Whilst shopping with my super slim friend over the weekend I realised just how fat I feel - and getting on the scales provided proof. I've put on 2 stone - 1 stone of which has come on very recently ( think a month or two?!).
Other than looking lumpy and increasingly featureless, my legs are achy and I don't feel like I've woken up properly ever.
So, I'm going to start on the diet today. The plan is to eat lots of veg and fruits, lean meats, and limited carbs. I'm going to have 3 decent sized meals a day, and not snack unless I'm truely hungry.

I'm going to weigh myself and post on here every Tuesday. Anyone who wants to join in please do!

Starting weight; 11st 13.
(Target weight 10st so 1st 13lbs to lose)

Well done tinker, you are doing great. I used to love that post exercise buzz - have a long way to go before I get it again though.

The original plan was to weigh-in on a Friday morning, but some are doing other days for various reasons.

Well, I resisted cake, bought a ploughmans for lunch and left the bread, pickle and coleslaw and chopped about 30g of cheddar off the enormous chunk I was given to eat, so am feeling very virtuous.

Also walked pretty much solidly (with half an hour for lunch) from 10.00 am to 2.00 pm, wearing my beloved MBTs and my legs are definitely feeling it, so hoping that will have burned a few calories - got to be better than being stuck in the house anyway.

Good shopping trip all round actually. Spent all my birthday vouchers on a lovely watch reduced from 100.00 to 50.00, plus three sets of undies and a top from Bravissimo without spending so much as a penny from the bank account. Grin My best bargain had to be the library books they were selling off though. I bought eleven books for the dcs and two books on tape for them to listen to on our holiday journey for £1.50.Shock Some really beautiful hard-backs in there as well - now that's what I call a bargain! Grin

Can I join in too? Just came off Sertraline,I put on 2 stone in 6 months, am starting an MA in sept, daunted by meeting nubile young whippersnappers with my ageing fat bod.
Have been doing free internet site food focus, which takes ages to fill in, at least I'm not eating when I'm filling it in,, feel starving, swimming and walking, but have not lost an ounce so far. Ok Ive only been on it 3 days so far.
Starting weight : 10st 10lb
Goal weight : 9 st 10lb

moosemama · 23/06/2011 16:58

Hello hoocymama1.

Have you tried My Fitness Pal? Its another free internet based weight/exercise log. I used to use food focus and found it a real pain. I started using MFP last week and find its much quicker to use and generally a more useful tool.

moosemama · 23/06/2011 16:59

That should read hoochymama1. Apologies for my terrible typing. Blush

hoochymama1 · 23/06/2011 17:14

Will give it a try!
Just off to do tea, I've got 4 dch, and the challenge is to do food for them that isn't too low fat, yesterday I was slipping butter into their food, to up the calories.
DH says he needs to lose 1/2 a stone, but he seems to lose weight so darn easily.

moosemama · 23/06/2011 17:39

I'm cooking separate meals for myself and my 3 dcs at the moment. I hate it with a passion but it makes it so much easier to work out my intake and ds1 is gluten free which makes meal planning a nightmare anyway, let alone adding my diet into the picture.

Forgot to say the other day when I had my weigh in that I have moved out of the obese BMI category and into the overweight one. Its only 7lbs, but it feels like a definite shift in the right direction and whilst I hate being overweight, it sounds so much better than obese.

Weigh in tomorrow morning for me. Not sure I wil have lost any more though. 7lbs is a fair amount for one week and I know that its only because I am so overweight that I lost that amount so quickly - it will probably settle down to a much more sedate rate of loss in week two.

magicstick · 23/06/2011 18:01

moosemama · 23/06/2011 18:58

Hello magicstick.

Are you doing a specific diet and exercise plan or just healthy eating and being more active?

itsnicetobenice · 24/06/2011 07:53

tinker316 · 24/06/2011 08:21

Pre-pregnancy I was 8stone- I'm being realistic that I probably won't get down 2 that weight again Wink
So I am aiming 8.5-9 stone

bogle · 24/06/2011 11:51

Hi all

last week 11.05
this week 11.06 :( (but was 11.09 on monday so there you go)

kkey21 · 24/06/2011 11:57

12.3 (Weds 14th june)

11.11 (Fri 24th June)

Woo-Hoo right direction! I have followed my Slimming World guide (ish) and exercised 4 times since last weigh in (Gym and Zumba, with the usual running around like a headless chicken in between)

Next week goal is 11.10 please!

tinker316 · 24/06/2011 12:18

Been bit naughty Blush had crafty sliceof cake!! I'm so ashamed-but I jar been awake since 8am yesterday & dreaded 'P' started this morning, so needed a sugar fix.
Will def b good 4 rest of the day & may try 2 get a shred session in Wink

erebus · 24/06/2011 12:26

Friday weigh in:

Start weight (May 4th) (7 1/2 weeks ago)- 13 stone, BMI 30!
Today 11st 11lbs BMI 26.6
Target 10st 10lbs BMI 24.2

SO my weight loss to date works out about 2lb a week, average.
Right now, it's a lb a week after the inevitable bigger losses at the beginning. I'm happy with a lb as I think it's sustainable, or rather, the loss will stay off rather than that I will go on losing 1lb a week indefinitely!

My 'diet' isn't one, it's adapted 'Gillian Riley' which is about mindful eating, no bans, no calorie counting etc which works for me, except I am absolutely not supposed to be weighing myself! Blush

erebus · 24/06/2011 12:28

Kkey I see your target for next week is the same as mine!

Remember to post next Friday and good luck!

And tinker- I must say I tend to write off the time of the month stuff- the inevitable weight gain and I don't push myself to exercise til I feel ready again.

Lambskin · 24/06/2011 12:30

bogle you're still losing overall though so don't get concerned with minor glitches just carry on taking one day at a time, and remember what your start weight was and your reason for wanting to lose Smile

tinker as long as you enjoyed it! Cake is part of life you can't avoid it so a bit every now and again is ok, it's about balance isn't it?

Well done kkey21! It feels good to cross that band of weight doesn't it? 14=>13, 13=>12, 12=>11, and bring on 11=>10 !! Grin

Lambskin · 24/06/2011 12:32

Well done erebus too! That's how I see weight loss - slow and steady will keep it off. Smile

moosemama · 24/06/2011 14:09

Hi everyone

I have managed a 4 mile walk with dd in the pushchair this morning. Most of it was brisk or fast pace as well.

Right, weighed myself before brekkie this morning and:

Starting weight (Thursday 16 June): 14st 4lbs
Weight today: 13st 8lbs
Loss: 8lbs

Target(s):

  1. To get from obese BMI to overweight - achieved
  2. To get from overweight to healthy BMI - still got a way to go
  3. First weight target 11st 4lbs - seems like a million miles away at the moment
  4. Second and final weight target 10st 4lbs - maybe sometime next decade?

I think a fair amount of this week's loss was mostly water and am expecting it to slow down next week - hoping for 2lbs a week.

Its been a big lifestyle change for me, going from totally sedentary and eating cake and chocolate every evening to being generally active and eating healthy meals adding up to 1200 calories a day.

Am off to input my intake into MFP now.

madwomanintheattic · 24/06/2011 16:08

wooo moosemama! you go girl! Grin

i weighed in at 11.12 today, so lost a pound and a quarter (v important quarter Wink) this week. not bad since it was the week from hell and i may have indulged in the odd alcoholic beverage a couple of nights in a row... it's largely been a case of - get the kids to school, walk to where i parked the car last night and collect it Blush (we are moving on tuesday and so there has been a lot of 'goodbye and thanks for all the fish' stuff going on.)
but i have lost 4 lbs since i started, so i'm not too worried. it'll be easier when i'm not mostly panic-stricken and stressed Grin and after the next (and final) two 'goodbye' things... and then i have to mop up the tears from my girls. one of whom is always distraught when we move. Sad

will try and have a read of the thread later to catch up with what you are all up to, but have the furnace and ducts man coming with his giant hoovery thing to remove all traces of labrador from the house Grin so that i can present the receipt to the landlord ... this means i actually need to hoover the entire house myself before he gets here, otherwise the swathes of dog hair will just disappear back down the vents when he's gone Blush. why on earth did i move during the spring moulting season with the hairiest dogs in the world??!!
argh.

right, to hoover - but well done everybody, from a quick scan it looks as though there are no disasters!!

moosemama · 24/06/2011 17:13

Lol madwoman. It always drops off me quickly in the first week, then slows down to a more sensible weekly amount.

Remember, I had the most to lose on the thread and the bigger you are, the more likely it is to come off quickly in the first week or so. Looking at what I eat now for 1200 kcals a day, I daren't even think about what my calories per day were like beforehand. Things like my favourite dressed salad from Tesco are Shock Shock Shock I can now only have about a desertspoonful in a day, whereas before I'd have eaten half the pot. Blush I'm definitely learning a lot about portion size.

Your pound and a quarter is far more sensible and sustainable, especially when thinking about long-term weight loss.

Moving house is so incredibly stressful, I'm impressed you've managed to lose any weight - I think I would probably gain with that sort of stress going on.

I also have a condender in the 'hairiest dog in the world competition'. My lurcher can recarpet the ground floor of the house within half an hour of me vacumming, I've never known a dog like it!

Good luck with the move - hope it all goes smoothly.

Right, have to go and cook the dinner. Pasta with homemade sauce for everyone else and a quorn burger and ratatouille for me (made from the same ingredients as the pasta sauce, so I don't have to prepare two lots of vegetables).

Lovemy2babies · 24/06/2011 19:53

Can I join this thread? A little late in I know but my goal was to lose 2 stone too.

After dd2 was born o weighed 11st 4 lb
1 year on I know weigh 10 st, I would like to drop to 9 st.

I currently run 4km 3/4 times a week, am stopping bf and am eating less carbs.

I hope to get to know you all well!
X

moosemama · 24/06/2011 20:02

Hello lovemy2babies, sounds like you're doing really well, past the half way point to your 2 stone goal. Well done.

I'm always impressed and inspired when I hear about people sticking with it long-term - I fear this is where I may fall down.

Lovemy2babies · 24/06/2011 21:33

Thanks moose Smile
I have found that instead of obsessing over weight and food to concentrate on fitness and achieve running goals and naturally from there I'm not always thinking about food and getting demotivated when I don't lose any weight for a week which would always upset me and I would stop exercising.
I now think about achieving running goals instead of food.
I only started exercising in march do main weight loss has been over 4 months.
