Morning Dod'ers!

Here's a nice new shiney list for when the old one is full.

Pull up a squishy chair and feel free to help yourselves to the Sw friendly snacks. Posters from the old room will be moved in shortly Wink.

OP posts:
grinningbee · 14/11/2011 16:48

Forgot to say, yes, she did enjoy it in the end. There were a couple of dc crying in the room when we went in, so it was just making things worse - they were setting each other off! We'll see what Wednesday brings...

Glad the fridge is still going Kid.

SlinkyB · 14/11/2011 16:54

cheese Shock you send DD to work?! Wink, think you meant DH, no? At least you don't have to change his nappy or wipe his bum Grin. Also, have you been reading the Taurus thread which started last night (in chat, I think). I was reading whilst smiling sagely and nodding away re: typical traits!

bee eek, my bowels really don't need any help, so will be eating the pie with trepidation !

kid good for yiu going to the gym, am sure kidskids will be fine! Glad fridge is still alive.

kid · 14/11/2011 16:54

Its so horrible leaving them when they are so upset Bee but the thing is, they settle much quicker when you leave. Doesn't help you feel any better though.
My DC were both very different. It took about 2 weeks for me to be able to leave DD at nursery on her own. They preferred me to stay until she was happy.
With DS, he would always leave me at the door without a backward glance!

The fridge is still going, just. The lights are no longer flashing which is good but there are lots of creaking and popping sounds which are a bit worrying!

CantSleepWontSleep · 14/11/2011 18:25

Just a quickie - hopefully on more later.

Kid - please be careful with a dodgy fridge/freezer. We had one of each in our outside shed, and one of them caused a fire which burned down the entire shed and its contents, destroyed our brand new imprinted concrete patio, destroyed the burglar alarm box on our house, bent a downpipe that was 20 feet away, cracked our bedroom window and destroyed the frame, and warped the glass in our brand new folding patio doors. If we hadn't just had our oil tank moved from right next to it then it would have destroyed the whole of our house and next door's house. All in about 15-20 mins (dh was at home so called the fire brigade when he discovered it (because the house electrics fused).

SlinkyB · 14/11/2011 19:47

Ooh, bee the pie's lovely - ta for the recipe! My mixture was far too watery though, so had to spoon a load of the liquid out before putting it in the dish. Dp loved it, but then he likes lentils (always has dhansak at the Indian). We're both having it again tomorrow night! Should I dare to have a little portion for lunch aswell?!

What a horrific story CSWS! Shock.

kid · 14/11/2011 19:54

That sounds really scary cantsleep
Was there any warning that there was a problem with the appliances?

We have a very good fuse box with a trip switch. If there is a power surge, all the electric goes off. I guess that's no good with an appliance that is overheating (assuming that's what causes fires).
I don't see us buying a new one until this one dies on us completely. I will keep an eye on it and if noises get worse, I'll have to get a new one. Stupid house insurance only covers food in fridge/freezer.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 14/11/2011 19:59

Ooops I did mean DH, haha! Poor DD.

csws that's awful so frightening.

bee what is an ihop?

AIBU to go to bed at 9pm?

CantSleepWontSleep · 14/11/2011 20:45

No warning at all kid.
Those of you who have me on fb can see some of the damage if you go into my photos albums and scroll almost to the bottom. There's an album called 'fire damage' with 3 pics in.

Was uninspired with food today, and fridge a bit lacking, so ended up having non-SW bolognese from the freezer tonight - oops. Weigh in day tomorrow, so fingers crossed for at least getting my 1.5lbs for my first stone.

Dh started new job today, so it's going to be harder for me to get to the gym or get much time on here during the day for a bit. Might try the gym creche at some point. The hardest bit is going to be managing to get out of the house on time for school with dh not able to help. Is a nightmare with 1, 3 and 5 yr olds, one of whom won't be put down or co-operate with anything. Actually the co-operating bit applies to alll 3 of them Hmm.

grinningbee · 14/11/2011 21:07

Blimey CSWS glad you were all ok. That sounds terrifying.

Slinky! so pleased you enjoyed the lentil pie. Just got dh to agree to try it again one more time Grin. Have it for lunch and dinner? Well.... I shall leave that up to you Wink.

Cheese IHOP is the International House of Pancakes. You absolutely have to get to one for breakfast if you can. They make pancakes unlike anything I had ever had before or since. Oh, and maple syrup too.... then there's always Waffle House. Choc chip dinner plate sized waffles with syrup served with mugs of black coffee... Whereabouts in America are you off to? Need anyone to carry bags?

I'm not helping the dieters, am I Grin I have just dribbled for England at the memory! Ah, January 2007. What a fab time I had eating all that lovely naughty American food Smile

Cheeseandbiscuits · 14/11/2011 21:51

Wow Bee will check it out. My Dad lives in DC, we are visiting for thanksgiving. unfortunately he is a bit of a health freak so there won't be too many treats.

I have started making DD advent calendar, just got to sew the pockets on..all 24 of them! I should have just bought one.

keepingitRia · 14/11/2011 22:00

yum, pancakes with maple syrup and vanilla ice cream. mmmmmm.

I am a bit off-plan this evening. Did fine all day, then busy with my wardrobe at teatime so never got around to cooking my chicken breast (if it was even defrosted). I finished DS3s stew leftovers (2 or 3 forkfuls), had 2 choclates, then a piece of toblerone at my Dad's. I have just had a bag of crisps and half a glass of pretty rough chardonnay (my reward for even thinking about starting my bedroom!). I am starving. Might have to have a salad sandwich or something. The freezer is a bit bare of convenience food.

Haven't got very far with my room, short of moving piles of stuff around. I have done the linen section of the wardrobe, and found DHs tarot deck. And consigned some outgrown toddler clothes to the recycling bagSad. I have masses of clothes that don't currently fit (but very little to get rid of because it's too big). I need to be ruthless. A question for those of you further along the success journey than me - I have a few blouses that are lovely, but I find them a bit short for comfort. DM says when I lose more weight they will be longer (assuming my norkaage shrinks). Have you found this is the case?

that is a scary story CSWS.

enjoy your trip cheese.

keepingitRia · 14/11/2011 22:17

pah! doesn't look like I'm getting anything remotely healthy. DH is being an arse and won't eat anything I have offered to make, and got all huffy and said make it for myself, he wouldn't bother.

kid · 15/11/2011 07:01

Just as I was going to bed last night, the stupid fridge alarm started going off to warn me that the temperature inside the fridge and freezer was to high. I think we will be getting a new one sooner rather than later. Will have to go out and choose one at the weekend. Any recommendations? I've had a zanussi and hotpoint one break on us now. Zanussi one was only 18 months old, hotpoint one about 4 years.

Oh, and good morning Grin

Cheeseandbiscuits · 15/11/2011 08:42

Sorry about the fridge kid, we have a john lewis on brand one that is going strong.

Just about to leave for zumba and realised I haven't booked in the class. THere is 23 on the wait list. It means I am going to have to use the gym. I hate using the gym, its so dull.

Food:
B: Poached eggs on toast (HEB)
L: JP and baked beans, salad
D: ????? Will have a look in M&S while I am about and about today

Have a good day all.

grinningbee · 15/11/2011 09:34

Morning!

Sorry about the fridge Kid, but after seeing those scary pics from CSWS I think getting a new one (or 2nd hand from ebay?) is the way to go.

Sorry for the boring gym too Cheese. Just think of yummy pancakes Grin

Been up since 2.30 with ds bless him.

SlinkyB · 15/11/2011 10:37

Morning all. Food:

B: weetabix and banana
L: cheese triangles on toast
D: shepherd's lentil pie

Look familiar anyone?! Wink.

Bad news on the fridge front kid - you've been a bit unlucky there haven't you? No recommendations I'm afraid as have never bought one Blush. We're leaving all our white goods behind when we move in January. The new place has integrated cooker/fridge-freezer, but we need to buy a new washing machine so currently looking at deals. Why are there so many different ones?! It's so confusing, so you have my 'sympathies' when researching white goods.

Just waiting for ds to wake up before taking him to get weighed. Then supposed to be going to baby group 1.30 - 3pm, but have a feeling looking at the clock that he will be asleep again then, grr. Might take him anyway, and if he gets really grumpy bring him home. The children's centre is only 2 mins walk away. Hopefully if I keep him awake all afternoon, he'll have an extra-long nap this pm.

cheese am also Envy of your trip to the States - have a fab time!

SlinkyB · 15/11/2011 10:38

bee how can you bless someone who has had you up since 2.30am?! Seriously, you have the patience of a saint!

grinningbee · 15/11/2011 14:09

Ha ha Slinky! Loving the menu. Wherever did you get the idea for that? Wink

I did feel sorry for ds last night actually, as he has a stinker of a cold and was leaking loads of green snot (sorry!). I watched Superman 3 which I quite enjoyed (been a long time since I saw it). I know he's poorly as he actually refused food, and even at one point refused the boob which was a first. Normally he's a dustbin.

Food for the day:

Weetabix and a banana
Cheese triangles on toast, fruit and a yogurt
Beef rogan josh with roasted peppers

Luckily I had the curry in the freezer, so I don't have to do anything other than heat it and cook the peppers later. Yay!

Our washing machine has died today. Water poured out during the wash this morning, so we're looking for a new one now. Boo! I might get away with stuffing towels along the front of it for a few more days...

Hedgepig · 15/11/2011 14:33

afternoon to the Cheese Triangle on Toast gang Grin

its a bit of a " home for dead white goods" in this thread at the moment.

Bee your machine isn't something silly like the filter is clogged up and it isn't draining properly

Not a fantastic weekend SW wise but I had a good time so don't care Grin. I was saintly while watching DS1 play football on Saturday morning and had melon and yogurt I had brought with me rather than the bacon butties that were on offer.

Food today
B Melon/pear and yog
L Salad and tuna
D roast chicken and veggies etc

grinningbee · 15/11/2011 15:06

I'll check that Hedge, but I think the machine is 10 or 11 years old now... it's done well to get this far!

Mmmmmm bacon butties (without the rind taken off). I could just eat one of those now. White bread doorsteps, butter and tomato sauce .

Now then. I know from FB some of us are planning a small break of diet over Xmas. Anyone else doing the same?

I'm thinking of taking from Xmas Eve to New Years day. Won't be going mad on all of those days, but I think a break will be good.

grinningbee · 15/11/2011 15:59

Obviously when I say a break will be good, I don't mean a break from here! And I do hope everyone sticks around for after Xmas when we'll all be aiming at our targets Smile

SlinkyB · 15/11/2011 16:05

I'm not sure what my plan is for festive indulgence yet. Luckily (or not) no work's parties, but have two groups of friends with whom we usually go out for a slap-up meal. I was pregnant last Christmas so couldn't have pate, creme brulee or lots of the other usual yummy grub.

Have a feeling, with me, that the longer I 'take off' from the diet, the harder it will be to get back on the waggon. So may just have Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day off. Will prob end up feeling grim, and have a mouth full of ulcers from eating crap way before then though!

Have had a really busy day, and walked into town twice (so 2 x 40 mins). Been saintly with food, and more lentil pie with veg tonight, so hoping for a good result tomorrow.

Hope ds gets well soon bee.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 15/11/2011 16:37

'Ello 'Ello,

I have been good today as well. I have been to the gym and managed 15 min run, 15min cross train plus some weights. Had a 40min brisk walk as well so I am now shattered.

I am planning Xmas Eve until New Years Day but I am not planning on eating for the sake of it IYSWIM. I don't like mince pies / christmas cake or pudding so that will help! I would do what slinky is doing but by the time I have spread myself between my 3 familes it would be hard. We are also at Centerparcs the weekend before Christmas so lots of booze then.

I have accepting there is no way in hell I am going to meet my Xmas target. Sad

bee I hope DS gets better.
hedge Grin at cheese triangles brigade! Well done on bacon sarnie avoidance.

Right I had better sort out dinner and get washing / ironing/ packing / sewing advent calendar!

SlinkyB · 15/11/2011 17:26

We've still got .... wait .... 5 more weigh-ins to go haven't we? You could still do it cheese? But I guess with the trio to the states and Center Parcs, actually, you might be right Sad. I'll just be amazed if I can get to 10st-something tbh and will then slowly put it all back on.

Guess I'm also lucky that dp and his family aren't "foodies", and are very sensible when it comes to portions. Not one of them is overweight, or ever has been...opposite to my family Blush. I think booze might be a bigger problem for me this year...Bailey's...yum Grin.

kid · 15/11/2011 20:43

did someone say Baileys? Smile
I have a 1 litre bottle in the cupboard just crying out to be opened, hmm, can I be bothered to get off the settee?!

Stupid, stupid, stupid fridge is not flashing at the moment. DH turns it off on the front and then back on and that seems to stop it flashing, for about 18 hours or so. I've told him that he might as well admit we need a new one and he said fine. He is at work all week though so not so sure when we will get it sorted. Hopefully before xmas!

I am so not going to meet my xmas target. I'm not even going to try anymore. I will just gracefully admit defeat.

But, at work today, a lovely lady I work with was asking me what I eat. She reckons she can see how much weight I have lost (thats news to me because I have been eating loads extra!). She doesn't think its fair as she goes to the gym 5 times a week. I go at least twice, sometimes three times a week but I always go to instructor lead classes so I am being pushed to within an inch of my life.
Another wonderful boost at work was when I saw 3 parents that I haven't seen for about a year. They all commented on how fantastic I look. One said that I've lost loads of weight and wanted to know how! I hate being the centre of attention but I guess its nice for people to notice my hard work.
I was shocked when I worked out that I've been going to the gym for 9 months!!!
