Whoops. Managed to fill it up again! Hope it's OK to start a new one. Let's keep going everyone - big zonetastic push up to the festive season!!

Well done for starting a new thread Knotty! Had a lovely day today - home made bacon sandwiches with my boys (using bacon medallions and low cal bread) then long walk down to Portobello Road market with DH and DS1 and DS2 and tapas lunch and frozen yoghurt this afternoon - with lots of playground breaks - and then amble home. Started my xmas pudding vodka and blackberry vodka for xmas presents today and just had a cook yourself thin tuna nicoise salad (which I definitely recommend) plus couple of glasses of wine for dinner. Lovely. Hope everyone else is having a good day.

knottyhair · 04/09/2011 09:50

Dinky, that sounds like a lovely day, and some lucky people will be getting some fab xmas presents!
Back to my normal routine today - Shredded this morning. Soup or a wrap for lunch, and pasta with chicken livers & half-fat creme fraiche for dinner tonight. Hope everyone is doing OK x

Still quiet on here isnt it. Hopefully the others will find us soon.

Exhausted today as DS2 had repeated nightmares last night so not much sleep in the dinky household last night - repeating mantra mindful eating to myself over and over to prevent biffing! Shame as had another nice day yesterday - boxing training, then columbia road market to get the last of the plants for our garden (sooooooooo cheap there!) and then while DH had to work the boys and I went for lunch at pizza express (like those leggera pizzas!) then for a leisurely afternoon of culture at the Tate Modern (if you go, check out the family packs on the 2nd floor - DS2 loved the velcro tate modern with things to look out for and DS1 did a fab collage of 2 paintings he liked!)

knottyhair · 05/09/2011 10:32

Dinky, sounds like another lovely day. Sorry you didn't get much sleep last night though - DS had a funny one last night as well. Usually goes to bed with no probs but last night started crying, saying he could "hear someone on his bed"! Took us ages to settle him down. He loves Dr Who but we decided after seeing the trailer for this week's not to let him watch that episode. God knows what he'd have been like if he had!! (Apologies if you don't watch it - it was about monsters in a child's bedroom). Anyhoo, good luck with the "mindful eating mantra"!
Did a Level 3 Shred this morning - man, my shoulders and forearms are still sore from holiday! We did a Go Ape style course on one of the last days in Austria, and I think I may have been gripping my harness a bit too tightly! Soup or wrap for lunch today and the Waitrose recipe for chicken tikka masala with rice & veg for dinner. Hope everyone has a good day, where ever you are! x

Woo hoo I'm here! Nice to see you back Knotty - sounds like you had a good time and adventurous too. Dinky - thanks for the tip about the Tate we are intending to go into London at the weekend to celebrate my birthday. I want to go on the Eye so we could do that then walk along the South Bank to the Tate and get some culture!

Ds started school today he looked so smart and grown up in his uniform I was a very proud mummy. They break the new ones in gently which means lots of going back and forth. I need to collect him at lunch but go back to collect dd at normal finish time then we are dashing off to football club - hopefully the exercise will help shift some pounds.

Off to check out the goodfood website for inspiration now as you two have made me hungry with your talk of lovely grub Smile

dinkystinky · 05/09/2011 15:25

JAM - hope your DS has a good day at school and has lots of fun. You sound so much brighter and happier after your holiday - and all that dashing around is good for the soul (and the waistline Wink). We did a lovely chilli prawn and courgette linguini for dinner last night from the BBC goodfood site - definitely recommend it.

If you're going down to the Southbank this coming weekend I think there's a festival on so will be loads of stalls etc so bet you'll have a great time (I'd go along too but will be in Ireland). Probably worth booking your Eye tickets in advance given the Festival. And on 5th floor of Tate Modern is a sounds and visuals little interactive play area for kids (it says kids under 5 but all ages were playing there) - bet your DS will be amused with the musical slide.

knottyhair · 05/09/2011 16:40

Aah, JAM, hope your DS had a good day. I know it's a cliche but it seems like 5 mins ago my DS had his 1st day, and now he's just started in Juniors. They grow up too quickly! Dinky, whereabouts in Ireland are you off to? Is it for a holiday?

OP posts:
dinkystinky · 05/09/2011 16:57

Off to Birr for my sister's irish wedding on Friday and then big hooley at soon to be BIL's parents' farm on the Saturday

knottyhair · 05/09/2011 17:30

Oh blimey, yes the wedding! (I am not Marvo the memory man today). I've never been to that part of Ireland, but I love the West Coast. Have a fab time. Will there be Irish dancing as part of your exercise regime??

Hello everyone! Sorry I've been AWOL for a bit, hopefully now term has started again I'll have a bit more time to sign in. Looks like you're all doing well!

I am at 11st2 now, 2lb heavier than when school broke up but it's pretty miraculous that it's not more than that. Am finding it pretty easy with the help of MFP to get back on track- That website is absolutely brilliant. I am learning that I know NOTHING about the calorific content of anything- I can eat pretty normally and be under 1000 cals (which, given my history with dodgy food issues, I must keep an eye on). It's also teaching me exactly why I became overweight in the first place- Muffins and cookies have a lot more calories than I had thought :o

I have a new goal. I would like to be 10st something by my husband's Big Birthday over the half term break. This should be very do-able if I can keep on this track but we shall see how things go.

knottyhair · 06/09/2011 10:22

Morning! Nice to hear from you Belle! 2lbs on over the school holidays is pretty good, and I totally agree with you about MFP. Good luck reaching your goal - we're all here for you, and in this together.

Just done NMTZ all the way through and it was tough going but I got there in the end. Soup or wrap for lunch and going to try making pesto & potato farfalle with green beans for dinner. Really horrible weather here - great look for me on the school run this morning - workout gear plus wellies. How the dads in the playground controlled themselves, I don't know Grin.

dinkystinky · 06/09/2011 13:30

By the looks of it Knotty am going to be wearing posh frock, wellies and umbrella for my sister's wedding- I think the welly look is one that will definitely catch on!

Nice to see you on Belle and well done with the tiny gain you'll lose in no time.

BelleEnd · 06/09/2011 19:58

Oooh what kind of posh frock will it be dinky? Tell all!

:o @ knotty batting away the dads in the playground!

Had a good day. I find that if I go without breakfast I can behave all day, although this breaks all the rules... It's as if breakfast, even a small or healthy one, kick starts my appetite for the day and makes me ravenous. I'm not actually hungry before twelve. I did force myself to have something a few weeks ago, but I've decided to chill out and eat when I'm hungry.

Salad with crackerbread and veggie sausages for lunch
salt and vinegar rice cake as a snack
Lovely sausage and lentil casserole for dinner

Totted it up and it's under 1000 cals. Again. But that's okay, isn't it? I mean, I'm really not starving myself, and I'm eating with the family.

dinkystinky · 06/09/2011 20:32

Belle - my sister is getting married in registry ceremony on Friday so have a gold LK Bennett Dress (the Hepburn) with belt for that ceremony (was a bargain - only £65 in the sale!) and some nude heels (or wellies) and then has a huge hoopla on the family farm (BIL to be's family that is) on the Saturday - when will be wearing a silver DVF dress and wellies in all likelihood...

BelleEnd · 06/09/2011 21:15

Gold and Silver! How cool are you!

knottyhair · 07/09/2011 08:20

Morning! Dinky, you'll look amazing, wellies or not! BelleEnd, just a gentle warning about your calorie intake - it does seem pretty low to me. I'm sure you know all about the dangers of not eating enough, and the research about "starvation mode" etc. I don't know what your food issues were in the past, but I'd just say tread carefully, but obviously feel free to tell me to keep my nose out! I hope you don't mind though.

Managed to fit in a Level 2 Shred this morning before the school run. Hate squat thrusts! Had the first half of my breakfast at 7am (half a slice of toast with a bit of goat's cheese), and will have the other half after I've dropped DS off (1 weetabix with half tsp sugar and skimmed milk). Lentil & chilli soup for lunch and tuna & tomato rice for dinner. Have a good day everyone x

OP posts:
BelleEnd · 07/09/2011 10:08

Not at all knotty, I know I have to be careful. I do know about the starvation mode thing, and it does worry me a bit- But at the same time, I think it's pointless to eat stuff when I'm not hungry. I'm not very active at all during the day. My food issues were basically thus: Last March (Yes! That recent! Shock ) I decided that I'd been overweight too long (had been a compulsive overeater all my adult life) and went on a low-carb diet. I went completely overboard, eating only salad and quorn- No carbs at all, no dairy, almost no fat. It worked as far as weight loss was concerned- I was losing half a stone some weeks- But I caused a stomach ulcer, my periods stopped, and I developed a bit of a phobia of eating in front of people. I lost 2 and a half stone in about 2 months. I finally came to my senses when I was at the launch of one of my own books and I couldn't enjoy it because of the stomach cramps. That was in early julyish (I think) and I'm pretty much the same weight now as I was then. I don't want to regain the old weight (I am still a few pounds over my ideal weight) but I want to be sensible. I don't want to obsess about food all the time, and I am a lot better. I feel healthy now.

Phew. That was long, and possibly dull. Sorry. :)

knottyhair · 07/09/2011 10:17

Not dull at all Belle. It seems like you've had some serious stuff to deal with, and I'm very wary of offering any advice on something so complicated. Sounds like you've overcome a lot of issues already, I was just a bit worried about the calorie intake on your MFP diary. I guess I'm applying myself to it and thinking "I'd be STARVING"!! But glad you're feeling healthy now Smile. BTW, what sort of books do you write?
On a completely different note, I am ridiculously excited to see that a new Jillian DVD is being released here in December (Ripped in 30). Have pre-ordered my copy (of course) and have just scared myself watched a clip on YouTube.

OP posts:
BelleEnd · 07/09/2011 10:25

You need to get yourself a Jillian tattoo, knotty... :o
I really appreciate you keeping an eye on me, honestly... But I do feel in control now.
I write novels in Welsh. Will let you all know when and if I ever translate! :)

knottyhair · 07/09/2011 10:31

Ooh, how exciting! Definitely let us know if you do ever translate. As for the tattoo, I was thinking of her head covering the whole of my back, with maybe "don't you dare quit on me" down each forearm.

dinkystinky · 07/09/2011 15:49

Ooh how exciting (possibly) LadyBuzz - you'd make the 4th accidentally up-duffed lady I've come across this year Grin

BelleEnd - not cool at all, but do like the dresses as they are v pretty and work with my skin tone well.
