I made macaroni cheese for dinner tonight. It was okay and I will make it again but it was a bit too tangy with all the yogurt (500g). If I didn't use as much, it would be too dry so you can't win really.

I haven't weighed myself once since last week Wednesday. I was 2lb over a stone, I must have lost that 2lb, surely?

I am weakening of SW though, really struggling with all this cooking, working, day to day life, blah blah blah. Work is fantastic (makes a huge change to last year) but its so tiring. I need to slow down as I will make myself ill (probably catch some lurgy off here!). I had a nap earlier for a couple of hours instead of going to the gym. I guess I must have needed it.

ameRIAcansmooth · 13/09/2011 23:39

that is what I need to get into my head pushka, but I can't seem to let things go. (Sad isn't the face I need for this one, more )

ameRIAcansmooth · 13/09/2011 23:47

kid - I did think about doing something like that to make myself look the part, but couldn't be arsed... I have got away with it so farWink. I might tell him tomorrow. But he will be cross because he thinks I am a bit silly by being so annoyed by people and associated stuff (hark at Mr Road/Parking RageHmm)

IWYM kid, I find SW very hard to sustain long-term alongside RL. All that cooking (and washing up) and planning and shopping... I am possibly not as organised as I used to thin I was TBH, but sometimes the urge to have a sandwich, or heat up a frozen pizza, lurks in the corner of my mind.

grinningbee · 14/09/2011 07:35

Good morning everyone!

It is the Day of Doom Grin Please pm me your stats, and I will do a lovely list later on tonight. I've already got a couple, and have to say we have some stonking results this week Smile.

Dh has been awake all night with toothache. He was unable to lay down, so sat in the sitting room all night playing computer games.... I had the best sleep I've had for ages Blush, and so did ds! Only downside is that he's taken the car to get to an emergency dentist... hopefully he'll be back in a bit as I need to go food shopping.

Good luck everyone Smile

Morning all, ria please don't be hard on yourself, I left my SW group as it contained an ex GF of DP's from years ago who was thinner than me the cow and the girl at school who used to bully my friends (and incidentally now looks like Clarissa Dickson Wright), I had to leave in case I regressed and headbutted her (I have scottish parentage).

DP hasn't lost much in 2 weeks so I'm shaking things up with red and green days so that he eats more during the day hence food is:

Toast and banana
HE cheese on hobbit toast with onion and a bit of ketchup, fruit (he is taking a sandwich and fruit)
Sweet potato, chilli & sweetcorn soup

Snack - grapes, ML's

grinningbee · 14/09/2011 08:50

Sw isn't easy - you do need time to plan the meals, and cook them, and make sure there is something decent to grab for snacks/munchies etc.

I suppose I am lucky being a sahm at the moment, even with that you don't get any time to think by yourself! But I cooked a curry during the day which turned out to be a lifesaver as we had half for tea due to the dc playing up (roast was too much effort).

Food for the day:

Weetabix and a banana
Cheese triangles on toast, clementine and a yogurt
Roast beef etc that I should have cooked yesterday

Morning all.

Ria Sorry to hear you had a bad day yesterday, hope today is much more positive for you. At least you got changed and as far as the gym car-park - more than I've done recently!

Gosh bee your dh has been in the wars; first his finger and now his tooth! Hope he's ok and brings the car back soon.

kid are you going to go shopping soon? I'm still inbetween sizes so am going to wait a few more weeks. Having our family portraits taken on 1st Oct. Would love to be wearing size 14 smart jeans instead of slightly baggy 16's but we'll have to wait and see. Don't wanna try squeezing into something too small and having rolls everywhere!

Good luck for DoD today ladies, will pm bee my stats later. Off to look at a nursery for my pfb later Sad and :)

SlinkyB · 14/09/2011 09:13

I agree that sometimes SW doesn't seem easy, but what diet plan is? Think we all know there's no quick-fix solution, and I love that they encourage eating lots of fresh, healthy food. I honestly do seem to have more energy and feel fitter and healthier when I stick to plan.

I also think that after following it for a while, I subconsciously make healthier food choices. If I have pizza, I'll go for a thin base with veg, rather than a cheese-laden deep base.

You do have to plan, but I tend to do that anyway when I'm in the supermarket, and lots of the recipes and meal ideas on SW are quick and easy...I might do a complete U-turn on all this when I return to work full-time in Jan btw !! Wink

ledkr · 14/09/2011 09:27

Hi all,
I m glad to hear you all say about it not being easy,i am on mat leave and so have more time than when at work but i have to admit i find it hard work.Maybe as well as recipes we can swap ahort cuts too.I cookked a big batch of mince and made one into spag bol and at the cooked meat and onion stage i put half into a pot, tonight i will need to add toms, beans, garlic and seasoning and make a chilli.

ria take it from an old veteran-i have 5dc from 27 to 7 months, never think of dp as babysitting, they are his children as much as yours.
Its horrible when you have no confidence,i am experiencing that for the first time in my 43 yrs and its really shocking.
I got out all my size 14's yesterday and could have cried.Im wearing a 16 at the moment.
Im not even sure if i lost any this week or not cos my weight was fluctuating so much from day to day,I didnt write anything down so am doing that now.
My weight seems to be on the lower side of the fluctuation tho so ill see if it sticks.
Having the lurgy didnt help cos all i could eat was toast.

grinningbee · 14/09/2011 10:02

I definitely think batch cooking is useful if you can. Half the curry I made yesterday has gone into the freezer, and later I plan to make another quorn chilli to split into two and bung into the freezer as well.

Yes, dh is accident prone. He last broke a finger catching a sheep that had got into a road and didn't want to be caught. He's always dropping heavy car things on himself, including car bonnets coming down on the back of his head... bless him Hmm I think yesterdays falling asleep before dinner was down to some sneaky drinking Sad. He thinks I can't smell it, then tries to palm it off as having spilled brake fluid on himself or something if I say anything. Grrrrr. Rant over!

Hopefully the dentist is sorting his tooth out now.

Better get some pre-holiday washing done, then a cup of coffee beckons I think.

Is this the Official Slimming World Chat Thread?!

If so, hello, I started (again) on Monday. I got to target last year...and put 2/3 of it back on...

whatkungfuthat · 14/09/2011 13:46

Hi G&T, I did the same last year, but I wasn't near goal though. Were you on the old SW thread? I'm sure your name is familiar.

This thread is really good as everyone weighs in on a weds and emails their stats to one person, usually Cheese but its Bee this week. I've been doing it about 4 weeks but not going to group so its an excellent way of staying on track as I try really hard to get a loss for wednesday.

ameRIAcansmooth · 14/09/2011 14:21

thanks for listening to my rant last night. I am feeling better today thanks (and thank goodness!)

mrswoodentop · 14/09/2011 15:27

I officially weigh in on Thursday am ,should I weigh at home today or use last Thursday's?

grinningbee · 14/09/2011 15:48

If you weigh on a Thursday, I would use last week rather than weigh in a day early, but it's up to you Smile

Welcome to G&T Smile

Ria you rant away anytime. I do Wink

Dh had his tooth taken out, then cancelled his jobs for the day so he is here. He can't have anesthetic as he's allergic. Bet that hurt!

Good response for the list so far - any more takers?

I'm going to have to weigh in 2 days early next week. Boo. But only because I'm not taking the scales. I'll still be around Wink

OP posts:
kid · 14/09/2011 15:58

If you do sw at home, i'd switch weigh in day to weds instead. If you go to a group, then I'd use last weeks stats.

I've not long got in from work and I'm shattered. Still got to cook dinner but it's an easy one tonight (pepper and chicken bake)
I was on a school trip which is why I'm more tired than usual (i' always tired!)
I had to break my diet slightly today as I didn't have a spoon or fork to eat my couscous so I had a scoop packed lunch instead which was 1 cheese sandwich made with wholemeal bread. I'm guessing that would be about 12 syns so not exactly broken the diet, just didn't follow my plan. I could have had 3 biscuits in the lunch but I gave them away and had the apple instead. Just remembered I also had snack-a-jacks so maybe I did go over 15syn? Oh well, I'm not bothered but I won't be eating anything other than dinner tonight!

SlinkyB · 14/09/2011 18:05

kid can't you count the bread and cheese as Healthy Extras, and just syn the butter? That's what I would do.

kid · 14/09/2011 18:25

I could but I had weetabix for breakfast and usually only have 1 HEb on EE.
Dinner tonight is chicken with peppers and onions, new potatoes (about 6) and baked beans.
Not sure which would work out less syns!

kid · 14/09/2011 18:48

You have to try the meal I did tonight, it was the best one I've made and so easy too.
It was called 'mixed pepper and chicken bake'

2 medium onions
4 garlic cloves
1 red pepper
2 yellow peppers
1 orange pepper (I just used 2 green and 1 red - I don't think it really matters what colour)
1 lemon
4 chicken breasts
2 tbsp black poppy seeds (I didn't have any so I left them out)
1/4 chicken bovril

Preheat oven to 180C
Season chicken well, sprinkle with poppy seeds and set aside

Thinly slice onions

deseed and thinly slice peppers
peel and crush garlic cloves (I squirted loads of garlic from a tube!)
mix together garlic, onions and peppers in an oven proof dish

Place chicken on top in a single layer
drizzle over lemon juice (I only used 1/2 lemon) and scatter over zest
Pour over chicken stock
roast for 20-25 minutes until chicken is cooked through and peppers are tender

I served it with new potatoes that I sprayed with fry light and added salt, pepper and rosemary.
I was going to do sweetcorn or peas but did baked beans instead which was just as tasty.

It really was the best meal I've made in the last 1 1/2 weeks. Everyone cleaned their plate. It was just as tasty as the chicken curry but a fraction of the effort to prepare Smile

GandTiceandaslice · 14/09/2011 19:18

whatkungfuthat I was here last year!

I get weighed on a Monday so shall post that weight here on a Weds.

The last 2 mornings, by about 11am I have got really light headed & got the shakes. I have 28g porridge (made with water) & 25g raisins (3.5S) & a chopped banana for breakfast. I normally have huge breakfast Blush so I think my body needs to get used to a wee bit less!

Thanks for the welcome grinningbee Oh, I feel for your dh, that must have hurt. I am a wuss & would quite like an anasthetic when the dentist cleans my teeth! Wink

kid · 14/09/2011 19:34

GandT, I was advised to eat eggs to help prevent feeling faint and it seems to work for me.

grinningbee · 14/09/2011 19:46

That sounds delicious Kid. Yum yum yum.

Right then - last call for any more Dod stats. Pm me please. I'll give you until about 9.45/10pm and then I'm doing the list Grin

Just making the roast dinner now. What a faff for midweek!

OP posts:
grinningbee · 14/09/2011 21:35

I am stuffed.

Just had roast beef which was still mooing in the middle, mashed swede and carrot (huge pile), 1 small yorkshire pudding, a little bit of stuffing and a couple of spoons of gravy. I am very full Grin

Um, garlic puree - need to be careful with that stuff as it isn't syn free. It's 1 syn per teaspoon. Sorry if you already know though.

List will be done shortly. Last chance to anyone else out there. It's all looking good!

OP posts:
kid · 14/09/2011 21:42

Oops, I didn't know garlic purée wasn't syn free. Back to traditional garlic for me then!
I forgot to add, that chicken recipe is 2 syns per serving, recipe serves 4.

Finally sat down for the night. Lunches made, uniforms ready, washing up done and packed away, meals planned for tomorrow, just need to get a couple of ingredients. I'm making express chicken fajitas, will let you know my verdict tomorrow.
A shower would have been nice but that can wait till the morning now as I'm not moving off this settee until bedtime Grin

grinningbee · 14/09/2011 21:45

Mmmmm chicken fajitas. Yes please to the recipe if they're good.

Stand by your beds - list on the way...
