I weigh over 25 stones. I expect to weigh more than this on New Years Day after all the festive scoff is over. Xmas Grin

I am going to start the Cambridge Diet - Sole Source - on New Years Day.

I have found my Consultant and we have met, she lost 13 stones in 9 months and has kept the weight off for over 7 years!

4 Cambridge choc mint shakes per day.

3 - 4 litres of water per day.

Anybody else planning on starting The Cambridge Diet in 2012? Come join me and we can support each other.

Xmas Smile

I'm on SS +, so having a little meal in the evening. Hoping day 6 will be a bit easier again, 5 was OK, I ate a little meat though when I started feeling wobbly this afternoon. I thought the ketosis might have kicked in completely by now, I'm feel better than I did on day 2 or 3, but still struggling a little bit.

Overtiredmum · 07/02/2012 19:57

You have to remember that everyone is different so yes, ketosis would normally kick in around Day 4, it doesn't mean it will for everyone. But the positive thing to hold on to is that you are feeling better, so tomorrow will be even better. How much water are you drinking?

cockneydad · 07/02/2012 20:29

Thanks Overtired - I'm drinking quite a lot - I reckon 3.5 litres + so far today.

Overtiredmum · 07/02/2012 20:34

Thats good, the more the better really. I usually aim for 4 litres a day of just water, then I have black teas/coffees in addition to this. I need caffeine to get through my day Grin

Starreaching · 07/02/2012 21:31

Thanks Overtired! Yes, it's my first weigh in so I don't expect the numbers to be so good next time! It made all the tears and struggles of the first few days feel worth it though!

Cockneydad - sorry you're finding the going so tough. Are you just having shakes? I couldn't really get on with those at first but I found the soups were fantastic at filling me up. Maybe it was psychological as they were hot and felt like a proper meal but it did help. I also made a bit of a game of waiting as long as I could before each 'meal' so I didn't use up the days supply too quickly. Hope you hit ketosis soon and remember that the weigh in will give you a real boost too!

Panadbois · 08/02/2012 08:28

Well, just enjoyed my last bowl of fruit n fibre and a cup of tea with milk in. I'm gonna miss my cup of tea (nn "panad" means cuppa) Brew

I'm really happy about stopping my wine drinking though, as this is probably why I've put weight on in the first place. I suppose this is why I think that this diet will help me more as you can cheat with SW.

Will look in again this afternoon. My appointment is for ten this morning, so see you later Smile

cockneydad · 08/02/2012 08:55

Just starting day 6. Tiredness has pretty much gone, still having hunger pangs and struggling not to occasionally eat some lean meat, even though I am on SS+. Having said that, I have lost 6.5 pounds so far, so something is working (I am wondering whether it would be worth getting some ketosis test sticks). Seeing consultant this evening.

cockneydad · 08/02/2012 09:20

Has anyone else still been struggling with hunger (actual hunger, no just wanting the experience of eating) by day 5/6 ? I am beginning to really struggle. If this continues, I think I might go back to low carb diet.

cockneydad · 08/02/2012 11:43

Hi Star - I forgot to mention - I am doing SS +, porridge for breakfast, 2 shakes and small meal in the evening. I have a few soups too and have the occasional one.

Toobig4school · 08/02/2012 12:05

I was hungry for that whole week to the point I went to bed with my stomach proper churning. Don't worry about it just don't give up you have come so far and if the weight is coming off u must be in ketosis I would definetley buy some strips about £5 I use them just to reassure myself I haven't woken up in my sleep and binged

cockneydad · 08/02/2012 12:07

Thanks Toobig - I will stick at it for as long as I can, just having a bit of a wobble ! I am seeing my consultant later on (who is lovely) - so I hope she can keep me on the straight and narrow !

Panadbois · 08/02/2012 13:14

Well I'm all set! I'm having my first shake now for lunch. Do you really just put 8 fl oz of water in the mix? Doesn't look like a lot Confused

My consultant is lovely to cockneydad, and surprisingly realistic, telling me that the first three days will be hell. It wasn't a big sales talk tbh, different to the LL introduction I had on Saturday. Also, she told me I could have a cup of tea with skimmed which I'm ecstatic about.

Can anyone recommend a timetable for me? I only get three packs, and I usuall eat four meals a day. Any more tips?

gloriana · 08/02/2012 13:40

Hello everybody - welcome to panadbois! You have joined a wonderful supportive thread Smile.

I have been a bit down as last weigh in I only lost 1.6lbs and was a bit disappointed considering that I only had 2 glasses of wine that were really bad for me during the entire week. But feeling very positive now and can't believe how motivated I am to get things done and not at all like my normal self which is very much to leave things til later.

Cockneydad - I was v hungry in the first week and definitely had to time my bedtime to when the first tummy rumbles started so that I could get to sleep before being properly starving. Still get hungry now but can easily put it off by drinking lots of water especially fizzy water which is really filling.

Going - you are doing brilliantly and I am so impressed by your commitment - your enthusiasm is contagious!

cockneydad · 08/02/2012 14:52

Thanks for that Gloriana - not feeling like it is just me being weak !

Panadbois - hope all goes well - my consultant recommends eating every 4 hours (in my case 3 CD products and a small meal, which I have in the evening). This should minimize sugar crashes etc.

Hope all is well GFGW !

GoingForGoalWeight · 08/02/2012 16:57

Hi lovlies :)

I was unwell the last two days. Awful sickness but not actually sick. Consultant said could be a bug trying to get me but the nutrition stopped it. :)

I think you're all doing so brilliant on your plans, its really keeping me on track x

I love reading your posts.
Welcome newbies lovely to see you x :)

Welcome Panadbois! I am also on 3 packs a day, and am SS+. I have my first pack around 12.30-1pm, my second around about now, and my third around 8.30-9pm. I am fortunate that my work patterns mean I am now sitting around at home with the DC and DH are having their evening meal, although it can make it slightly harder at weekends, as I have to eat with the DC, as they are quite an impressionable age.

Going, you have my absolute sympathies, I have felt like that all day today, sick and not myself at all, but can't quite put my finger on what or why. Hopefully, will feel better tomorrow.

Gloriana, I totally agree, it can be really disappointing when you have a small number on weigh-in day - I myself only had 1lb this week, although I had an inch loss around my waist, so I know something is definitely happening.

I have a massive list at home (which is growing by the day!!) of jobs I want to get done around the house. Much to DH's disappointment, I went to B&Q yesterday and brought lots of paint and brushes, so this weekend the evenings will be spent doing all the gloss painting and DH lots of doors etc! Think I am really starting my spring clean early, but I don't want to waste this sudden burst of energy!

Am so pleased it's half term next week, I won't be getting any lie-ins, but just to not have to get up early and chase the DC out the door at 8am will be marvelous!

cockneydad · 08/02/2012 18:53

Back from consultant, I have lost 6 pounds in 6 days, so quite good going (my BMI is mid 30s). Feeling a bit better about things now and have some ideas on coping with energy levels dropping mid morning/mid afternoon.

Overtiredmum · 08/02/2012 18:54

Well done Cockneydad, thats a great loss for you.

cockneydad · 08/02/2012 19:42

Thanks Overtired - I'm hoping it will get a little easier in week 2, week 1 was a bit of a rough ride !!

Overtiredmum · 08/02/2012 19:59

It certainly hasn't been very kind to you! This diet isn't for everyone, your head really has to be in the right place, sometimes its not always about the hunger. Sometimes, you may not be hungry at all, but if you don't get over the mental image of not eating, then it just doesn't work.

You, however, seem to be getting there, and 6lbs is great. Did your CDC suggest trying Step 2? The losses are not really any different from SS+, especially if you have quite a bit to lose.

Panadbois · 08/02/2012 20:23

Thanks overtired. I've waited until now to have my tomato soup Hmm

Good to hear about everyone's experiences.

Overtiredmum · 08/02/2012 20:34

Not pleasant?

Never got on with the soups, so I purely live on the shakes, tetras and bars. I do have small meals at weekends though, when I'm around the kids. I work evenings, so evening meals are not generally an issue for me.

Panadbois · 08/02/2012 21:13

I didn't like the texture much, had to keep on stiring it, sipping, stiring or it was pretty yuck. The taste was ok, I'll try the chicken tomorrow night.

What would you call a light meal?? could I have some chicken salad? I don't like fish. I suppose I need to do ss for a while yet. When did you start?

Found this artice on CD
www.dailyrecord.co.uk/life/women/2012/02/07/drink-yourself-thinner-with-liquid-diet-plans-86908-23739579/

Overtiredmum · 08/02/2012 22:14

I always used to smother the soups with pepper to give them some taste, but they really used to make me gag. In all, the only ones I could tolerate were the chicken and vegetable soups.

Yes, a light meal is either chicken breast or white fish, with either green salad or green vegs (as per the listings). My DC are 6 and nearly 3, and already know that I do not eat the same as them, which concerned me, so when I am home with them, make an effort to have something with them.

This weekend will be slightly more difficult, as we have a friend staying with us all weekend, which usually results in copious amounts of wine ;)) However, I have already suggested that I cook them a meal, and I'll just have something light, and I will make a glass of red last me the evening as a treat. Sunday I will cook a roast chicken, so again, that will be OK, I'll just have meat and veg. Washed down with litres of sparkling water!

I started exactly a month ago today. Have lost 16lbs so far, and 4 inches off my waist. My target weight is 10 st 6lbs, so I have 21 lbs to go. I'd love to be a size 10, but the last time I was one of those was about 15 years ago and very much pre-children! I am thinking a size 12 is realistic for me. I have already dropped one dress size to a 14 so Grin. DH has promised me I can go out and replace my entire wardrobe once I get to target.

My aim is to finish CD by the end of March, and then switch to either calorie counting or Weightwatchers. I usually go on to lose another stone when I finish, so finished crossed. We are going away for the week at Easter and although I will still be careful and probably only have an evening meal, I don't want to be too constrained to what I am eating.

Panadbois · 09/02/2012 08:23

My DC are 11 and 13, and they know that this is drastic action.

Thats a good weight loss, congrats!! I hope mine will be just as good.

DH will have to cook Sunday lunch this week, and I'll encourage him to do roast pork, as I don't like it! They had chips kast night, and the viniger smell was heavenly! But, I didn't cheat. (wouldn't be a good sign if I failed on my first day would it)

Porridge this moring........I'll check in later to see everybody's progress Smile
