Hi all!

Hope the title is ok - if not, someone else can do another one Grin

Oh bee I did guess right...I POAS last year in the evening and it showed a faint line. I waited a few more days, did it in the morning then got a bfp! It must be worrying/frustrating/exciting but I guess you're just going to have to wait it out? Eating chocolate in the meantime is allowed, isn't it?! Wink

P.S Have a cyber kick-up-the-arse, an un-MN hug, and a quick 'snap out of it' slap across the chops, all at the same time Grin

grinningbee · 25/08/2011 12:10

Thank you Slinky! Just what I needed Wink

The chilli is bubbling away on the cooker at the mo. Looks nice. Can't decide whether or not to bung another can of beans in it. I'll move the recipe over to the other fred later.

I think I am going to make myself wait until Saturday or Sunday before testing again. It's too easy to get carried away (as evidenced by lots of hpt boxes in the laundry basket!!).

Best go, ds has just escaped into the kitchen for the first time. Eeeeeeek!

Also bee I forgot to reply to last night's comment on the footy - it's actually me that's the Gooner (well, was when I was younger, before I discovered boys and alcohol !) and that is such a weird fact about the days you had your children! Dp was actually trying to work out the odds last night.

Welcome to makingchanges - everyone is very lovely, helpful and supportive here so you're in the right place.

I have reached my target of losing a stone, in eight weeks! Am very proud of myself Grin But my question is, do I set myself a new target? Or just keep going?

We have a professional photographer coming in a little over five weeks to take our first family portraits. Am thinking of trying to lose another 7lbs in that time, do you think that's do-able? My BMI is still over 25 at the moment, and I'd love to be back to a size 14 again.

Well done on 2lbs of WWWY!

SlinkyB · 25/08/2011 12:19

off

grinningbee · 25/08/2011 13:09

Well done on the goal Slinky 7lb should be doable in 4 weeks. As for goal setting, depends on if it motivates you or puts you off!

I bet the odds were quite long on the dc's birth. I checked the fixtures last night, and they're playing again on April 21st Grin. That would be about a week or two early though if there had been a bean.

OP posts:
SlinkyB · 25/08/2011 13:30

You're sure to make the national newspapers if you do give birth when they play again!

My Baby Jogger City Mini has just arrived; hope it's as good as all the MNers say it is! 'Tis my first lightweight stroller, so don't have anything to compare it to (other than the M&P travel system I've been using).

Today's food so far has been:

B: 28g (ish) Fruit and Fibre
Snack: nectarine, apple and ff yogurt (that's fat-free, not formula-fed)
L: two quorn sausages, syn-free chips and salad (fridge is bare, using stuff up) and an Alpen Light Bar (3 syns I think?).

Not sure on dinner, chicken and veg I think, must pop to Sainsbury's.

SIL has offered to have ds for a couple of hours when he wakes up, so am looking forward to having the house to myself...although not sure sorting out my wardrobe is the most fun way to spend the time. Maybe I'll do it naked whilst listening to really loud music.

Think I felt a little tooth poking out of ds's gum earlier - his first tooth, bless! Grin

Cheeseandbiscuits · 25/08/2011 15:28

Grin bee. Give it another 24 hrs and retake in the morning. How you feeling about a potential BFP?
Well done all on losses.

No iron bru or fried mars bars consumed but bacon sarnies, choc fudge cakeWink

On train bk to London, 2.5 hours left and DD sleeping. Back on diet tomorrow, starting with an early morn shred!

grinningbee · 25/08/2011 15:53

Mmmmmm bacon sarnies and fudge cake

A BFP would be lovely. A lot to get my head around though! I would have a 36 month old, a 17 month old and a new baby.

I was extremely disappointed this morning, so I suppose that tells me how I fell about another! It's so annoying though. I do feel pg. The boobs are doing their thing and I can't explain the feeling in the bun oven department, but it feels as though something is going on. But I have a raging backache on my right lower side, so who knows.

I think dh is just as upset as me bless him.

Anyhoo. Enough of my waffling! I'm impressed at you even contemplating the shred in the morning. Mad as a mad thing Wink

OP posts:
pixiestix · 25/08/2011 21:51

Oh my god Bee, how exciting and nerve-wracking. Will be crossing my fingers for a BFP for you. At least it sounds like you and DH are on the same page about it.

Went to my first London SW group tonight, expecting to be named and shamed after a week of eating kebabs and fry ups and I had lost a pound! Confused Weirdness. Not complaining though! The group was rubbish - six people stayed and the group leader was dead chuffed at such a bumper turnout! Might look for another group a bit more lively.

Have been rubbish with posting as the big move has been happening Sad We are in the new place now with boxes up to the ceiling and both miserable and pining for home Sad Meh.

Must do better to catch up with the thread

Makingchanges · 25/08/2011 23:45

Evening all.

Well I spent a couple of hours this afternoon going through this thread. You guys have given me lots of great ideas. I also found your recipe thread and this evening have cooked the quorn bolognaise which I am taking with me on my cycling weekend to try and avoid naughty treats. (and freezing the other half for a tea next week) I also copied out the pork with bacon and sage stuffing for next week.

I'm going to try and get my head around the concept more this weekend with my copy of the last mag and my copy of the food optimising booklet. I think I rushed into this without fully understanding it

LittlePushka · 26/08/2011 00:05

Good evening making changes - very impressed at the cycling weekend. Hope that you start to feel at one with the options. I find that it is really helpful to plan (or at least think about) what I will have a day or two in advance so I do not find myself at 8pm, ravenous and pushing plain boiled pasta in my face!

Quorn pieces taste great, are filling and are free on EE. That is my top tip!

Riasdragonflytattoo · 26/08/2011 00:10

very exciting bee. fingers crossed.
my DH would be chuffed to bits if it was me (despite the whole lack of space/lack of employment issues). He thinks he has supersonic "boys" though as he has a lump, which when it was declared "non-threatening" was deemed to be a blockage which may affect his success rate. It doesn't. But he would love to beat the implant barrierWink

DH is watching Torchwood... it could work wonders for my diet. Have nearly thrown up twice in the last ten minutes (just the blood bits BTW, didn't watch Captain Jack do his stuff, though I heard itHmm) Not sure why Gwen has morphed into Nessa though?

last day of holiday preparations tomorrow. I will have to get my finger out. Am at that point where it's all too much effort and I want to cancel and sit and cry. Not helped by having 2 OU things due in the next week. Had an email from my tutor, I think she might have been gently hinting that I should be prepared for a fail (fair enough, I haven't enjoyed it).

Riasdragonflytattoo · 26/08/2011 00:12

also impressed at planning ahead for cycling weekend Smile where are you going? do you camp?

grinningbee · 26/08/2011 09:02

Morning all!

Isn't it a revolting day. Dark, gloomy and rainy.

Ria I can imagine your dh thinking he had supersperm if he ever "completed the challenge" Wink.

Making I am impressed at the organisation. But camping in this weather? Eeeek. And this is from someone who in a past life camped as a girl guide.

The chilli was a big success, although I think 2 tins of kidney beans was a bit much. Might try 1 of those and 1 of baked beans next time. It was lovely, and dh liked it. However... his nocturnal emmissions were almost vomit inducing!

Food for the day:

Weetabix and a banana
Beans on toast
Leftover chilli and rice. God help my nose tonight!

P.S The test is calling from the bathroom, but I will resist Grin

OP posts:
Riasdragonflytattoo · 26/08/2011 10:33

morning. it is miserable, and not at all encouraging re packing and getting set for tomorrow Sad

SlinkyB · 26/08/2011 11:16

Morning. bee - it's only one can of kidney beans! Coupled with the flatulence-inducing quorn, I'm not surprised your bedroom was explosive last night! Glad you enjoyed.

The subject of SW boo-boos further up the thread (dried fruit not 'free' food) reminded me of one a few years ago. The class I was going to had a man there that lost loads one week, and when the consultant asked the inevitable "what did you do differently?" he replied "I've been drinking loads of Innocent Smoothies - they're great!" Eeek! Cue the whole room of people sucking air through their front teeth, ha ha! If only fruit smoothies were 'free' Sad

I've fallen off the wagon the past day or so and been snacking on naughty foods almost non-stop. Feeling more positive today though so will try and get back on plan (although it's hard knowing what I've got coming up this weekend...).

WhatsWrongWithYou · 26/08/2011 11:50

Morning all. I think I've lost another pound! Hmm That makes three this week. Mind you, it's the Monday morning weigh-in that counts for me - I usually find my weekend treat of a slab piece of cake and several a few glasses of wine outdo all I've achieved Mon to Fri.
So I'm back to my pre-holiday weight as per start of August.

Can anyone give me a clue about sweet potatoes? Are they free on food optomising? I find them a great alternative to spuds, very filling and satisfying, so they're great for original days, but not so great if they're not free.

I seem to have set myself up for a lot of meaty days this week, the fridge has been groaning with minced pork, beef, lamb, chicken pieces and turkey steaks. Must try and wedge in some green days, but I find those harder work as the DCs are dedicated carnivores and wouldn't thank me for a permanent diet of rice and pulses!

What I have found successful, though, is the Epicure packs of mixed beans. They're an expensive way to buy what's effectively a few pence-worth of re-hydrated beans, but each pack has a recipe on the back which I just make up and chuck in a few chorizo sausages for the kids. Adds a bit of fat flavour for myself and DH as well.

I've still got leftover bolognaise sauce in the fridge, plus last night's lamb koftas, so I suppose that'll constitute lunch in some form. Then we'll have a Thai chicken curry later, cauliflower rice for myself and DH.
On with the day!

Riasdragonflytattoo · 26/08/2011 11:57

have just submitted a truly dismal iCMASad. does anyone know if my tutor might just get in touch and tell me I'm not going to reach the required level so may as well not bother?Sad Hate having to take my TMA stuff on holiday again, but it has to be done and I will have to submit at the library. At least it's due Thursday, and I will have to submit on Wednesday due to bizarre rural library times, so I will get some time off...

thats a lot of kidney beans! someone at our group was slimmer of the week twice eating Iceland/farmfoods own brand veggie mince assuming it was free, not the permitted quornHmm

grinningbee · 26/08/2011 12:04

WWWY I just looked up sweet potatoes. They're 6 syns per 100g baked on original, and free on EE and green.

Slinky I knew it was one can, but had had two lurking at the back of the cupboard for ages and decided to bung them both in. I will not be doing that again!! (TMI - dh went to the loo this morning and left whole kidney beans welded to the side of the bowl. Bleurgh!!).

Ria put down the scary ou stuff and get packing woman Wink

I smell of bleach. I have been killing mould in the bedroom. Yuck. The mould sadly has left a stain, so it looks as if I'll be repainting. Now, just how do you do that with a 2 year old and 9 month old around??? I think I'll have to do a little bit at a time.

OP posts:
grinningbee · 26/08/2011 12:28

Oh, and a word of caution on pork mince. I thought the Sainsbury's Be Good pork mince was syn free. Nope. It's 7.5 syns for a 500g pack. The only syn free one apparently is Tesco's.

Found that out in a little booklet that came with the new SW mag today.

OP posts:
grinningbee · 26/08/2011 12:29

Oh Ria. Can you take a break from it? It sounds very tough and you need a break. You have so much going on!

OP posts:
WhatsWrongWithYou · 26/08/2011 12:44

I understood pork mince to be free on original days. That's what the SW recipe said anyway. Didn't specify where it had to come from though. Mine was Waitrose organic I think. This is so confusing!
Thanks for the sweet potato info.

whatkungfuthat · 26/08/2011 12:55

Af'noon, just back from Sainsbo's so I'm ready for next week. DP and I were considering using our date night tomorrow to go for a really long walk instead of out somewhere nice, thats a bit sad. Although looking at this weather its highly doubtful. I have catsbum face as he has now lost 5lbs including the indian, where he ate loads more than me and had a sausage and some skin off the chicken on Sunday, grrr.

Ria what are you studying? Sorry if I'm being thick. When the kids go back I'll be taking my PRINCE2 exams, but studying while they are about is impossible.

Food
Toast and banana
Yoghurt and fruit (didn't have the toast till late)
Stir fry prawns with noodles
Its wine night, yay!

etodd81 · 26/08/2011 13:47

Hiya- can I join? I just posted a message in another thread then saw the link for this thread, duh!! I started SW yesterday, weighing in at 14 st 11, at 5 foot 8. My weight came as no surprise but I was still a bit mortified. Never done a slimming club before so it's all new to me. I've piled it on after 2 kids in 18 months. My stomach in particular is a sight to behold!! Has anyone got any tips for me as to the first few weeks of the SW plan? I'm doing extra easy. Also, I'm off out tomoz to celebrate my 30th. Can I save up my syns and use them all on one night for wine??

whatkungfuthat · 26/08/2011 13:59

Welcome etodd I do exactly that with the wine. The main thing to remember I think is make sure a third of the plate is superfree food. I don't know why it works but it does. Also, don't go hungry, get lots of fruit and fat free yoghurts. Which plan are you doing? I do the EE with the odd green or red day when things slow down (did it last year and lost 4 stone before I fell off the wagon and went to WW where it all went it a bit awry).
