I want to lose a stone - care to join me?

This is the first time i've joined in on a thread with others and I'm hoping the mutual support will give me more motivation.

I've realised that I've gradually put on a stone and I want to stop expanding and start decreasing! My clothes feel tight and uncomfortable and I need to do something about it now. Its about 6 weeks until the whole Xmas things starts to go into overdrive and I want to do some damage limitation before then.

I'm going through quite a stressful thing at the moment which is my excuse for gorging on rubbish and indulging in that extra glass of wine. IT HAS TO STOP NOW.

So I've ordered the Davina DVDs (Power of 30 and the 30 minute work outs) and aim to eat about 1500 cals per day. I want to lose 1.5lbs a week over the next 6 weeks. Ok it's not the stone I'm really after but with Xmas in the way I need to be realistic.

Anyone care to join me?

I lost another 3.5lbs this week but I can't take the credit because I was ill and couldn't keep anything down! Plus what I did eat was stodge. Went to my weigh in not knowing whether I'd have gained or lost so quite glad. Only 0.5lb to go until I've lost 10% of my body weight! Current total is 1st 4.5lbs. Would love it to be 1.5st before Christmas but don't think it will happen! Hope everyone's doing well - only a couple of weeks to go till mince-pie fest!

Sorry you've been ill pippa, although good weight loss, ha ha Xmas Smile. That is so much weight that you've lost overall.

So....weigh in this morning and......I've GAINED 2.5lbs !!!! Xmas Shock

Haven't had a bad week, so not really sure why - but a little disappointing - trying to keep a long term perspective (I'm generally going down rather than up), but a bit discouraging.......hey ho.

Entropy - I've really enjoyed Shred for the fact it makes exercising easy (the convenience of it rather than the actual exercise) - it's deffo worth a try...

Morning ladies, how are we all doing this week?

Well last weigh in before Christmas then and I have lost 2.5lbs, I have been quite poorly though with tonscilitus so although not been able to excercise I've been not up to eating much either.

So I originally said that I wanted to lose a stone by Christmas and I have lost 12.5lbs so I'm pretty happy with that.

Mmm what's next weeks weigh in going to be like though. We are actually going to be away over Christmas in a hotel (we are going to Lapland, I'm so excited), but depending on how good the food is will probably make a big difference. I think I'll be happy if I don't put on more that say 3lbs, does that sound about right?

Anyone know what the average weight gain over the Christmas period is?

Come on ladies lets hear how you've all been doing.

freedom2011 · 20/12/2011 13:23

hello all, and well done Wherearemysocks! I've been rather quiet as shy about lack of progress but I have finally managed to shift a bit more through smaller portions of carbs and bulking out meals with veg and fruit

slow and steady wins the race freedom, isn't that what they say.

Well done.

TheEndlessArete · 20/12/2011 20:37

Well done Socks and freedom but oi ! I need a bit of sympathy about my weight GAIN this last week !!!!! it's a bit depressing !! Still keeping going though, although I think this next week will be hard - I just love all this Christmas food !

wherearemysocks · 20/12/2011 21:05

Don't fret on it too much Endless we all have fluctuations.

I love Christmas food too, soo yummy. I heard somewhere recently that the average person consumes, i think it was 6000 calories on Christmas Day!! It only comes round once a year so I'm just gonna enjoy it and worry about it after. Xmas Smile

TheEndlessArete · 27/12/2011 21:02

Merry Christmas one and all !!!! Xmas Smile

How has everyone been getting on ? I've enjoyed all the Christmas trimmings but have definitely noticed my capacity for eating has diminished - or at least I enjoy feeling v.full much less than I used to.

Am glad it's all over and can start eating a bit more normally, have been for a jog on boxing day and shredded tonight, so not feeling too sluggish.

How about everyone else ?

sassyTHEFIRST · 28/12/2011 20:40

Hello all.

I am dead keen to lose a stone and improve fitness this year : am 40 in dec 2012 and need to look and feel good then!

Can I join you?

Currently 11 st 8 - 5 ft 7 so round rather than enormous but don't like it much.
A stone would be great. Am shredding - now at level 2 but can't move on for a while cos I still can't do it all after 7 goes! Have also been challenged to run charity 10 k by a mate, not till dec so plenty of time but want to be in good shape for it.

freedom2011 · 03/01/2012 16:34

Hello sassy Smile

Well no weight loss to report here but no gain either - or rather managed to shift 2 days over christmas excess by long walks and being careful since. So still at 12 st 6.2 like last time I checked in on 19 Dec. Maybe I will make better progress next week.
