Thanks for the welcome.

vnmum Australia is a lovely place, but it's not home. We're over here on a 2 year contract for my DH's work - 18months to go. No spiders or snakes yet (well apart from a small carpet python, nicknamed Steve, who lives in the garden) and the weather has been nice, however the rainy season starts soon again apparently!

It does feel a bit like an alien language at the moment. My natural inclination is not to eat bread but then it's hard to find enough points to eat!

MrsWajs · 03/08/2011 22:54

Gaaah stayed the same this week, not chuffed. Was really hoping for at least a pound. It's only week 3 for goodness sake!! Must not drink wine or eat jaffa cakes this week!

Pinkjenny Your weightloss so far seems fine! 1-2lbs a week is about the norm and i'm pretty sure a bigger loss in the first week is normal. I had period this week too so am blaming that for staying the same as I'm pretty sure I was just well within my points limit!

SummerLeaps · 04/08/2011 06:31

Welcome Trinity Welcome Pink! Welcome everyone new!

Trinity you sound so low, dear. I personally felt that too when I joined, but I feel really positive now. IMO WW does really work. I really like your idea of alternating fish and meat meals, and might copy that if that is okay. Wink Sounds really good.

Pink I am like you, i keep thinking that surely something like this does not work, but it really seems to. Your weightloss is a good one, and 1 pound a week is 52 pounds a year- not to be sneezed at!

My experience of WW is this.... I am on 29 points. I use all of my 29 points a day. I usually use all of my 49 weeklies, and I more often than not use all of my activity points too. I have a pedometer and on days I am not working I average 7 points, days I am I average 2 points, so I build up quite a few activity points. I am losing a bit under a pound a week. It is slow, but it is something I can live with. I have only lost 11 pounds so far (been going for 12 weeks). I have about 7 to go, so I am happy to just take it easy, although if i had more alcohol-free weeks i know I would lose more quickly. I do not mind going slow because psychologically I cannot bear thinking that I am on a diet. So I really relish the wriggle room of the weeklies.

I do not really have the nerve yet to eat very complicated points wise things, so I tend to have protein of some sort and veg/salads and i eat ALOT of fruit. SW also did not work for me, because saying that I had unlimited potatos or pasta for example was just a licence to go wild.

Right now I am feeling very positive, although I DO wish i had cracked goal before my vacation- not ready for the bikini yet - but never mind. I keep telling myself that if i had not joined WW I would still be where was.

Actually, I may try and track while on vacation... hmmm....

Anyway, good luck to you all. :) Have nice days.

NorkyButNice · 04/08/2011 10:21

Welcome Trinity and PinkJenny - I hope you're both finding the plan OK to stick to.

I lost 2 yesterday, which makes 8lbs in 5 weeks. Slow and steady wins the race (that's what I'm telling myself anyway).

DH and the kids are going away without me for a few days and I'm not sure whether I'll find it easier or harder to control my eating when I'm on my own!

vnmum · 04/08/2011 10:53

well done summer, collision, norky

welcome trinity, pinkjenny the plan does work, there are quite a few of us on this board who have reached goal with it. I too found SW just gave me a licence to scoff (chips, jackets, eggs, beans, yoghurt etc) and i didn'y lose much on it yet have got to goal easily with WW. the weight doesn't come off as quickly with WW as it does with SW but 1-2lbs a week means it is more likely to stay off longterm, plus the portion control it teaches you.

I have lost 2lbs this week so pleased with that, i am back on the downward trend

herdingcats · 04/08/2011 16:00

Hi all welcome Pink and Trinity.
I as expected gained this week,1.5lb. Not too down as I had drank enough water yesterday to sink a battle ship ,was bunged up from campingBlush
also it was mentioned to me if I had done lots more excercise I would be holding onto fluids more. I am banking on this being true as I earned 95 activity PP over the weekend according to E-sourceShock
Strict will be my middle name this weekWink

TrinIsASadSpottyFatRhino · 04/08/2011 16:02

messed up today after a 2 hour mortgage appointment and had aa bacon sandwhich

Sad
TrinIsASadSpottyFatRhino · 04/08/2011 16:04

I cant do it, what the hell is wrong with me

I hate my six months pregnant look and I'm NOT kidding

but I keep eating

fucking twat

Whitershadeofpale · 04/08/2011 16:17

Trin You're being really hard on yourself. It's OK to eat, just not too much of the wrong stuff. When I begin a diet, I find that I can't stop thinking about food, if you're the same my advice would be to exploit that. All that time you spend thinking about food, think about healthy foods you like.

I'm saving money by not buying so much crap and takeaways and am using that money to treat myself to food in different ways. For example, a really great cut of fillet steak or fresh scallops will make me salivate at the thought of dinner and not even notice that they're low in pp. Smile

MrsWajs · 04/08/2011 17:45

Trin One bacon sandwich isn't going to ruin everything. Just start over again from tomorrow. That's what I do when I have a bad day, for example last Friday I went out and drank a bottle and a half of wine and about 20 a few vodkas and then on Saturday I went wild and ate half the days points in jaffa cakes!! But I stayed the same at my weigh in, so even though I messed up I didn't put anything on which is the main thing and all because I just got myself back on track on the Sunday. So honestly please don't beat yourself up over one bacon sandwich - it's not the end of the world and you CAN do this. :)

benbon · 04/08/2011 21:13

yeah freaking yeah... weigh in this morning after 2 week all inclusive holiday and ive lost 3.5lbs!!! did a little dance on the scales!!! was so shocked!! only 8 lbs to goal now!! SmileSmileSmile

MrsDistinctlyMintyMonetarism · 04/08/2011 21:48

Trin, a bacon sandwich isn't that bad. Remember that you have 49 weekly points to deal with just this sort of calamity.

What you need to do is plan - take snacks with you if at all possible so that you don't dive into something gorgeous but high points that isn't a great choice.

On Tuesday I was on a whole day school trip so I took a little lunchbox stuffed with goodies but low pointies and managed not to snarf the scones that we made together [virtuous emoticon].

We can do it. Plus if you look 6 months pg, take pity on me who could not be mistaken for anything other than fat! Grin

This morning I am about to have french toast crumpets. Not quite sure about this, but here I go! Should be 5 points or so.

vnmum · 04/08/2011 21:53

well done benbon
trinity Thats what your 49 are for. Just make sure you track everything and if you go over all your points you can still see how many you need to try and earn in activity points to balance it out. Some weeks I have eaten all my points plus another lot of weeklies and still managed to STS. Try and plan and see if you can find some low point snacks that fill a gap eg sweet tooth etc

MrsDistinctlyMintyMonetarism · 04/08/2011 22:47

Oh my. Not sure what they put in crumpets over here - but that was disgusting.

Think it'd be lovely with the ones in the uk though -

French Toast crumpets - 8 Pro points

1 egg
1tbs skim milk
0.5 tsp vanilla extract
0.5 tsp ground cinnamon
2 x 49g crumpets
2 tsp maple syrup

spray pan with oil.
Whisk egg, milk, vanilla and cinnamon in a bowl, then place crumpets in mixture and leave to stand (turning regularly) until absorbed.

Cook crumpets for a couple of minutes each side until golden.

Top with peaches or strawberries and maple syrup.

Whitershadeofpale · 05/08/2011 09:26

WI last night. 2.5lbs off.

NorkyButNice · 05/08/2011 09:54

Well done benbon and whiter!

trinity really don't stress about the bacon sandwich. Unless you ate a whole loaf of bread and half a pig then you'll be well within your 49 weeklies. As for looking 6 months pregnant - join the club! I had DS2 a year ago and I swear my belly is almost as big now as it was then. At least we're doing something about it!

vnmum · 05/08/2011 12:06

well done whiter
distinctly Those crumpets sound nice but abit too sweet for me, i don't seem to be able to stomach very sweet things now(except chocolate and ice cream)

JennyPiccolo · 05/08/2011 21:17

i like crumpets toasted with low fat spread and cinnamon on. Farking lovely. DP slathers his in butter, the bastard.

lost 2lbs today! Have changed my weigh in date to Friday because i cant cope on a Sunday. That's my 10% done.

Trin, i also still look pregnant but you need to be easy on yourself. You've taken steps towards improving your health and that's a big deal in itself. Just get back on track. You've not blown it, you can still lose this week.

ShouldersBackAndNoBiscuits · 05/08/2011 21:44

Hi everyone, have been away on holiday, then started back at withk from mat leave this week, so have been awol for a while!
I am pleased to report that I have managed to stay at 7lbs below my official goal weight despite the above, so am really pleased! Had a work night out last night and saw lots of people who I haven't seen since before having DD2 (so about 5.5 stone ago!) Was a great confidence boost as I barely had time to eat through explaining to all the people who were paying me compliments how I had lost the weight! It felt brilliant walking in and getting some proper double takes from people!

I've been at goal for 2 months now, so my new target is to still be here when I've been back at work for a month...

Well done to all my fellow losers, hope I have missed lots of goal getters and mini Target reaching in my absence!

Pinkjenny · 06/08/2011 12:21

A 1lb loss here, taking me to 7lb in 3 weeks. I'm pleased, I think, and trying not to compare it to other diets I've done in the past.

What are your 'go to' foods, what do you eat a lot of? I need ideas, and not elaborate ones! Grin

wizzler · 06/08/2011 18:10

Well done to all you losers!
Trin.. take heart.. I too sported the pregnant look for some time. The good news is that when you start to lose weight, thats the bit you lose first... I think its the fat round your internal organs.. keep going.. it was just a small blip

Pink.. I make up batches of butternut squash soup ( a recipie Blondes gave me on one of these threads)...then I know if I am going out for a meal in the evening I can have a satisfying lunch with Zero pp.

Welcome back Shoulders... going back to work is so hard.. but the weight loss would make it a lot easier

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/08/2011 14:25

wangle99 · 07/08/2011 19:48

Hi Ladies can I join you? I did cambridge diet last year and lost all my weight and loved it, got ill took various pain killers that made me either starving (so I ate) or feeling sick (so I ate to stave off the sickness), have gained alot back but GP feels weight watchers would be better than shakes again (although i'm desperate to lose weight quickly!).

Am really nervous about the new propoints as worried it won't work, am going to read back through the threads and see what you all have to say but thought I'd come say 'Hi'.

I can't really exercise at the moment, been diagnosed with ME and going through a bad patch at the moment am really hoping the lack of exercise doesn't stop my weight loss :( I was going to the gym 5 days a week before I got ill so really struggling.

Anyway day 1 for me today and have four points left might treat myself shortly :)

Sarah

spudulika · 07/08/2011 20:03

Hi all,
Haven't been on for a bit, or to a ww meeting - just too much going on with the children in the holidays.

BUT - have lost about 7 lbs overall since starting the diet, so very happy, given how hard it's been to do stuff during the holidays, and all the temptations I've had to deal with. (dd's birthday, two barbecues....., a meal out). Quite proud of myself actually. Smile

When they go back to school I'm going to throw myself into it. Want to lose 3 stone altogether by Christmas.

HattiFattner · 07/08/2011 20:09

welcome Sarah! Ive found PP pretty easy - forces me to make choices about what Im eating. SO I could go have a raisin scone that's sitting in the bread bin right now...eyeing me up.....calling my name.....yearning for butter and a nice cuppa.....

But I make a choice (as weigh in is tomorrow) and say no no no, I shall have a plum or a nectarine if Im hungry, or a crumpet :D thus saving 3 points.

I think portion control is also becoming very evident to me after 2 months - I was eating WAAAAAy to much of the wrong stuff, had that automatic hand to mouth without passing brain thing going on.

Ive done most diet types - shakes, high protein, you name it, Ive done it. This seems pretty easy most of the time and allows me to have those sneaky treats. That said, I have struggled this week.

I have not been physically very active....I am naturally sloth like, but I have lost steadily. Over hols, I rediscovered geocaching with friends and have done some great walks this week to earn me 21 points. happy days. Im hoping by increasing my exercise over this and next week, I will start to feel more in the habit of doing some exercise.
