Welcome one, and welcome ALL to our 10th Thread, celebrating the long haul that has been central to our successful weight loss...

There is certainly lots more success to be enjoyed, so stay and weigh, there is always someone on hand for support or to give a kick up the backside as needed Grin We are good at motivating one another that's for sure!

Passes out the champagne that looks suspiciously like wine, Blondes you are only allowed ONE!
Wine Wine Wine Wine Wine Wine Wine Wine Wine Wine
Wine Wine Wine Wine Wine Wine Wine Wine Wine Wine

Cheers and cue the confetti!!

:( Trimmer, I would mention it if I was you. Even if it turns out to be nothing!

Damn MIL brought Tiramisu with her!!! Aaarrrgghh! Am going to have to be especially good this week now! (Was really yummy & very boozy! Wink)

GettinTrimmer · 29/08/2011 21:54

I love tiramisu Bebe! Everything fun is either illegal, immoral or fattening Grin

Yes I will mention feeling hot to doc, but considering my age (48) I suspect it is normal, symptoms like this are supposed to start a few years before the menopause.

No snacking tonight (I'm posting so that I stay focused and do not give in to any munchies), I've had today:

boiled egg and toast for brekkie,

3 ryvita, prawns salad and fruit for lunch

3 quorn sausages, 2 small chunks of roast spud, pile of veg and gravy made with granules for tea. Followed by a digestive biscuit and a banana.

According to foodfocus this is just under 1500 calories.

prettybird · 30/08/2011 08:47

Forgot to post on Friday - STS after a bad week :( Not sure I'll be any better this week - but at least I have started doing the Shred again.

Agree that being peri-menopausal does affect the ability to lose weight, shape and bring on the occasional hot flush :(. At 50, I think I am now 5 months away from being officially menopausal as my last period was in February.

GettinTrimmer · 30/08/2011 09:18

Well done on sts Pretty.

I just have to accept weight is on very easily and lost slowly, but I feel focused in a way that means I can do it. Looking forward to starting the shred but I know that I will ache for two days after the first session!

Smalline · 30/08/2011 09:32

I'm 2 months behind you pretty cos my last one was in April.

I'm not sure if I will be joining you with the shredding ladies, I have started having problems with my back, don't know how or why but last Friday I was in a lot of pain, I can't say I was doing anything out of the ordinary, I managed to get down the gym yesterday, but I had to take it really slow which was so frustrating, I hardly broke sweat and didn't feel that I had had a work out. Anyway 3lbs on this week, I forgot to weigh myself on friday so did it yesterday.

I must say Pretty you have done so well during the holidays not to put any weight on, I salute youGrin.

Trimmer sorry about your gain, I'll keep my fingers crossed that we both have a good week this week.

Well done blondes & bebe for sts.

prettybird · 30/08/2011 09:47

smalline : do you do Pilates at all? I've find it is really good for strengthening your back and since I started nearly 12 years ago, I've not had problems with my back (other parts of my body yes! Wink). Because it strengthens your core muscles, your back has more support - and a good instructor also does plenty of stretching exercise and other ones that help your spine.

I'm fortunate that I've got a really good instructor (she must be, I drive 45 minutes to get to her, even though there are now closer ones): she is also one of the Scottish trainers' trainers (so we often get trainees giving part of our class under her supervision) and also trains/gives classes to many of the local physios.

Smalline · 30/08/2011 10:02

I have done Pilates once or twice, when I was younger but it wasn't my thing iykwim, I found it too slow, the more energetic the exercise the more I enjoy it, now that I'm getting older though I might have to change my way of thinking, any ideas how I go about finding a good instructor pretty?

prettybird · 30/08/2011 10:38

Try this site Smalline. This was how I found Louise - although I notice that there are loads more instructors now (in fact, I recognise the names of many of them as trainees who took some of our classes).

A good instructor would probably want to have a one-to-one session or sessions with you before you start in a class.

PisteysInManhatten · 30/08/2011 17:23

Officially I am the size of the isle of Wight...

But I'm baaaaaaccccccckkkkk and going to read and see how you are all doing.

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/08/2011 23:33

Smalline · 31/08/2011 08:53

Thanks for the link Pretty.

Welcome home PisteSmile.

GettinTrimmer · 31/08/2011 10:40

You have 2 days before wi pisty. Also no comment Sad

Glad you had a good holiday

Blondes if a massive fry up is all you've eaten that's not very much imo

Didn't have a great day yesterday as family came for lunch and I made home made pizzas and apple pie, but didn't have big portions.

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/09/2011 07:36

right ladies

today is the 1st of sept that means SHRED day!!!!!

GettinTrimmer · 01/09/2011 08:14

Yes.... .....I was planning on starting on 5th, but will do it today, no time like the present. Not until after lunch, late afternoon. What time are you doing yours Blondes?

bebejones · 01/09/2011 10:36

I distinctly remember agreeing to the 5th!!! Hmm I can't do it with DD at home, hazardous!!

GettinTrimmer · 01/09/2011 10:58

Having said that, I have just done day 1 level 1 Smile

It was hard work having not done any exercise for a while. BUT I did it! And didn't find it as hard as I thought I would.

prettybird · 01/09/2011 11:58

Well done Trimmer :)

I was dying after the first time I did it: dripping sweat everywhere and thought that either (or both) my boobs or my upper arms were swollen as they felt like they had expanded so much - but it was just the painful throbbing! Blush

and at the time I was only using 1kg weights and doing the easier version of all the exercises.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 01/09/2011 13:08

I am definitely starting on Monday Bebe, because I cannot put up with derisory laughter from my DC, but also I need to get weights and will do that at the weekend

So weigh in day tomorrow. I have been so good since we walked off the plane on Tuesday morning, but I am certainly anticipating a gain. My aim at the start of the holidays was to still be 10 stone something by the time I go back to work, which is Monday. I'm not sure how the shred will fit in with running which I still want to do - should I alternate running and shred or just go for it??!!

But I am low carbing again and thinking of starting a thread to see if anyone else wants to.

So let the race begin!
GT, Small and Pretty - are you ready??
Blondes - are you joining Bebe and me? I'd quite understand if not, but you are welcome to lose to me if you want, I don't want you to feel left out Smile
Are you ready Bebe?

Off we go!!

OP posts:
prettybird · 01/09/2011 13:22

Piste - I'll often do the Shred and then follow with a short run, using the Shred as a sort of warm-up. As I don't do the Shred at weekends (when ds is around), once I get my miles up, I'd do my longer runs then.

I think the Shred's benefits are maximised by doing it on successive days.

bebejones · 01/09/2011 15:18

Think my bloomin friend is supporting team Piste. She just gave me a massive courgette (she's grown loads) after I told her you can make cakes with them. She wants me to test this out!!! Damn it!!! I shall make cake & give it back to her! :o

On plus side just went on a 3 hour blackberry hunt with friend & the DDs up & down hills. So hot, I'm currently flaked out on sofa but have to go & make SIL some birthday cupcakes, struggling to feel the motivation to move!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 01/09/2011 15:28

We want lots of Team Piste supporters. I might make a flag..

GettinTrimmer · 01/09/2011 15:55

Successive days it is then Pretty, I really need this shred. Just put on a pair of size 14 shorts and they are tight around the waist with an overhang Sad

TheGhostNotMe · 01/09/2011 17:52

shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I am in disguise. But I am restarting the diet and exercise today. I know I am way different to my last weigh in here. I am now a 14 instead of a 12. But I'm not weighing in for a couple of weeks - I am going to have a couple of weeks of easing in slowly first. I have decided that new job today, alongside giving up smoking (sadly gym was too expensive) and ordering The Shred for next week will mean a whole lifestyle change. I am sick of yo-yoing. I am doing something about it this time.

So I wont be back under normal name for a couple of weeks until I weigh in properly. But I'm here, and sticking to it 100% this time.

Hoping you all know who I am - most of you are friends with me on FB!!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 01/09/2011 17:56

Hugs TheGhostNotMe
Well done for giving up the fags, and good for you for starting to Shred
It's a start for a whole new you xx
