Oops we're full up again! Hope it's OK to start a new thread. Come on Jillian devotees, let's keep up the good work and the great results!

Morning all!

I did it! L1 Shred yesterday with 1.5 kg weights and I survived. Back feels a little stiff this morning but not too much worse than usual, hurray! I've decided I'm going to go backwards to hopefully go forwards. I'm going to stick with 20 mins a day and lighter weights so that hopefully I can properly sort my arm and back out as I go along. 1.5 kg weights don't hurt it, although can still feel some work being done.

Jackster, well done on the 2kg, that is no joke, especially that killer triceps circuit! And notyummy and knotty, 3kg++ just seems unimaginable to me at the moment , seriously well done!

Febes shame about your friend. It took me months of gentle persuading to get DP on board and he's now a Jillian convert, (he did his first L3 yesterday Smile). The 20-minute thing was a major factor in him deciding to give it a go...

Have a good day all, heating went on here for the first time last night, sooo cold!!

notyummy · 08/11/2011 09:32

Yes, I have managed to convert a friend of mine (who was admiring my abs when we were on the beach with the kids Wink.....vain, moi?!) I emailed her links to the Jillian DVDs and both her and her DH have been Shredding. Her DH initially pooh poohed it - then gave it a try and declared it 'bloody hard' and is now also converted. When I last saw her in SEptember she was now trying to convert a friend of hers who is trying to loose baby weight but has a fulltime job and no time....

You never know Febes - she may get there in her own time.

Well done threesteps and Jackster.

It is no exaggeration to say that my fear of L2 6W6P this evening is permeating the whole day [grin.] I need to rush in and do it and then shower v quickly because I have 45 minutes to do the whole thing and be back out of the door in clean clothes....DD is at Rainbows for an hour, so inc travel time to the hall and back, I reckon I have just enough time to fit in a 6W6P, as long as I don't procrastinate......

threestepsforward · 08/11/2011 09:56

Try and put it out of you're mind til later, I had the same kind of niggling dread yesterday with a dentist appointment Grin

good luck!

knottyhair · 08/11/2011 10:15

Threesteps & Jackster, well done! Notyummy, I know exactly what you mean about L2! I always feel so much better when it's done though Smile.

Did L1 of 6W6P this morning with 3kg - that was quite hard enough for today Grin. Still feel like I'm getting back into it after a bit of a break TBH. Quick Shred tomorrow before the school run as I've got to go into town, and rest day on Thursday. Have a good one everyone!

chocolateshoes · 08/11/2011 17:32

I dream of someone complementing my abs!!!!!!

Back still dodgy but I can do anything that doesn't involve lying down (like sleep - grrrr). Did L2 yesterday as I was reading that it is good to vary your workouts. Oh my goodness it was a killer - had forgotten how hard it was - and I can really feel it in my legs and arms today. So once DS is in bed I shall give it another go. No pain no gain!! Tomorrow is my day off and I love the fact that I can do Shred as soon as i get back from dropping DS at school - so much better doing it in the morning. Planning a rest day Thurs as I am likely to have the day from hell at work!

threestepsforward · 08/11/2011 17:52

Take it easy Chocolateshoes. I'm on the Shreds too at the moment due to bad back, it seems to be going okay so far.

Did L1 again today with the 1.5 kgs and so far seems so good, so I think I'll plod on like this for the time being. I can certainly feel it in arms and bum so it feels like a good compromise for now.

Oooo but I'm looking forward to "Ripped in 30" coming out Grin

Hope you managed to squeeze in 6W6P notyummy Smile

Have a good evening all...

notyummy · 08/11/2011 18:57

I did it!! Still have a kind of heartburn sensation in my chest from breathing so hard- and I finished over an hour ago....

Hope the back gets better soon.

Jacksterbear · 09/11/2011 11:49

Good work everyone. Smile

I hope you won't mind me boasting sharing this: I have had to buy some new work clothes (size 10 and some 8) because a lot of my pre-DD work clothes (size 12 and some 10) were starting to hang off me!

Awaiting the arrival of my 6W6P DVD - very scared excited! Grin

notyummy · 09/11/2011 13:35

Jackster - that is AMAZING! Well done. L1 of 6W6P is ok and a good workout. L2 is v v hard IMHO. I think it is the cardio aspect that does me in (and I am a runner)...and DH finds it the same.

BFBM just done as working at home.

knottyhair · 09/11/2011 14:08

Chocolateshoes, I feel your pain, I did L2 Shred this morning won't bang on about bloody V raises. Threesteps, glad you're feeling OK. I too am nearly weeing myself at the thought of Ripped in 30 (knew I should've done those pelvic floor exercises). Notyummy, hope you got rid of the heartburn feeling before tackling BFBM! Jackster, that's fantastic! I bet you'll love 6W6P - I really like it. As notyummy says, L2 is very hard but weirdly enjoyable at the same time. I think Jillian advises doing the beginner version of L1 first (without a weight) but TBH after doing the Shred, it didn't really feel like enough, so you might want to use a weight from the beginning. Enjoy!

chocolateshoes · 09/11/2011 18:14

Good for you Jackster! Well done!

febes · 09/11/2011 19:07

I ended up having a day off yesterday becasue Netball was rained off and it was pouring too much for a run. I'll definately run tonight when DH gets home but right now I have an urge to shred Grin I haven't shredded in months as I've been loving NMTZs but I'll be doing level 1 today -with weights for cardio if I can manage!

threestepsforward · 09/11/2011 20:46

Grin at knotty and her pelvic floor giving way under the excitement of ripped in 30! (Did you get the e-mail saying the release date had slipped a few days Knotty Shock)

Jackster congratulations!!! It's so motivating when clothes tell their own tale isn't it? Hope you enjoyed the spending splurge Grin

Hi to everyone else Smile

Lower back is still groaning but it's moved from my leg and is more of a dull ache than a pain if that makes sense? So I'm pushing on through as it can stay like this for weeks and I'm an impatient ladee... And chiropractor did tell me it's better to keep moving than to stop moving if at all possible, which it is...

So L1 Shred with 1.5 kg again today. I do think I'm just going to stick to the familiar 20 min Shreds until things change, boring but safe!

Have a nice evening all

febes · 10/11/2011 00:23

I enjoyed L1 shred. I did 2kgs for the weights and 1kg for the cardio. I probably could have used my 3kg for some of the weights. I really enjoyed the format- its brilliant isn't it! And so quick! I already have ripped in 30 but am waiting to get a multiregion dvd player as is doesn't play on our PS2. I have asked for one for my birthday which is in 3 weeks Smile.

notyummy · 10/11/2011 09:05

Well done Febes for feeling the Shred love again!

I was planning on going for quite a long run today, but round here that means going running on the road and it is really misty - bit too dangerous I think. Hmm. There is a 5 mile route that is all on pavements, or I could do 2 circuits of a 3 mile route (which sounds a bit dull...) I was all set up for doing about 9 miles as today is my non-working day.

Jacksterbear · 10/11/2011 21:17

Thanks everyone Smile.

notyummy did you do a run in the end?

Well done febes and 3steps.

L1 of 6W6P done for the very 1st time! It was good! I got through the first circuit fine and was just thinking "well this isn't too bad" when the second circuit started at double-pace and it got just a leetle bit tougher. Grin

I must say I felt a bit lost without the shorter circuit set-up of shred/NMTZ/BFBM which you can use to count down how far you've got, IYSWIM, but I'm sure that once you know the routine a bit better that doesn't matter so much.

notyummy · 10/11/2011 21:21

I went on my crosstrainer in the end. My knee is feeling a bit dodgy and I decided that a third day of relatively high impact stuff was probably not the best idea. DH bought it for me 18 months ago and it is a really good one but I don't use it very much Blush. So I did quite a tough 45 minute programme on that and was pleased that it has got some use and my knee got a slight rest.

notyummy · 10/11/2011 21:22

Well done on getting started on 6W6P Jackster.

threestepsforward · 11/11/2011 18:03

How's everyone doing?

Jackster well done on the 6W6P, how do you find it compared with Shred?

Febes how's the Shred revival going?

All others with niggly injuries, Chocshoes, Notyummy, Knotty, Venetia at the last count?! - hope all the aches and pains are under control. My back is definitely feeling better and my arm seems AT LONG LAST to be getting better too, hurray!

Have been doing level 1 Shred this week. Worked up over the week to 2kg weights except last strength exercise, where I go down to 1.5 kg, and 1.5 kg for all the cardio. It is a brilliant format isn't it, I still feel very nicely worked out! Plan is to go through Shred again, one level per week, and gradually upping the weights, which should take me sweetly close to the release of Ripped in 30 Grin

Might fit another Shred in over the weekend, but won't beat myself up if I don't! Hope everyone has a good one Smile

ThePaxton · 11/11/2011 22:32

Hiya, can I join all you shredders? I have been lurking on this thread for a couple of weeks and need some inspiration and a kick up the backside! I've been shredding for a while on and off but I find I do it for a couple of weeks and then once I stop, i.e half-term, I find it hard to get back into it.
I also have 6W6P and today got BFBM and NMTZ. So I want to have a big push before Christmas.. Might try BFBM tomorrow!!! Gulp! Any tips?

notyummy · 12/11/2011 08:19

Welcome Paxton! How you approach BFBM depends on how much time you have and how cardio fit you are. It takes between 45 and 50 mobs to do it all. Certain circuits are def easier and harder. 2 and 6 ( I think!) are pretty tough. 1 and 5 (kick boxing) really quite easy. If you wanted to you could shorten it by leaving the least - or most- challenging out, depending on your level of fitness.

Good luck!

knottyhair · 12/11/2011 08:44

Hi Paxton! Just to echo what notyummy said re: BFBM. I don't like doing it all the way through, as I'm not that keen on that much cardio Blush, and I don't usually have the time. I tend to do 4 circuits, which takes about half an hour with warm-up and cool down. In fact, I'm doing that this morning (once DS has finished eating crumpets & watching Scooby Doo wish I was 7 again ). NMTZ follows the same format but is more strength based stuff with weights. Good luck!
Threesteps, glad your arm is getting better. Notyummy, how's your knee doing?

OP posts:
notyummy · 12/11/2011 09:12

Not mobs- mins!

ThePaxton · 12/11/2011 18:20

Thanks notyummy and knottyhair. I did BFBM all the way through and was a sweaty mess at the end! Def found circuit 2 and 6 the hardest and also no.4. I always find the plank exercises hard. I kept pausing it to catch my breath between circuits, but I really enjoyed it. I had stopped enjoying the Shred and maybe that was the problem. Looking forward to NMTZ tomorrow!!

notyummy · 12/11/2011 18:53

Well done Paxton!

Knotty - my knee unfortunately is still twinging. It is particularly bad this week and I am wondering if the combination of L2 6W6P on Tuesday (lot of lunges/cardio in a lunge position) and BFBM on Wednesday (LOTS of jumping ) have been particularly bad for it? DH had to do the double shred on his own this AM, as I thought all that jumping in L3 was probably not a good idea. I did a 5 mile run (after some ibuprofen) and knee felt ok, but still not right. I find it hugely frustrating as I was trying to push my running distances back up (was up to 13 miles in the early summer before the school holidays meant fitting my long run in on Friday was too tricky.) I haven't done more than 7 miles in one go for at least a month, so am annoyed that my knee isn't holding up. Was thinking of trying NMTZ tomorrow as although there are squats and lunges, it is more controlled and no jumping. Will stay away from BFBM next week, and just try to keep going unless I get more pain.
