It can be depressing changing scales as Solo will agree - same happened to her when the nurse swapped scales.

And to me a while ago although I knew the new ones were wrong as they came out of the box reading 4lbs with nothing on them! Confused

I still don't trust them but it seems wasteful to buy new ones. I mean, they may be 4lb out but they are not, sadly 5 stone out. Should I ever get within 4lb of my target (when I am old and grey at this rate) I might do something about it.Smile

HELLO EVERYONE I'M BACK!! Welcome Pipsy76 and tarty mcfarty i like those names Smile You've got the intelligence to have found the ultimate in eating plans,it's how we should ALL eat! I agree he shouldn't have mentioned being thin in the title but he said at his seminar that in a questionnaire that's what the respondents wanted!! Well i'm just happy being a healthy slim and after loosing 2 stone Iam!!

You do have to work at it to maintain it though (a good way is not to be on here much!) i always loose more when rushing about.

Solo what's the history then???? Are you okay???

DingDong It must be hard to put on weight with 4 DCs let alone 5 after the preg of course!!

About Rosemary Conley i have lost the weight eating to a healthy plan (no weird cal. counting or diet foods though).

Sorry everyone for posting twice DUH It's because I'm so excited about being able to actually post as many lines as I want to after being hampered to only 3!

pipsy76 · 05/07/2011 18:05

Thankf for the welcome ppeatfruit, it's great to here real stories of sucess!

I can't say I've been eating 'healthy food' but I've been eating what I like and my calorie consumption has gone down by about 300 per day as I'm tracking all I eat on my fitness pal, I'm also alot more motivated to excercise!

TheoriginalFAB I find listening to Paul Mckenna on my iphone is a very sucessful sleep remedy Grin

Niecie · 05/07/2011 23:31

Welcome back ppeat. Well done on a whole 2 stone. That is really great. Smile

pipsy76 - sounds like you are off to a flying start. Hope start seeing some results soon.

Right ladies, I think I have just found myself come motivation. I have booked myself a graduation day for mid September. This will include having a proper photo done and I haven't had one of those done since DH got his MBA, 9 years ago - hardly even had any snaps of me as it has been too depressing. I need to look half decent in the photo and, more importantly I am supposed to dress smartly. They suggest either a suit or a smart dress, neither of which I own and I will have to buy. I would much prefer to be buying a size 16 than an 18 so the race is on. How much can I realistically lose between now and the beginning of September do your reckon? I will also need many a kick up the backside over the summer to stay focussed so I am counting on you ladies.Smile

SoloAgainItSeems · 06/07/2011 00:52

Hello! Well, I appear to have put on one of the stones that I lost I am going to a Naval Ball in a month and need to get it back off but my zone has vanished. I'm very sad, angry and confused about it all, but I think I need to listen to the CD's again and get focussed. Please help me ladies...

PositiveAttitude · 06/07/2011 06:38

Well done Ppeat. Smile

Solo - come on, you were my inspiration on here a few weeks ago when I felt like throwing in the towel. You have done it so well. I am sure it was you who said that if it went on quickly its easier to shift it quickly, too, so listen to the CD, watch the DVD, have a stern talk to yourself and jump back in. You are doing this for yourself, no-one else.
I realise life has been up and down recently for you, but this is something you can take control of and make that positive step for you. You looked fantastic in that photo!! Smile

ppeatfruit · 06/07/2011 09:19

For wearing pretty things (and shorty t shirts etc.) i've got a couple of waist defining exercises that actually work(I didn't have a defined waist when i was a size 8 !!) i do now!!! Oh and thanks all for the welcome back Smile

  1. lying down or standing up using the heel of your right hand firmly (but not too firmly!) follow the outline of your lowest right ribcage stopping at your solar plexus.
  1. Do the same on the left hand side.
  1. Do as many times as you like.

Also

!. Bring both your hands using the fingertips (in a sort of outward praying mode) From your groin and up to your solar plexus. massage there.

  1. As you do the above twist your lower body to the right and upper body to the left.

This seems really hard to do at first and is probably best started while you 're lying down. I do it standing up as well. These bloody work!!!!!

Niecie · 06/07/2011 09:49

Ah Solo - Sad how is AF behaving at the moment? Could it be that at least part of it is water retention?

I get the lack of motivation - I have put some on too and I keep thinking 'but I lost that 2 stone for good, how can it be that it is going back on'? It is very disconcerting and demotivating.

BUT we can pull ourselves out of this rut. We know what to do, we probably have an idea why we are putting on weight (that self sabotaging behaviour again) so we need to tackle that I reckon.

Other than that, re-read the book and start listening to the CD if you aren't already. (I sorted something out so I can listen to it too - at last. Just waiting for the cable to arrive in the post). It does work, you know it does. Remember the buzz from going to the PMK show!

How are you with menu planning? I fall down a bit because I don't plan well enough. I don't have the right food at the right time and end up picking on the bad things.

Do you have the dress that you want to wear already? Have you tried it on? Does it need you to lose weight before you can wear it? That might focus the mind too.

Wracking my brains to think of something else but it is the blind leading the blind here - I am in the same situation as you - going the wrong way but we can turn this around.

Niecie · 06/07/2011 09:53

ppeat - Do you have anything for bingo wings? I had to take back 2 tops last week which fitted fine everywhere except the short sleeves. V. depressing. Bingo wings are apparently hereditory (thanks mum, for those, the bunions and the pearshapedness) but I have to do something. I can't just sit back and let them ruin every outfit by flapping in the breeze. Plus the warm weather means the blessed things are on show.Hmm

SoloAgainItSeems · 06/07/2011 11:57

Thanks PA and Niecie it wasn't me that said that PA, no. I don't think the gain is anything to do with my namehange btw; I'm fine about that ~ really but something has just popped and gone wrong. AF is AWOL for the 3rd consecutive month it would seem and I miss her! I do think my financial worries don't help and the worry of trying to cope back at work should that happen in January...I just can't afford the childcare...but David Bloody Cameron has brought the mothers back to work, youngest child age down to 5 and Dd will be 5 in December. I will earn too much (£30k) to get any help at all from tax credits or for childcare and as I've worked it out, I'll have £8 a month left to feed us all on and buy diesel and God forbid anything should go wrong! those figures are based on Dd going to breakfast club and after school club and getting Ds to take her and pick her up but, he'll only be 13 and can't get himself out of bed, so I'm not sure how I can rely on him tbh...and I had told him I'd pay him for doing it ~ taking responsibility for £5 a day, which I won't have :(
And if work give me a final year off, I will have to sign on every fortnight, telling them that I'm looking for work and which jobs I've applied for etc... even though I already have employment so surely then, that would mean I would be claiming benefits fraudulently?! which, if I were 'found out' they would prosecute me and I'd lose my job due to the nature of that job and have to pay them back the benefits... ARGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
Do you think all that is enough to have caused the back peddaling?

I've got ball gowns Niecie and as I can't afford to buy a bigger new one, I have to do something and fast!

Niecie · 06/07/2011 12:40

Solo - is sounds a mess. Sad

Can you find a new job that pays as well or better, or nearer to home or with more friendly hours or something? Easier said than done I know and you've probably already thought about it.

You can fit into your dress though. It is within your control - have you been doing the visualisation? You know how good you looked 2 stone down - get the photo out and put it where you can see it. On the biscuit tin and on the fridge or wherever your weakness lurks. Change it around so you catch yourself unawares occasionally and you don't start ignoring it. It might help focus your mind and resist any accidental eating. I'd do it if I had a photo worth looking at that was taken within the last 11 years. Blush

SoloAgainItSeems · 06/07/2011 12:45

I am not qualified to do anything else that would pay £30k or more Niecie. If/when I go back, I could try for a compassionate transfer, but I really don't want to as I'd be going to a high security place and it's just 15 minutes away from home so too close for comfort for me...all those ex cons walking down my road etc...knowing where 'Miss' lives.

SoloAgainItSeems · 06/07/2011 12:47

I must listen to Cd's and read the book. Haven't read it yet. I did get the Positive Shrinking from Amazon the other day, so will have to stop Mnetting and read them. Also will have to drag the suitcase out of the loft and have a trying on session to see which gown will be easiest to slim into.

SoloAgainItSeems · 06/07/2011 12:51

This is why I believe that an individuals claims should be looked at, not just a one size fits all as clearly, it does not.

Niecie · 06/07/2011 13:04

It would be a lot fairer, I agree. I suppose the problem is that it would be more expensive to administer. However, there should be some way for exception cases like yours to get special consideration.

Could you retrain? Is there something that would be an extension of your current role but would that would make life easier. Maybe probation officer or some sort of couselling?

Time consuming though so it doesn't help does it?

SoloAgainItSeems · 06/07/2011 13:08

I don't know. I've loved doing my job as hard as it is, so to never do it again would feel really hard...:(
Don't know about retraining and then again, I'd probably end up on the lowest pay grade so wouldn't be able to pay the mortgage and everything else...feels a bit of a vicious circle.

SoloAgainItSeems · 06/07/2011 13:13

Ha! I've just had a look at the website for probation officers...I've C&P this bit:

Despite the fact that competition is fierce within the profession, there is a lot of demand for qualified probation officers. The salary of a Trainee Probation Officer varies but is generally in the range of 14,500 to 15,500. Once qualified this will rise to between 20,000 and 27,000. Working hours are generally in line with the normal 37-40 hours a week and although some of this may be at unusual times, it is not usual for the PO to work overtime. Leave entitlement is generally good.

I couldn't afford to do it

SilveryMoon · 06/07/2011 13:14

Solo sorry to hear about your work/money worries. I'm in the same boat too.
Dp has to bring home £1800 a month before we can even eat, our boiler needs replacing, I owe ctc £1150 which they are taking back £10 a month until 2020.
I want to help financially but can't afford childcare so in a catch 22.
I'm not qualified for anything so can't earn much, my most recent job was as a ta in an sen school which I really enjoyed so I am looking for that sort of thing now, and hoping a few friends will help out with the kids.
It's just so hard to know what to do for the best.
Life is so depressing at the moment and the junk food harder to walk away from

SoloAgainItSeems · 06/07/2011 13:20

:( Silvery.

It makes me feel quite bitter that my ex has left me at all in this situation (not that he lived with me, but maybe he could've done or helped out some more financially). I've tried so hard to keep everything going since Ds was expected (he's nearly 13) and think I had done quite well until this government took over...

ppeatfruit · 06/07/2011 13:33

OOh poor you Solo i admire probation officers it must be one of the most difficult jobs. Yes i have a bingo wing exercise that i heard on Radio 2 recently!!

1.You hold your arms out sideways but with upper arms straight and shoulders down, your lower arms from the elbow hanging down (do you remember Ricky Gervaise in the Office doing his weird dad dance?).

2.You throw out the lower arms to make the arms straight repeat as many times as you want (but see below) also try to keep your shoulders down while doing it.

Don't overdo any exercise, 3 or 4 times 2 or 3 times a day is more effective

SoloAgainItSeems · 06/07/2011 14:06

Pp the whole of the justice system is a tough job. I think that the Probation Service is an easier call than my job though...

SilveryMoon · 06/07/2011 16:13

solo a big {{hug}}.
I'm gonna have my last day of being a pig and get back to it tomorrow

ppeatfruit · 06/07/2011 17:16

Sorry solo I read you wrong thinking you were a P.O. Come on now we'll all get back the wagon tomorrow yes???!!!!
