Wow ppeat. We are in the process of looking for a property abroad and leaving this country. Can I ask where-abouts you are? If you dont want to put it on the board, could you PM me? Thanks Smile Any pitfalls I should know about the whole process?

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 25/06/2011 13:45

PA - I grew up just the other side of the water from the IoW, and I am not far away so go back regularly. We could meet up in Gunwharf and go shopping for fabulous clothes for our new, slimmer frames Grin

Niecie - I don't think I know you, but I am fully prepared to find that you live literally round the corner from me Grin
We should go for a coffee, although I am a little embarrassed because I have lost so little weight! Blush

ppeatfruit · 25/06/2011 18:41

I mean 300,000 of course !!! silly me Blush it's still amazing value though. sorry positive i'm not fully au fait with the compooter so i'm not sure what P.M. means apart from OUR Paul of course!

We live in between the Chinon area of the Loire and Poitiers it's the Vienne.I think the process of house buying here is better with the Notaire system there's no gazumping. of course there are the odd dishonest notaires and estate agents like anywhere. if you've school age DCs most schools here are very formal after the age of 6;loads of homework and no cookery etc. the food is not as good as it was in schools or restaurants sadly you have to know where to go.Oh and you really need a good command of french they respect you for trying (outside of Paris anyway!!) i speak SOME but i do rely on DH's brill. french more than i should!!

It's not Spain although there are enclaves of Brits. some of whom don't speak ANY Shock. But OTW it's friendlier, quieter hardly any traffic and they still have proper lunch breaks and don't live to shop or work.

ppeatfruit · 25/06/2011 18:44

Okay then where shall we meet? i love the isle of wight BTW my mum used to live in Hythe and we got the boat from Lymington it's lovely.

DingDongMerrilyOutOfSeason · 25/06/2011 19:32

Hi all, have been AWOL for weeks for various reasons, good and not so good, but doing well with the weight loss which actually makes me feel better when everything else is out of your control, IYKWIM. Have lost over 1st now so looking much better! Just a quickie to let you know I am still here, will catch up properly when I have time to read everyone's posts my god there's loads will take ages

(BTW, will have plenty of time to do this during the week now as have been made redundant, so every cloud...)

blimey · 25/06/2011 23:11

well done on the weight loss ding dong
hope it is a redundancy you are ok about? and many congrats on weight loss!

blimey · 25/06/2011 23:12

oops being repetitive - must be overdue for bed

GreenToes · 26/06/2011 08:57

I've not been on the thread for a while cos I've been struggling a bit. It all started when my friend gave me a Rosemary Conley DVD. The exercises are quite gentle so I can manage them with my ME and there's even a chair workout I could do if I was too tired, haven't had to use that yet though. Anyway, I am now feeling tempted to join the local Rosemary Conley diet and exercise class. I haven't lost any weight for ages, as far as I can tell. I don't know how much I weigh or should weigh. So I was thinking maybe I could join the class for the advice, support and exercise but try and eat mindfully at the same time.

If I'm honest I also like the structure of diet plans and I'm missing that. I'm a very organised person so I love planning out menus etc. I know I shouldn't but it's all so tempting. Hmm

Those who are struggling with organisation, have you thought of getting a Filofax? I have one and I use it all the time. It's really pretty and it makes me feel really mature and professional Blush

I hope everyone is doing better than I am, I haven't had a chance to read through all the posts yet. Have a good day all :)

SoloIsAHotCougar · 26/06/2011 10:43

Hi GT, I gthink you'll find we've almost all had a tough time in recent weeks; I blame the moon myself!

I did the Rosemary Conley diet back in the 80's and it worked well. Tried it again a few years go and it did absolutely nothing for me.

OP posts:
Niecie · 26/06/2011 12:31

Dingdong - well done on your loss. Sorry about your redundancy though.... unless you wanted to go anyway and/or got a good pay off and then congratulations!!Smile I hope things sort themselves out for you, whatever you plan to do.

GreenToes - I have a Filofax. Every year I buy the inserts and then come the following December realise there is nothing in it except what I wrote in a moment of enthusiasm in January. Blush

I also have a smaller diary in my handbag which I use if somebody suggests a date for something whilst I am out. I might write it down (if I can find a pen) but then I don't look in the diary afterwards.

Mostly, I just remember and I used to be good at that but I seem to be failing more and more.

I need a method that I enjoy using enough to actually make the effort for. I would like an iphone but they are horrendously expensive and I am bound to forget to charge it like my cheap phone that I have now!

I can understand the urge to do Rosemary Conley actually. I feel like I need something to back up the Pauling. Pauling is easy and obviously works but I can't help thinking that eating what you fancy is a bit of a step too far for me at the moment because invariably I will choose the wrong things. That is OK some of the time but not all of the time. RC is also good for portion size - they use the measures don't they? There is no risk of eating too much if you use the RC cups, so long as you don't always fill them with chocolate!! Smile

Don't worry though people, I am not about to go over to the Dark Side. Apathy and lack of organisation means I would never get round to signing up and actually going to the meetings anyway. Grin

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 26/06/2011 13:30

Hi everyone :)

Dingdong - I hope the redundancy has silver lining. Are you going to look for another job?

I highly recommend the iPhone for organisation actually. I use the calendar, and the notes section, and I have an app to do the 1-100 press-up challenge which I'm currently in week 2 of. I use the alarms and timers almost every day and it really, really helps me. I am NOT a naturally organised person, I have to really work at it.
I keep a USB cable plugged into my laptop all the time and the charger plugged in next to my bed so that I can keep it charged at all times.

I Zumba'd on my Wii last night. It absolutely knackered me and I got stitch Hmm New plan for this week is to try and get up early and do it before the boys wake up....

SoloIsAHotCougar · 26/06/2011 23:56

Oh. My. God! BBQ. Today. Food. Lots. Did. Not. Listen. To. My. Full. Signal.

Too hot to post properly - bring back the rain.Wink

Too much chaffing - ouch.

Chest freezer has packed up too. I'm sure it knew it is the hottest day of the year and fell apart just to make me really peed off. I think they are in a conspiracy with the heating - that only packs up when it is cold.Hmm

Niecie · 27/06/2011 12:02

by 'they' I mean the chest freezer in the garage and the fridge freezer in the kitchen obviously.Hmm Grin

Niecie · 27/06/2011 12:04

Solo sorry to hear about your DD. I hope she doesn't feel poorly, just itchy.

SoloIsAHotCougar · 27/06/2011 12:07

Thanks Niecie. She's itchy, bit of a temperature on and off, but her appetite is unaffected!
Sorry to hear of your freezer woes :( it's not funny is it.

Blimey it is warm here. At least all my washing is dry.

Zumba'd again this morning, and press ups.

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 27/06/2011 12:17

Solo - your poor DD having the pox in this weather! Can she sit in a cold bath?

TheOriginalFAB · 27/06/2011 12:30

Just a quick note to say I have bought lots of salads so hope that will help with the weight coming off.
