GoingForGoalWeight · 11/12/2011 23:04

I weigh over 25 stones. I expect to weigh more than this on New Years Day after all the festive scoff is over. Xmas Grin

I am going to start the Cambridge Diet - Sole Source - on New Years Day.

I have found my Consultant and we have met, she lost 13 stones in 9 months and has kept the weight off for over 7 years!

4 Cambridge choc mint shakes per day.

3 - 4 litres of water per day.

Anybody else planning on starting The Cambridge Diet in 2012? Come join me and we can support each other.

Xmas Smile

Coming to the end of day three ,finding it pretty easy ,wondering if am doing something wrong ! Doing ss plus having sall meal at night ,chicken breast and broccoli ,tuna ,lettuce ,red cabbage ,then wee bit of fish tonight .going well touch wood it works :)

goingbacktowork · 03/04/2012 08:27

how much can you have for the ss+ meal?

Juma · 03/04/2012 11:21

I know Morganvan, I have found it easier than I imagined. Your approach is the same as mine I have my small meal when everyone else is eating in the evening and finding the options of chicken, tuna, eggs & prawns okay. I thought I would miss fruit more than I have coz I used to eat enough to keep a small greengrocers in business! If we stick to the plan it WILL work!
Hi Going, for SS plus you can have a meal of no more than 200kcals - thats with 3 products OR you can have 4 products plus 200ml of skimmed milk. This is day 6 for me eek! one more before weigh in. Keep Strong!!

Overtiredmum · 03/04/2012 20:12

You're all doing really well.

Yes, it can be hard, but having a goal to work towards can help. I wanted to lose a minimum of 2 stone, and my motivation was/is my trip to Scotland for Easter. I reached (and slightly exceeded) my target and now want to do another stone, motivation is our party at the beginning of June. I have bought four (yes 4!!!) dresses for the party - 3 fit perfectly, the other, the zip just won't do all the way up. I want to be able to pick which one of those 4 dresses to wear!

My motivation then to keep it off - Egypt next Easter Grin

I am now calorie counting, so completely off CD, but I am still following the rules (ish!) Not eating many carbs, following mainly high protein and green salad/veg. Still drinking 3-4 pints of water a day and before I eat anything I ask myself do I really want it, or am I just having it for the sake of it?! if I'm in any doubt at all, I glug a large glass of water and wait 10 minutes - that usually does the trick!

Cockneydad - how did your hospital tests go? OK, I hope x

Morganvan · 03/04/2012 21:18

Going ,I find it easier when being allowed a small meal in evening ,gets me through the day .Cant wait to hear how much you have lost Juma ! My weigh in is on Friday .Well done overtired ! How long did it take to lose two stone ? I thought I was bad having two dresses :)

Overtiredmum · 03/04/2012 21:43

It took me eight weeks to lose 2 stone, then switched to calorie counting, and am steadily losing 1-1.5lbs per week, so have lost another 7lbs in that time, although I feel like I have lost more.

Looking forward to hearing about all your losses!

Juma · 03/04/2012 22:41

Wow! overtired -I would be thrilled to lose 2st in 8 weeks! pleased to hear you are still losing even though its not with CW.
I'm now worried about getting to see my consultant tomo - we've had 6inches of snow up here in the sticks and its still blowing a blizzard.
Fingers crossed.
Hey Cockneydad, where are you?
J x

cockneydad · 04/04/2012 15:20

I am here ! Weight in tonight - not had a great week - not done anything different, but only appear to have dropped a pound or so. I did spend most of last weekend digging though, so might have gained a little muscle density. This Friday will be end of week 9 - so far 2 stone and 2.5 pounds down - need to do about the same again before I begin to approach something I can live with !

Juma · 04/04/2012 19:53

Hey Cockneydad - a pound is a pound afterall! I would love to think I could lose 2 st in just 9 weeks - you're doing great. I've just been weighed for my first week and lost 6.5lbs. (why couldn't it have been half a stone ha ha! psychologically it seems a lot more) however it's just about 25% of what I need to lose so I'm pretty pleased with that.Just had a chuckle - my hubby heard me say I was 'in ketosis' - he says it sounds like a Greek Island - I WISH :o
Stay in the groove everyone

Hi all :)
Im on my first day of CD, been searching internet for a support/chat group and im over the moon ive found this one!!
Ive just spent over an hour reading threw all the posts, can i just say good job everyone!
Im hopin to lose 4 stone, im 23 and this is my first low carb strict diet, ive followed slimming world for the last 2 years but laziness, being content with my bf and working unsociable hours saw me reach 16 stone before i knew it .....
Any advice, tips and convo wud b massively appreciated :)

Juma · 04/04/2012 20:30

Hi Cl4ire, welcome onboard! You'll find this a friendly & positive group (i've noticed lots of others are very negative which is the last thing we want. Most people will tell you it gets easier and it does - as your body adjusts. I'm just into my first week but there's others who have a lot more experience so if you run into trouble just ask! The main thing I would say is make sure you drink plenty of water. Good Luck

Cl4ire · 04/04/2012 21:23

thanx juma :) good luck to you aswell!
im feel this first day has gone ok, however, i had a banana flavoured shake for dinner which i did not like at all and it knocked me sick for a while, i do think it was the flavour and nothing to do with the diet, and apart from that ive been ok, serving food is part of my job so work for me will be my toughest time, but i will lose weight i will, i will, i will!! :)

Juma · 04/04/2012 21:37

Yes Cl4ire you will! It takes the first week to sort out what you do and don't like with the products. I really can't do the porridges. But Choc, Butterscotch,Toffee & Walnut shakes are great. Spicy Tom and Oriental Chilli soups are my fave. Sorry to hear you're around food - that's a toughie.
You can do it - just think of the summer and being nice & slinky!
Jx

Overtiredmum · 04/04/2012 22:47

At the beginning, you really just need to take it one day at a time - before you know it, you'll be two weeks in, nearly lost your first stone and you're not even thinking about what you're doing.

When you get those first comments of "have you lost weight?" is makes it all worth it, and spurns you on.

I am off CD now, and calorie counting, but even now I still struggle to have something I know I really shouldn't, even if its within my allowances!

As Juma said, the most important thing is the water. If you think you're going to stray - have a glass of water and wait 10 minutes.

Find yourself your dream outfit on the internet and stick a picture of it somewhere you will see it all the time.

I didn't get on with any of the soups or porridges - just stuck to shakes and tetras, and then added bars after 3 weeks. Even now, I still have some bars in the fridge, so if I want some chocolate, I'll have half a bar, its just enough to satisfy my craving, but i know its better for me.

Keep up the good work everyone! Ax

Going2doitthistime · 04/04/2012 22:48

Hi all, so pleased to find positive people doing CD :) I'm on day 10 and so far lost 11lb. Need to lose another 2.5 stone ish. Clothes feeling better already and can now do up my work trousers :) :)
Just wondered if anyone could advise if their weight loss slowed after having a Cambridge bar instead of just shakes? I'm currently doing SS 3 shakes a day but considering introducing a bar a day now I'm past my first week.
Any advice greatly appreciated :)

Morganvan · 05/04/2012 00:45

You are doing fantastic cockney dad wish it was me lol I am struggling tonight want chocolate ! :). Hey Juma ,how did you get on ?

cockneydad · 05/04/2012 08:05

Thanks all - actually, I got it wrong in my earlier post. I lost 1.5 pounds this week, Friday is the end of week 9 / beginning week 10, to date I have lost 2 stone 5 pounds on sole source + (with a few very little low carb extras when the need arises!).

Morganvan - my CD consultant has a top tip - you can have a little teeny bit of 70% DARK chocolate and get away with it - but is has to be dark and high cocoa content (70%+) - a thin piece the size of a thumb-nail for example.

Cl4ire · 05/04/2012 08:33

Thanx OTM thats what my consultant said just take 1 day at a time ... Im about to try my first porridge this morning.
Thats a really good idea about the dream outfit, im goin to spend an hour before work having a good look!!

Cl4ire · 05/04/2012 08:37

Yes JUMA it is a bit of a struggle not picking and ordering yourself a nice big plate of dinner while at work but i hav told all the girls in kitchen not to let me haha ....
I dont mind drinking water so i suppose thats a plus i know some ppl really struggle .... How are you feeling today?

Juma · 05/04/2012 10:04

I feel good today! Full of positivity and hope everyone else is too. The snow has nearly gone and its a beautiful Spring day!
Morganvan - I lost 6.5lbs so I'm a bit chuffed :)
Just had the cappucino shake for brekkie which I enjoyed (very strong flavour).
Decided I'm going to start preparing my feet and legs for the unveiling when the summer arrives. So I'm using all the lovely lotions and potion I got for Christmas - it fills in that time in the evening when I get the munchies.
Going2 - I was told by my consultant yesterday that it's best not to start on the bars until week 3 and then only one a day. So I'm going to try them soon.
Have a good day
Jx

cockneydad · 05/04/2012 11:34

Well done Juma - the bars are quite good - I have one a day, I really like the crunchy chocolate-mint ones, it is almost like having a chocolate bar !

Going2doitthistime · 05/04/2012 13:59

Thanks Juma, will avoid for now then. When I do I'll get the mint ones to try, thanks Cockneydad. I saw the bit about lotions, does anyone else experience really dry skin, especially on the hands? Wondered if it was a typical thing or if it's just me. You are all doing brilliant! Reading your posts help keeps the positivity up :)

Juma · 05/04/2012 18:09

Hey Going2 - I haven't noticed my skin drying since I started and thanks Cockneydad - crunchy chocolate mint bar sounds great. I was suprised how heavy they felt so hoping they fill you up:)
Is everyone gearing themselves up for the Easter weekend? - could be a struggle for us what with all the chocolate about and visiting families that always seem to be hungry. Hope the weather keeps fine then at least we can get out and walk or something! Believe it or not, my mum still buys me an Easter Egg (I'm 54!) this time she's treated me to a new lipstick - cheers mum xx

Morganvan · 05/04/2012 18:40

Well done Juma ! I get my first weigh in tomorrow night ,bit nervous .i was starving last night so too some extra chicken ,had to or I would have gone off rails :( I do feel as if I have lost a bit ,hope so .
I am working Saturday and going to have choc mint shakes for my Easter :)

Juma · 05/04/2012 20:31

Thanks Morganvan, best of luck for tomo, but if all you've had extra is a bit of chicken I'm sure you'll see a good result.
I've just tried the choc orange shake and don't really like it - left a strange taste in the mouth:(
Sending positive vibes via the net
