well done georgie and bartlett

SummerLeaps · 26/07/2011 18:55

Reporting in to record a 0.5 pound weightloss. :) I am pleased. It is small, but down is good! 9 pounds down total now. Another stone to go, I think.

I also never reached my summer aim which was to be under 10 stone.... and I think 10 stone 7 by the end of June. 10 stone 9 today. never mind. My goal for THIS week is to NOT eat all of my activity points. Last week I ate all my weeklies, and all but 6 of my activities out of 26 earned.

Onwards and downwards!

MrsWajs · 26/07/2011 20:18

Hurrah 3lbs off this week! :)

Glad the feeling of startvation has been worth it!!

Littlefish · 26/07/2011 20:39

Signing in with a 1 pound loss. That's a total loss of 55 lbs so far (1 lb to go to my 4 stone, half way point) Grin

I lost 3lbs which I was happy with, haven't been as careful as I should have been but will be happy if I can settle down to a pound a week (or even .5 per week).

To be fair (addressing someone earlier on) I didn;t actually lose the first lot I lost "on my own" I had a ot of help form an NHS weight management clinic but my BMI is now just under 35 and I've maintained the loss for 6 months so they (understandably) don't want to see me anymore. At least they would if I asked but I don't think there's any more I can get from them (unless it involves a brain transplant).

There was a woman at the meeting today who got to goal (she didn't say what weight she started at) and a year on she's now 7lbs over goal so is trying to get it off again. She is still unhappy with her weight it seems and puts on and takes off the same 2lb. I hope I would be ecstatic content to get so close to goal even if I never quite manahed that last few pounds. But I wonder if thats a differnce if you have a significant amount to lose (4/5 stone+) to get to a healthy weight (healthy not necessarily slim IYSWIM) vs having a couple of stone to lose. I wonder if your expectations are lower?

I will never get to a BMI under 25 because the years of being significantly overweight have left me with extra skin and fat cells attached to the skin which I am really too old to shift now without surgery.

This was the first WW meeting I stayed at (couldn;t last week) since the changed plan and I was really quite impressed about how much the emphasis was on health and not so focussed on cunning ways to eat more or drink more!

Signing in (thread appeared as had just taken a mouthful of chocolate !) to say have lost the plot, am sleep deprived with kittens in my room, off on hols Saturday, will go and deal when I come back.

Congratulations for the losers, tis great to see people doing so well over the summer :)

Littlefish · 27/07/2011 16:59

Well done Kew - 3lbs loss is great.

I'm just off to check my BMI. Whenever I feel despondant, I put in my starting weight, look at the BMI, and then put in my current weight and watch my BMI drop Grin.

I haven't given myself a definite goal weight. I will be happy to be at a healthy BMI and know that the life changes I've made, will go someway to ensuring that I live to be a very old, cantankerous, nosy old lady!

Kewcumber · 27/07/2011 17:34

If its any help to you Littlefish - below BMI 35 the NHS is generally not very interested in you! The doctors at the weight management centres consider anything below 30 to be pretty healthy from a risk point of view - obviously its healthier to be 20-25 but most of the co-morbidities (if thats the right word) drop to approaching normal levels at around 30 which is when you drop from morbidly obese to just good old fashioned overweight.

I was really thrilled the other day to be told that with my newly reduced blood pressure and reduced insulin resistance my heart disease risk has dropped to something like 4%! Even though I have cholesterol just above normal levels they have said there is no point treating it as my other risk fatcors are so low. Some of that is my increased exercise levels though rather than the weight loss (though of course they are linked).

I learnt to ride last month Blush and am hoping to buy a bike soon and pootle around with DS in an attempt A) to keep him active and healthy B) to leave the car at home more C) to look like a rather more glamorous Miss Marple swanning around Kew. Off to a second hand vintage bike shop this week hopefully

2lb off!

27.5lbs now. I weigh 11 stone 11 lbs at the moment and my WW leader would like me to be 10st 12lb ish.

Am going away on 7 August so reckon I could do another lb before we head off.

herdingcats · 27/07/2011 20:32

Hello everyone, loads of good WI results this week.
I am back on the game this week and am happy to report a 3lb lossGrin
Even more sure now that the stand in leader last week had scales which were not measuring as my usual leaders.

wizzler · 27/07/2011 20:34

Weighed in yesterday and lost 2lbs. Bit of a shock because I have eased off counting everything since getting to goal, but ( obviously!) very pleased! Well done Littlefish, and Collision, Mrs, Summmer and Kew.

Just wanted to say to everyone who is stuggling... keep going... it is sometimes tough, and can seem dull, and v. irritating when you try hard and then stay the same or put on a small amount, but in the long run it is so worth it when you go down a dress size, or fit into old jeans, or when someone who hasnt seen you in ages does a doubel take.. so keep going !

Littlefish · 27/07/2011 23:03

Kew - that's really interesting about the BMI of under 35. My BMI is now 32.5, compared with something like 38 or 39 when I started. I'm really looking forward to being "overweight", rather than "obese"! Now that really will be something to celebrate. Grin

Wizzler - I'm planning to make some friends of mine do a double take. I haven't seen them since last summer, before I started losing weight. I'm seeing them in a couple of weeks and haven't told them that I've lost nearly 4 stone, so hopefully they will provide me with a satisfying double take. Smile

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 28/07/2011 08:02

Littlefish you're at about the same stage as I am, my BMI is about 32 I think and I've lost about 4.5 stone since last summer. We're off to stay in the same place as we did last year so hopefully the people there will see a big difference. I absolutely can't wait to be over weight, I will celebrate when I see that. Very interesting info on BMI Kew, thanks.

I was so ashamed to see this thread whilst stuffing my face yesterday that I weighed myself to see the damage of the last 3 weeks, have put on about 5 pounds. Am off to Germany for two weeks this weekend so will put on but will try to be fairly active and will try to track to some extent to limit damage. Then when we come back the kittens will be downstairs so we should get to sleep the whole night instead of bring up 3 or 4 times. Plan is to get to then try to shift as much as I can the last 3 weeks of the holidays getting me back to where I was 3 weeks ago and move forward in the Autumn shifting around a stone and a half by Christmas then a further stone after Christmas. If it does take longer then it takes longer and I'm not going to stress.

Wizzler wise words, thank you. Have decided I am going to buy something to aim to get into by Christmas to reboot motivation in September.

NorkyButNice · 28/07/2011 09:08

Well done to all the losers on the thread! I put on half a pound this week (boo) - I'd not stuck properly to tracking as we had 2 takeaways, and it's my totm so hopefully it will come off next week.

I agree with Kew that there is a much bigger emphasis on healthy living with the new system, and hopefully it will be easier to maintain the weight loss when we reach goal. I've lost and re-gained the same 5 stone 3 times by doing WW and then going back to my old ways when I got close to goal. Each time the weight dropped off (losing 3 or 4 lb a week), whereas this time it's coming off slower. Hopefully that's a good thing in the long term.

Enjoy your holidays all those who are going away. We were supposed to go away with my in-laws on the 6th august but might be staying put after all.

Kewcumber · 28/07/2011 15:34

My GP recommends a loss of 1-2kg per month - he says its teh only way to keep it off. Very slowly and making small cahnges you can maintain.

vnmum · 28/07/2011 19:22

well done to all the losers this week. I seem to have gained back the 2lb i lost last week but never mind. a friend of mine has joined WW and is going to a class near me so i am going to start tagging along with her so it should help me to keep at goal

herdingcats · 28/07/2011 20:07

Sorry 6to hear about the little gains. I'm sure I will struggle this weekend as we're off camping and I don't intend on cooking everyday. That would definately not be a break. DH has been informed that he is in charge of finding nice places to eatWink
Catch up with you all next week, happy pointing Grin

JennyPiccolo · 28/07/2011 22:45

fancy weighing myself tomorrow, i just ignored it on sunday when i was supposed to. Would i be better waiting until this sunday?

ObviouslyOblivious · 28/07/2011 23:59

Hello! Can I join please? DS is 6 months tomorrow and I'm still BF whilst beginning BLW. I joined WW 2 months ago but didn't get on with dieting while EBF - felt very ill!

However had a eureka moment today when a tube worker offered my a baby on board badge Blush so I MUST get on with this weight loss. So I'm back on the WW and hope to feel better this time. Will get starting weight in the morning.

Whitershadeofpale · 29/07/2011 09:41

I had a 1.5lb gain this week. No idea why, I've began working out this week too. I'm just going to take it on the chin and carry on, I'm sure my body will adjust in afew weeks.

JennyPiccolo · 29/07/2011 16:10

i seem to only register a loss once every two weeks? It's weird.

JennyPiccolo · 29/07/2011 16:15

I've lost 4lbs today, but didnt weigh myself last week so that's effectively two weeks loss. Quite pleased!

The WW website told me i was losing weight too quickly though. Is 2lbs a week too quick or has it computed my 4lbs loss was just for this week because i didnt track last week?

Collision · 29/07/2011 16:21

1-2lbs a week is fine Jenny.

Am pleased that I am on track to lose my 2 stone before holiday next Sunday though it has taken me ages!!

My size 14 jeans are now hanging off me!

MollyMurphy · 29/07/2011 16:25

I lost a measly 0.6 this week for a total of 8.4 in 3 weeks. It was a rough week. Note to self not to blow all my PP in one go at the start of the week ever again. Definately felt like a diet this week without some PP's to use each day.

One good thing about WW - you get a fresh start every 7 days....thank god.
