Oops we're full up again! Hope it's OK to start a new thread. Come on Jillian devotees, let's keep up the good work and the great results!

She does whoop occasionally - you just have to get into the spirit Wink. They all wear khaki stuff to do with the Boot Camp theme Hmm but it really is a good workout. It is quite long - 50 minutes altogether, but you can cut 10 minutes off I find but fast forwarding through the really lengthy warm up (a lot of it is streching and most trainers now think you don't need to do that before a warm up now) and also the cool down, which again is overly long.

knottyhair · 05/10/2011 10:27

Sorry about all the questions notyummy, but which one have you got? Just had a look on Amazon and there seem to be a few - Ultimate Bootcamp, AB Bootcamp, Basic Training Bootcamp, Bootcamp Fatburners, Cardio Bootcamp -aaaargh!!

OP posts:
notyummy · 05/10/2011 11:13

Ultimate Bootcamp

knottyhair · 05/10/2011 14:21

Thanks notyummy. Just one more question (hopefully the last Blush) - do you need to buy resistance bands for this DVD?

OP posts:
notyummy · 05/10/2011 14:29

He does them with 'Billy Bands' Hmm. An ordinary resistance band would probably be best (quite cheap on Amazon I think) or if I do it with DH one of use weights, as we have only one set of bands. 1.5 or 3kg would be the most you would use as there are a lot of fast lifts.

notyummy · 05/10/2011 21:11

L1 shred done. Used weights for all the cardio and 5kg for all the strength stuff except for the side lunges with raises. Dropped down to 3 then.

threestepsforward · 05/10/2011 22:34

Oh my lawd Notyummy, those are serious weights!! My arm still twinges a bit so am not able to progress with the weights at the moment, and still have to be a bit careful with push-ups. But you are 'aspirational' Grin

It's been interesting reading about other DVD options out there, should I ever take my blinkers off and realise that a world of exercise exists beyond Jillian!

Finished work at 6 tonight and forced myself to stick on BFBM and did it the whole way through. Boy it never seems to get any easier (but I quite like that). At the end before the cobra stretch, I am literally lying flat on my face puffing and panting...

My second underlay mat is wearing out and I've come to the end of my underlay stock, time to start shopping for a proper mat methinks!

Night all

notyummy · 08/10/2011 13:47

Dh and I did NMTZ this morning before I headed off for an overnight stay in London and lots of food and wine. Short of an advance penance!!

knottyhair · 08/10/2011 14:02

Same here notyummy! Did L2 6W6P this morning, and I'm off round to friends' for a girl's night in with Indian takeaway, wine & chocolate brownie cake with cream Blush. L2 6W6P is definitely the hardest routine but I'll still rather do that than a L2 Shred Grin.

knottyhair · 08/10/2011 14:03

Oh and well done threesteps for doing BFBM all the way through - that is tough going I think!

McPie · 09/10/2011 19:23

Glad to see everyone still plodding along, I on the other hand have been struggling to pull together the energy to look after my 3 kids never mind shred. Tomorrow though I plan to start L1 and if the best I can give it is a half arsed attempt then it will be better than what I have been doing lately.
How can I put on a stone when I cant eat chocolate, cheese, most other dairy stuff (including ice cream Sad, wheat bread and pasta???
My stomach is solid at the moment and I would be positive I was pregnant if my period wasn't like clock work, every 26 days. I was asked by a 4 year old what was in my tummy, luckily I am really good friends with his mum and we could laugh about it as she knows what problems I have had lately.
I have had a full blood work done on wednesday but am more than sure it will come back normal but hope this may mean they will try allergy testing or pass me on to a dietician to help me work what would be a healthy diet on the limited range of food I can eat.
Sorry for my little rant and thank you if you read this. I am feeling quite negative about everything these days, including my relationship as I cannot see why he would want to stick around with me looking and feeling the way I do so I create arguments out of nothing so he doesn't have to come near me Sad

threestepsforward · 09/10/2011 20:15

Aw McPie Sad

Bless you. You sound really down. You know if the blood results come back normal, you really should push for the allergy testing as it does sound like that could be a real possibility. You don't sound like you're doing much wrong diet-wise, and a tight, bloated stomach sounds like an intolerance of some sort to me

And I'm sure your DP/DH adores you and just wants you to be happy. Perhaps when you discuss your blood results, you can mention that the problems are impacting on your personal life/relationships? It might move things on regarding a referral to a dietician etc. Also, and give me a slap if I'm out of line, but you mention your DP/DH being with you 'feeling this way'. Do you think you could have depression? Something maybe to chat about with your GP as you may well have, and that can be treated... (I've been off ADs on and off over my life, and they do help, massively). As I said though, if I'm way off the mark I'm sorry Blush

But yes, try and squeeze a Shred or 2 in next week as those endorphins will definitely help Smile

threestepsforward · 09/10/2011 20:16

Knotty and notyummy hope you had fun nights away at the weekend Smile

McPie · 09/10/2011 20:48

Thank you so much threestepsforward.
I think I will cry if bloods come back normal, may get a sympathy referral out of it though Grin.
I dont think my mental health is tip top but it is hormone led, was super happy and confident, ish, last week but this week I am so down its unreal. I do tend to push him away at this point of my cycle as I would rather do the rejecting, hes pretty thick skinned and I think used to it by now, than ever feel rejected myself. I have kept a food diary and added a second page to each day where I have added how I feel, body and mind wise, so will bring everything up when I go on the 17th.
I am going to try and drop carbs from my evening meals and have veg that I know wont bloat me, carrots and green beans mostly, to see if that helps.
I really just need someone to say 'well you cant eat a, b and c but you can eat x, y and z' then give me a plan to stick to. I did try Rosemary Connely last year but when you take wheat out of the plan its a very tough and boring plan to follow, plus I only lost when on the low plan which meant no energy to look after kids never mind excersise!!!

threestepsforward · 09/10/2011 21:08

That's a fab idea McPie - noting down moods / thoughts / feelings alongisde your food entries. You'll be armed with as much info as possible then and there may even be, alongside bloody awful hormones, a food link too? I'm just guessing really, thinking/typing out loud!

Definitely push for a dietician referral as I'm sure they'd help get to the bottom of what foods don't work for you, what foods would give you the most energy etc., but based on a personal plan.

I really hope you can get is sorted, it must be horrible. I know how uncomfortable and miserable I get with my probably minor trapped wind issues (although I'm sure my DP would argue they're far from minor Grin)

I'm sure you'll get loads more advice as peeps drift back from the weekend!

Off to watch Downton Abbey now, my Sunday night pleasure Smile

take care

Threesteps x

Jacksterbear · 09/10/2011 21:16

McPie sorry u are feeling so crap. Do try and do some exercise (I know, easier said than done sometimes) as it really does help lift the mood. I actually first started exercising on the GP's advice when diagnosed with PND after DC1. Also, I am sure there will lots of helpful advice on the MN health and/or allergy boards. Smile

notyummy · 10/10/2011 09:08

Some great offered here already Mcpie so I wont repeat. I really hope you get some help to get to the bottom of it soon. Do try and fit something in - I am sure the endorphins will help.

McPie · 10/10/2011 09:25

Thank you guys. I am so tired this morning so will wait until after lunch to do my shred in the hope I wake up some more, plus I'm round to school at 10.30 so have limited time. Thank you for the allergy board suggestion jacksterbear I never thought of that before and will have a look to get some meal ideas. I worry about the lack of calcium I am getting just now but had an activia greek style yogurt last night and my stomach did not blow up to the size of a beach ball.

threestepsforward · 10/10/2011 15:21

Afternoon all

Hope you managed to squeeze in some Shred time McPie Smile

All good here. Did Level 2 Shred yesterday, which reminded me why I hardly do Level 2 Shred! DP has my 2kg weights somewhere so I tried to do it with 2.5 kg. Couldn't manage all the V raises, kept stopping and the same happened in the earlier strength when you squat and pull back...

Arm is still not better, although only twinges on some types of move, like push-ups. Gaaah, it's annoying!

I'm going to give it the day off and do BFBM in a mo....I dread it before I do it, but feel fab and look like a tomato afterwards, wish me luck Grin

Jacksterbear · 10/10/2011 15:25

3steps have just finished L2 shred myself and was just thinking exactly the same thing re remembering why I hardly every do it!l Grin My v raises (2kgs) were pathetic in the 2nd set! Good luck with BFBM - I would hardly describe that as a "day off" though!!

Mcpie did you manage any exercise (not nagging just gentle encouragement! Grin).

McPie · 10/10/2011 16:35

Done me shred!!! Head was sore but I managed to do the whole thing without stopping. I put it down to the soup I had for lunch, there was a bit too much salt in it for me, thank god I didnt add any extra to it and will make some of my own instead from now on or have something with eggs. Have had plenty of water to try and flush out the excess. I will be helping 2 full mornings round at the school after the october break which will get me out of the house and away from the crisps as well as getting the chance to talk to adults for a change Smile.

knottyhair · 10/10/2011 16:57

McPie, sorry you've been feeling so horrible, but you sound a lot better now! I managed a L3 Shred this morning, used 3kg for most of the strength apart from the dumb bell cleans which I did with 4.5kg (held 2 different weights together). Used 2kg for the cardio bits apart from the punches which I'm ridiculously slow at if I try to use more than 1.5. Threesteps and Jackster, with you on the v raises in Level 2, can't manage them properly with anything more than 2kg. Going to do 4 circuits of BFBM tomorrow I think.

OP posts:
threestepsforward · 10/10/2011 17:45

Well my arm had the day off Jackster Grin Glad you survived L2! It was touch and go for me yesterday, really felt like stopping, and did every so often during the strength stuff...

Did BFBM and really enjoyed it today [saddo]. I like the fact that the kickboxing sections give you time to recover between the jump type circuits. I love the old-school butt kick / jumping jack circuit too [again, saddo]

Knotty what is this new release you've pre-ordered from Amazon? Does it follow the same format as the Shred? Well done on those weights by the way. I'm feeling really really feeble on the weights at the moment.

I don't know whether to stop doing any weights for as long as it takes for my arm not to hurt any more, or to keep doing them but keep at a lower weight (say 1.5) until it recovers? It's a PITA, but should I cut them out all together until it's better?

Nice one McPie, back on the Shredmill Grin

Jacksterbear · 10/10/2011 17:51

Good work Mcpie, knotty and 3steps.

3steps - I must give BFBM another go - have a bit of a mental block about it after finding it impossibly hard the last few times, but don't think it's actually that much harder than shred or NMTZ and yes I do remember some of the martial arts stuff being quite fun!

Oh and re the arm thing, I would be tempted to give it a complete rest for a while although no actual knowledge or training to back that up!

knottyhair · 10/10/2011 18:00

threesteps, the new release is here. I think it's similar to the Shred but 4 levels. I'm very excited [also saddo]. I would say give the weights a rest for a bit if it's niggling you, but like Jackster, I am totally unqualified to give any advice really! Jackster, I had the same mental block with BFBM for a while, but I find it OK now. Saying that, I only do 4 circuits at a time usually Blush, normally due to time constraints. But it still feels like a good 25 minute workout. Certain circuits are harder than others, number 6 being the hardest for me!
