Thanks all of you for the lovely replies! This thread is full of sweetness and encouragment. Baby is 8m and a pretty demanding small person. I again had a great morning, less good pm. So I eat when tired. Knowing that will help, but what to replace eating with?! Sleep? Ha ha ha!

kinky hope your dd has had an ok day today, and you too.

Happy Sundays to you all.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 14/01/2012 22:58

Nonny I could have written this part

...a pretty demanding small person. I again had a great morning, less good pm. So I eat when tired. Knowing that will help, but what to replace eating with?! Sleep? Ha ha ha!

Does your baby nap and do you have a toddler? If the answers are yes, and then no - then go to bed! If it is the other way round, which is the situation here - no naps plus toddler - then please share any tips for what you find works Grin
I try to stay hydrated, make myself a Brew and have a small snack of something not too sugary when I do a snack for the boys after we pick DS1 up from preschool at 3pm. Fruit and a slice of toast, or a crumpet, or half a scone are all things I really love eating and they don't send me on a rollercoaster of sugar cravings. It definitely helps to eat when the boys are eating, because I don't give them crap!

stripygiraffe · 15/01/2012 08:52

I have baby who naps but a pre-schooler who doesn't Hmm

I think I am eating mindlessly in the evening again. It is completely linked to how much water I drink so I am concentrating on them again today.

PhoenixFromTheFlames · 15/01/2012 09:22

Hi ladies. I'm finding this really interesting, hearing about how everyone is getting on and recognising our own pitfalls.
I think I'm doing ok so far - one week in. I'm eating more frequently but smaller portions which is what I did as a kid. I'm also at Curves and I've worked out 6 days this week! Personal record Shock . I've listened to the cd each night and keep the rules with me, my tip would be to save them in your phone if you can.
Obviously haven't weighed myself yet, trying so hard to resist! But I feel like I'm in control of food when it was always the other way round before.
stripy I know what you mean about water. I usually drink a litre at work each day out of a sports bottle. I've lost it and I'm struggling without it! I think it helps cos I see it and pick it up at regular intervals and know how much I've had when it's empty.

ppeatfruit · 15/01/2012 10:22

Morning and happy Sunday everyone! Smile with the toddlers and babies sleeping it's hard isn't? Cos if you wear out the tod. in the park the baby naps then sometimes yr night is ruined. My Dcs were 3 and a half yrs apart so it worked okay for me but my mindees weren't always good at sleeping for their parents Blush Grin. I always found that babies slept better at night by having a good late supper and or a feed!

Pheonix I always take a small empty mineral water bottle filled with filtered water when i go out. it sounds like you've 'got' the small and often rule; IMO it IS how DCs should eat and us obviously!!

HeyNonnyNo · 15/01/2012 19:36

Hello all. stripy and Ali so good to talk to people in the same boat. I have dd 2.11 and ds 8m. They both nap, but have a secret pact never to nap at the same time. I reckon more tea, big glass of water by my side when prepping meals, and challenging myself to actually feel hungry at supper time will help.

DH (the legend) did bathtime tonight leaving me to listen to the cd. I really don't know how much goes in. Wondering if I listen while ironing might kill 2 birds with 1 stone... I was also let out to have a brisk dig on the allotment, so feel as if I've been to the gym, only muddier and happier Grin

ppeat big respect for doing possibly the hardest job on the planet!

AgathaPonsonbySmythe · 15/01/2012 22:13

Right. I tried Paul before and did really well, then I tried again and my heart wasn't in it. Now, no more whingeing I am going to kick arse this time. I have a wedding to get ready for in April but more importantly than that I need to be a fitter and healthier person. I am setting a crap example for my dc and I owe to them and most of all to myself to start looking after myself. I've just realised that although I am in my thirties I am not immune to serious illness. A friend of a friend (i have met once, many years ago) who is the same age as me has been diagnosed with terminal cancer. It seems whilst she, so unfairly, doesn't get the choice on what happens to her body, I am willing to abuse (and that is what I am doing at the moment) my body with food and no exercise.

I have my iPod on my lap ready to listen and I am determined.

Right. Apologies for the rant but I needed to get that out and reading it back tomorrow will remind me what I was thinking. Anyone else feel all inspired during the night or as they go to bed, only to bugger it all up in the morning when they wake up hungry?

Food does not need to be an issue

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 15/01/2012 22:58

Welcome to the thread Agatha :) I am the opposite normally, I start the day well and if it is going to go wrong then it is either mid-afternoon, or once we have put the boys to bed in the evening Grin

phoenix well done on all that working out, that is amazing!

I have eaten loads today, my parents came and we had Sunday lunch. Lovely roast beef and yorkshire puds, such a treat! Weirdly though, I have eaten nothing since, and we finished at 4pm. I am just going to drink some water and go to bed though, so actually I suspect I haven't eaten anymore than I would have done if I'd eaten more meals but smaller ones.

Solo · 15/01/2012 23:46
AgathaPonsonbySmythe · 16/01/2012 07:01

Oh yes I am exactly the same Ali start well and then b*llocks it up later , usually when I get back from work or if not working when I get back from picking dc up from school. What I mean is I go to bed and think, right, that is it, new day tomorrow, I'm going to be good etc or often the middle of the night pep talk (I have insomnia) which then falls by the wayside when I wake up thinking ' what's to eat downstairs?' Blush

I listened to Paul last night - I've stuck it on my old iPod rather than my phone now so it can stay by my bed rather than getting to bed, realising I have left it downstairs and then not listening to it .

I'm working at a different buildling today where I usually buy lunch instead of taking my own but I'm going to pack one to take with me. Onwards and upwards Smile

ppeatfruit · 16/01/2012 08:17

Morning all SmileGig/Agatha Congrats on yr more positive Downton Abbeyish lol name!! Smile and on facing up to yr problems with energy! I'll support you with the healthy eating if you like 'cos as you know it's what I do and it bloody works (I'm 61 and have no health probs).

heyNonny minding wasn't as hard as supply teaching ;try facing a class of 32 5, 6 or 7 yr olds you've never seen before for a day!!!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 16/01/2012 12:18

Oh hi Gig! Grin

Right this really does seem to be sinking in. I just had one slice of toast for breakfast, despite not eating anything yesterday evening. I'm having a coffee now and then I will have lunch once I'm hungry, which I'm not yet which is freaking me out a bit!
This is much, much easier the days that DS1 is at preschool because I'm not tied to his mealtimes. DS2 just eats some of what I'm having whenever I have it.

And now I am going to sit in peace and read the book.

stripygiraffe · 16/01/2012 13:22

Hi all. Love the new name Gig.

I did much better yesterday. I have really got the hang of eating my favourite things of a plate first. I used to leave my favourite to the end to savour it but this pretty much guaranteed I ate the whole thing.

By eating my favourite first my meal gets less appealing as I go and it is easier to stop when full.

Didn't listen to the CD last night. Fell asleep before I put it on Hmm but I manage average of 9 days out of 10.

Keep chewing guys.

stripygiraffe · 16/01/2012 13:26

Oh can I add a funny story. I have a set of Weight Watchers scales which have gone a bit haywire since I used them last. (I am guilty of daily weighing Blush).

I am guessing that they are inaccurate as I weighed myself first thing on Saturday and was 12st4. Then went to the toilet, weighed myself again and was 10st11!!

It has now become a hilarious pastime and has cured me of daily weighing Grin

Solo · 16/01/2012 15:03

Helloooo! Agatha!! loving the posh new name :)

Stripy I do that too with meals (eat the best bit last) and I have to change that again too. I love your scales Grin what fun! losing a stone and a half with one bathroom visit! Grin

I've made a yummy batch of leek and potato soup this afternoon.

AgathaPonsonbySmythe · 16/01/2012 17:39

It is lovely to be back on this thread Smile

Ok, so the day has been fine but I'm now in the danger zone Grin Blush I just had a biscuit and 3 prawn crackers. I have now STOPPED and am going to make a nice (huge) cup of tea to a)occupy me and b) stop me eating c)fill me up. Possibly the only lesson I learnt from doing the insane Cambridge diet, years ago, is that it is possible to get rid of hunger by drinking (in which case, of course, it was probably never real hunger in the first place!)

Onwards and upwards.

MrsMeow · 16/01/2012 18:24

Hi everyone, hope you're all ok :) I weighed in on Saturday and have lost 3lbs in a week and a half, quite pleased although I was hoping for slightly more in my first week!

Hope everyone is staying positive! Kinky, I hope your DD is getting on ok with school. I'll be thinking of her on thurs. xx

BigBoobiedBertha · 16/01/2012 19:08

PMcK on the One Show now!!!!

Happy oogling ladies Grin

Solo · 17/01/2012 01:19

I oggled!!! Grin

PhoenixFromTheFlames · 17/01/2012 08:29

Hi meow that's an excellent loss, stay positive!
I'm still resisting weighing myself. I usually do it every day so I feel proud I'm waiting! I feel slimmer, definitely less bloated and considering af is due tomorrow that's very good. My Ibs symptoms are much improved since I'm eating less junk. I'm sticking with it!

phi40 · 17/01/2012 08:58

I've just ordered the book from amazon after reading these posts. I did Dukan in 2010 and it was really successful for me but as soon as I hit a bit of stress the diet went out the window and the weight piled back on and I am now heavier than before I started, I need to change my state of mind, that is the only way I'm going to be able to control my weight I think. i am hoping that PMcK may have the answers for me....

ppeatfruit · 17/01/2012 09:38

Hi all Smile Bxm I missed him Sad was he talking about his new book? Stripey that 's good way to loose weight lol! Welcome phi40 you're in the right place Smile.
I thought about you yesterday solo there was discussion on radio 2 about diets and a woman rang in about the wonderful LL diet Shock.

Solo · 17/01/2012 09:55

pp I heard that on Radio 2 too. Silly woman! I almost rang up Grin !!

I only saw the last bit of PMK, so not sure what he was talking about, but I got my fix!! Blush

Welcome Phi yes you have joined the right thread.

stripygiraffe · 17/01/2012 10:08

Hi Phi you have come to the right place. This is not a diet!! Diets do not work long term as you have learned. ppeat and Solo are really passionate about that. Everyone here is so supportive and great at telling you to STEP AWAY FROM THE CUPBOARD.

Hi all

Nothing to report. Just checking in. Will watch PMK on iplayer.

P.S. I'm buying a house and keeping my flat to rent out. Rather stressful but no signs of the nervous eating kicking back in! Grin

babysbreath · 17/01/2012 13:45

Oh I will have a look on Iplayer as well to see if it was to do with being thinner.
