Solo - when I stopped bf dd I had weird symptoms for a while before I was due on, they seemed like pregnancy symptoms, like heavey breasts, and feeling sickly I think it was just my hormones returning to normal after bf for so long. It took a while to settle down.

KinkyDorito · 13/01/2012 08:32

MrsMeow DD is doing okay at the moment, thanks. She's been into school for the past 2 days and will be there again this afternoon for 2 hours. Hopefully she'll manage Tues and Weds next week too, but she's due big chemo next Thurs.

I thought what you said about getting it right with our DCs is spot on. I'm another case of my upbringing and have learned bad habits from them, even though they fed us a very varied and balanced diet. My DF has always comfort eaten, and has always yo-yoed in weight. Although, what is very interesting is I'm assuming this is learned behaviour from watching him, but my half Sis turned up when I was 16 and is exactly the same as me in her eating, but had never known DF. Her Mum has no issues with food. Perhaps the tendency is genetic...

Anyway, I think the biggest difference between me and DPs with how I let my DCs eat is that I accept when they say they've had enough. I never make them clear their plate. This is still one of my biggest hang ups.

I do think the PMK does strange things to your mind, when you talk about the feeling you got when eating. I keep getting a medative calm coming over me when I'm eating, which is well weird as I am a stress bunny and eat in a feeding frenzy as a rule.

It must be working though. I have lost some weight this week. I do feel quite tired today though, so I hope I'm not overdoing the exercise. It is helping me feel much more positive.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 13/01/2012 08:46

Morning Smile

Solo how lovely! We can focus together then, because I am a bridesmaid in May Grin

It is so inspiring to hear everyone's positive stories, I am getting a similar feeling when I'm eating, it is literally as if I can't put another thing in my mouth.
The other thing which is a bit odd although extremely welcome, is that my sugar cravings have completely disappeared, for now at least.

Another pound down this morning Grin

stripygiraffe · 13/01/2012 10:24

Ali how interesting about sugar cravings. I didn't even think about it til you mentioned it but I dont crave sugar anymore either! In fact, when I am hungry and run through a list in mind of what I might want, I say No Way Jose to sugary and chocolate things as I know they wont fill me up.

movingonwardsorsidewards · 13/01/2012 10:58

I'm half way throught the book at the moment, this morning I had one slice of toast and peanut butter, and was trying to work out of I actually like eating it or not and I don't think I do. I feel like I just eat food but it might not be exactly what I want to eat and now feel like I have no clue what to eat.

Just wondering what others eat for each meal before and after starting Paul mck?

ppeatfruit · 13/01/2012 12:20

hello everyone i posted a comprehensive reply a.m. to everyone but MN went off line when i tried to post it so this is going to be shorter Grin!!

First can i say thank you everyone who wished me Happy B/day i had a brilliant day Smile

Congrats to all who've lost weight and GOT the slow eating etc. and are feeling better too this is just the best way of eating isn't it?

Solo maybe try camomile supplements and or Evening Primrose oil they detoxify and keep me going even now!

Mrs meow often when i'm reaching FULL I start to HATE my food it's weird but it sure stops over eating as you say!!

stripey i love my water filtered it tastes terrible when the filter is running out!

moving "cos i do this with the blood type diet for my health I eat really healthily all the time as I did before so i fancy what I make but IKWYM about the pappy type of white bread stuff. I buy and make pure rye bread as well as spelt bread (Waitrose sells a good variety of non wheat bread) Also Ryvita is nice to eat slowly (I crunch it up first in the toaster).

Solo · 13/01/2012 13:48

Stripy and movingon thank you. I suppose I assumed that my body would be easier after stopping with Dd than with Ds as I consciously stopped after 18 months with Ds but with Dd, I let her wean herself and it was nearly 5 years and happened over many months...I will try evening primrose pp thanks.

Kinky hope school is being Ok for your Dd and that she's coping Ok with it.

Ali yes, we can encourage one another into our posh frocks can't we?! Do you know what style you are wearing yet? I have no idea and neither does SIL ~ who is not really my SIL until September!!! Grin
Now, I'm also trying to get her to PMK as she is a very big girl (20st) and has lots of health problems that have given her the weight problem...
She was mentioning maybe a shorter style dress for herself, but I said I thought long would be more flattering and forgiving and also, she and I can wear low shoes and no one will know!

KinkyDorito · 13/01/2012 21:12

Gah.

Was doing really well, but have overeaten today and ignored my full signal, after a week of being so good. I felt really down this afternoon, and I think it is just hard to shake old habits. I was more aware of what I was doing, and I certainly haven't eaten anything like the amount that I would have done before I started this, but I did go off track. Sad

Start again tomorrow.

HeyNonnyNo · 14/01/2012 05:02

Morning. I'm finding this hard, bad habits seem to be getting the better of me. I'd love it if someone could inspire me with tales of a rocky start... kinky tomorrow is another day.

Ali and solo you've reminded me that I'm a bridesmaid in july. My frocks pretty nasty, so a thinner me might at least look better underneath...

Night feed over, back to bed for me

KinkyDorito · 14/01/2012 08:50

Good luck with it today HeyNonny.

I think I have a real problem with not having anything to fall back on. Food has always been my prop in difficult times, and the period of my life where I was slim was because I was smoking and using cigarettes. I'm trying to reeducate myself. Yesterday, I started off feeling really upbeat and positive and took DD to school. I was actually thinking I might be able to manage to restart work. But when I picked her up she looked so poorly, and it made me feel really fed up. This was difficult to shake off, and I just wanted to eat stuff.

ppeatfruit · 14/01/2012 09:30

Morning all Smile heynonny i think if I'm right? that ALL of us have had bad starts (and middles sometimes)Grin it's normal!! we just get back onto it the next day or week or month Grin.

That 's another thing that's SOOO great about P.Mc. you can do that without loosing fees or face or having wasted loads of dosh on powdered shit !!!!

Kinky you might think this mad but if i want a bit of a comfort esp. when it's cold outside, I have a capuccino, made with soya milk or with cocoa and a piece of hot rye toast with olive oil instead of butter and pnut butter and marmite YUM!!

ppeatfruit · 14/01/2012 09:32

Because on P.Mc. you eat what you WANT !!!!!!!!!

babysbreath · 14/01/2012 10:21

Aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh - I have only lost TWO pounds in two weeks, how deflated do I feel.

I have been so good, listened to PM for two weeks each night apart from one evening. Not weighed myself for the two weeks since starting. Given up alcohol and nibbles in the evening, and what do I lose TWO pounds in total!!!!!!!

May be falling asleep when listening is not the best idea, and only really glanced at the book instead of reading it in depth, clutching at straws here!!!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 14/01/2012 10:31

Kinky I often have a capuccino, or a hot chocolate - sometimes with a slice of toast, or a crumpet and I find that really takes the edge off.
If you are struggling with the lack of sensory input from eating less, can you try other things? Listen to music, give yourself a mini-facial or anything like that?

Nonny I've had many rocky moments, many. My focus ebbs and flows, and then there are days when it just all happens without me realising which is brilliant. There are also days when despite my best efforts I can't seem to stop eating.
There is a huge element in PMK about overcoming your guilt and emotions around food, and if you really are hungry and need to eat more then of course you must do it and not beat yourself up for it.
How old is your baby? My DS2 is 9.5 months and still feeds a lot at night, so my metabolism stays high all the time! The amount I eat and still lose weight would probably have me gaining weight if I wasn't BFing, but you have to allow for it.

I don't know what my frock is yet, the bride is being very relaxed about it and we are going to go shopping once the spring/summer stuff is out in the shops.

Scales down slightly again this morning :) I am going to stop daily weighing now and move to once a week.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 14/01/2012 10:38

babys I think you do need to read the book. The CD helps to reinforce what the book says, but it is the rules that will get the weight off. It sounds like you are following a more traditional dieting approach, giving up certain things at certain times, rather than listening to your body and eating slowly and consciously.

babysbreath · 14/01/2012 11:14

ABA40N thanks for your reply. May be you are right, but I've cut out alcohol because I was drinking a bottle each night and eating lots of snacks as well. I am trying to consciously chew each mouthful 20 times and I have to say that I don't think about food as much as I use to. Well I'll keep trying.......

ppeatfruit · 14/01/2012 12:39

But it's bit weird Ali and babys Just cutting out all that wine and those nibbles at night would have done it for me. You must be feeling better babys have you been drinking plenty of water instead?

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 14/01/2012 13:04

I agree it does seem strange, cutting out all that booze alone should have done it.

I was going to ask if you are drinking plenty of water? And are you getting in any exercise?
I struggle to fit exercise in, but I try to have just a short walk each day and do 10 minutes of yoga and stretching before I go to bed.

Solo · 14/01/2012 14:34

Babys it's 2lbs off!! honey! don't be despondent, it started very slow for me as I recall, but 2lbs, is 2lbs! good on you I say :) and do drink more water

I have gained weight, but things have made sense to me as Aunt Flo arrived late last night with a small bag...not sure if she'll have more sent on though, but she last arrived on Dec 21st and was late, so I have no idea really!

ppeatfruit · 14/01/2012 17:47

Sounds like your hormones are all over the place solo I'd get that E.P.O. IIWY and quick!!!

movingonwardsorsidewards · 14/01/2012 19:56

hey everyone, I am close to the end of the book now, i'm going to start listening to he cd tonight hopefully. Just wondering how you all got on with the visulation exercises? I tried a few of them but dont feel i'm getting on that well with them and they make me feel annoyed Hmm.

hopefully the cd will be more helpful, as i'm not eating much less and still craving sweet things so hopefully this will improve Confused

movingonwardsorsidewards · 14/01/2012 19:57

baby - i would feel alittle down if i had been doing it for 2 weeeks and only lost 2 lbs but 2 lbs off is better then 2lbs on I guess. and maybe it will fall off in the next couple of weeks.

babysbreath · 14/01/2012 20:29

Thanks for your responses, I'm glad you think it is strange that I have only lost a couple of pounds.

I have gone mad today, eating vast quantities of dinner and tea with lots of wine!! So will try again from tomorrow.

I drink lots of mint tea, but may be that is not the same as drinking lots of water.

KinkyDorito · 14/01/2012 21:09

I am listening to the CD loads moving; it does seem to really help. I've not touched the book since I had a quick read through and I haven't been doing any visualisation apart from what I do when listening to the CD.

One big tip I already have, even though I'm still in early days, is to listen to it through headphones. I copied it into iTunes and stuck it on my ipod. I used to listen to it on a CD player - last time I tried it a couple of years ago - and gave up in a couple of days. This time I'm finding it so effective and I think the complete saturation of it through the headphones really helps.

movingonwardsorsidewards · 14/01/2012 21:25

Tahnks for the tips kinky. how long have you been doing it this time? and how much weight would you say you lost?
