hmc well done WI day buddy - where is carey, she WIs today too, doesn't she - will she be expelled for losing too much weight on her new boyfriend diet?! Grin I can't wait to find out...

androbbob as you asked so nicely here are my top tips... Grin

Track Track Track don't fudge it, you're only cheating yourself.
have a RL WI buddy if possible, as having someone you have to confess to makes you think a bit more before you eat it.
buy a sharpie marker, work out points of shopping as you put it away, write PP value on packet. particularly helpful if you have things in for other family members to eat - puts you off a packet of walkers crisps if they have 4pp written on them!
try out new things as much as possible. if you eat the same thing every day you'll get bored and give up.
shopping online helped me, as stopped me impulse buying, and reduced my bills too!
WW rich toffee bars are very good and will satisfy a deep seated chocolate craving. Equally a meringue nest with total 0% greek yogurt and berries is a fab pudding for 2 pp.
keep lots of fruit in the house. Eat it.
fill your plate up with salad. makes a smaller portion than you have been used to look less lonely on the plate.
WEIGH CARBS. I am a carbaholic and portion control was key for me. I intend to keep weighing carbs to stop the weight creeping back on.

How's that?

herdingcats · 25/05/2011 21:11

Hi everyone Smile
Just back from WI and I feel a bit Hmm as I STS this week. Worried now as I'm off camping during half term and feel I will not be able to get back on track easily. Don't know whereI have gone wrong, because I track everything ! I suppose I feel worse as lady I go with has lost 18 in 5 weeks and is now at goal.
Shoulders -so pleased for you , it must be a great feeling.
Also pre-occupied thinking about my dear friends DH, he is so very ill. He has had a major stroke and they have 4 children. She has been on MN for a long time too. Sad

Vajazzler · 25/05/2011 21:38

Thanks everyone for making me feel welcome Smile
I read the recipe for JoJo's mushroom/leek/philly sauce and it sounds delish. I am going to make it tomorrow for dinner. Would it be too cheeky of me to ask everyone their favourite low pp meals? I am currently existing on salads as i just dont know where to start!
Herding, sorry to hear about your friends dh. Hope he recovers asap.

I wish I could keep up with this thread, I keep missing loads and am rarely on the PC atm, it's hard to keep up in my phone. Will try to sit down properly soon and see how everyone is doing.

Can see congratulations are in order big time for Shoulders

Just wanted to report back after my hypnotherapy session yesterday. It was the second and he 'fitted' the gastric band. Did a hypnosis session before it about eating healthy food and smaller portions. Then I watched a short film where it showed a gastric band being inserted and how they alter the tightness using saline, was quite interesting. Then had more hypnosis which started with me being in a garden. He then told me I was walking down a gravel path to an old building which was a modern hospital inside . Went through the whole scenario of me arriving, checking in at reception, going to room, getting into gown, anaethetist coming for discussion , blood pressure etc, going into theatre, injection and so on. I was aware of sounds in the background which was a tape of general hospital noise and he sprayed something which made it smell like theatre. Sounds weird but at the time I really felt like I was there, remembered a lot if the details of when I had my c/section which is only op I've had. Went home feeling very chilled out, a friend rang and said how relaxed I sounded.

At some spaghetti bolognese for tea and didn't feel any different but had a cracker with philly slightly later and found I felt very very full. Today I've had that full feeling after eating too, much quicker than usual and am feeling full for longer - am still feeling very full now after eating tea at 5.30. Still counting points as don't want to eat too little which I think there could be a risk and don't want to go down that road. Wouldn't have paid full price but £50 for two 1.5 hour sessions which were very relaxing, plus a CD was well worth it . It will be very interesting to see how weight loss does the next few weeks. Apologies for length of post, I've gone on a bit.

ShouldersBackAndNoBiscuits · 25/05/2011 21:46

Was thinking we should have a thread just for recipes so they don't get lost in the chat - we could double post them here and then in the new thread for a reference file - what do you think?

Willabywallaby · 25/05/2011 21:52

1lb off for me tonight. And my leader said as I'm 4.5lb from goal I'm in the free zone so phone up and let them know. I was a bit Hmm since I'm not at Goal, but did as I was told!

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 25/05/2011 21:52

Just at meeting, 2lb loss for me this week, takes me to 4.5 stone so very happy.

mistlethrush · 26/05/2011 09:25

Herding - sorry to hear about your friend - hope that all goes as well as it can do.

Re other person getting to goal - it happens, don't worry. I know that I have a lot more problem losing weight than some others - which is why I never use my whole allowance but stick to 29 - and don't use weeklies either. And still lose at a (currently moderate, but I am sure it will be dropping) gradual rate. And I do do excercise too. I swear if you had me and another person the same weight eating exactly the same and doing the same amount of exercise for a month, I would lose a lot less than them. The main thing is that its going down - even if you have a bit of a plateau for a little bit.

I will often cook, say, a big veg sauce to go with pasta - dh and ds have a reasonable portion of pasta - I might have a spoonful, but sometimes I'll just miss it out altogether - I've had carbs at breakfast (muesli) - for me they are something I need to be really careful about.

I like having soup for lunch too - I could be virtuous and cook some to bring, but I'm afraid I'm being a bit lazy and bringing a fresh soup - usually between 5 - 9 points (I don't buy the creamy ones!) and I find the ones with eg beans in particularly satisfying - although just tomato and basil does seem to keep me going fine.

vnmum · 26/05/2011 09:38

well done wynken

hmc · 26/05/2011 10:34

Excellent suggestion to have a thread for our recipes and meal suggestions Shoulders - it can be a pain scrolling back through 972 posts to find them sometimes! I've done a thread here - please feel free to use it if you want

ShouldersBackAndNoBiscuits · 26/05/2011 10:35

herding sorry to hear about your friend. I hope he makes a good recovery.

wynken WOW that's a great total loss, well done!

vnmum you know what they say about a 1/2 lb gain... that's just a good trip to the loo!

right I shall start a recipe files thread....

xposts hmc Grin

hmc · 26/05/2011 10:38

vnmum - have done a lot of running but am not expert. All I can tell you is what I would do. If I had a break of 4-5 weeks and wanted to resume I would merely tackle my usual distance - but at much more of a jog than a run, and wouldn't beat myself up if I had to stop and walk here and there. I have had breaks like that in the past and find that after my 2nd or 3rd run post resumption I've recovered my fitness levels

Well done on loss wynken and the hypnotherapy session sounds fascinating! Let us know if that full feeling continues...

Well done on loss willaby and well done on sts herding (nowt wrong with consolidating for a week)

jojo - am loving your curly wurly, magnum and wine diet!

hmc · 26/05/2011 10:39

I'm not feeling the frylite just becasue everything bloody sticks

HaughtyChuckle · 26/05/2011 11:34

Well done wynken

vnmum · 26/05/2011 12:08

thanks hmc i will give it a go. I was going to go this afternoon but its wet and windy here which is kind of putting me off (partly due to the fact i have no wet weather kit)

mistlethrush · 26/05/2011 12:31

Haughty - well done on the reserve! I have some v. good non-stick pans - I can dry fry an egg without it sticking - so also don't resort to frylight. If I do want just a spray I use my own oil spray though, filled with normal oil and not with all the additives and water. Although I do have a tendency to use a tsp of olive oil and make sure I including it in the calcs. Butter - depends what you spread it on lol! craker - yes - bread - possibly - wrap - no.

Wynken - well done - fantastic! (sorry, xposts earlier)
