Hey all!

Back after a few days, so sorry for not namechecking, but welcome newbies, congrats to losers and commiserations for gains and sts.

First two days of work finished now, brain feels like complete mush as there's SO much info to assimilate in the induction process. My arm is healing nicely, thanks, and has gone a lovely shade of yellow Grin

I've been mostly good at work - taking packed lunches and snacking on fruit. My only downfall is the Galaxy Hot Chocolate in the machine - thankfully it's a teeny portion, so hoping it's not too bad, but definitely having one a day! All in all, I reckon I'm edging far more towards "maintenance" points than "losing weight" points, as I just seem to be STARVING so soon after eating. I don't know if it's th brain power that I'm using which is eating up my energy, but I'm definitely substantially hungrier at work than I was at home.

In fact, at home I used to eat because it was breakfast/lunch/dinner rather than because I was hungry, whereas at work I'm literally stomach-growling-hunger-gnawing ravenous in between my normal meals.

Anyone got any theories as to why this is happening? Feel like I am going to have to seriously adjust my portions/what I eat and when if I'm to make it through the day without passing out.

wizzler · 21/06/2011 19:30

Weigh in tonight and I lost 1.5 lbs. Hurrah.

Noway... I eat loads of fruit when I am at work to stave off the munchies... maybe banana, couple of kiwi, sugar snap peas.. anything to keep me going till lunch!

vnmum · 21/06/2011 19:47

well done wizzler

Littlefish · 21/06/2011 20:25

Bunty - I started off on 42 points a day because I was very heavy. I still lost weight every week. 50 points is a lot - how old is your baby? Perhaps you could experiment over a couple of weeks, using different number of points e.g. a week on 50 points, a week on 45 points, a week on 40 points etc. and see what effect it has on your weight loss. Smile

On a very, very unexpectedly happy note, I have lost another pound. That makes mine a 3stone 9.5lb loss in total. Grin

vnmum · 21/06/2011 20:28

well done littlefish

I have just been googling how much my goal jeans are now (i only paid about £30 for them 10 years ago), they are 501's and they are £70 - £85 now Shock, so thats saved me a fortune as i have another pair in my wardrobe.

BuntyCollocks · 21/06/2011 20:30

Well done littlefish!

He's 4 1/2 months. I've had 30 points today, and no idea where I could put another 20! I think I shall have to experiment, especially as this weekend is going to be bad. :/

froot · 21/06/2011 22:11

Oops put on a halfer this week but I deserved to. And today my hand kept sneaking into liquorice allsorts/biscuits/chocolate like it had a mind of it's own. But on the good side I had ww recipe of chickpea and bns tagine for tea which was delish and I had salmon for lunch so not all bad. That's it no more days like that now for only 4 weeks til holiday and I really really want to get 4 lb off!

Well done all the losers sorry no namechecking...

MrsTerryPratchett · 22/06/2011 02:37

Wizzler, well done on your loss. It is karma for suggesting this thread to me. I STS for 3 weeks. This week I have had a 3.2lb loss, getting to my 10%. Cute keyring and everything.

Thank you for the support. The baby weight has gone, now just the eggs benedict/pie/wine/chips weight to go.

stainesmassif · 22/06/2011 10:44

Thanks for the advice, blondes and vnmum much appreciated.

Regarding sts/gaining when you feel you've been doing everything right- i've found by weighing myself daily that my weight can fluctuate by 4-5lb between one day and the next, so if i have a bad WI, i look forward to the next one and remind myself it's a marathon.

Good luck to everyone, am particularly crap on big threads with lots of namechecks so will duck in and out.

SheepAreSuper · 22/06/2011 11:16

Well done littlefish, wizzler and Mrs
You've reminded me that I came across my 10% keyring and gold key during a clear out at the weekend. Since I'm online this time, I'll re-award them to myself on reaching these goals :)

Keep at it any gainers and STS'ers, it's a bit like the tortoise and the hare. Slow and steady.

vnmum your jeans story reminds me of the shirt I kept when I was 16 that I aimed to slim back into the first time round on WW...sadly but unsurprisingly it's a bit snug again now Blush

During my clear out I came across the trousers I wore at my first weigh-in back then. They were roughly a size 20 (they say 18 in the label but I seem to get miraculously stretchy clothes that lull me into a false sense of my actual size Confused). They did make me feel a little better about having put some back on as it could be worse. I'm so glad I kept them.

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/06/2011 13:25

well done littlefish wizzler and mrs

im in complete shame as ate some seriously yummy rocky road at coffee morning Blush

mistlethrush · 22/06/2011 14:02

Grrr sts. And thats after a +.5 last week too.

I'm just going to have to face it - those occasional slices of bread (within points) will just have to go. Confused

Since I last posted on Monday morning loads of you have reported losses Androbbob, bartlett, Hatti, Bunty, Littlefish and MrsTerryPratchett, so very well done all!, and well done HeyHO on joining the 50lb club Smile

Come on then Blondes fess up, how much rocky road did you eat? Just a teeny liddle bit or lots! Don't worry about it though - draw a line under it and regroup. Have you invested in those Count on Me ready meals yet?

Glad that work is going well NoWay - embrace the hunger you've been experiencing if you can; probably means you've been burning fat (although as you are at goal I know you don't want to burn too much more)! Agree though that best tactic is to take some fruity snacks with you to keep you going until lunch

Lost track re who asked about weeklies. I have always eaten my 49 weeklies per week and have lost every week except for 3 (been at it since November) when I gained 1/2lb one week and Sts for the other two weeks. I do however exercise like a demon possessed....and sometimes my weekly loss is quite modest.

Good luck to everyone with a WI today (including me! - gibbers!)

wizzler · 22/06/2011 19:38

Welcome Dandy.. don't be nervous.. just jump in! Well I think the new propoints are better because fruit is zero points so you can have as many bananas/ apples/ grapes/ mango etc as you like and still lose weight. I go to meetings, but the techy types on here all swear by their i phones and I have to admit the e sourcing stuff is handy.

Well done Littlefish, and especially well done to MrsTerry.. getting a loss is so much more motivating then STS.

Hard luck Froot, but as many told me when I gained 0.5.. that is just one trip to the bathroom!

Blondes.. I know you are not 100%, because someone asked a question about using weeklies, and you didnt even have a small rant. Hope you are ok.

herdingcats · 22/06/2011 20:28

Hello all, welcome newbies.
WI this week went better than expected, Shockglad to report 1lb loss.Grin
dandy- I don't very often feel hungry, and if I do I drink water 1st before going for 0PP foods and as a last resort I would have something low points. Also a good tip I was given was to get busy if you feel hungry and you are to busy to want food HTH Smile

hmc · 22/06/2011 20:37

Well done herding on 1lb off.

I lost 1.5lb tonight bringing cumulative total to 59lbs, and just 1lb to go to get to goal weight, so better make darned sure I do that next week.

Wizzler - you're right, Blondes not ranting about weeklies in that feisty way she has is not typical for her. Hope you are doing okay Blondes.....

hmc · 22/06/2011 20:38

dandy - I often feel hungry too and have been known to go to bed early to escape the pangs! Does it make me irritable? no more than usual (which is pretty irritable tbh Grin)

hmc · 22/06/2011 20:39

Oh but the hungry feelings are definitely not all the time....

lizardqueenie · 22/06/2011 21:04

hello there wondering if you can help me?

I am thinking of joining WW too not 100% sure if i would do meetings or just online and with iphone as I have a small DD but was just wondering how you all find it works out with the points? I have done SW before which I know is great for some but I really need to learn to eat healthily & control my portions which for me sw didnt do.

How do you go about planning what you are going to have, say for lunch or dinner, do you work out your meals and shopping before hand or do you just look up your points as you go?

Thanks

LolaLadybird · 22/06/2011 22:46

Blimey, you ladies can talk!! Haven't dropped in since Sunday and am suddenly pages behind again!

So, on that note, no name checking but just wanted to mention to those that are stalling not to be disheartened. I only last half a pound in my 2nd week of WW having lost 5lbs in the first week and was gutted as I felt I'd been really good but I think it was my body just wanting to slow the weight-loss down a bit. I just stayed focussed and then had a good loss the following week. Think Staines' comment above about remembering its a marathon is very wise {feel like we need a wise emoticon - could be an owl perhaps, anyway I digress ...}

Didn't make it to WI yesterday and just too much going on in one day including DD's sports day and cake-baking for the PTA teas at said sports day so conducted my own unofficial (but v honest!) WI at home and had lost 1lb which is great as I rather my lost my focus towards the end of the weekend and it's also TOTM. Sat in a very long, late meeting at work this afternoon with plate of biscuits in front of me for the duration and managed to stop at one so starting this week strong! Wink

As ever - congrats to the losers and welcome to the newbies.

Willabywallaby · 22/06/2011 23:06

Just checking in my 3.5lb loss tonight. Sounds great but had a 2lb gain last week so thinking of it as 1.5lb loss. Anyway still pleased, 2.5pm from goal, not as close as some though!

vnmum · 22/06/2011 23:09

well doen herding, lola, hmc on the losses

lizard I usually do a meal plan then do my weekly shop but on a daily basis i work out what i'm having for breakfast and dinner first and point it up then see what i have left for lunch and eat something that fits in

NoWayNoHow · 23/06/2011 07:43

Morning all - quick pre-work drop in to report 0.5 gain - not bothered, it's not a lot and I'm still very close to goal.

Just means that I might need to find a more effective way of filling the work hunger hole!

Congrats wizzler, littefish, MrsTerry, herding, hmc and willaby.

Sorry about sts mistlethrush - must be frustrating. At least it's not another gain though...

froot we're in the same boat with the 0.5lb - personally, half pounds have never really bothered me (whether coming off or going on) because they're such a little weight - less than half a small bag of pasta of pasta shapes!!

lizard our house is like a religious shrine to meal plans. I find the only way I can make WW work for me is by tracking my breakfast as I eat it, and then tracking what we have planned for dinner. Then I know exactly what points I have to play with for lunch and snacks. If I have time, I even do a packed lunch so I know the pp value for that two. Then left over dailies are literally snacking pp. HTH!

Good luck to you all WI today.
