Still awake here, feeding a hungry baby, or a teething one at any rate.

I have done so well today, not overeaten at all. I feel calm about food, it is a very strange feeling. I wonder if this is how 'other' people feel all the time?

Niecie have a great holiday. I hate packing now too - used to love it pre-DCs! Bizarrely though I find unpacking once we are home again a very relaxing and cathartic experience.

God I hope T drops off soon, I so need to sleep!

lililolo · 26/08/2011 01:23

hello, doubt anyone remembers me, but I am still Pauling!

it's been a slow weight loss for me, but it is all going in the right direction.. I've more or less consistently lost 1/2 stone a month, which is OK given that I don't FEEL like I'm doing anythign different!

Has been great catching up with you all. I feel like I've got another year to go, but I don't feel it's hard, I just feel like it'll all come off when it's ready!

Solo · 26/08/2011 01:46

I remember you lililolo and well done you!!! do keep coming back to us here wont you?!

Neicie - have a great holiday. Sorry to hear about your dad. My mum has alzheimers too. Its horrible!!

Ali - You like unpacking??? Are you crazy?????? Shock It takes me days to get through all the washing/ironing and putting away for all of us.

Lil - hello and thank you for posting that.

Hi Solo.

I need to concentrate on the Pauling rules again. I think I might be due on soon, which is always my worst time, but I have found I am not waiting until I am hungry and I have been finishing my plate of food without "listening" for the satisfied feeling.

Right, heading off to work now, i the pouring rain! Hey ho, where has the summer gone?

Have a good day everyone. Smile

GiganticusBottomus · 26/08/2011 07:33

Morning! Aw, this is a lovely hug of a thread. So I am forgetting about my eating yesterday and moving on to another good day.

I know what you mean about feeling calm, Alibaba, it is very odd! Tonight we are having homemade pizza for tea which was always very high points on weight watchers and my learned anxiety about meals like that is still fighting to get through but as soon as I think, but I will stop eating when I feel full then I calm down again. I think because there are no actual restrictions I don't feel like I am fighting against something all the time like I did when I was 'dieting'.

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 26/08/2011 07:59

Well done and welcome back Lil :) How long have you been Pauling for now?

Ali, I want to hold onto this "calmness" about food forever! I worry though that its temporary and I will slip back into old ways.

Solo, how are you doing? Hope its clicking back into plave for you.

PA - make your mission today to do teh 4GRs 1005 - and I will join you in this! I have felt my old habits creeping back in ever so slightly. When this has happened before, they creeped in more & more and teh rules slipped away. Thsi time I know the warning signs and I will do the rules properly today.

Waves back to Gig! Hope you have a better day x

ppeatfruit · 26/08/2011 09:49

Welcome Gig I second all the advice (and empathy) given i will also say that that you can eat as much salad or anything as you can but SLOWLY and CONSCIOUSLY, the chew 20 times rule really does work and or eat with yr eyes closed.

It takes quite a while to get 'into ' it BE KIND TO YOURSELF Smile

lillo !!!!! where have you been? welcome back!!!

ppeatfruit · 26/08/2011 09:57

I almost forgot while cat sitting in london i read Beyond Chocolate which was VERY interesting; I was trying to work out who put out their books first the BC girl or Paulie 'cos they're suspiciously similar, anyone read it?

SilveryMoon · 26/08/2011 09:59

Hi.
Just wanted to pop in and see how you're al doing.
I do want to start Pauling again, but am putting it off! Don't know why.......
Is everyne seeing a big difference in weight from when they started?
Success stories, and I'll come back Wink

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 26/08/2011 11:05

I havent read it PP, but have thought about it ... is there any differences at all? Ive also read a book called The Overfed Head which is almost identical too.

Silvery - dont put it off - whyever would you? Just do it Grin

Last time I weighed myself, Id lost 2 stone soemthing, but that was months ago. I tehn stopped Pauling for awhile, reckon I put on a few pounds, have now started again (3 weeks ish) and have definitely dropped more weight. I am not weighing though, because good or bad results both ruin my good work! No idea why.

SilveryMoon · 26/08/2011 11:53

I don't know why I'm putting it off, it's not like I have to stop eating my fav foods.
I think it's because I enjoy over-eating Blush
But, now would be the best time to start, we are quite skint so can't afford much in terms of junk food.........

PositiveAttitude · 26/08/2011 13:06

Hi Silvery, are you stalking me?? Grin

Howto, so far so good. Just had some lunch, have had enough so stopped.

I read Overfed Head on the kindle and thought it was really good! This was before I read Paul's book, because I was so anti-Paul to start with. Not anti-paul now as I see the effects of his sensible advise.

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 26/08/2011 13:55

Silvery just come back, you know you want to Grin

I've lost just over half a stone and dropped a dress size since starting Pauling. I was a small 20, now a middle-ish 18.

More importantly I've stopped obsessing about food, but love it more than ever. There are sweets, chocolate, scones, ice-cream all in the house but I am not compulsively scoffing them as I always have in the past.

I do know exactly what you mean about enjoying overeating, I used to, and in my head the idea of it is still appealing some days. But I hate it now in practice, and my head is gradually catching up with my body in terms of how it feels.
I have eaten a little too much this lunchtime and I feel really sluggish and like my belly is poking out. In a couple of hours i will feel a lot better.

Just do it! GrinGrinWink

SilveryMoon · 26/08/2011 14:12

PA I thought you were on this thread too, was sure this is where I first 'met' you...........

Ali Thanks. Think I will come back.
As of now.
Let's do it.
I'll need lots of help to get back on track.
Will need to find the cd..............

SilveryMoon · 26/08/2011 14:14

Found it!

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 26/08/2011 15:00

No excuses now then Grin

I am currently cooking up a storm, me & some friends are doing our own "Come Dine With Me" and its my turn tomorrow! Im cooking a starter & dessert that I can make in advance (today lol) so tomorrow I just have to tidy up & make the main course (which is also easy peasy). Everything smells wonderful but I have not been tempted to taste any of it cos Im not hungry! :)

SilveryMoon · 26/08/2011 15:07

That's great HowTo
Can I just ask, what happens about when you're at work?
I go back to work in september, but will only be able to eat at breaks which will be about 10:30am and 12 midday.

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 26/08/2011 19:43

HowTo that sounds fab - what are you making?

Silvery - when do you have a chance to have a proper meal - 12pm? Can you take some fruit/dried fruit and nuts or something so that you've something yummy handy at your break if you are hungry and need it?

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 26/08/2011 20:28

Well Ali, I have made chicken liver parfaits with an apple & saffron chutney to be served on hoemmade artisan bread Grin followed by Spanish rice with chorizo & prwns, then Lime cheesecake for after! I love cooking, I just hoipe my guests enjoy it.

Silvery, Im a sahm, so time is not an issue for me. I can see it being a pain, hopefully someone will have some tips for you.

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 26/08/2011 21:48

Yum Grin

Solo · 27/08/2011 01:38

Mmmmmmmmmmm...

Hello Silvery!

OP posts:
SilveryMoon · 27/08/2011 08:19

Morning.
Well, I listened to the cd whilst I fell asleep last night, then got up this morning and forgot I was Pauling and scoffed my toast.
Oh well, will try harder today.

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 27/08/2011 08:44

Grin @ "forgot I was Pauling"! Were you doing soemthing else whilst eating? I cant do it properly if I am eating absently. Here's hoping you have better luck with the rest of your day!

SilveryMoon · 27/08/2011 08:53

Yes, I was checking my fb! Whoops.
