The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded support system:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONCIOUSLY
  4. STOP when you are satisfied

I've C&P'd part 4's links as they are helpful.

Here is the book on AMAZON which is all you need to get started!

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful for cravings.

Niecie, the namechange says it all m'dear!!!

SoloAgainItSeems · 01/07/2011 12:06

Erm...pretty lilac box?! what's that then? Hmm Grin

pipsy76 · 01/07/2011 12:42

Hi guy's can I join too in the hope that Paul or rather my altered attitude to food can make ne thin!

I've been lurking and peering through the window for a while and the principles you mention in the thread finally inspired me to get the book and CD from the library!

Definately not as hungry today!

SoloAgainItSeems · 01/07/2011 13:09

Welcome pipsy. It's a good way to eat! :) and lose weight.

We've all hit stumbling blocks, but we all support one another as you've probably seen whilst lurking. Get stuck in! Grin

pipsy76 · 01/07/2011 13:22

thanks solo!

blimey · 01/07/2011 14:07

thanks so much guys, a postive affirmation from fellow paulers means a lot!

solo I have not been using the cds - my bedside cd player conked and I just did not get around to sorting out another way to listen in bed. In the past I have listened to the cd and just went to sleep. I am not very good at visualisation and don't like mid atlantic style accents so I don't think the cd is a useful tool for me. You may be going up a bit now but haven't you lost 2 stone? that is brilliant! a little slip is ok cos I am sure you can get back to going down again. the lilac box is the colour niecie must have chosen for original poster posts - you can choose colours for OP and yourself in a thread. I guess cos you name changed you lost your box! (sounds odd!! Grin )
Have you and the young man parted company? are you ok?

An area where I differ from Paul is the importance of drinking in weight gain. I always weigh less after having delivered babies than before I got pregnant and I think that is down to not drinking (much- Idon't go teetotal). I don't drink heavily when not pregnant but I do like half a bottle of wine a couple of times a week and I have realised (very sadly) this is too much for me. I get hungover and lose my ability to know if I am hungry or not. When my weight was stalling on 13 4/5 I decided to not drink for a while and that helped me get down to the next level. I like feeling tipsy so I might go for half a bottle of wine a fortnight as a compromise.

Niecie you do make sense and thanks so much for the support! really glad to hear DS2 is back at school.

alibaba scales staying the same but getting thinner - are you exercising more and putting on muscle? is it nearing AF time? you may get a sudden shift down if there is water retention or you are constipated or something.

Welcome pipsy it really works - dive in!

blimey · 01/07/2011 14:09

Smileand thanks positive attitude too !

TheOriginalFAB · 01/07/2011 15:51

Hi all,

Not sure what has been happening but I have done okay. Having soups, salads and smaller meals. All set to weigh myself to see if anything was going my way and I got my period a day early. The law says no weighing during AF's visit, yes?

Niecie · 01/07/2011 16:21

Oh definitely FAB it could upset you. And if it doesn't it still might not give you enough to celebrate - it could make your loss look smaller than it is.

How are you feeling at the moment? Better, I hope.

Solo - the cub presumably is no longer in waiting - hope it was your decision and you are OK. And yes, I discovered a couple of months ago, after too many several years on MN that you can set your page up to highlight the OP's posts. I thought it was purple for everybody but apparently not. Makes it easy to see if the OP has posted and done a runner . It was a revelation and made threads much easier to follow, especially if you just want to see what the OP has been doing and whether she has descended into calling everybody bitches because nobody agrees with her on AIBU! So, since you were the first to post on this thread you got to be emblazoned in lilac, or you did until you name changed.Smile

Hello Pipsy - congratulations on making a start. Hope it is working for you.

MuffinsMummy · 01/07/2011 16:22

Do you all weigh more a couple of days before AF is due? I weighed myself on Wednesday, I think, and was 3lb heavier than when I weighed on Monday. Today it feels like AF is on the way could that be part of the reason for the gain?

Niecie · 01/07/2011 17:00

A couple of days before, during and a couple of days after for me - about a week in total. I reckon it is fluids because in the end I have a day when I keep having to go for a wee and then my weight usually settles back down again the next day.

Niecie · 01/07/2011 17:01

Sorry MM, yes, I reckon it is AF that is causing your gain. If,after it has finished, you still weigh the same you know you have put some on but I wouldn't worry about it until then.

PositiveAttitude · 01/07/2011 17:37

Definitely step away from scales foe the week around AF, MM. It will only end in tears and chocolate bingeing Wink

TheOriginalFAB · 01/07/2011 17:39

I am trying to read all the posts and can't retain the words. Can someone please give me a summary.

Solo - you okay and the OP is coloured in if you customise it that way. When you are not the OP you can also customise so your posts are highlighted.

MuffinsMummy · 01/07/2011 20:52

Solo sorry things don't seem to have worked out for you hopefully you aren't too disheartened by it!

I went for a night out with a couple of friends on Wednesday night! I was pretty drunk by the end of it and didn't get in until 4 in the morning! Was a brilliant night though and I didn't get any munchies either :)

MuffinsMummy · 01/07/2011 20:59

blimey I was also going to say I agree about the drinking and losing weight. Paul McKenna says that there are a lot of skinny alcoholics so how much you drink doesn't matter. In my experience, from working in a pub and having a binge drinking husband, alcoholics don't actually eat! If my XH is on a major session, by that I mean drinking heavily for a few days, he won't eat at all and even when he is only drinking normally he will only eat 1 meal a day!

His motto is "eating is cheating" god even thinking about him irritates me! I am soooooo glad I am single his new girlfriend can put up with his shit now!

blimey · 01/07/2011 23:14

Hi muffinsmummy I certainly know skinny heavy drinkers but for me alcohol means weight gain.
sounds good that you have offloaded him!

MuffinsMummy · 02/07/2011 08:18

blimey it's a shame as he isn't a bad person he has just got his priorities completely wrong!

I am so ready to start enjoying my life again. I'm getting myself a social life and want to start a photography course. People are telling me how good I look so life is most definately on the up :)

TartyMcFarty · 02/07/2011 08:42

Ok, whenever I've seen refs to Paul McKenna, I've thought, daft fad, don't like the word thin ... In the past I've fairly successfully used WW, but at the moment my habits are pretty unhealthy so now I feel that I need to sort my thinking out. Is this the thread for me?

Could you ladies please share your experiences with me to help me decide if it's worth a try?

PositiveAttitude · 02/07/2011 09:14

Hello Tarty, I was the hugest sceptic ever when I joined this thread, but have to say that I am the happiest with my eating that I have been for about 15 years! I have a huge amount of weight to lose, but have been doing it now for nearly 10 weeks, I have found it really simple to stick to it, in the main. I think we have all had little blips, but so easy to hop straight back into and not feel as if we have done irreparable damage. At my week 9 weigh in I had lost one and a half stone and i feel as if I have lost more since then, too.
The weight could perhaps come off quicker doing another way, but I know that as soon as I stopped dieting it would roll straight back on again. (and more) Doing PM I dont feel as if I am dieting. I am not having to avoid any food. I have been eating just what I want to, just slowly, consciously and when I am hungry until I feel satisfied.
I feel as if I can follow this for life and not feel deprived of anything. I love it!!
You have nothing to lose, but bad attitudes to food and some weight!! Give it a go!! Smile

My wedding anniversary today (23 years) I do believe DH has forgotten!! Hmm I have booked a restaurant for tonight, i have a new dress ready to wear, but am now really nervous! I bought the dress about a month ago and it certainly fits better than when I bought it. YAY!! Off to town to buy shoes, bag and a necklace to go with it all.

TartyMcFarty · 02/07/2011 09:36

Wow PA, that's stunning. You make it sound just what I need. I've fluctuated between a small 12 and a large 16 in recent years, and really need to stop the yo-yoing by changing my attitude to eating (usually 'naughty' and rarely 'good')

Enjoy your anniversary meal, that DH of yours had better raise his game!

PositiveAttitude · 02/07/2011 11:52

Thanks Tarty, after 23 years I dont expect him to remember, its a bonus when he does. And he did remember, well, he just text me from work, so maybe he was writing the date and realised???? Failed on the shoes and handbag front - really should not leave it to the last minute - got a lovely necklace though, so hopefully DH will be looking at that and not my old shoes!

There is no "naughty" or "good" foods here! My eating habits have changed so much. I hardly have chocolate now, and if I do a square or 2 is enough and a funsize bar is enough for me now, whereas I could have eaten chocolate for England 3 months ago.

DingDongMerrilyOutOfSeason · 03/07/2011 12:00

Hi all! Am going to get back into this thread now as have missed the support. Well, got made redundant recently but was only part time anyway and the money wasn't fantastic so am using it as time to really think about what I would like to do when I finally get back to full time work post DCs. Which could be a while because...

I'm pregnant! DC4 (gulp) due January/February. Had a bit of bleeding and was worried so didn't even want to post on here in case something went wrong but seems to be moving along OK now. I should really wait til my scan, think I am about 10 weeks gone, but am too excited and you lot don't know me so telling you doesn't count Grin

Anyway, enough about me! Glad to hear about weight loss, although it seems to take ages to get to the point where life stops getting in the way. I mean, if it really was so simple to change your thinking, wouldn't we all be able to continue eating in this way even when other things are going wrong? I have lost weight, quite a bit, but with so much more to lose I am cautious about getting too optimistic. Althoug I haven't been listening to the CD at all recently which I think I need to. Am going to try really hard to re-focus and will be back later with a more positive outlook.

PositiveAttitude · 03/07/2011 17:05

Congratulations DingDong, as a mum to 5dc (with less than 6 years between eldest and youngest) I found the baby stage easier and easier with each one after DC2.
Hope the pregnancy continues without a hitch!

blimey · 03/07/2011 20:10

Congratulations dingdong!! 5 kids pa? Big respect, I find 3 rather daunting! Grin
