Good morning and hello to anyone new (although I am still new really). Yesterday was pretty revolutionary - I never actually finished anything ! I finish everything usually.

So hoping it's doing ok - or should that be I am doing ok. I am really bad at resisting the scales - so my aim is to not get on them until friday. I just need to see that what I am doing is working iykwim.

Oh and a question - the cd - do you listen everyday? everyday for the rest of forever?

StayingDavidTennantsGirl · 23/05/2011 09:21

Thankyou for the welcome everyone - and JuicyOlive - thankyou for the kind words - I have to confess I do find it hard to believe I'm not a bad person, but I will try.

I am off to knitting group now, and will have my lunch there - they do nice salads and sandwiches, and delicious home made soups, so I should be able to find something good to eat. I will try to eat consciously, despite all the gossip that will be flying around.

I was wondering about the journal and tickboxes someone mentioned - I guess these are outlined in the book?

SilveryMoon · 23/05/2011 09:47

flo I think, listen to it for 3 months (the 90 days in the control journal) and then take it from there.
I don't think that once we have all gotten to grips with how to eat right, we'll need it tbh.
SDTG have just seen on your fb that you're off to knitting group, enjoy. My friend has invited me to go to the oneshe goes to, but I'm still learning so am a bit nervous about doing it in public.
A good tip PM gives for when eating socially is to break eye contact and concentrate on your food.
As long as you eat slowly and (depending on what you have) chew 20 times, no one would expect you to talk with food in your mouth anyway!
Don't exoect too much of yourself though, and even if you eat lunch today how you'd normally eat without listening to your body, just leave a mouthfull or 2 on the plate.
Good luck.

GreenToes · 23/05/2011 10:06

Good morning,

Thanks for starting the new thread solo

I'm not weighing myself because I don't have any scales but seem to be a tiny bit smaller this week. I don't have a lot to lose, maybe a stone max, so I know it'll come off quite slowly so trying not to worry about it really. I'm going on holiday in August and I want to wear a bikini for the first time in about seven years! :)

Welcome all the new people, try not to worry if you're not getting it straight away, I've been doing this about a month and it's only just really clicked for me!

flo it's a great feeling not finishing things isn't it! My (naturally slim) boyfriend was a bit confused when I started leaving things as before I'd always finished my plate and told him off if he didn't for wasting food. I now realise it's just as much of a waste eating more than you need and gaining weight.

Tommy · 23/05/2011 10:14

ok..... have weighed myself ready for my climbing back on the wagon.
Just had breakfast - bowl of berries and cereal and it was really nice!! I was hungry as well so think I've made a good start Smile
I really need to lose about a stone and a half.
Will listen to CD later in the day

knaveofhearts · 23/05/2011 10:21

Mornin' all.

Marking my place really, hopefully back later for a proper gossip. Welcome SDTG and welcome back Tommy.

MerylStrop · 23/05/2011 11:00

So the book has arrived
And today I begin
Eek

BsshBossh · 23/05/2011 11:01

Morning all, my goodness a new thread and page 2 already Grin. Excellent thread title solo. Had a busy weekend out and about plus guests to stay but very happy to report that I ate according to the principles. Perhaps it's becoming second nature now?

MuffinsMummy · 23/05/2011 11:36

Morning all. I think the last couple of weeks I have been slipping slightly, not eating slowly enough and having a few too many mouthfuls at each meal. I went for a 9 mile walk on the moors yesterday that involved hills and rough ground so a good workout. We managed to complete in 5 hours do very proud of myself :)

I am going to try and get back on track with the eating today I am having DD3 christened in August and want to wear my size 12 Jane Norman dress so probably need to lose about a stone!

Niecie · 23/05/2011 12:20

Hello

Hi to all the newbies and thank to Solo for the new thread. (Hope you are feeling OK now).

Bit manic round here today. Had a new carpet fitted in DS1's newly painted room so he should be OK until he leave home.Wink This morning there has been much furniture moving back and forth (with DH's help) and then cleaning up. Still piles of crappage all over the house that somehow has to go back into DS's room and not make it look a mess again. Fat chance.

New bathroom ceiling is also drying nicely but have to put all the lotions and potions and cleaning stuff back in there now. It is currently in the laundry basket. Blush

DS2 has a friend coming back for footie and tea (hope it doesn't rain, there is no room for them in the house) so need to get it half decent before he comes so he doesn't go home and tell his mother what a pigsty we live in. Blush

Oh and the power steering on my car is knackered. Just had the AA come to tow it away to be looked at. MOT due anyway so hopefully we shall kill 2 birds with one stone and get that sorted. And the blowy exhaust.

Weekend wasn't so good but not awful. With the bathroom out of action I haven't been able to use the scales so that is a bonus but on the other hand I don't know if I am making any progress at all. I have managed to eat something this morning, despite the constant toing and froing so I am quite pleased about that. Normally I wouldn't bother and then would eat everything that fell into my path come lunchtime. I may still do that but hopefully I won't because I won't be ravenous.

Need to go to the shops for bits and pieces too. In fact I shouldn't actually be here.

I wish everybody a successful and happy week. I would journal this week but I have no idea where it is at the moment. Perhaps I shall excavate it from underneath the mess find it later. Blush

ppeatfruit · 23/05/2011 12:40

Solo Congrats on the new thread as Glad said it happened without me noticing! Also Solo have you looked at the acid contents of the foods you want to eat! i find vinegar and oranges give me heartburn.

JuicyOlive · 23/05/2011 12:44

Hello again

SDTG - I've just reread your and my last posts - apologies I implied any negativity. I just remember you fending off some aggressive comments in other threads.

Stickwithit The seminar went over all the stuff which is in the book in depth. In the morning session, PM went over the 4 rules in detail and reasons behind them, tapping techniques etc. He even made us pretend practise eating slowly and putting the knife and fork down between mouthfuls, so that it would become ingrained in our brains. He did a lot of interactive stuff and would get people up on the stage and go through exercises like in the book and extended CDs, such as the craving buster, and the audience would join in with the exercise. The lady with the chocolate craving was a right character and she was totally salivating over the bar of dairy milk he had, but she did all the visualisations and imagined it mixed with prawns (which she loathed) and ended up being totally able to take it or leave it.

The morning finished with a trance and then sent us for a long lunch to practise the rules.

After lunch, a lot of people reported back that they had left food on their plates/eaten slowly for the first time ever. He went through some self-sabotage tips and also spent a lot of time on a mirror exercise. The woman who he picked for that had zero self confidence even though she was very pretty and it was quite an emotional session which left her feeling really good about herself. (I noticed he didn't pick a real minger less attractive woman and try to persuade her she was really hot!)

There was also a session with Kevin Laye - lots of tapping. Some people thought it was useful, but I was one of the sceptical ones.

The afternoon finished with a really long trance.

It was definitely an interesting day and I know a lot of us found it stimulating - and it was lovely to meet up with some of the people on this thread. Sadly PM said at the seminar that he didn't have any plans to do any more seminars in the UK for a long time. Sad

Hope this covers it.

StayingDavidTennantsGirl · 23/05/2011 14:02

JuicyOlive - no need to apologise at all - I do have a tendency to be negative.

SilveryMoon - I did OK at knitting group - I had a slice of toast for my breakfast, and spicy lentil and tomato soup for lunch, and ate both slowly, and stopped before I finished all of the soup!

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 23/05/2011 15:45

Afternoon everyone :) Welcome to everyone new! Grin

I too seem to do pretty well during the week, and then it all goes a bit pear-shaped at the weekends.

Today is going well so far, and I'm planning to do some exercise later once DH is home. First exercise other than walking since my section, so we will see how it goes!

florencerusty · 23/05/2011 17:40

Headache from hell for 3rd consecutive day - is it connected maybe?

GreenToes · 23/05/2011 18:04

flo are you drinking lots of water? If you're eating less you might need to drink more. I certainly find I'm drinking more and have had a couple of dehydration headaches. Also, I'm finding that since I've been paying more attention to my full and hungry signals I'm also more tuned in to other aspects of my health so I notice things more than I did before.

Joltek · 23/05/2011 18:11

I had headaches the first few days but they have gone now. Maybe just an adjustment thing?

shrinkingnora · 23/05/2011 18:34

Hello! Sorry, I'm not posting much for some reason. Partly too busy, I think and also that I am thinking about food so much less I don't really want to talk about it.

We had our anniversary party on Saturday and it was lovely. I felt really good in my lovely new dress (loads of compliments) and had enough confidence to dance even when only two other people were! I also ate one sandwich from the buffet and nothing else because I was too busy necking drinks I wasn't hungry.

Solo - beware Tramadol. I had it after my gall bladder op and it is INCREDIBLY addictive. I only took it for 3 days and had insomnia and other side effects (restless legs, crawling sensation under skin) for a WEEK. Ridiculous.

SilveryMoon · 23/05/2011 18:45

I ate too much dinner Sad Home made burgers which I love.
Maybe I need to stop cooking food I like Hmm

GreenToes · 23/05/2011 19:14

shrinkingnora it's good that you're no longer thinking so much about food, and great that you felt so good about yourself on Saturday. Congratulations on your anniversary and your success with Pauling :)

SilveryMoon I have the same problem when I make my favourite meals, but getting better now. To start with I just forced myself to throw away at least one mouthful like Paul suggests in the book, now I'm finding it easier to leave things when I'm not hungry, especially if I know I can pop it in the fridge to enjoy for another meal. With things like burgers, could you perhaps make them smaller so that you wouldn't have so much on your plate and it'd be harder to overeat? Then you could always have seconds if you're still hungry. Either way don't beat yourself up about it, just try again tomorrow :)

neverputasockinatoaster · 23/05/2011 20:13

Hello everyone
Well, I've had a mixed day today. I feel really rough... my lovely DS has given me his summer cold so I hardly slept last night and I have a 'thick' head and a bunged up nose.

At lunch time I'd taken hummus and oatcakes but I really didn't want them so I went out and stood in front of some sarnies for a long time before choosing what I wanted. I also got some crisps and some choc. I ate it slowly, tipping the crisps out onto the plate and really enjoyed it. I probably ate a bit too much BUT come afternoon break I didn't have a cuppa and I didn't add a biscuit to the cuppa I didn't have IYSWIM!

Tonight we have had jacket spuds, sweetcorn, peas and a sausage, bacon and chicken stew. I served myself a much smaller portion than usual, put my knife and fork down between mouthfuls and ate as slowly as is possible whilst referreeing 2 squabling tired children.

I have set myself the goal of being 6 stone lighter this time next year in time for Moonwalk 2012!

ObiWanKenobi · 23/05/2011 20:30

Ok. I think I've caught up. Hello everyone new. Congrats to all who are sticking to the rules. I didn't log in for a few days and there's a new thread! Accidentally posted on the old one before I realised. Never mind. Going quite well here. Mostly abiding by the rules. Slight slips with evening hardest but generally ok. Made some cashew nut cookies today and have only had two not the whole batch which is good. Determined not to have any more tonight!

ObiWanKenobi · 23/05/2011 20:31

Nora congrats on the anniversary. Which one was it?

shrinkingnora · 23/05/2011 20:41

Ten long arduous glorious years Wink
