealed to me, and it doesn't seem to bother me cooking for other people. Good luck with your weigh in on Thursday
Lucyloo! what a result well done.(and the BF too) great that you can support each other:) I've never tried the cartons, think i will next time I buy. My consultant is on hols so I had to buy double quanitities last time. Weekend are definately the hardest, but don't you feel good on Monday morning when you've been good? - it sets you up for the rest of the week.
Take care all
Jx

cockneydad · 30/04/2012 12:23

Hi lucy ! Congratulations, sounds like you are doing well, you have got through the worst part! After 2 weeks you can have bars - they are pretty good, with a lot of flavours to choose from.

Carly1986 · 30/04/2012 14:57

Hey Everyone,
Wanted to join thsi thread as need some suppourt!
I'm on day 4 of the cambridge diet and I'm finding it so hard! I cant go a day without cheating!! not major cheating but for instance yesterday my boyfriend and dad had a roast and I had one potato! my boyfriend had some m and ms so I had one! I just cant myself picking!!!
I've lost 5 pounds though so it is working I just feel bad as I'm not 100% sticking to it by having little slip ups!
Can someone also tell me why your not allowed diet drinks?? (pepsi max, diet coke) I'm finding drinking the water very hard as well!
Please help! xxx

happyhappymummy · 30/04/2012 16:03

Just thought Id pop in on this thread to give a little help to you all.
Havnt read the whole thread.
Secrets!
Chew chewing gum, it helps with the bad taste in your mouth and is nice when you need a little taste.
I drank diet coke at times.
Milk in my coffee (just 2 a day)
Blend some ice with your shakes and chilli is nice with added pepper.
I lost 5 stone.
Good luck ladies and well done so far.
A tip from me Dont cheat cos it will get worse and will effect your weight loss and its not worth all of the hard work, cos I know how hard it is. Also the cost. So that one potato or that one sweet isnt worth it trust me. Also its better to go cold turkey. Take your mind away from food all together :)

Carly1986 · 30/04/2012 16:14

Hi Happyhappymummy thank you for the reply!
I know the cheating isnt worth it its just so hard!!! I try to stay away from situations where people are eating but I cant expect people to stop eating around me all the time lol.
I think being able to drink diet drinks will help alot but I was told I couldnt?? losing 5 stone is amazing!!! well done! xxx

happyhappymummy · 30/04/2012 16:20

I know its hard! You can do this!!
Its something you have to set in your head. Yes you are going to be in situation where people are eating. Make sure you have your shake before hand. Drink water and chew gum. Focus while you are there in these situations.
The more you think about what your not allowed the harder it is.
Every day is a step closer.
I started the diet when my husband left. I look back and think how the hell did I do that. I also went to a wedding and didnt eat.
Trust me the end result is amazing!!
I was told about the diet drinks too. I would treat myself after weigh in.
If you really feel you need something (trust me its easier not to ) replace a shake for some chicken. I found my taking away all food made me focus better.
You can do it :)

Carly1986 · 30/04/2012 16:29

Thank you! just listening to you is helping already which is why I joined this forum!
I know I need to do something about weight! I too went through a break up which is why I piled the weight on through comfort eating!
I'm disgusted with myself for how big I've let myself get but I am determined to shift the weight! it isb getting easier as the days go on but I'm still constanly hungry! when will this pass??? xxx

happyhappymummy · 30/04/2012 16:43

Your welcome!
Im sure this forum will keep you focused :)
Dont think about what you are now think about what you are going to be. At goal!
You follow this diet and you will get there. That simple :)
The first week was the hardest.
The second and so on gets easier, as you learn to live without it.
How much do you need to lose?
How far along are you?
