Fantastic result, Shoulders! And so quickly too. :)

mistlethrush · 25/05/2011 14:41

Well done shoulders!

I lost 1lb this week - I knew the massive loss (for me) last week was a blip! However, its one more off - and I'm still very pleased overall with 11.5 over 5 weeks. Missing WI next week as we're away - but hopefully a week of reasonable activity will not set me back.

Littlefish · 25/05/2011 14:44

mistle - 11.5lbs in 5 weeks is great! Slow and steady is the way to do it when you have lots to lose. My average weight loss over the last 8 months is 1.6lbs per week.

NewChoos · 25/05/2011 14:47

Well done on the weightloss.

I have joined online this am so I can track strictly, didn't manage to stick to points on old system without tracking. I am so hungry (starving) bfing though...

I'm finding it difficult keeping up to date with thread due to 8 week old who only really sleeps in arms (off to post on bf board in a mo for advice!). So will read and post when I can.

Had a quick look at some favourite food points, am dismayed my beloved creme eggs are now 5 points!!!

mistlethrush · 25/05/2011 14:50

NewChoos - mine was just like that - first went down for a nap not in my arms (when at home) (except at night when he did have a basket then a cot) when he was 10mo - apparently if I was there, the only acceptable place to be was on my lap.

Littlefish - that's great though over that period - I know mine will slow - but its hardly been steady!!! However, I'm not going to complain and will simply keep at it.... still a long way to go but we will both get there!.

HaughtyChuckle · 25/05/2011 14:57

thanks for advice peeps

Well Done shoulders

Off the cinema tonight would I be okay with a large diet coke and nothing else?

NewChoos · 25/05/2011 15:03

mistlethrush - 10 months!! If DS follows same, I might put plans for ttc 2nd DC in New year on hold!

mistlethrush · 25/05/2011 15:08

Newchoos - needless to say, his first unaccompanied visit to nursery aged 6mo he spent 40mins of the 90mins asleep on a cushion at the side of the room. It was only if I was around. I had all these wonderful ideas of how I'd spend my maternity leave....

He would sleep in the car (going along) or in the pushchair (going along obviously - which meant more than just pavements)

But if we were home and he was fast asleep and I gave it a go putting him down, already with a nice warm blanket around him so no change in temp or anything, he would wake up immediately.

But he was wonderfully cuddly - so I'm not going to complain! Grin

NewChoos · 25/05/2011 15:14

:o We are going to buy him a vibrating chair thingy at the weekend to see if this helps. I am sure he knows I'm a soft touch re cuddles/sleeping, am older mum, so waited a long time for the cuddles :)

DS is exactly the same if I try and put him down, he immediately opens 1 eye as if to say 'you have got to be joking!'

mistlethrush · 25/05/2011 15:24

Vibrating chair thingies were, apparently, absolutely fine if you were awake and could see where mummy was or at least hear her. But perish the thought of going to sleep in one! It might do something sinister or worse - the only REALLY safe place is on mummy's lap.... Hmm

NewChoos · 25/05/2011 15:34

Ah well mummy has no problem being in sight of chair if she has arms free briefly! :) might even be able to pop to the powder room!

(Apologies for digressing from ww)

mistlethrush · 25/05/2011 15:41

I wish I'd looked into slings more - although he was such a lump I'd probably have ended up with a bad back if I'd done that....

vnmum · 25/05/2011 17:07

well done mistle

IHeartIona · 25/05/2011 17:22

Vajazzler · 25/05/2011 19:43

Hi all, i joined WW two weeks ago. Lost 2lbs first week then put on 3 this week Sad . My period arrived today, does anyone else find they gain weight before hand?
I have read all 12 pages of this instalment of your thread and you are all doing so well it gives me hope that i too can be successful. I weigh more than i am happy to admit and have approx 200lbs to lose. I dont know how on earth i am going to do this.

Littlefish · 25/05/2011 20:12

Vajazzler - welcome!

You'll do it the same way as we all do it - a little at a time. Set yourself small goals - a few pounds at a time.

Trust in the fact that if you follow the plan, you will lose weight.

Write down everything you eat. Be honest about what you eat. Even if you eat a whole massive bar of chocolate, write it down and adjust the rest of your day's food accordingly.

Learn to love soup.

Spend a few weeks trying out different combinations of proportions of carbs/proteins until you find the balance that keeps you fuller for longer.

Drink lots of water.

Yes, almost all of us find that we put on weight/stay the same in the week when our period is due/we have our period.

Mistle, cacklingdragon and I are going to be here for at least another year, so there'll be lots of company for you Smile.

Good luck.

hmc · 25/05/2011 20:16

2.5lbs off at tonight's WI Smile

androbbob · 25/05/2011 20:22

shoulders - well done!!!! You have joined that mini quiche of getting to goal, excellent work! have a Wine or two to celebrate! Grin Grin Envy Grin Grin

Just remind us all of all the hard work you have put in to get there - what is your top tip for the newbies?!!

vajazzler - as littlefish says - I too am here for the long haul - having a very stubbon time at the moment - I am at the comfortable weight for my body and I am struggling to get any momentum downwards. Been the same weight for 10 years give or take a stone and I am a stone lower than my highest but still need at least 3 stones off. I will get there - current schedule is August - not sure what year though! Grin

ShouldersBackAndNoBiscuits · 25/05/2011 20:27

Thanks everyone!

I should point out for those who don't know, I have been BF DD2 (who is 6 months today) so have had a little helper with my weight loss, hence the quite impressive weekly rate. I have also had an iron resolve and not much of a social life, so no alcohol and have barely dipped into my weeklies - just a few a week, and I was supposed to have extra BF points that I didn't often eat either!

I have found this thread a great help, thank you so much for all of your support. Is it OK if I still hang out with you? Grin

wizzler but of course - I think I might see if I can drop another few pounds, as there is still some unattractive jiggling in the stomach and thigh area that I would like to address!

I will have a think about putting photos up, haven't taken any yet since I got to goal, but have a big night out next weekend with my sister, so might get some then!

vajazzler welcome - you are going to do this, 1 lb at a time. every lb you lose is a step in the right direction. I found setting mini goals really helpful as then there wasn't this massive total to chip away at. What about promising yourself something nice when you lose your first 7lbs, or drop down a stone bracket, whichever comes first?

Had a fab tea tonight - warbuton's squarish wrap pizzas. yum
wrap (4pp), tomato puree (1 tbsp more than enough so 0pp), mushrooms, toms, 2 pps of low fat cheese and 2 pps of mozzarella light (didn't really need both but hey, I was splashing out!) 1 pp of diced chorizo. 8 minutes in oven. served with a salad for 9pp altogether.
Could easily have used just 2PP of cheese and no chorizo so could be a 6pp meal.

JoJoBaldwin · 25/05/2011 20:29

Well done hmc! At this rate you'll disappear!
Congratulations Shoulders very well deserved.
Vajazzler welcome to fellow TOWIE fan I hope (though currently enthralled with Geordie Shore). I gain at TOTM too. Came on today and thought ohhhhh, that's why I ate syrup sandwiches for the last 3 days and spent the morning stomping hormonally around the house.
NewChoos have you tried a swing? My daughter had the same thing, drove me nuts. I had a vibrating chair but it didn't do any good. But a baby swing was perfect - got her to sleep quickly (while I sang nursery rhymes etc , but still better than walking her up and down for ever). She wanted it on the highest swingiest setting too lol, which looks totally wrong when they are little - but trust em, they know what they like ( have to push her the highest and fastest even today in the park).

Hormonal stomping led to bit of a domestic sadly, and OH stomped off to the pub after giving me a strong piece of his mind. He's sort of right, but I sort of am too. I can't dispute that I am a moody beatch tho.

Anyway, had a mint magnum and a curly wurly and 2 glasses red wine. Only upside is I haven't eaten much else (apart from more chocolate I've forgotten about).
