I agree with that as I am heavier now than after my baby was 9 weeks old. I feel weird at the moment. Not sure if hungry or thirsty. Going for a sleep when I have caught up with my threads I am on and put the rest of the shopping away.

THE DRESS FITS!!!!!!

Sorry to shout but I am sooooo pleased and relieved! I would still like to lose another inch off my torso, but the pressure is off :):)

Not had the results of my glucose test yet - tomorrow apparently. Tonight I have had some delicious chocolate praline pudding thing, washed down with Cointreau. If the result comes back positive, things like that will no longer be allowed......

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 19/07/2011 22:10

Sleep and weight loss/gain are completely linked. Especially the way that our bodies put down visceral fat. It is something to do with cortisol levels I think.

blimey · 19/07/2011 23:09

and leptin which makes us hungry

blimey · 19/07/2011 23:10

many congrats on the dress fitting Ali!

tillyfernackerpants · 20/07/2011 09:24

Well done on the dress fitting Ali, what's the occasion?

I agree about the link between sleep & weight loss. I think as well (in my case anyway) when you're tired you just reach for the sugar highs like biscuits and cake rather than fruit, and then its a vicious circle. That's what I'm trying to break atm, given ds2 is now nearly 3 I no longer have an excuse!

TheOriginalFAB · 20/07/2011 09:34

Well done ALI!!

Niecie · 20/07/2011 10:53

Congratulations to Alibaba - phew! I bet you are pleased?!Smile

Tilly - don't feel bad. My youngest is nearly 8!! Blush

I bought The Duvet Diet a couple of years ago because I reckon lack of sleep is my biggest enemy and the chapters on sleep were very interesting. Crap diet though - just the usual low fat, low carbs, calorie counting. V disappointing. Anyway, it just occurred to me though that being pregnant is often blames for the weight gain, this section of MN is full of people wanting to lose baby weight. I knew that wasn't the case for me as I had lost mine within 2 weeks of giving birth both times and I just thought I was a greedy bloater who had lost all will power. Probably the real reason for me and many others is the change of lifestyle - all those broken nights. So now I am still a greedy so and so but one with an excuse! Grin

Even though mine are older and rarely bother us in the night, my sleep patterns are buggered. I go to bed far to late, a hang over from all those nights I stayed up knowing that it I went to bed before midnight I would be woken within minutes of going to sleep and I hated that so I stayed up until that first night feed was over. And unfortunately, the habit continues because I like the peace and quiet at night and I know I can do without sleep and there is always something better to do. Except that I can't really do without sleep because it has made me enormously fat.Blush

Anyway, on a happier note, it is DS1's 11th birthday today so cake and dinner out today. Can't believe where the years have gone. This time 11 years ago I had just arrived at the hospital, 4cm dilated and begging asking for an epidural. Daft the details you remember, isn't it?!

PositiveAttitude · 20/07/2011 11:25

Congratulations Ali.

Happy birthday for Mini Neicie too.

I believe the sleep thing, but think it is more to do with habits that are formed to get you through the lack of sleep. When I worked nights and sleep was impossible I drank gallons of diet cola and ate massive meals to keep me awake. (dont like coffee) I then had a family and I honestly did not have one unbroken nights sleep for 7 years. - my fault for having 5 DC with less than 6 years between eldest and youngest with a DH who worked away from home during the week!! I drank and ate to keep me going. I was not so big then,. because I was running around like a mad thing after them all, but the habits were formed then and I just continued. I would always had an evening "treat", heavily calorie laden, but just to make me feel a little better at the end of the day. I still feel as if I need something even now, but am far more sensible with waht it actually is!

I am at work, so really should go and tackle my overflowing "in" tray!! Be back later!!

ppeatfruit · 20/07/2011 12:45

HELLO EVERYONE I"M BACK Smile !!! Solo are you going somewhere posh in that lovely dress?

I totally agree about bad sleep causing weight gain. Also the more you run about in the day the more you loose (the less time spent on the compooter as well) Grin HOUSEWORK IS GOOD!!!! sorry i can't remember who said they might have to do it!

Welcome tilly It's the best diet or( non diet really) i have lost the 2 stone I needed to and still maintaining maybe loosing a little more now. You can go on and off it and throw away those cal. counters and crap diet foods.

TheOriginalFAB · 20/07/2011 14:21

The sleep thing works. I was so tired I went to bed and slept through lunch!

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 20/07/2011 15:33

Thank you everyone :) The occasion is my friend's wedding, and I am a bridesmaid - so I can't just dash out and buy another dress!! Anyway it does, and actually looks pretty good on and I have fab shoes to go with so I won't be feeling like a blob. :)

Fab - Grin I slept through breakfast yesterday (was at my parents and they swiped the boys away so that I could have a lie in, bless them) - it was lovely!! :)

Still no blood(y) test results. Grrrrrrr.

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 20/07/2011 18:13

Results are back!! NOT diabetic!! GrinGrin

Niecie · 20/07/2011 18:20

Yay - Well done!

Grin
TheOriginalFAB · 20/07/2011 18:37

Brilliant news.

tillyfernackerpants · 20/07/2011 20:37

Good news Ali!

Niecie · 20/07/2011 20:44

Been out for DS1's birthday tea and I left some fries!!! Shock

We did have birthday cake about 2 hours before tea but not a massive slice - once upon a time it wouldn't have made that much difference. Perhaps progress is being made.

TheOriginalFAB · 20/07/2011 20:47

Well done!

I had salad leaves and cheese for breakfast and didn't feel silly haven't something unusual to eat at that time. I just felt happy I ate something that wasn't junk. Slept through lunch so just 4 wholewheat crackers and houmous before school pick up. 1 small sausage and 2 small picnic eggs while sorting out the kids tea then soup and small bit of ds1 made bread for my dinner. I had a peanut butter ice cream lolly for pud.

MuffinsMummy · 21/07/2011 07:09

Hi all

DD3 eventually went to bed at 2.40 the other morning after plenty of crying and rocking! She normally sleeps really well but the last couple of weeks she has been waking quite a lot! Yesterday I noticed she has got 1 news tooth and another on the way! So that would probably explain it then!

She slept right through last night but I did dream about exh with his new girlfriend Sad and that I ran over 2 of DS1s friends as they were lying in the road Hmm

anyway better get up as I have to go to work! Last day of the workingweek yay Grin

TheOriginalFAB · 21/07/2011 07:37

Must be the night for the weird dreams. Mine was that my ex was staying in the room across the hall from us and dh seemed tolerant of me seeing him. There was no sex but I might have kissed him Hmm. His sister wouldn't let me near her baby as her husband hadn't yet been accepted into the family but I went to the house with my ex anyway. I got woken up at 4.40 by a car alarm and the dream continued.

ppeatfruit · 21/07/2011 08:40

That's all good news Ali well done !! How are the exercises going?

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 21/07/2011 08:53

The exercises have gone a bit by the wayside, I've been so stressed and preoccupied about my blood test results. I have kept up the press ups though and I am definitely getting stronger and my arms are less flabby Smile

Awful night here. DS1 awake at 3.45am and he didn't go back to his bed until 5.15. DS2 awake for a feed at 5.15 Hmm have managed a bit more sleep but I am shattered!!

MuffinsMummy · 21/07/2011 09:22

Ali that doesn't sound good will u get the chance of a nap today?

I really need to refocus on Pauling! I'm not eating as much as I was but not doing well enough to actually lose weight! I'm going to reread the book and try listening to the cd again. I tried putting some more Paul tracks on my iPhone but ended up deleting the one already on there Confused

Niecie · 21/07/2011 09:49

It was indeed the night for weird goings on. DH went to the loo about 3.30am. I happened to be awake and heard this really loud, terrified yell from the bathroom. I wondered what the hell had happened although as there was no loud crash so I knew he was upright. Apparently, as a shaking DH told me, he was frightened by the toilet roll holder. Hmm

He told me this morning that the end of the toilet roll somehow got attached to his person in the dark (I can only assume it was tucked inside his boxers, nothing too hideous) and as he walked across the bathroom, he heard this squeaking (the toilet roll holder) and something brushing against him (the toilet paper). He thought somebody was in the room with him.

Looks like I might need to look elsewhere for help in the event of a serial killer breaking in or a zombie attack. If he gets scared by toilet paper there isn't much hope of him defending me is there! Grin

Apparently DS1 got woken up by it too although how he wasn't scared half to death by DH I don't know - it was a quite some yell!

Solo · 21/07/2011 10:57

Grin@ Niecie! that's made tears fall down my face!!!

I wrote two posts last night, but somehow lost them both so gave up...I'm fed up with that happening so I'm going to try to remember to copy my posts before posting them in future...grrrrr!!!

Ds is fine now. I left him with Mum and came home last night with the intention of taking Dd to nursery this morning, but I switched the alarm off and then overslept! so I'm going to take her for her last morning tomorrow.
I am completely exhausted. Glad that Ds is Ok now though.

My Pauling has been dreadful! and I dare not climb on the scales Blush. I haven't been to the nurse to be weighed since I had to cancel my appointment because of Dd's chicken pox.

I hope all is well with all of you...
