There are lots of regulars who are well on their weigh (get it! ) Grin and others who have just joined us - we're a mixed bag, all shapes and sizes and all with different goals to achieve but we're all striving for the same thing. We're all here to will one another on with advice, support and lots of cheering!

Androbbob is our resident stat checker and keeps us motivated by totting up the total weight loss each week.

we have lost an amazing amount since jan 2011 Shock

We're quite fast moving at times so just dive in - pour yourself a Wine or [cuppa] and make yourself at home

welcome mrsterrypratchett, yeah just come on and tell us how you are doing or just pop on for a chat, we all do hence why we have filled so many threads so far Smile

blondes I know you have so much else to worry about at the moment and are just taking each day as it comes, and you shouldn't have to worry about WW too, but, I also fully understand that you don't want to lose control and end up feeling really crap in a few months time because you have gained some back. If in your mind you feel ready to get back on track with WW then i think it is a good idea to have this weekend as planned and then focus on monday. It will give you enough time to plan meals and shop accordingly so you feel in control and able to jump back on the bandwagon easier

Has anyone had the WW site reset on them this morning? I went on to track my breakfast and i got a page that was introducing me to propoints and i had to check all my stats were right etc. It had also lost some of the quick added stuff i had tracked yesterday so i had to re track those today, grrr

NoWayNoHow · 17/06/2011 10:56

vnmum yes, exactly the same thing just happened to me this morning! Thought it was because I was on a different computer, but apparently not! And congrats on the 3lbs!

blondes sorry about the gain Sad No matter, Monday is a new week and if you feel ready to focus on it again, then you GO GIRL! (right, I really can't pull that off)

Welcome mrsterry - I love your name as much as I love your "husband"!

willaby and benbon sorry for gains...

Congrats on1lb IHeart (also, can I PM you some more about areas near you?)

androbbob sorry for sts, know what you mean about it not being a gain (good) but still not moving where it needs to (bad)! Don't think I'm going to switch to maintaining just yet - at the mo, I really just about managing to stay withing dailies AND weeklies AND activity pp, so reckon if I keep to the losing weight points, but be relaxed if I'm not perfect about it, then I'll probably maintain anyway. Just think if i suddenly add more pp to my day, I'll go mad and finish them all and then still go over weeklies - would definitely gain then!

Am nursing injuries today, as yesterday I managed to get my arm trapped in the mechanism of the sofabed - was stuck for 20mins and nigh on hysterical by the time I managed to free myself. Envisaged a "127 Hours" scenario involving me gnawing off my own arm. Bruised and battered today (arm and pride) so feeling very sorry for myself! Start work on Monday again too - nervous and excited all at once!

Has everyone got lovely plans for the weekend?

DirtyMartini · 17/06/2011 11:15

Shock NoWay - 20 minutes! How did that happen?! Congratulations on reaching goal, by the way.

blondes, don't beat yourself up, there is time enough to fix the small gain. And vnmum's advice sounds really good. I hope you are OK about it (and as OK as you can be generally, under the circs)

@ benbon for mentioning bacon sandwiches

MrsTerryPratchett, welcome - I am quite new to the thread as well but yes, I think you just jump in and tell us how things are going :) Good luck for Tuesday.

I had a bad day on Wednesday when I stupidly purchased really nice bread that DS loves, and ended up hoovering a few bits with Lurpak in the twilight zone before the kids' bath/bedtime. I'd been on track all day and just had a moment of bread madness - it really is like an addiction. Regained my powers of resistance yesterday though and hoping for another good day today, as I've got lots of ww-friendly stuff in the fridge. Two more days until WI.

IHeartIona · 17/06/2011 11:41

NoWay - sure, go ahead! Smile
glad you managed to free yourself from your sofabed, that sounds nasty!

NewChoos · 17/06/2011 13:01

Quick 10 mins while DS asleep (and want to do some ordering on net!), so don't have chance to read whole thread - sorry but well done on losses and good luck to all.

I STS this week but have not tracked at all, lost momentum really Blush
and was out all last weekend (ice creams and choc cake...). Am starting to be strict again and aim to lost at least 1/2 stone by the end of July.

Bf does make me blooming hungry though.

DirtyMartini · 17/06/2011 13:15

Just went on track my points for today and saw what you mean, vnmum - how annoying! I can't think why we would have to do this; surely a mistake?

I don't have time to go through replacing all my tracked items, not at all Angry but it won't let me past the screen otherwise. FFS.

IHeartIona · 17/06/2011 13:47

I just had the same thing on the website DirtyMartini, had to delete all my quick added items otherwise you can't get in. someone has pressed the wrong button somewhere I think at WW. I remember this happening once before.
How bloddy annoying!
NewChoos well done for STS when not tracking, get back on it now!

DirtyMartini · 17/06/2011 14:07

I was going to delete them but then the warning about them all disappearing from my previous tracking stopped me - wouldn't that throw out the totals for the whole week? Aargh.

LoopyLa · 17/06/2011 14:26

Hello folks! :)

Long time no see - well, I lie Blush, I've been a-lurking like a bad smell but not wanted to jump back on as, after horrible fambo situation & being rubbish, I was too ashamed to jump back in & have gained 4lbs....

The WW website - mine was pants too this morning, but DON'T PANIC. Mine is ok now but they are aware of it & trying to fix both app & website - at least that's what they've said on their f/b page!

I've been better this week though, tracked well and am hoping to lose tomorrow on my WI.

Now, I know a few hundred pages ago people were chatting about the psychological effects of weight gain, why we do, why some of us could eat the world, etc and how WW doesn't really deal with weight loss from that persepective so I wondered if anyone had read any books, articles, jumped on websites that has either helped them get motivated or RE-motivate or at least made them think twice about what they're consuming?

Oh, and it's good to be back :)

LoopyLa · 17/06/2011 14:28

Oh, and I want to lose as close to 8lbs as possible by 16th July taking me to 11 stone... I have a school reunion type thing & want to look HOT Grin

vnmum · 17/06/2011 14:39

welcome back loopy
I was lucky on the website this morning as my new week started yesterday so i could delete all y quick added things so i could actually get in the site and then i only had to add a few things back on to yesterdays tracker to get my totals right.

loopy I think quite a few of us have actually found that WW has taught us something about what we eat. I know it allows you to eat treats etc and in theory you could use all your points on crap which isn't ideal, but most of us gold members(i think) and many who are nearly there or been doing it for a while have learned what choices are healthy, what portion sizes are healthy and realistic and that if you want to eat some cake or something then you can but you have to make some allowances somewhere else for it, wether that is more exercise or changing what you have for dinner that night. I think we all know that going back to old habits and eating lots of junk is not going to help us maintain our new weight but i do think that to some extent willpower does come into it and thinking which do i want more ?, to stay slim or to eat pizza and ice cream. SheepAreSuper · 17/06/2011 15:23

Hello.

I've been lurking on MN for a while and on this thread since Monday having started WW ProPoints.
I lost more than 6 stone in 2004 on the Discovery plan but over the years nearly 3 stone of that has crept back on through pigging out.

I went to meetings originally but can't make them regularly this time so have paid to follow the plan online. I've tried calorie counting and pointing on my own in the recent past so thought that by shelling out for 3 month upfront, my resolve would strengthen. So on Monday I was 11st 9.5lb. I've had a good week so far, used just one of my weekly points and have built up 15 activity points.

Hope it's OK that this has become a kind of virtual meeting for me with the wise words and success stories so I'll be checking in regularly.

vnmum · 17/06/2011 17:44

welcome sheep. I also did the discovery plan and then converted when they changed to propoints, i think a few of us did.

LolaLadybird · 17/06/2011 18:14

Haven't been on here since Tuesday so have caught up on reading but way too behind to name-check. Well done, however, to all the losers and commiserations to those who didn't but this week is a new week. Welcome also to the newbies.

Will just mention Loopy by name though - impressed that even though you'd gone renegade and were ashamed of actions, you lurked. When I go renegade, I can't even look at this thread - reminds me too much of what I shouldn't be doing, I need complete denial!! Grin

LoopyLa · 17/06/2011 18:27

Ha ha Lola I do know what you mean! I use denial in other parts of my life instead...like my overdraft healthy bank account & clothes/shoe/handbag shopping for essentials! Grin

I lurk when I know I being naughty because other people's triumphs remind me of what I can look forward to & re-motivate me :)

And vnmum thank you :) You have written down true words of wisdom & they absolutely make sense to me.

wizzler · 18/06/2011 08:55

Welcome MrsTerry... also Sheep. Welcome back Loopy!

Have being trying to track this week and it makes me realise how far I had gone wrong last week... I ate smarties, milka chocolate, maltesers, cake and lots of wine.. and said to myself each time " well,.. I have been good today"... I reckon I ate my weeklies 3 times! I totally agree with Vnmum.. I am not safe to be allowed off WW .. if I stop tracking I will balloon again.

LoopyLa · 18/06/2011 10:23

Happy to report that I have lost 1lb!!!

This girl is gonna keep tracking like the devil & not lose sight of the slimmer, happy, healthier me! No sirree!

Happy Saturday everyone :)

(I've been so bad that I looked back on my weight tracker to see when I last lost weight which was....the 9th April!?!!! How nice of me that I've given those folks at WW 2 months dosh needlessly Hmm Talk about perspective!)

vnmum · 18/06/2011 14:24

well done loopy
wizzler i have also not tracked for a number of weeks when we moved house, and old habits did creep in. i put on about 7lbs but i realised it was not the way i wanted to go and just got back on track. I have lost those 7lbs again but i also know that that i will never be able to leave WW behind me even if i do understand about making the right choices and balancing out the bad ones

nikosmum2010 · 18/06/2011 14:58

hi NM

How does pro points work. Thinking of joining WW.

herdingcats · 18/06/2011 15:48

Hello all newcomers. Smile
I'm now on ultra good behaviour as we went to my DH works summer ball last night and I have now tracked yesterday ShockShockShock 80PP oouuuccchhh!!!!!
I will be a definate gain at WI next week. Oh well back on track now will just have to bite the bullet and not get disheartened by 1 day of bad behaviour.
Smoeone said about the WW site ,I too had a right palaver with it wanting me to update stuff. Was there for 20 minutes going round and round in circles.ending up deleting all quick added foods and redoing about 3days to correct the PP totals. Then yesterday it would not save anythingAngry

vnmum · 18/06/2011 16:50

Glad you had a good time at the summer ball herding they always seem to put on a good spread don't they, oh and reasonably priced alcohol (unless they decide to have it in a hotel instead of the mess)

nikosmum PP works by you being allocated a certain number of points a day plus an extra 49 to spread over the week if you need them for nights out etc. Each food has a points value and you just work out your points value for each meal and snack. Fruit and most veg are 0pp. It encourages a low fat, high fibre diet really but you can effectively eat what you like aslong as you stay within your points.

housemum · 18/06/2011 17:47

Hi nikosmum I just joined a couple of weeks ago, so it's very early days but the Propoints are relatively easy to get the hang of, especially if you use either the online Weightwatchers or buy the monthly pass to meetings which gives you online access as well - much easier than fiddling about with charts/books.

The thing with WW is that you can eat anything you like, so long as you check and track the number of points. For instance, I made a favourite recipe when I had friends over last week - I used the "recipe builder" on the website to enter all the ingredients, and it told me how many WW propoints per serving. Other diet plans are more restrictive, as they generally only work while you eat what they tell you to, whereas WW seems to be getting you in the habit of making healthier choices based on what you would normall eat. You can type in just about any type of food and find a points value. Obviously, to get the most food for your points and feel more full it works best to use the meals from the WW site or cookbooks, or bulk up your existing meals with more "free" vegetables.

If you have an iPhone there is an app to check and track your points anywhere - I love it!

PumpkinBones · 18/06/2011 22:24

Hello all,

I did WW at the beginning of last year, lost a stone (had more to lose as post baby weight) but somehow it tailed off...just rejoined online, didn't realise they'd changed to pro-points and was excited to see I had 29 a day! Oh dear...although I am really pleased that fruit and most veg are 0, as I seem to remember a lot of fruit had points on the old system?

I'm now 11.3 and my target is 9.9; I'm 5ft 4 with a small build and all my weight goes round my middle, so really can't carry it off. If only it went on my boobs...!

Just wanted to say hello, doing it online and alone it's nice to have other people's experiences!

vnmum · 18/06/2011 22:43

welcome pumpkin. I like propoints so much better than the discovery plan and once you get the hang of it, it is great

herdingcats · 19/06/2011 10:17

vnmum- that was the problem alcohol was included Shock in the ticket.
D day will be Wednesday!!
