LolaLadybird · 26/05/2011 21:10

Haven't been on here since Tuesday and have got v behind so no name-checking tonight apart from saying a huge congratulations to Shoulders - absolutely fantastic and well done you.

Well done also to everyone else who's lost this week.

Loving the new recipe thread - inspired idea.

IHeartIona · 26/05/2011 21:16

I'm also really behind with this thread, a week and an awful lot of posts! Well done to everyone who has lost this week.
I lost 2 lb tonight, 3.5 to go to get to goal!!
Tried two nice recipes from Seriously Satisfying book this week- butternut squash bake, I used lean beef mince not quorn, and is is basically a lasagne using BNS instead of lasagne sheets for the layers; and Spanish chicken with peppers, with 5 whole peppers in it plus tomatoes, and drumsticks and chicken thigh fillets, both skinless, very tasty and filling.
Have a good weekend everyone!

SpringFollows · 27/05/2011 03:51

I have been thinking about getting thae Seriously Satisfying book, IHeart . Those recipes sound good, shall certainly buy next week!

vnmum · 27/05/2011 07:58

well done iona
does anyone have any recipes for frittata? i am wanting new lunch/picnic ideas. If so could you post it on the recipe thread, thanks

hmc · 27/05/2011 10:02

Hope the weather is kind to you whilst you are camping herding

Congrats on 2lb lost Iheart

Don't know when I'll post again because have intermittent fault on BT line which they have been to repair once and managed to botch! - so intermittently I have Broadband and a landline and intermittently I am in a communications wasteland! Have good weekends all

mistlethrush · 27/05/2011 11:00

Vnmum - when I cook fritata...
I fry some onions and a bit of garlic (if you have a good frying pan you don't actually need hardly any oil) then throw in some peppers cut into thin slices, and cook just a little, meanwhile cutting up some precooked potatoes into slices - if you wanted to reduce points you could use new potatoes - or even replace with butternut squash cubes - add some salt and pepper to beaten eggs and poor over, reduce heat a lot so that it cooks much more slowly. If you have a pan that can go in the oven half way through to cook the top, do that. If you don't, put plate over frying pan and turn them both over, then slide the omelette back into the pan so that the top is underneath. Probably takes 15 - 30 mins to cook depending on how thick you do it.

Other things you can add: tomatoes; peas; sweetcorn; herbs (in fact, a herb laden one just with the potato is nice if you serve with plenty of veg or salad)

vnmum · 27/05/2011 11:24

thanks mistle sounds yum

vanimal · 27/05/2011 14:49

Hi all, I have been doing WW for 2 weeks now, keeping to points, tracking everything, even fruit in case it adds up to something.

First week - ate all my weeklies, even though I felt I didn't need all of them (used them on treats mostly) - lost ZERO weight.

This week, I tracked again, ate half of my weekly, and again have lost NOTHING.

I don't want to give up, I desperately want to lose a stone, but I honestly do not know where I am going wrong. I am weighing cereal, everything else is tracked (e.g. slices of bread). I was snacking on fruit between meals, but have also been cutting this down this week just in case.

I have done the old points system before and succesfully lost 2 stone of baby weight on it. On PP I definitely feel fuller and don't struggle like I did on the old points, but I am tempted to go back to it.

Had a cheese sandwich for lunch because I was so annoyed (and tracked it!), I really want to do this!

Any ideas on what might help? I am on 29PP daily.

IHeartIona · 27/05/2011 14:58

Hi vanimal, do you do any exercise as well? did your leader have any ideas, it might be worth showing her your tracker to see if you are missing anything, even something small adds up. do you weigh your carbs and protein too?
well done on starting WW, it must be really disheartening not to lose in your first 2 weeks.
is your TOTM due by any chance? sometimes that causes people on here to retain water, so you could get a really good loss next week.
Good luck and hope that helps slightly, sorry if it doesn't!

vanimal · 27/05/2011 15:28

Hello IHeartIona, I don't really exercise Blush apart from walking my DDs to nursery (in a pushchair). I go to Zumba classes once every couple of weeks and that's it.

I am doing WW online, so I don't have a leader to show this to.

I have been weighing potatoes etc, everything else is already on the tracker (eg, a slice of bread or half a can of something). But even when I only use half of my weeklies (so any shortfall in pointing could be covered by this), it still doesn't seem to be working?

TOTM isn't for another 2 weeks.

mistlethrush · 27/05/2011 15:30

Vanimal - I find that I have to be careful what carbs I use my points on - for instance I've had only six slices of bread over the last 4 weeks. And I know that I have to be careful about bananas. Usually if I spend more points on things that are not carbs, I'm better - although I do get a good fix in the morning with my meusli.

IHeartIona · 27/05/2011 16:03

I don't do much either vanimal - no need to be embarassed!
it sounds like you are doing everything right. you are not eating more than 3-5 portions of fruit a day are you?
hopefully someone else will be along soon with more useful tips, like mistlethrush.

mistlethrush · 27/05/2011 16:08

(sorry!) I don't use any of my weeklies - I dipped in last week and didn't have a good week even though it was only a tiny dip.

And try swapping things for a lower GI version - ie swap potatoes for sweet potatoes or new potatoes, white bread for brown etc.

wizzler · 27/05/2011 16:29

Vanimal... I found if I used my weeklies much at all I didnt lose weight.
Vnmum.. there is a good frittata recipie on ww website.. using aubergine and courgette, onion and garlic

vanimal · 27/05/2011 19:36

I have been eating lots of fruit - around 5-7 portions, could that be it? Not too many bananas, mostly apples, satsumas and strawberries.

I will cut down on fruit and not go into my weeklies and see if that helps.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 28/05/2011 08:16

Vanimal I limit myself to 2 or 3 portions of fruit a day and go very easy on bananas. Also I have increased my protein portions whilst reducing carbs and don't eat bread at all. I am able to eat my weeklies but tend to do so Thur-Sun then stick to dailies Mon-Wed for a Thursday morning weigh in. I've found I don't lose so well if I eat the same amount each day , my body responds better if I have a couple of high point days over the weekend. Everyone is different though, hang in there, it will come off.

vnmum · 28/05/2011 14:08

Hi all, well i have just been out for my first run in 5 weeks since my asthma problems and i managed to do 1.8 miles in 19.30 mins. I am well pleased, i didn't need to walk and i didn't need my inhaler. I am very motivated now to do more exercise this week

HaughtyChuckle · 28/05/2011 16:20

How is all??

IHeartIona · 28/05/2011 16:52

Well done vnmum that is great you've been able to run again.
Haughty hope it was tasty

herdingcats · 28/05/2011 17:31

Hello everyone Smile
We have arrived in a very windy/ cloudy and cool Isle of Wight. Hope for some improvement in the weather.
Doing well to stay on track so far ,only used dailies + 3 acitivity PP in last couple of days. Also found a meeting I can go to just to make sure I behave . Got WIFI on campsite so at least I can keep a check more easily . Fingers crossed.
Hope you all have a good week .

LolaLadybird · 28/05/2011 19:10

Very impressed at your dedication Herding. I'd have been very tempted to go renegade!! Grin

androbbob · 28/05/2011 22:43

Quick pop in here - stalling at the moment on the weightloss (still) but onwards!

vnmum - so pleased you got back running! I too went out for a run on Fri evening - dropped DD at Brownies and left car there and then did a bit of my usual run and then added a bit on the end. Ended up being out an hour!! Ran most of it but struggled wih foot pain for a section. Came home and measured it on Mapmyrun and it was 6.3km so I was well pleased with myself! Planning to do it twice this week!

Going to be a tough week as we are all off on holiday from work and school - not planning on going anywhere, but will need to be careful with the food.

Ruprekt · 28/05/2011 22:49

Heeeeeeeelp!

I have totally lost my motivation and dont know how to get it back.

Please help.

vnmum · 28/05/2011 23:14

androbbob you'll be doing 10k in no time Smile. I have actually decided not to use the c25k program anymore and to just go out and keep adding a bit extra on each time. I'm not sure how i'll manage to get out this week with the kids off school but i am planning on getting up early and going before DH has to go to work otherwise i will have to take both kids with me in the bike trailer/jogger and with a 5yo and 3yo, it is not light, lol

ruprekt is there an old photo of your self you can use as motivation or a specific time you would like to be slimmer for, and aim for that?

My DH's work mess do in july is going to be a vegas theme night so i am looking for ideas of what fancy dress to wear. I was thinking of going as a gladiator from ceasers palace, and all the outfits i have seen are very short so my aim is to lose as much as i can by then but also tone up, especially the legs. any other suggestions for outfits greatly received
