Solo · 28/07/2011 15:48

Well done!! Ali :) that's great news.

Blush please don't worry. I am just rubbish at knowing what to do.

I don't feel hungry but I know if I ate DH's 2 chocolate mice it would set off the munchies.

I am really tired still.

Around November time I did the pig to twig and lost 6lbs the first week. I then lost a few more but not massively, maybe a stone in total, not sure. Over Christmas I had the flu so I gave up the eating plan.

I haven't really lost anything on the PM plan though for the last 2 weeks at least I am not sure what I have been doing as I haven't been well.

I feel out of it sometimes, dizzy when I stand up, dry mouth.

Just fed up of going to the GPs and told all tests are normal.

Solo · 28/07/2011 16:43

It just doesn't sound right FAB. I mean, being tired, dry mouth, dizzy spells on standing; they are not 'normal' and your GP should be looking elsewhere IMO. Have you been checked for diabetes?

OP posts:
TheOriginalFAB · 28/07/2011 16:57

Is that the finger prick? If so, results normal.

All my bloody results are normal.

My dry mouth is mostly in the morning.

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 28/07/2011 17:10

Diabetes is usually checked for with a fasting blood test, and then another 2 hours later after drinking a sugar laden drink. I had to have it done a couple of weeks ago because I'd had gestational diabetes.

It would be worth asking I think, if only to rule it out.

I know it is a total PITA to keep going back to the GP, especially now over the holidays while you've got the kids in tow etc, but it isn't normal that you feel this way so much of the time.

TheOriginalFAB · 28/07/2011 17:50

It is just a nightmare as I have been going for so long saying how tired I am but this is a whole different situation.

Niecie · 28/07/2011 17:50

Solo - I remember you not eating much and then not losing but as I remember it, you had been losing before hand? (I think - it is almost a year now, isn't it?!!) I thought that it usually happened to people who had been losing something beforehand - your body would't normally go into starvation mode from the moment you drastically reduced your calories. I'm no expert though obviously otherwise I would already be a skinny-mini.Smile

FAB - I know you are fed up with doctors, but maybe it is time to start looking at the more unusual things like intolerances or the adrenal thing.

All your symptoms are side effects of some AD's too or they can also be the result of heightened anxiety, neither of which would show up in a blood test afaik. I suffered from anxiety for a long time and certainly had the dry mouth and the odd dizzy spell. It is also exhausting.

Sorry if I appear to be nagging but I am worried about you, I think we all are.SadSmile

TheOriginalFAB · 28/07/2011 18:11

I know this sounds really stupid but I don't feel I suffer from anxiety. My depression is under control, I am very happy with DH and I am pretty busy, in a good way, most of the time.

I was tested for celiac disease and didn't have it. I wonder sometimes about IBS as some food appears to exit quite soon after entry.

I can't see any of the GP's agreeing to just do as load of tests.

Niecie · 28/07/2011 19:11

FAB - Fair enough.Smile Just throwing some ideas into the hat. I did take anti-D's myself for a while and dizziness and dry mouth were both side effects which I had for a while. I had the anxiety and not the depression though. ADs made absolutely no difference and with hindsight I wish I hadn't bothered to take them but hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Could be IBS. I had that too! It is all linked I think. IBS is stress related and if you are not well in other ways, that is stress enough imo. Mine made me lose weight though - put me right off my food sometimes.

TheOriginalFAB · 28/07/2011 19:12

I have been on ADs on and off for 10 years, maybe 3 different types. Just so fed up with feeling tired. I have had my dinner and want to go to bed.

ppeatfruit · 29/07/2011 08:21

The original Yes ANY wheat is poison to my DH and ex DIL so look for ryvita, to dip in soups (even some bought soups have it!) If you like cooking rice flour is an amazing substitute for normal flour, My pancakes tasted better than normal flour ones when i made them with rice flour!! We eat rye or spelt bread and wheat free sauces etc it's amazing what they put wheat in !! I'm afraid you have to read the labels in the supermkts.

Whole rice is really good if you can't eat wheat, you can also buy rice noodles or pasta from the health food shops they do lots of wheat free stuff.IMO it's an allergy. It's worth really giving it a go my DH is a completely different person when he's off it.

ppeatfruit · 29/07/2011 08:24

Sorry, Morning all! And welcome newpaulies!!Smile

MuffinsMummy · 29/07/2011 08:46

Hi all.

I went out last night! Eat a huge chicken kebab on way home! Still in bed feeling rough with yuck garlic taste in my mouth! Why do I do it to myself!

TheOriginalFAB · 29/07/2011 08:49

Thanks ppeat. I will give it a go. I am food shopping tomorrow so will look what I can get.

Haven't had anything yet apart from 2 paracetomol.

We are in all day today as DS1 isn't very well.

ppeatfruit · 29/07/2011 11:21

Theoriginal I also remembered that DH and I take a good kelp supplement it really helps us sleep and gives energy in the mornings so its worth taking to help you over the awful exhaustion.

You could also try evening primrose or starflower oil (or are you taking it anyway?). With the avoidance of wheat you'll soon be running about wondering what the problem was Smile! Wish DS1 better, actually you could put all the family on it (don't tell them)!

TheOriginalFAB · 29/07/2011 11:47

Not taking EPO or SFO but my kids are on fish oil tablets and dd is on something else whose name escapes me.

Can I take those with prescribed meds?

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 30/07/2011 00:38

Evening Smile Should be asleep but DS2 is a hungry monster thus evening!

I have had a good day today. Went into town to do a few errands and thought I would take advantage of having DH along to try on some clothes. I am desperate for jeans particularly.
Anyway, long story short. Didn't buy any, but I tried on gap curvy jeans in a 36 waist and I could do them up! A whole tray of muffins issued forth, but still. I reckon half a stone and some exercise and I'll be in them. I did buy a nice knitted tunic/dress thing from wallis for the autumn - in a 16! GrinGrin

Tomorrow I am going to a BBQ festival or something like that. I may eat a little too much......

ppeatfruit · 30/07/2011 07:48

Good morning everyone! Congrats well done Ali! yes theOriginal Kelp is a seaweed and the oils are just plant oils, DH is on medics as well and takes them and he ALWAYS feels better when he does.

TheOriginalFAB · 30/07/2011 13:24

I listened to the CD for the first time last night. The only other CD I have listened to at night is to help me sleep and the PM one made me do a big breath out a couple of times and I stayed awake to hear it all. I plan to look at the book later. For breakfast today I had porridge with skimmed milk and sliced banana and I am not wanting lunch yet.

I have my period at the moment and am a bit Confused as I am changing my protection much more often than normal but trying not to worry about it.

I bought soups, ryvitas, a small bar of chocolate and a posh passion fruit panna cotta for dessert tonight. I figured if I am going to have a treat it should be a good one and I would rather have a small amount of decent chocolate than a bar of normal crap.

TheOriginalFAB · 30/07/2011 18:44

ConfusedShock

Hi everyone, how are you all?

Breakfast - porridge and banana.
Snack - red licquorice sausage.
Lunch - Ryvita and houmous.
Snack - 1/2 slice of home made strawberry cake.

Dinner later is pizza. I just don't feel hungry like I used to and am not eating when not hungry. Bought loads of porridge in Waitrose Grin.

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 30/07/2011 22:05

Hi everyone, I'm thinking of joining you as I want to try and lose around 7lbs before I go on holiday in just under three weeks, and adopt a healthier attitude to food for life. I quite often eat when I'm bored, stressed at work, or just from habit (such as always having something sweet after a meal), plus I tend to graze in the evenings even if I'm full after tea. I also eat a lot of junk foods like crisps (my favourite snack!), biscuits etc.

Is it really as simple as following points 1-4 in the OP? I don't have the book, is it essential to get this? Not sure I could get into the 'tapping' business but the rest of it seems like common sense.

ppeatfruit · 31/07/2011 10:26

Morning and a warm welcome Softkitty The book is not essential IMO the C.Ds are really helpful. You can also google Paul Mckenna I Can Make You Thin.

The 4 points really DO work. I will add that when I started to chew each mouthful up to 20 times (or as how many times you can manage!I can't chew a plum 20 times but I manage to feel full when eating an apple like that) I really started to lose the weight quicker!

Theoriginal How is your totally wheat free thing going? My DH has been in `Budapest and ignored all carbs the only problem with him is he's not ignoring the booze!! He also thinks a cup of coffee is a meal and he's not really doing P.M.

TheOriginalFAB · 31/07/2011 16:59

Hi

Have given up on bread but have had ryvitas so not sure if failing on the wheat free thing Confused. Currently waiting for my headache to arrive as the kids are bickering.
