Morning Dod'ers!

Here's a nice new shiney list for when the old one is full.

Pull up a squishy chair and feel free to help yourselves to the Sw friendly snacks. Posters from the old room will be moved in shortly Wink.

A unicycle sounds dead exciting thing to bid for, I only get dull stuff like mittens clips . sorry you are both feeling crap

LittlePushka · 21/10/2011 22:29

well whhat a happy end to the week every one is having!!

Stinky, you are looking ACE my lovely (but you are a bit whiify - pop to the local hostel love, they will sort you out and you will get a nice cuppa and a hob-nob too.

kid - you got to lose the "too good jeans". You dont need them now - charity shop them or give them up to your class mates here who have marvellously arrived at size 16 from 18 or more [hwink]

I had an odd day today... wonderfully happy DS1 running into his new school really happy to see his mates, really great to see him blossoming so. Then DH called me at work late and said he was breaking his heart sobbing and calling out for me and he was inconsolable.

Horrid feeling when you cant get to your DC who needs you... not had that before. Mmm, very odd.

Anyway, you will be pleased to know I broke every rule in the book to get to him in the 45 mins it takes me to get home. Imagine Batman just after the call comes in to the butler...[hwink]

When I got home He just melted into my arms and stroked his favourite teddy with my hair,...chatted about his day, said he missed me and went to sleep. Mission accomplished I'd say!

LittlePushka · 21/10/2011 22:30

Ria, talk us through the unicycle thing....!

LittlePushka · 21/10/2011 22:32

Hedge what are mitten clips?

kid · 21/10/2011 22:35

If anyone wants them, they are more than welcome to them.
They are dark blue and bootcut style. Just PM me anyone that wants them.

kid · 21/10/2011 22:35

are mitten clips what connect the mittens to the coat?

LittlePushka · 21/10/2011 22:50

I thought it was a metre long bit of elastic threaded through the arms which connected mittens to a coat,...or perhaps that is just on Planet Pushka!

WotsThatLurkingintheHEDGE · 22/10/2011 10:35

The elastic is the standard way but Ollie goes absolutely nuts with it, so I had to get little clips that attach to the sleeves, he hates the clips as well.

News of the day is for the 1st time ever I am lighter that DH Grin, we are the same height. He is a bit put out I am going to explain The SW plan too him over the w/e

grimRiaper · 22/10/2011 12:06

I won the unicycleGrin It's for DS1 for christmas and it must have been fate as it's from Kendal (DS1s spiritual home - Kendal. He was born there and feels that he has close links with it).

DH made me poached eggs on the last of the hobbit bread for breakfast, so it looks like I'm back on plan. Would like to be back in bed really - the kids are bugging meSad. I hate weekends when we have nothing planned. Have a good weekend everyone.

grimRiaper · 22/10/2011 16:25

have to say I'm a bit disappointed with the new magazine. Might make the chicken chasseur and maybe the butter chicken, but other than that there's nothing that takes my fancy.

Am making my grandmas version of pan-aggie for the boys and DH (and a SW friendly version for me, with steamed cabbage). It's taking ages.

grinningzombee · 22/10/2011 18:36

Well done Hedge! High five for you Grin

Ria Much sympathy. My dc are driving me crackers today. All I wanted was 5 minutes to try some clothes on, and I got a text from himself telling me to hurry up cos he couldn't cope. I ended up not getting anything.

Well. Last night. I reckon I will gain about 2lb this week. I had potato skins with bacon and cheese, then a burger with chips, and then shared pudding with himself. It was chocolate brownies with icecream, cream and maltesers on it. I am a pig Blush. Then we had wine when we got home. I am a baaaaad Dod'er.

Food for today:

Weetabix
No lunch
Quorn chilli and rice

Someone kick me up the bum and tell me to try harder!

OP posts:
kid · 22/10/2011 18:58

bee b consider that as my boot for a kick up the backside to make you try harder!
I've had 1/2 day on plan and 1/2 day off. We went to visit dh's terminally ill uncle. He has cancer and we don't really know how long he has left, last timescale he was given was 1 year but more cancer has grown so I'm not sure if that changes things Sad

Mn is playing up on my phone, the screen keeps sliding over to the right, very strange!

grimRiaper · 23/10/2011 09:24

Sad kid

small boot up backside for you bee, it sounds lovelyEnvy

kids driving me mad alreadySad

food today (green day)-
hobbit toast
last-nights leftovers made into a bubble and squeak type thing with dry-fried egg
morroccan rice with chickpeas and and harrissa roasted veg. the menfolk are having roast lamb with it. don't fancy it much now, but the lamd needs using so I'll have to stick to the plan.

have a good sundaySmile

kid · 23/10/2011 16:30

'kids driving me mad already' Why, what have I done? Grin Wink

I went out to buy DS something for his xbox but they didn't have it so we ended up looking for a laptop for me instead while we were there.
After looking at numerous laptops, I picked one that I wanted (early birthday present). The salesman then explained to me that if I want the recovery disk, I will have to pay an extra £15 and they would also do some tweaks to make the machine quicker. That really annoyed me though. They didn't advertise the extra £15 for the recovery disk (which should come with the machine as far as I'm concerned!) plus, why shouldn't the machine come with the tweaks to make it quick already done?
I told them not to bother and left the shop Grin I thought I'd have my new, super, duper laptop but instead I'm using this old thing that only works sometimes. It doesn't always start, I don't know why but I'm guessing its something to do with the CMOS battery or something.

Anyway, DH managed to save over £400 so I've been looking online for another laptop to buy! I don't want the money burning a hole in his pocket now do I? lol

I bought the new SW magazine. I'll have a look at it shortly, just as soon as the crunchie I just ate has gone down.

grimRiaper · 23/10/2011 19:34

you know I didn't mean you kidWink we have been cooped up in the house and garden all day and it has been pants.

DH put his tens machine on my sore back, maybe one side doesn't hurt quite so much now. Had a snooze as I had a killer headache. Am heading to bed again soon as I think my current supplementary diet of painkiller cocktail is disagreeing with me.

the moroccan rice was nice, lots of that and the roast veggies left for me tomorrow and Tuesday. All the lamb was polished off though!

kid · 23/10/2011 19:52

I knew you didn't mean me really!
Hope you wake up feeling better tomorrow.
I'm feeling better today but it seems I've given it to DS. But, being male, of course he is much more ill than I was last week Hmm

I think I've found a laptop I want. There are so many to chose from its actually getting on my nerves.

grimRiaper · 23/10/2011 19:57

ah, he will be. as my mum always says - it's a good thing men don't have to give birth! hope he is quickly better and doesn't drag it out all week.

I would have no idea with laptops. I bought my first one on ebay for DS1s birthday a couple of years ago, so it was just cheap... it since got swapped for my parents "old" laptop as they were buying a netbook on a trade-in deal (as it happened they didn't, and it is still in a drawer at their house, I may give it to DS2). Then I got one of the ones the labour goverment were giving away free to low income familiesBlush I wouldn't know where to start actually exchanging a large sum of money for one!

bee does your chilli chicken recipe have a syn value?

kid · 23/10/2011 20:25

I've picked a dell one, just trying to convince DH it's a good deal before entering his card details. I don't even need his card, I memorised it a long time ago Grin

I think those free laptops were a great idea, no need to feel Blush about it, I would have snapped one up given half the chance!

yum, chilli chicken sounds lovely.

grinningzombee · 24/10/2011 09:54

Good morning!

Ria and Kid I hope you're both feeling better today.

Ria the sweet chilli chicken recipe has 3 syns for the sweet chilli sauce, and 3 for the harissa paste (but powder is free), so 6 syns in the whole dish that serves 4.

Not much to report from the weekend - been uber good to make up for Friday night. Ds decided to get up at 3am this morning and go back to bed at 5.45, so once again I am knackered.

Food for the day will be:

Weetabix and a banana
Cheese triangles on toast, fruit and a yogurt
Beef rogan josh with brocolli

And apart from kid and Ria - where is everyone?????

OP posts:
CantSleepWontSleep · 24/10/2011 10:11

I'm heeeeeere!

Nibbled a few pretzels and kettle chips on Friday night, but have otherwise been good :). Made a couple of nice things from my new book - asian crab and rice noodle salad, and a warm minced beef and cous cous salad (which we didn't have enough couscous for, but we liked it as it was anyway. Best thing was that dh could follow the recipes and make them rather than me Grin.

WotsThatLurkingintheHEDGE · 24/10/2011 10:48

Im here, lurking with a tortuous phone connection in Norfolk. Will post properly when I get back. Being good(ish) on the food front but doing Lots of walking and even played football with the boys yesterday (it nearly killed me tbh)

grinningzombee · 24/10/2011 11:49

Ah, I forgot it's half term Smile

I wonder how the house hunting is going for Slinky and Cheese. That's if Slinky hasn't decided to move to Devon Wink

OP posts:
Slinkenstein · 24/10/2011 13:46

Ugh, my internet is b-e-i-n-g s-t-u-p-i-d-l-y slo--wwww! [hangry].

Howdy folks, am back from Devon, had a lovely time and was very naughty. Actually, I was fairly good on Saturday, had mentally written Saturday night/Sunday morning off...then was ok up until 20 minutes before we set off for home, when I managed to drink a big glass of fat coke, and eat 1/2 a Mars bar and one of those freshly-made ring doughnuts that are grossly greasy and sugary ! [hblush]. Didn't even feel sick either [hwink].

kid and ria are you better now? Hope you enjoy your half term and get some rest.
bee glad you enjoyed your Friday night.

Can't remember who mentioned what I'm doing with my baggy jeans, but I'm storing them just in case I fall off the wagon or get pregnant again at my Dad's.

Awaiting a phone-call from the EA's to let me know what our vendor's counter-offer is. Bored of negotiating now, just want to buy the friggin' house! Although if I am to live in a bejewelled cardboard box, one with sea-views does sound preferable [hwink].

grinningzombee · 24/10/2011 14:02

Good luck for the phone call Slinky.

I love those freshly made donuts . They're just soooo naughty!

Made the mistake of mentiong Xmas yesterday to dd. She cried because we couldn't put the tree up yet! Oh dear... She also mispronounced Father Christmas, and came out with Farmer Christmas which had me laughing every time she said it Grin

She's just told me it should snow so that he can come. Awwww. I said he wasn't coming today, and she said hopefully "coming on Saturday?". Double awwww.

OP posts:
kid · 24/10/2011 14:38

I'm all better now but dS is now ill. I thought I complained a lot about being ill, dS is doing a lot more complaining than I did! Poor thing is losing his voice Grin
I'm taking the kids for an eyetest shortly. Hopefully dS doesn't need glasses, he'd refuse to wear them anyway. Dd wants glasses and even lied at 2 previous eyetests so they would think she couldn't see properly and would give her glasses! I've got a contact lens check so we'll probably be in they all night. Still need to go food shopping, sort dinner and go gym. If one if those have to be given up, I know it'll be the gym.
