Morning Dod'ers!

Here's a nice new shiney list for when the old one is full.

Pull up a squishy chair and feel free to help yourselves to the Sw friendly snacks. Posters from the old room will be moved in shortly Wink.

CantSleepWontSleep · 29/10/2011 22:18

Gah - butter chicken has yogurt in so I can't do it! :(

grinningzombee · 29/10/2011 22:38

CSWS Just thought of something - Alpro soya yogurt - 500g pot £1.45 in Sainsbury's. Worth a try? Tis dairy free!

I've had a lovely day today. I went out for lunch with my parents, sisters and a couple of friends for my nephews birthday. My dc behaved fantastically (made a nice changeGrin)

This evening, we went for a meal with DH's family. I had a glass of wine and a lovely mixed grill and no dessert. I had a slight headache this morning but its got worse and worse throughout the day. Dh poured me a glass of wine when we got home but i couldn't drink it.
I've just taken some painkillers which I hope are going to kick in any second now. My throat is beginning to hurt again but i always assume its lack of sleep. I am usually such a healthy person, my body has been quite poorly for the last month or so. Let's hope its getting all the bugs out of the way before Xmas.

grimRiaper · 29/10/2011 23:48

very glad its delish bee. I may try it then.

have tried out the halloween makeup! sadly, DH saw fit to let DS1 watch lebsian vampire killers (or whatever) so he is a tad freaked out by my efforts.

have a good Sunday x

grimRiaper · 29/10/2011 23:51

oh kid, hope you kick this nastiness soon Sad I've only been feeling pants for a week, but it's no fun, and I am truly dreading Monday when I don't even have to go in. no idea how I'd cope if it was my actual job. glad you had a nice day though.

grinningzombee · 30/10/2011 03:50

Kid Sad Did you ever go to the doctor for them to look at your throat? If it's still white/yellow I'd go. Can't hurt to have them look. Hope you feel better soon.

Ria poor ds! Are you going to post a piccy of your efforts? I do hope so [hsmile].

I can't wait for a bit later when I get my lovely Sunday soak in the bath. Peace and quiet all to myself for half an hour. Bliss!

Does anyone here have a Kindle? Are they worth it? Or do you prefer proper papery books? Dh has asked if I want one for my birthday [hshock] (all I wanted was a couple of bath bombs from Lush actually... maybe a small box of Thorntons too) but I love books and can't imagine an electronic version being as good.

OP posts:
kid · 30/10/2011 08:30

I didn't ever go drs, my throat isn't hurting this morning so maybe it was tiredness. It happens a lot and it usually goes when I get some sleep. The headache has gone too which is a relief, it was a real whopper of a headache. I'll have a look at my tonsils and any sign if white/yellow.,I'll phone the Dr on Monday. I am just a big baby when it comes to being ill!

I don't have a kindle but i think they are a great idea. Saves on a big pile of books, plus you can read in the dark. The battery could possibly be a nuisance but i don't know how long they last.

I was awake at 6:30 this morning but refused to get up. I am going to have a peaceful evening tonight and tomorrow. DC are going to their grandparents house tonight as they have INSET day tomorrow but i have work. DH will collect them tomorrow night around 8pm.
I hardly ever get time to myself so I'm going to enjoy it.
My in-laws are coming round for dinner today. Suppose I should get out of bed and tidy up. I've got gym.at 10:30 then I have to go and buy some meat for dinner.

CantSleepWontSleep · 30/10/2011 09:07

kid - kindles aren't backlit, so you still need a booklight if you want to read in the dark.

bee - soya yogurt sadly not allowed as a healthy extra, so would have to syn it. I haven't checked how many syns mind.

kid · 30/10/2011 09:36

Oh well, still saves on a pile of books Smile

grinningzombee · 30/10/2011 10:03

CSWS I just looked it up for you - a whole 500g pot is 7.5 syns. Not bad at all!

OP posts:
CantSleepWontSleep · 30/10/2011 10:19

Oh thanks bee. That would make it quite feasible then. Bravo!

grinningzombee · 30/10/2011 10:33

You're welcome [hsmile]. The recipe uses 142g, which is roughly 2 syns for the whole thing, so only 1/2 a syn per portion. I'll post it on the recipe thread a bit later.

Dh has just taken both dc out to the park down the road (hurrah!!) so I'm just about to have a lovely peaceful bath. Bliss!

Oh, and food for the day:

Weetabix and a banana
Not sure
Leftover pork meatballs in spicy tomato and onion sauce

Bathtime! [hgrin]

OP posts:
Cheeseandbiscuits · 30/10/2011 16:14

Hope you Enjoyed your bath. I ended up drinking too much wine and having pizza for dinner last night. Oops! DH has got his exam tomorrow, fingers crossed everyone!

Slinkenstein · 30/10/2011 16:31

Hi all - have been lurking with the lurgy this weekend - boo! Sore throat/ears/headache etc, but feeling a little better now. Ds started making croup-type noises on Friday night too, but just seems to have gone back to his cough now.

bee Hope you enjoyed your bath, sorry to see you were up at silly-o-clock again, and let me know how you get on with a Kindle if you do get one please! Dp has been asking for one for over a year now, but I keep saying "if you don't read your actual books, you're not going to use it much now, are you?!". He's just addicted to gadgets in general, and I just know he'll play with it for five minutes then it'll gather dust in a drawer. He has an iPhone, a BB Playbook and every games console there is, as well as shelves full of un-read books.

Ooh, thanks for the butter chicken recommendation - will have to give that one a go soon then.

I was naughty yesterday too cheese - felt grim so drank lots of Fat Coke, and ate the sweets I was supposed to take to a party I was too ill to go too [hblush]. We stayed in and watched The Shining (with 12yo dss - bad stepmother!). Good luck Mr Cheese for his big exam tomorrow!

grinningzombee · 30/10/2011 18:17

Good luck for tomorrow Mr Cheese! Fingers will be crossed.

Slinky sorry you're feeling ill Sad there's a lot of it going around. I love the Shining, great film. Good book too! But I have a very soft spot for anything written by Stephen King. I can't make up my mind about the kindle. But in our storage we have about 600 books of mine Blush which are taking up space, and could (I suppose) be put on one of those.

My bath was lovely thank you Grin Dh is just having his turn now while I give the dc their tea. We went to a rather busy soft play earlier... they had 3 parties in just the hour we were there. It was total chaos! Didn't stop dd having a meltdown when it was time to go though [hhmm]

Oh, and I've seen a fab dress in TkMaxx. The link shows it in purple, but the shop has a dark blue one in a 16. Only thing is, I wouldn't have anywhere to wear it to! Likey? or is it fuddy duddy (I have no idea!) dress

It did look nice on...

OP posts:
kid · 30/10/2011 19:30

Fingers crossed for your exam Mr cheese

If you have an upset tummy, does that cancel out any syns you've had that day? (Fingers crossed Grin)

I just checked my throat and my tonsils still look nasty. I actually took a photo so if anyone wants to diagnose from the pic, let me know and i'll add it to Fb page.
So much for my relaxing evening I was due tomorrow. Dc are at their grandparents but are moaning so much. They were meant to be collected tomorrow night by DH, but I've agreed to get them as soon as I finish work tomorrow. If they carry on being naughty there tonight, they're are going to be in so much trouble when I get there tomorrow Angry

CantSleepWontSleep · 30/10/2011 20:40

Right - who's given me the lurgy then? I've had a cold for ages, added sore eyes to it at the end of last week, and now have a hideously painful ear infection. Unfortunately when I get ear infections I REALLY get ear infections. Last one required 3 hospital visits. So I guess I'll be attempting to get a GP appointment tomorrow.

Had a fab trip to the circus this afternoon. First time any of the dc have been to one, and they all enjoyed it lots. Managed to restrict myself to just a few pieces of popcorn, and even stopped at pinching only a few of the chips that we bought them for tea afterwards (because it didn't finish until our usual tea time).

grinningzombee · 30/10/2011 21:47

Butter chicken recipe now up for those that want it.

Hope everyone with lurgy is better very soon. CSWS and Kid get yourselves to the GP tomorrow morning!!

kid · 30/10/2011 21:53

I can't go Drs tomorrow, I have to go to work as I've just had a week off Sad If I don't go in, they don't have to pay me for last week. Plus, I am not so ill that I can't go to work, I just have white tonsils and a sore throat/neck.
The best I can do is phone the Dr and hopefully be able to take their phonecall during the stupid 4 hour slot they give me. Its a silly system and one that doesn't cater for people that work.

WotsThatLurkingintheHEDGE · 30/10/2011 22:37

evening all ::looks furtive and wipes apple crumble from mouth::, just finishing up the delicious pud my neighbour brought around for our meal last night. Apart for the pudding I was so good, had white wine spritzers (mostly fizzy water with a dash of wine) to drink and the starter and the main course were on plan. So hopefully not to much damage done. Will post my baked mushroom starter thing on the recipy thread as it was pretty good and low syn

Sorry we are all lurgified, 'tis the time of year for bugs to be going around.

grinningzombee · 31/10/2011 08:29

Good morning!

Hedge put the left over crumble down [henvy]. Do I need my kicking foot? [hwink].

Ds did it again last night. 2.5 hours. Hey ho!

Might be off to the soft play thingy again this morning, although I'm probably being an idiot thinking I can wrangle both dc there on my own - more when it comes to leaving time than anything! They're doing face painting and balloon animals etc today for halloween, so we'll see...

Food for the day:

Weetabix and a banana
Cheese triangles on toast, fruit and a yogurt
Left over Butter Chicken with broccoli

It's so flaming dark and gloomy. Yuck.

OP posts:
Cheeseandbiscuits · 31/10/2011 08:41

Sorry that you had a pants night, ours wasn't brilliant as DD has another cold!

Off to a Halloween party later, DD is going as a spider! Will post a photo later!

Food:
B: fruit and ff yog
L: scrambled egg on toast (, mushrooms and toms
D: steak, SW chips and veg
Happy Halloween everyone.

kid · 31/10/2011 09:08

I wasn't able to go to work this morning. Dh is in surrey and my door keys have vanished!
Dc are not here but i phoned them and i also phoned dh but no-one knows where they are. I've looked everywhere including the dirty washing incase they were in my trousers pocket.
I apoligised to work and said as soon as I find them I'll be in. But after an hour of searching, I don't have anywhere else to look.
