Ali, she won't sit in a cool bath, let alone a cold one! she's a warm only kinda gal! My house is quite a cool one, so it's not too bad really in that respect. she hasn't complained about the itching as yet today, so perhaps it's a good day for her :)
Well done on the Zumba :)

Alibaba - hats off to you for managing do anything vaguely energetic this morning. It sems to be clouding over now though - hopefully that will lower the temp a degree or two.

Solo Has your DS already had chickenpox? Hope that isn't something you have to worry about. I had it about this time of year in the hot summer of 1976 - the weather can't be helping although at least she can strip off if needs be. And she can take antihistamines which nobody seemed to know about when I was a child.

SoloIsAHotCougar · 27/06/2011 13:37

Yes, ds had it at almost exactly the same age as Dd is now Niecie. I don't have any antihistermines for a child, so it's just calamine lotion atm. Had trouble getting that on Saturday too! I sent Ds up to the pharmacy and he phoned me to say they wouldn't sell it to him. Apparently, he needed to be 16 Hmm I phoned them and was told that 'what if we sell him that and then as some point, he comes in for something stronger, there will then be issues!!!' I was Shock and repeated that it was not a drug! that I was stuck indoors with a sick child who had chicken pox and I also said that there'd be no issues in future, because I don't use their shop usually.

And I don't and if I did, I wouldn't any longer!!! they said to send him back in, they'd sell it to him...I was dumbfounded tbh.

Hiya all got back today from our little break but wish I hadn't bothered.

XH has got a new girlfriend, now I'm not overly happy but I'm ok with it. She helps him a lot in the pub he is running and he has said that he can't have the girls staying over unless she stays as well. DC have only met her a couple of times they have only been together a couple of weeks!

MuffinsMummy · 27/06/2011 21:00

On the Pauling front I haven't done that well over the weekend but I haven't been eating that much. Over eating now appears to make me feel a bit sick!

Niecie · 27/06/2011 21:01

How bizarre!

Clearly there was a hitherto unheard of step in the road to being a drug-addled junkie. Hard core cannabis, cocaine and herion abuse and it all started because they couldn't get enough calamine lotion. I wonder if it starts with sniffing, because it is a bit whiffy or whether they get hooked on being a powdery shade of pink.Hmm

I don't think either of mine had antihistamines - DS1 didn't seem that bothered and DS2 only had about 30 spots. If it weren't for the fact that I took DS2 to the out of hours docs as I was so unsure about whether he had it or not, I would wonder if they had had it at all!

I hope it is all over soon and you can get back to normal. It is a funny illness because if it weren't for the fact that you have to stay at home, it would barely register as anything to bother about for most people would it?

SoloIsAHotCougar · 28/06/2011 00:33

Hey MM, it's crap isn't it? keep your chin up girl!

Ooooh! quiet thread!!! very unusual.

OP posts:
Niecie · 29/06/2011 01:43

Yes, it is quiet. I have been sort of avoiding MN as I find myself getting sucked into a teachers' strike thread which I have been resisting for.days. I should hide it really because I can't resist going back to have another look and it just winds me up or rather I wind myself up! Hmm

Just plodding along here. AF is in residence so not daring to go near the scales and didn't bother to weigh in a the weekend. Not been too badly affected by the munchies but not been full on Pauling either.

Hope everybody else is OK.

PositiveAttitude · 29/06/2011 06:49

I have been quiet as I have had a little less positive attitude than I should! Grin
I am happy Pauling. I am happy with what I am eating. I dont feel as if I am dieting and being deprived. My attitude has changed a lot about food, but I am getting disappointed that things are not shifting quick enough. I know I am the most impatient person who has ever walked this earth!!

How are the spots Solo.

You doing ok, Howto?

I hope everyone is ok.

MuffinsMummy · 29/06/2011 07:18

After my not very good weekend I weighed myself this morning to assess the damage and I have stayed the same :) am getting back on it today! I listened to the CD last night which I haven't done for a while so fingers crossed.

Have a good day everyone Grin

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 29/06/2011 10:05

Niecie - you are speaking a great deal of sense on that thread Wink

I am just quietly plodding along here. Doing well on the exercise front, and generally pretty busy which is keeping me away from the food in the evening which is a bonus.

I now need a belt for my jeans Grin

Niecie · 29/06/2011 13:06

Alibaba - well done on the belt. A much better indicator than the scales that you are mvoing in the right direction. Smile
(I have a great deal of respect for teachers, I think they do a great job but some of them aren't very realistic - I shall say no more).

Muffinsmum - staying the same is no bad thing especially if you think you didn't do so well at the weekend. You'll get there.

PositiveAttitude - if your attitude to food is changing, I think is more important than losing a few pounds because it means that even if the weight loss is slow, at least you know you will get to your target one day and and more importantly, stay there. I am impatient too though so I do get the frustration of not losing half a stone a week - wouldn't that be great?

I still haven't listened to the CD. Now I have finally got it to download to the computer without jumping, I am finding I can't upload it to my MP3 payer because I keep getting an error message. I think (hope) the problem is with the cable but I am not sure. I probably need a new one. Of course it could be terminal and the player is knackered which I won't be happy about! It wouldn't be surprising though- the freezer packed up at the weekend. What will be our 3rd thing in the run of bad luck?

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 29/06/2011 13:34

Christ I have just bought a box of mini chocolate roll things from the Sainsbury's bakery. Why???
I will not eat any until I'm hungry, but they are looking at me every time I go into the kitchen Hmm

PA - I know exactly what you mean. I'm impatient but I am trying really hard to get out of the 'deadline' mentality I've always had about weight loss. Too often it has meant that I've given up when the goal has become unrealistic. This is forever, and so if it takes a while then so be it.
I am desperate to get properly into size 18 trousers etc. Some pairs fit, others give me a muffin top. Size 20s are now much too big and look ridiculous flapping around my bum. They need to make a size 19!!!!

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 29/06/2011 13:35

Niecie - everything always breaks at once here too, expensive.

blimey · 29/06/2011 15:20

I am finding things a bit slow as well but like you PA my whole attitude to food has changed so I feel I will get to where I want to be eventually.

I have hit a milestone today - 1st time weighing in under 13 stone!!! (for a very long time)

I was in such denial about weight gain - I weighed 12.5 stone after birth of ds3 but steadily piled it on up to 14 4 - it wasn't until I reached this level that I realised I had put weight on - doh! it is amazing how long I could keep putting it down to a bad day! But at least once I twigged I refound Paul and you all and I am really on the way down, rather slowly but deffo surely.
And I have my first "you have lost weight" comment unsolicited - hooray!

SoloAgainItSeems · 30/06/2011 12:47

I had to cancel my weigh in today due to Dd's chicken pox.

Niecie · 30/06/2011 17:47

Damn those children and their illnesses! Messing up our plans. It really isn't on is it?! Smile

DS2 has been off for 2 days. Woke up yesterday with a temp and a bit of a sore throat. Ended up hitting 40C yesterday afternoon which was a bit of a worry. He is a bit better today, OK in himself but still has a temperature and a bit of a sore throat. Stupid viruses.

Just scared DS1 will get it, whatever it is. It his birthday in July and his birthday treat is on Saturday - Goodwood Festival of Speed - and the tickets cost a bloody fortune. He will be gutted if he can't go and so will I after forking out so much although I think we would still go some years as DH is as much of a petrol head as DS.

Replacement new freezer arrived today so I need to go and turn it on in preparation for filling it with cakes and oven chips healthy nutritious food.

blimey · 30/06/2011 23:01

I seem to have a special skill at writing posts which elicit little response.
I would love some feedback on what I do wrong/what I could do better as sometimes the wave of indifference is a bit depressing....

Niecie · 01/07/2011 00:09

Oh sorry Blimey. I completely by-passed your post to have a whinge. Blush That is what comes of being in a little bubble with a poorly child. He isn't that bad today either although that makes him more demanding too. Mummy do this, mummy lets do that, mummy what can I do?

Well done for getting under 13stone. I can only dream of that at the moment and how fantastic people in RL are noticing. I love that (not that it has happened for a while) - enjoy it!!Grin

I don't necessarily think slow is a bad thing. So long as it is still coming off, I think the important thing, as I said to PA, is that your attitude has changed which means that, no matter what, it will all come off. If it does so slowly and 'naturally' for want of a better word then it will more likely stay off. Pauling is about changing attitudes more than losing weight I think. Losing weight is a by product of having changing the way you are with food. If you just wanted to lose weight you would do WW or SW or something and your attitude wouldn't be really different because you would be losing weight by being on a diet and restricting your calorie intake in a way that is not sustainable in the long term. It is a quick fix not a permanent one.

Hell, you'll be sorry you asked for comments now! Did that even make sense? I sort of know what I am trying to say but the brain isn't with it tonight. And you probably know all this anyway. I'll shut up now.BlushGrin

Niecie · 01/07/2011 00:12

Blimey - in a nutshell, keep doing what you are doing. I don't think you are doing anything wrong if it is working and I think striving to speed up your loss is counterproductive.

(I should have said that earlier and kept quiet about the rest).

PositiveAttitude · 01/07/2011 06:59

Hope the poorly DCs are better this morning. Smile

Blimey well done on getting past your milestone.

I agree with Neicie about the weightloss being a by-product of the change in my attitude to food. It is so frustrating that it is not quicker, but I have thought about it and now think that I am happy eating what I am eating. I dont feel as if I am depriving myself of anything, I have no need, urge or want to go back to stuffing myself with a load of rubbish again. If I had done any other "diet" I would have given up by now and would be binging on everything I had deprived myself of for the past couple of months. I will just keep plugging away.
I, also, had my first random person (not a stranger, but someone who I dont know that well) come up to me yesterday and say "You have lost loads of weight, havent you?" Grin

Have a good day everyone.

SoloAgainItSeems · 01/07/2011 10:22

Actually blimey I'm a bit Envy Grin. I too should now be below 13st, but instead it's gone on. Are you still listening (can't recall if you have them or not) to the CD's? if so, are they helping do you think?

Well done on getting to that weight though ~ seriously, it's brill!!!

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 01/07/2011 10:26

blimey - 13st is my next milestone. It seems a loooong way off atm Grin

I am getting thinner, no question - but why aren't the scales moving at all? It is really annoying Angry

Niecie · 01/07/2011 10:56

DS2 back at school -hoorah! He says he has a sore throat still but wanted to go to school and the sore throat was probably from all the talking he has been doing.Hmm

Why the name change Solo? Are you OK? You aren't showing up in a pretty lilac box any more.

My scales aren't moving because I am too scared to get on them.Blush
