Morning Dod'ers!

Here's a nice new shiney list for when the old one is full.

Pull up a squishy chair and feel free to help yourselves to the Sw friendly snacks. Posters from the old room will be moved in shortly Wink.

Ah, don't worry about long post ria, we're here to listen. Do you think DS1 might have something like IBS? Good idea to call NHS Direct. How old is he? Must be such a worry Sad. Will keep fingers crossed for you that gain is due to AF too. It's really hard to stay motivated sometimes, especially when you're down, but just remember we're here for you when you're ready to get back on board the DoD Bus.

kid · 16/11/2011 22:35

I think I'll call target then (and maybe lose a few pound before xmas so I have room for a small gain if need be).
I received some good news at work today. We (class teacher and I) had a lesson observation and we got good with outstanding qualities. One of the outstanding qualities was how well the adults in the class worked together and also that my group (10 children) were fantastic. So, I am really pleased about that after a few stressful weeks at work.

Ria It really does sound like he is suffering from stress, particularly as there is a pattern to his sickness.
My DS who is 9 has been suffering from abdobminal migraines for the past 2 years. Sometimes he was going up to 5 weeks without a vomitting episode but other times, it was less than a week.
Even after changing schools, he is still having the same pattern of getting a migraine every Monday night. Its really strange but we have had him checked out at the hospital and they have ruled everything out so we just have to manage. I do think its wise to get him checked out as there is not point always having that constant worry hanging over you with 'what if'.

DD was diagnosed as having dyslexia about 4 years ago. All 3 of her school within the last 4 years have done sod all to support her. Not sure what they can do to offer more support though tbh. I purchased the colour overlays to help her reading as the school didn't acknowledge that could be an issue for people with dyslexia. I also had her eyes and hearing checked to rule out any barriers to learning there.

I really do hope you get some answers for your DS, its difficult not knowing what to do to help them.

CantSleepWontSleep · 16/11/2011 22:54

ria - does he eat anything different on a Sunday that could be causing the sickness? It does sound quite like a food intolerance, if it isn't stress related.

slinky - i don't do celeb but I do apprentice and x-factor (uk and us) and antm.

kid · 16/11/2011 23:16

I watch Young Apprentice but thats all

grinningbee · 17/11/2011 00:39

I'm back on the nightshift Sad

Ria I hope TOTM turns up soon and gets over and done with. What a worry too with ds. I'd get him seen by a doctor as others have said, but it does sound like stress. I remember going through a phase of having a stomach upset every Thursday night... and that was due to humiliating PE lessons on the Friday. Not saying it's the same though. And you talk as much as you want - that's what we're here for!

Slinky I haven't watched any reality telly lately. Tried Big Brother this year but it was beyond rubbish. Dh tends to have sport on anyway.

For some reason, the storage heaters are not working tonight. Dh has checked the fuses but nothing has tripped. Most weird. Looks like we'll have to call the council in the morning. Joy joy.

grinningbee · 17/11/2011 07:57

Good morning

Well, it would seem that all the being awake at night has finally caught me up. I feel as heavy as a lump of lead and am totally shattered. Was up until 2.45 with ds, and have had about 3 1/2 hours sleep.

Got the weekly food shop to do this morning and both dc are grumpy too. This will not go well!

Hey ho. Food for the day will be:

Weetabix
Cheese triangles on toast (with fruit and yogurt if I buy some)
Sausages, bacon, eggs and tomatoes (providing I get it!)

Feel like I'm wading through treacle. Hopefully some fresh air in a bit will perk me up.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 17/11/2011 08:25

We were up 11-3 with more teeth. Once the calpol kicked in she thought it was playtime. I feel just like you today bee

Meeting a pal for walk and breakfast in a bit, then home for packing ironing etc. Will offer a nanny a job today, I'm torn between 2. Food:
B: omelette
L: chicken salad
D: spag Bol or chilli

bee fancy a coffee?
ria take your DS to Gp, he needs to see a Dr to rule out other things before it's labelled as stress. Hope it gets sorted.

kid hope you get your fridge sorted

Oh and cracking losses everyone. So impressed and ashamed with my lameness

grinningbee · 17/11/2011 09:02

It's grim, isn't it Cheese. Yes, ds is also teething in addition to his cold. Poor little sod Sad. I'll take you up on the vat of coffee, thanks Smile. The ginormous bar of dairy milk is looking very tempting this morning too!

Must be difficult if you don't know who to offer the job to. Hope all the packing gets sorted and you can have a bit of a relax.

Right. Off to wash my hair and then drag the kids around Sainsbo's. Going to Calpol the pair of them first as they're both warm, streaming with cold and coughing.

Must. Not. Give. In. To. Temptation. 5.5lb to Xmas target is too close to blow a gasket cos I'm tired!

keepingitRia · 17/11/2011 10:16

morning all. thanks for your replies. DS1 and 3 at home today, although DS3 just has a cold and kicked off in a grumpy way about going to school, so DH sent him back to bed. My face is swollen and I look ridiculous... DS1 has just had some toast, we are waiting to see what happens! we are planning a GP trip later, I had wondered about food intolerance, but I don't think he eats anything different. Don't think it's migraines this time as there is no pain.

hope your heating is OK bee, or if it's not, hope it gets fixed quickly before it gets really cold.

kid · 17/11/2011 16:59

We have storage heaters too and I think they are such a stupid invention. You have to put them on the night before you want to warm the house. Not good for someone like me that doesn't pay any attention to weather forecast!

I had a fun day at work today, two workshops so not much work. I am teaching two children to speak english (God help them with my common accent!)

I've got gym later this evening and I think I'd quite like to come straight home from the gym and go straight to bed.
I'm struggling with food at the moment. I don't have much food in the fridge and I don't want to restock it as its on the verge of dying. So, I'm scraping all my scraps together!

I'm having prawns, 1/2 onion (left over from last nights dinner - didn't even realise I had 1/2 left!), cucumber, apple (my last one), pasta and some thousand island dressing (syns but I'll go easy on the sauce)

I'll have to wait until after gym to eat it as the prawns are thawing out. If I rushed them and ate before gym, I'd end up with a dodgy stomach and an amazing weight loss!

Fridge is still working so I don't really know whether to go and get one tomorrow or not. Maybe if it the alarms goes off once more before Saturday, I'll go and get a new one. If its still working well, I'll go food shopping instead. I bet it goes wrong on Saturday night.

kid · 17/11/2011 17:40

Well, I just ordered shopping to be delivered tomorrow so I am hoping my fridge does the decent thing and doesn't break down!

keepingitRia · 17/11/2011 17:40

difficult one kid. do you have a load of cool boxes/bags and ice packs you can freeze just in case? are there any fridges on offer on freecycle to have on emergency standby? (we got our current fridge freezer from freecycle. The last new one we bought - Carndy I think - lasted just outside guarantee, but they replaced it for us as it was a fault, then the replacement didn't last that long eitherHmm)

I seem to have hit my self-destruct stuff my face button. will try again tomorrow

kid · 17/11/2011 18:41

Guess what....
The fridge/freezer alarm starting going off again.
I'm buying a new one on Saturday. Fingers crossed they can deliver it immediately!
We keep resetting the fridge/freezer and so far, that's doing the trick. But we shouldn't have to reset it every day so there clearly is a fault.

keepingitRia · 17/11/2011 19:43

oh well kid, not great, but at least that's your decision made for you. Is it quicker to order one on online currys (or whatever)?

Chipskilartar · 17/11/2011 20:03

Is it too late to cancel your shopping delivery kid? Maybe you could get a fridge quicker on line. When our washing machine died last year, I ordered one from www.coopelectricalshop.co.uk/ at 10pm on a Thursday night, and it was delivered before 8am on the Saturday morning.

kid · 17/11/2011 20:36

That delivery option sounds promising chips
I was going to order online but want to look at the models first.
I'll have a look on some sites tonight to see who can deliver the soonest.
I'm sure the shipping will be ok. If not, I'll get friends/family to store some in their ff.

keepingitRia · 17/11/2011 22:54

sorry kid, missed that you'd ordered shopping. maybe it will be late, so you can complain and get it re-delivered free when you have your new fridge?!

I know you all probably have cramp, but could I call once again on your finger-crossing for tomorrow? Please. (for DH)

think I can send all boys back to school tomorrow, though we only have 1 pair of spotty socks between us... and one is missing.

LakeFlyPie · 17/11/2011 23:53

Late evening hallo all Smile

Have missed 2 DODs and realised it's been so long since I checked in that the thread had dropped off my list Blush

Haven't had a chance to read back through thread yet but wanted to say hi and that I'm still plodding along in the slow lane (1lb loss / week) and haven't completely disappeared off the radar.

Congratulations on all the fantastic losses on yesterday's DOD.
Will hopefully serve as some inspiration to me, as will the pair of size 12 trousers on a 14 hanger that I tried on today, it was a horrifying moment until I spotted the label on the waistband Shock

Cheeseandbiscuits · 18/11/2011 01:06

We are having a repeat of last night. She is doing my head in, there's nothing really wrong. I'm so so tired. Dreading the long haul flight on sat, had 4 hrs sleep last night and nothing yet tonight.

Rant over!

Welcome back , well done on loss and size 12sGrin

grinningbee · 18/11/2011 07:39

Welcome back Lake Smile

Cheese I do hope you got a bit of kip. This sleeplessness really is awful, isn't it. I'm hoping ds will snap out of it sooner rather than later. It's making me very grumpy.

The inevitable has happened, and after being coughed and sneezed on and used as a human tissue by the dc, I am coming down with the lurgy. Thanks kids! Achey, hurty throat, stuffed up head etc etc. Yay.

Food for the day:

Weetabix and a banana
Beans on toast, fruit and a yogurt
Spinach cannelloni (I think)

Cheeseandbiscuits · 18/11/2011 10:14

Well I kicked DH into a spare room and brought DD in with me, so slept from 230 until 7, not too hideous.

I've got do much to do today and can't decide what order to do them. I think I'll just head out when DD wakes and slowly tramp around ticking things of my list!

No idea what food I will eat today Grin

bee hope you had some sleep.

CantSleepWontSleep · 18/11/2011 18:09

You must all read this thread. It's hilarious!

kid · 18/11/2011 21:20

and the alarm has gone on the fridge/freezer yet again Sad

CantSleepWontSleep · 18/11/2011 22:08

:( kid. But you're choosing a new one in the morning yes? Fingers crossed it can hold out long enough.

kid · 18/11/2011 22:46

I am choosing a new one in the morning but am at work all next week. Hopefully I can arrange a suitable time for delivery. It would be wonderful if they can deliver this Sunday Grin
