Thank you all for your kind words.

Blondes glad your getting there and yes it does seem like a lot but i figure if i lose a pound a week for a year it will make a huge difference

Thanks for the welcome springfollows, I agree, seems like a sensible plan for life not just for 'diet' - i hate that word! LOL

NoWayNoHow yes, thats exactly what I thought - I love the mini goals you folks set for yourself so have already had a think through and will take it in portions of 7 pounds at a time :) . Congrats on the comments - thats always nice.

HeyHo wonderful group aren't they? Congrats on your massive loss! so inspiring

Herding Brulee sounds amazing

HaughtyChuckle Yay for the return of curves - I have quite pronounced curves so am looking forward to losing a smidge of the flubber so they can be seen (and shown off) again :)

Am planning out my shopping for delivery at the end of the week after payday and its amazing how many of your suggestions have made up my trolley lol. Am especially looking forward to bns soup - I love bns but havn't made it in ages!

cacklingdragon · 23/05/2011 14:18

oooh, had the thread only set to one page at a time so missed a whole bunch of other messages there

loubloutwinmum thanks for the welcome and am looking forward to these little successes - at the moment they are all i can see as can't imagine 130 lol

littlefish thanks for your words. your story has been especially inspiring to me and i think you should know that.

herdingcats thanks for your welcome as well - hope your back feels better soon

vnmum hope your feeling better soon as well

Have a great day everyone :)

Littlefish · 23/05/2011 14:48

cackling - 1lb a week is 4 stone over a year! Just keep that in mind and you'll be fine. Smile

What day do you weigh in?

SookieD · 23/05/2011 15:01

Hello all, can I join?

Just back on WW online again - have to shed baby weight, plus the toddler weight gained with the last baby Blush Totally shocking to see how many points I must have been using each day prior to starting WW!

Not being terribly strict with myself but trying to do better. Only on week 2 and not going to do strict weigh ins as I always end up getting disappointed.

mistlethrush · 23/05/2011 15:07

Cackling - Littlefish and I have agreed to hold hands until next year at least - even if some others no longer need to be here! Grin

Sookie - are you doing Propoints? and are you doing it on-line or something - I know what you mean about getting disappointed (although I've mainly been pleasantly Shock doing it so far this time) but I find actually having to go and get a WI, in public, with effectively a stranger looking to see how I'm doing just helps me tip the balance when I'm wavering about potentially eating something that I shouldn't late at night....

SookieD · 23/05/2011 15:23

Yes pro-points - which is a bit of a pain as I want to use my old recipe books etc which have old points values.

I did used to go to weigh in but it's not practical with the kids and I didn't like the leader. You do everything online and use online daily tracker and WI etc.

mistlethrush · 23/05/2011 15:30

It would be a pain, but you can re point all your books. We pointed all of a baking book last time - will have to redo with PP (or continue to try not to cook any of them anyway)

I'm sure you can mistle - I didn't realise you were a knitter as well. I find it good for keeping my hands busy in the evening. Even I can't knit and eat at the same time. Smile

vnmum · 23/05/2011 16:23

well done loublou great loss
I'm not sure what this weeks WI will bring either. I don't know why but yesterday i just stuffed myself with crap so am way over my weeklies. I am considering doing desperate measures again but don't want to get into a habit of doing that as it's not healthy. Hopefully if i can get out running etc this week it might make a difference for next week at least, maybe not this week though

HaughtyChuckle · 23/05/2011 17:01

well done to all losses

WI for me soon

HeyH0 · 23/05/2011 17:25

Good work Loublou!

Yep, NoWay 2kg is just under 4.5 lbs. Hopefully, if I'm equally saintly this week I'll show another decent loss.

My 12 week WW online subscription is up in 24 hours; I've decided not to renew & 'go it alone' - I'm still going to use points to keep track of what I'm eating, at least for a little while, but I'm going to track calories too (as I've been doing for the past month or so). I seem to have reached the point where I can't lose weight when I use a good chunk of my weeklies, so have had to count calories in order to make sure I don't put on weight. Call me cheap, but I begrudge paying £10 a month too access the WW tracker when it's clear I'm going to have to tinker with the plan. Blush

HeyH0 · 23/05/2011 17:35

Good luck Haughty.

benbon · 23/05/2011 18:43

herdingcats that was me with the ribs... and unfortunately i had 2 racks that week one at tgi and one at woodys diner... think on that 1 day i must of eaten nearly 100 pp....
but hay they were delicious and somehow i still managed to lose 2lbs that week!!!

LolaLadybird · 23/05/2011 19:44

NoWay - I go to a meeting, otherwise would change my WI day in a flash! Although a friend who ways on same day pointed out she would probably go really overboard at the weekends without the spectre of a WI looming 2 days later and I think she has a point!

Cackling and Sookie - welcome. This thread has made a huge difference to me too. As well as the support and the good ideas, it's really motivational to hear others' success stories.

Well done on the losses Heyho and Loublou

Was reading your posts about your IL's with interest NoWay. If it's any consolation my MIL is the opposite and everything is very low fat, very low cholesterol and, um, very low taste! When we visited at Easter, she served me and SIL our dinners on child size plates. I thought it probably wasn't such a bad thing given I was trying to lose weight but SIL, who is already slim, was a bit HmmShock! I'm sure there is a middle ground somewhere ...:)

Feeling nervous about WI tomorrow especially as almost TOTM and I can feel that bloaty feeling starting. On the +ve side - I bought a v scrumptious fresh dip from Sainsbury's at the weekend called Picantemole - it's made with black beans, pinto beans, sour cream, red peppers and chilli and is only 2PP for quarter of a pot. V low points snack if had with some chopped raw veg ...

HaughtyChuckle · 23/05/2011 20:08

I maintained :( had more choc tonight than I normally would bad times

I'm changing my points tonight see how I go :(

StarryEyedMama · 23/05/2011 20:10

Hi All

Is there space for me on here? I've started WW (again) but doing it online this time as the leader near me is rubbish which is such a shame as I prob do better to go to a meeting tsk Hmm
Anyhow, trying to be as positive as I can. I kept putting off starting (hope I'm not the only one?) always making excuses as to why I can't start my diet this week but this is the time to do it. I am at my heaviest, currently weighing in at a mahoosive 18 stone and need to lose around 9 stone - which seems impossible but I know others have done it so I keep reading success stories to keep me motivated. How do you all keep yourself motivated and stop reaching the biscuit tin? Hope everyone is having a good week Smile

CareyFakes · 23/05/2011 21:31

I weighed in at 17st 12lbs in January...I'm now in at 14st 6lbs. It can be done. I am continuing to lose, haven't had a gain or stay the same yet (time will come) but I take it each 7lbs a time. I noticed the difference at 2st, but by 3st my confidence has shot through the roof.

I find my motivation in seeing how I look, once I started noticing the difference (vanity wise) I really felt more motivation, and still do.

We can do it, take it each week at a time.

LolaLadybird · 23/05/2011 22:07

Just noticed a terrible typo in earlier post - 'ways' should have been 'weighs' (have slight pedant tendencies Wink)!

cacklingdragon · 23/05/2011 23:21

littlefish exactly - which is loads really, so that's the aim for next summer i think. Going to do offical weigh in on Thursday mornings I believe since will be officially joining on Thurs

mistlethrush wonderful to know that you both plan on sticking around, i foresee this thread becoming an important part of my journey.

SookieD hi and welcome - am just a newbie too :)

thanks for the welcome Lola and GL for weigh in

hi starry am just new too and also need to lose quite a bit of weight (between 8 and 11 stone depending)

careyfakes congrats on your massive loss - all of your success stories are so motivating

JoJoBaldwin · 24/05/2011 07:06

HeyHo Well done on the 2kg off!
Haughty hurray for visible curves!
NoWayI agree mushroom/leek sauce could be even better with salt - I forget other people use it lol. I am a no-salt cook, don't have it in the house. Only ever use it if I have chips at the seaside or egg and chips in a greasy spoon. Then it is compulsory ;-). At home I have found black pepper a brilliant substitute and tend to make more adventurous decisions with herbs and spices.
Carey Lots of meetings in and around Boradstairs, shouldn't be a problem. Loving the getting it on diet.
Sookie Welcome

Feelin NoWay's pain about being in vicinity of crap-eating in-laws. I've got the same this weekend except they are coming to my house! Before you can say "heart-attack" my kitchen will be full of crisps, biscuits, oven chips, turkey twizzlers and weird nuclear-coloured sweeties. They'll probably bring a 4 litre bottle of e-additived cordial too. Seriously, I don't know how they can eat like this. I stayed for a week at their house once and put on a stone! In a WEEK! And can tell you putting on the weight that quickly affected my health so much, it was shocking to see the effect it had - messed my hormones up big-time. My sis-in-law is v overweight and having a stressful time at the mo so is likely to be overeating even more. She even said on fb she is looking forward to "a weekend of eating"!!!!! I just want to shake her and wrestle her away form the cream cakes/kebabs.

Not had a good few days tracking-wise. My downfall the last few days has been (embarrassed) golden syrup sandwiches. What that is even doing in my cupboard I don't know but it has completely ruined any chance of weight-loss this week unless I really get on it between now and friday. I have poured the gunk down the bin now.

Have got some decent exercise though so hopefully that will help. Bit of a wii workout yesterday and on sunday walked 4 miles to broadstairs, took part in world record breaking dance routine (!), then walked 4 miles back home. If it's not raining will get out for more walking today.

Littlefish · 24/05/2011 08:29

Weigh-in for me tonight. It's not going to be good. We had a lovely weekend with friends, but I'm paying for it now, plus my period is due sometime this week so I feel really bloated too.

Fingers crossed that I've stayed the same. I'll report back later. Smile

SpringFollows · 24/05/2011 08:42

Weigh-in for me tonight too. I am a bit worried after the weekend blowouts!

My DPs are coming this weekend also- they eat ALOT. We have a family thing at the weekend. I plan to stick to 29 every day, limit alcohol and then for Friday dinner and Sunday function I will 'choose strategically'. And NOT blow out. No way. (ahem)

LolaLadybird · 24/05/2011 08:54

LOL at the golden syrup sandwiches JoJo. I used to have a weakness for golden syrup on toast - haven't had it for years but now it's been raised in my consciousness!! Might be a treat for post-WI this morning!

Sending good vibes to everyone with WI today ... Smile
