Benbon Don't lose heart. If you changed, or significantly increased, exercise your muscles will probably be holding onto water & glycogen. I had an 'undeserved' STS the other week when I upped my lower body work, but showed a good loss the following week.

Spring Well done.

HeyH0 · 24/05/2011 18:32

Gah! Punctuation fail.

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/05/2011 18:35

well done spingfellows

benbon a loss is a loss - totally agree - a lb id good :)

OP posts:
Littlefish · 24/05/2011 19:52

Amazingly, I have lost half a pound Grin.

Well done Spring - that's great.

Benbon - well done on your loss. You might find that you lose more next week. Smile

ShouldersBackAndNoBiscuits · 24/05/2011 20:27

Hi everyone, some wise words and some good losses here today!

I am shattered after 4 days of toddler tantrums plus baby who has forgotten how to sleep all night with the added bonus of a DH on night shift. Have not resorted to chocolate though, and am keeping my fingers crossed for a good WI tomorrow. I'm 2.5 from goal... nearly there!

I am on my phone so can't name check, but will try and catch up tomorrow. I'm off to bed for an early night.

JoJoBaldwin · 24/05/2011 21:32

Wow Spring well done on 5lb off!
NoWay That's awful re horrid farty woman. I inadvertently did same once - was walking down the street with something nasty brewing after a night of beer and curry. Thought it was safe to let rip, then this couple walked round the corner and a gust of wind blew my fart into their faces! They were literally gagging as I shuffled past shame-faced.

I'm soooo snacky at the moment, can't stop eating! Been very active today and taking DD swimming tomorrow so hopefully limiting the damage a bit but not looking likely that I'll lose anything this week.

Still feel enormous, but tried on a few size 16 tops in Peacocks today and they all fit (would have had to be 18/20 in January). They all looked crap though. I can't find anything that suits my current shape (backfat/topheavy/apple). People keep going on about maxi dresses but they just make me look even more preggers.

I know what suits me - wrap dresses with a v-neckline and short sleeves that cover bingo wings. Anyone found anything like that on the high street? It seems to be strappy dresses everywhere which just totally look rubbish on me. Or a nice long top that can be worn with jeans or leggings. For some reason there seems to be a craze about putting elastic round the bottom of tops which makes me look even rounder.

Any fashion gurus out there?

LolaLadybird · 24/05/2011 22:05

JoJo - both White Stuff and Fat Face good for long tunic style tops and their style is fairly constant so can't see them going for the current craze of the elastic round the bottom. Think I might have seen them referred to 'balloon' tops somewhere - sounds about right given the resulting effect!!

wizzler · 24/05/2011 22:07

Well done Spring and Benbon,Littlefish all the other losers.
Good luck for tomorrow Shoulders.

I lost 1.5lb which I was pleased with... looks like you were all correct about my mini gain last week... ( no.. we don't need to hear Blondes story of how to lose 7lbs in the smallest room again)

Littlefish · 24/05/2011 22:28

Well done wizzler - great stuff. Smile

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/05/2011 22:30

littlefish and wizzler well done

it took GREAT time and effort to brew that turd!!!

OP posts:
HeyH0 · 24/05/2011 22:45

JoJo, Warehouse have some plain wrap dresses in at the moment, with sleeves of varying lengths. ( Example. They had a better selection of colours/styles in store. ) I think I saw some in Oasis as well, but if you want to spend a bit more Hobbs & Phase Eight have some too.

SpringFollows · 25/05/2011 06:31

Well done everyone. Well done benbon I also find that if i exercise hard my body hangs on a bit and then weight seems to come off in a rush the following week. I bet next week you will really see it. And a loss is not a gain.

I had dreams all night of putting the 5 pounds back on and on and on and on....

I have resolved to track like a dog this week.

have good days everyone!

JoJoBaldwin · 25/05/2011 07:27

Well done wizzler
Thanks for clothes heads up HeyHo and Lola. Darn it, don't have any of those shops near me unless I get train to Canterbury. That Warehouse dress looked nice!
Near me it's all M&S, Matalan, Next, Asda, Tesco, New Look, H&M, River Island, Dorothy Perkins etc rather than the nicer high st stores like Warehouse and Zara etc. They all seem to replicate the same styles from shop to shop, drives me nuts. It was worse last year when the "balloon" top seemed to be EVERYWHERE.
I suppose I am going to have to go shopping soon, need a new swimsuit too (aaargh).

Started off day with 30 min wii workout so mini-victory under belt already. Have a good day everyone.

tiredemma · 25/05/2011 09:12

Well I had weigh in last night- Stayed the same weight unfortunately but I was too disappointed with myself as i had anticipated putting weight on.

Had AF this week and i am on nights so really not surprised. Going to try harder this week.

NoWayNoHow · 25/05/2011 09:47

Morning!

loublou definitely take it as a compliment!

herding sorry to hear about op and also about your friend's DH - hope that he improves soon

hmc glad you're feeling better after your cold

benbon please, please, please don't be gutted! Firstly, a lb off is a good result. Secondly, if you upped your exercise this week, you need to remember 1lb of muscle is only a third of the volume of 1lb of fat, so it would be worthwhil taking your measurement too. I also buy into what other people said - sometime sit can also take a little while for your body to come around to a new regime. Just give it a chance Smile

hoops will look out for DS in M&S in the autumn!

spring woo hoo on your 5lbs! Well done! And well done littlefish and wizzler on your losses too.

shoulders sorry to hear about DC difficulties. I know it's not much consolation, but I'm also suffering through a new spate of tantrums from DS. I don't have sleep deprivation on top of it, though, so really sypathise.

JoJo wish I could help with the dresses, but not really been looking so do'nt know if I've seen anything supbconsciously, IYKWIM. I'm in Canterbury tomorrow morning, though, looking for a top for myself (the one I got yesterday is going back) so I'll keep an eye out for you!

Well, I'm officially 1pp OVER my weeklies, so just holding out for a sts at WI tomorrow morning (already have today's food planned out so that I don't go over 29). I have done quite a lot of walking and cycling this week, though, which I've not tracked, so hopefully won't register a gain. It doesn't feel like I've put on from last week's post-wedding debacle, if anything I feel a little trimmer, so cross all fingers and toes for me for tomorrow!

Good luck for all of you WI today!

NoWayNoHow · 25/05/2011 09:49

x-post tiredemma - a sts on an AF week when you were expecting a gain is a RESULT !!!! Well done!

hmc · 25/05/2011 10:11

Jojo - I used to live in Joe Browns clothes here - don't be put off by first few pages, some of it a bit colourful and garish but there is good stuff if you look

Well done on losses benbon, hoops, spring littlefish and Wizzler - and don't be disheartened by the 1lb off benbon - as others have said (a) it's a good result and (b) you might reap the true fruits of your efforts next week Smile

hmc · 25/05/2011 10:21

Fatal! - Having posted that link to Joe Browns I have just impulse purchased this! to wear over leggings. Dh will be pleased at me flexing the credit card again Blush

HaughtyChuckle · 25/05/2011 10:47

Shoulders hope everything settles for you and GL for tomorrow

TiredEmma glad you sts if you thought you would gain - stupid AF!

ShouldersBackAndNoBiscuits · 25/05/2011 12:21

Well....

I DID IT!

3.5lb off this week, which takes me to 9st 13lb, a lb under my goal weight! I am so, so delighted and was nearly in tears (managed to keep it together though!) My leader made me stand at the front and tell the meeting how I had done it and 2 of the ladies who I've got to know over the last few months came over to give me a hug at the end - so sweet! I have bought myself a WW selection box in celebration as I had a 95p off voucher with my monthly pass! (Which I have just cancelled - and the man on the phone line was so nice - he was all congratulatory and then refunded the whole of this months pass for me, even although it had already started!)

My total weight loss to get to goal was 53.5 lb in 19 weeks, and I haven't weighed this little in over 11 years. I feel great.

herdingcats you were looking for measurement stats I think? I did mine this morning...

waist- start 94cm goal 73cm (21cm loss)
upper arm - start 29.5cm goal 23cm (6.5cm loss)
thigh - start 60cm goal 43cm (17cm loss)
hips - start 109cm goal 87cm (22cm loss)

right, enough about me,
haughty have you tried having a toasted crumpet with your eggs at breakfast? they are 2PP and look like much more than 1/2 a slice of bread much more filling for 1PP extra.

spring brilliant loss - well done!
tiredemma nights are a killer for weightloss, it'll be better next week, a STS is a result in that scenario. (IIRC you work in hospital, so well done on avoiding the heinous amounts of snack food that are in every ward at night time, been there done that, eaten my weight in celebrations and minature heroes)
benbon 1lb is 1lb, and next week will be better after the exercise. don't give up!
jojo well done on the 30mins of exercise first thing in the morning!

Waves to everyone that I have missed out - DD2 has fallen asleep, so I am going to try and get 30 winks on the sofa while I can!

hmc · 25/05/2011 13:29

Well done Shoulders that is fantastic! Wine - brilliant achievement Grin. Impressive inch loss too! Very pleased for you.....of course, we will be needing some before and after photos now!

Haughty - agree, I last so much better on a protein breakfast too. Today it was a fried egg (with fry lite), grilled bacon x 2 slices, mushrooms and tomatoes and no hunger pangs until noon. After eating porridge for brekkie however, I am usually looking for something else to eat by 11 am

Littlefish · 25/05/2011 13:36

Wow Shoulders! CONGRATULATIONS

What fantastic news.

Are you feeling brave enough to post before and after photos?

Your measurements have inspired me to go away and measure myself. I might wait until after I get back from holiday though, otherwise I might depress myself with any gain over the next two weeks. Smile

cacklingdragon · 25/05/2011 13:57

super congrats Shoulders - am so pleased for you. Hope you take time to revel in your accomplishment and celebrate your hard work. you are an inspiration to us all :)

vnmum · 25/05/2011 13:58

well done littlefish and wizzler
massive congrats shoulders and yes, yes, you have to join the hall of fame for gold members with photos Smile
