OK, so I've trawled the old thread and now have the baked mushroom recipe etc and linguine, but can't find the Leek/mushroom sauce. Sorry to be a pain but could someone repost it for me?

Have also copied froots 'rules'. Need to get to goal, but I feel it slipping away!

Thanks Smile

tiredemma · 23/05/2011 09:39

Im trying to 'blast' these last few days up to weigh in with some exercise. I did a 'line Dancing' class last night with some of my patients from work!! was exhausted at the end of it.

I just wish that I could eat whatever I wanted and could stay slim Sad. Tough week this week.

NoWayNoHow · 23/05/2011 09:49

willaby here's the recipe courtesy of JoJo!

"Pasta in creamy mushroom and leek sauce

The sauce:
150g mushrooms sliced
2-3 leeks sliced
half a red onion diced
200g extra light philly
veg stock (about a pint)

put all the veg in a big saucepan, add the stock, bring to boil then simmer for 20 mins or so to reduce and intensify the flavour.
Stir in the philly.

Makes easily enough for 4 for a total of 7pp (I included 1pp for stock) and trust me it's frickin lovely. Especially with some coarse ground black pepper sprinkled over.

Or split between two people and just have less pasta. With 50g of pasta and half the sauce it would be a really substantial meal for 8/9pp."

I did the half the sauce + 50g pasta for 8pp, and it was lush. Only thing I would say is that I personally had to add a bit of salt during cooking (I know, I know, salt is bad for me!) as the leeks got really sweet, and JoJo is spot on about the black pepper - adds a delicious dimension!

Willabywallaby · 23/05/2011 09:53

That was speedy thanks muchly.

CareyFakes · 23/05/2011 09:54

Morning all.

I showed incredible strength on Friday night lol The man and I had pizza, I had only 2 slices, that was it. Felt good, although I could've easily eaten the lot, and that was during a bottle of wine!

I had a bit of a naughty weekend in terms of not eating and not tracking. Really need to stop that, after last weeks epic 5lb loss, I'm hoping to lose a 1lb tbh. We're off to Broadstairs on Tuesday evening so will find a WI meeting for Wednesday and get my weight noted.

I might make that Pasta dish, sounds great. I've tracked brekkie and will be good this week. Strange that I don't over eat I'm more concerned about not eating! The first flushes of love...pfft!

Did have loads of sex again so calories are being burnt Grin

Willabywallaby · 23/05/2011 09:56

I too resolve to track again.

But not had the sex, DH starved at the moment.

CareyFakes · 23/05/2011 10:03

I find tracking is successful for me, I like to make sure all points are accounted for but I've been so bloody pre-occupied along with exams and what not, it's been an impossible 3 weeks to track!

Got an exam at 9am tomorrow, last one so I'll be relieved once it's done, can try and get some routine back

NoWayNoHow · 23/05/2011 10:06

Tracking for me already falling by the wayside, and it's barely 10am! Just had 5 teeny porcini mushroom crackers with Phillp E/L. Lush, but a waste of PP!

They were left here by friends yesterdaay, and part of me thinks that the best thing to do is to eat all the bad stuff in one go so it's no longer in the house an tempting! False and rubbish logic, I know!!

CareyFakes · 23/05/2011 10:13

I'm the same NoWay so now ensure it's thrown out and I really have to challenge that belief of 'wasting' stuff, but if I kept all the crap then I'd just put back on what I lost.

I should get a dog, can lob it in their bowl lol

mistlethrush · 23/05/2011 10:23

I'm not great on tracking either - but I do try to fill in on line - much easier that way!

Trying to encourage DH to join the on-line option as I think that would help him.

Carey - very Envy at the exercise regime still Grin

Went out for a meal on Sat pm - had starter portion of pasta and a large salad - still think that I probably blew my points for the day, but I did mow the lawn which was actually fairly hard work as it was at least 6" long and taller in places - so I had to do the whole thing twice, once without the grassbox and a second time with the box on to try to pick most of the grass up....

herdingcats · 23/05/2011 10:48

Morning everyone Smile
Welcome cackling, its been the best thing I could do joining WW.
So far I'm going in the right direction . Off to the Isle of Wight next week though ,so might fall off the wagon. Am gooing to find a meeting for while I'm there to keep me on track. Its a bit like AA , being so serious about it.Hmm

NoWayNoHow · 23/05/2011 10:50

carey I also have that "wasting food" prevention mechanism built in from childhood, and it doesn't help that DH is more fanatic about it than I am! Oh well, they're gone now, and they only cost me 5pp with the philly extra light, so not the end of the world.

Decided to stop just guessing about weekend, so just sat down and tracked everything I can remember eating ate yesterday. 67pp Shock. At least I sexercised some of it off, and walked to and from the pub roast!

Still have 5 weeklies left, but not going to touch those - can't believe I had so many of them (well, actually I can - too much Wine)

WI is Thurs morning, so will be ultra good till then. Then it's off to the IL's for a few days which will be a NIGHTMARE. They have the most shocking diet of any people I know (both of them overweight, but MIL just been diagnosed with diabetes and has lost half a stone just from not eating chocolate and cake!)

Everything is ready meals/processed crap, which is a pity as she's actually a really good cook. When she does cook, though, it's all done with actual lard! Basically, I need to prepare for (a) the fact that not a vegetable will pass my lips for 5 days, and (b) that I will be about 4lbs heavier when I get back.

SpringFollows · 23/05/2011 11:04

Oh heavens NoWay that sounds like a nightmare!

Any chance you can offer to do all the cooking? If going to WW is not a secret for you (It is top secret for me, except for DH) you could offer to cook so you can stay on track and maybe a side benefit will be helping your ILs to eat better too?

Carey and others, JoJO's pasta dish is really VERY good. I am actually going to switch to Philly light for my creamy dishes now- it was SO creamy. Also, not frying/sauteeing the mushrooms meant they held their shape and texture and felt more meaty and did niot disappear the way they often do. I plan to try the prawn linguine next- maybe tomorrow after my WI. :)

CareyFakes · 23/05/2011 11:06

I am desperately trying not to instill that 'Don't waste food' thing into DD, I don't want her to grow up like me.

I now ensure that I measure things, take a moment to look at what I'm cooking and remember that doing too much is a waste and that I'll only eat it. It'll take time to amend my thought processes (Jesus wept, such a fucking psyche student lol) but I will get there and will re-condition myself to accept that waste isn't the end of the world and is preventable PRIOR to cooking!

Good luck with your week NoWay, as well as everyone else! I have to manually track this week as I have no computer on hand during the holiday. My sister has the iphone and is on WW too so she'll have to look everything up for me on her app lol

mistlethrush · 23/05/2011 11:16

I'm another 'eat what you've got on your plate' person - instilled into me at an early age. Also trying desperatly not to do the same for ds - he is told that as long as he has a bit of everything and makes a decent impression he can have some pudding (yoghurt with something) and he never has to clean his plate if he doesn't want to.

We do have a dog - who does benefit from leftovers sometimes - although she's also on a diet now her arthritus has prevented her running after her frisbee madly in the park.

DH is the worst on portion control - always cooks much too much pasta - and then eats it all anyway (or puts too much on my plate - which I then eat of course)

Have bought some sweet potatoes at the weekend as they are much better GI than normal ones. Grin

vnmum · 23/05/2011 11:27

welcome cackling
heyho fab loss
carey good luck with the exam
blondes one day at a time Smile, remember we are all here for you
noway i have had similar issues in the past with my parents, they don't seem too bad now since DF was diagnosed with diabetes, they don't have takeaways as much (used to be 3 times a week) and have altered how they cook some things but it's still a work in progress. I have become concerned about their diet in the past and got upset about the fact they are killing themselves with it, DH had a word with DM about it and it did seem to do the trick

My chest is starting to improve slightly, at last, so i'm hoping i can start running again this week. might start the shred too, and see how i get on

CareyFakes · 23/05/2011 11:43

I'm getting Gym envy again vnmum Envy

NoWayNoHow · 23/05/2011 11:44

Isn't it funny how a generation of people have grown up with a "eat everything and don't waste it" attitude? Do'nt get me wrong, i think it comes from a good place, a place of understanding that we aren't entitled to whatever we want whenever we want it and to be grateful for what we have, but it's gotten lost in translation a bit.

spring MIL is extremely protective of kitchen (have offered before and offer been politely declined) and is also VERY defensive about their eating habits. I think they both know that what they eat and the way they cook it is really bad for them, so they've just stuck their heads in the sad. FIL has high cholesterol too, yet still has deep fried sausages and chips for dinner Confused.

DH has tried talking to them about WW before and how well it works, but it's met with much polite smiling and nodding, but you can tell they've glazed over...

SpringFollows · 23/05/2011 11:51

Oh NOWay how very difficult. Deep fried sausages. [shudder]

A tough one- how not to offend them, yet still eat well. Good luck. :)

Any chance you can go out to eat at least once? Then you can have a huge salad. Or sneak fruit in.

My DM cooks well, but ENORMOUS portions, and she is terribly offended also if you do not eat everything. So I feel your pain.

NoWayNoHow · 23/05/2011 12:30

I know, the sausages are vile. Totally empathise with portion size and offence taken if it's not finished!

Definitely going out for roast on Sunday, so I can try to be clever with veg then, and we might go out for dinner on Friday for my birthday, but if we do it will only be to the local pub (IL's live in middle of nowhere) and then we're back in ham, egg and chips territory with the only salad on offer being the lettuce and tomato side garnish!! Grin. Only saving grace, ironically, is that if we go to see SIL on Saturday night, we'll probably get a Chinese, so I can stick to king prawn chow mein which is a nice, happy 9pp meal!

For the rest of the time, will just have to portion control as much as possible, snack on fruit (which they do have a lot of) and keep Wine down to a minimum.

loubloutwinmum · 23/05/2011 13:33

Hi all, sounds like some heavy weekends for some of you! I must admit to being a little embarrassed as I too had a few too many drinks, a take-away, a meal out and quite a few naughty treats but seem to have lost 3.5lbs this week! Was very good the rest of the week but the weekend was quite indulgent so not sure how I managed it really, especially as I am "maintaining".... My stats show that I am using an average of 31.5 points a day (get 35 to maintain) but I have stopped tracking milk in tea and coffee. Also only used an average of half my weeklies over the last month.

herding - am def going to try that creme brulee recipe - sounds amazing and for just 2 pp. You could use other fruit at the bottom, I love raspberries and rhubarb so may be experimenting a bit with that one.
cackling - welcome - good luck with your weight loss - just set small goals and you'll be amazed at how quickly your first 7lbs turns into your first stone!
HeyHo - great loss for you - really well done.
NoWay - your 67pp in one day is impressive, I wonder who has the record for the most points in a day! What you ate sounds lovely though & I am sure the sexercise burned most of it off - the most rewarding type of exercise I find Wink
Vnmum - glad your chest is a bit better and you can start exercising again. I have not done shred for ages! I was watching a bit of the Biggest Loser USA last week and Gillian was shouting at one of the contestants and I remembered the Shred DVD at the back of the cupboard, however, it is still there!

Anyway, busy day for me so have to dash! Lots of luck for all the WI's girls.

Littlefish · 23/05/2011 13:51

Wow Loublou - that's a fantastic weekly weight loss. Well done!

Cacking - I started off with 8 stone to lose, to get me into a healthy BMI. I'm 6 pounds off being half way there! I've been doing WW since October and lost weight slowly and steadily. I absolutely agree with what the others have said about setting small goals. Don't think about the 130lbs - just take it a bit at a time. My next mini goal is to lose 6 lbs by the end of June (taking myself to 4 stone loss). I'm not sure I'm going to make it as I'm off on holiday for two weeks to an all-inclusive place which doesn't sound good for diets! Grin

I've had a shocking weekend! We had friends staying and although I really did try hard with the meals, there was just too much food around and I ended up picking on cheese and odd bits of cake etc. I feel really bloated now and have no hope for a loss on Tuesday. It's a shame, because a pound loss would take me down into the next stone bracket, just in time for my holiday. Oh well. I'll be as good as I can today and tomorrow to try and minimise the damage.

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/05/2011 13:53

well done lou

OP posts:
herdingcats · 23/05/2011 13:58

loublou- I thought apricots or peaches might be nice. Also it could be flavoured with coffee to make a change. Just dissolve a couple of tsp of instant coffee in a drop of water and add.
On the most points in a day ,I saw a post on the last thread when I had just started and someone had been to TGI Fridays . They had the raack of ribs which is 66PP alone, so their day must have been very high!!

I'm trying to stay busy today, and its difficult as my back is terrible. Off to see the consultant tonight for a review of my latest MRI. Feel torn about what I want the outcome to be.I want to be better but am scared to bits about the operation he is suggesting.Confused
Good luck for this week all of you fellow WW buddies Smile

HaughtyChuckle · 23/05/2011 14:04
