Anyone else 5 foot 4, under 10 stone and want to lose just a little bit of weight?

I have looked on a few other threads but most people have got a couple of stone or more to lose so I feel a bit out of place.

Wanted to start a support and weigh in thread for people in a similar position to me who only want to lose about a stone.

Hello, Im 5' 3" and currently 9st 3lb. Id like to get to around 8st 8lb or so but seem to hang around at the 9st mark so I dont know how possible it is! I have a small waist at the moment but am holding onto the weight on my thighs.... grr

I like running, low carbing and the occasional shred. Oh and a lot of walking. I havent ran for a couple of weeks though, and have a 5k in 3 weeks. Im anxious and feeling so crappy today, really teary. I shouldve ran this morning but Im really not feeling myself, Im full or doubt and a bit lonely, could sit and have a cry Sad

I plan on just getting through today and feeling better tomorrow.

Mine is on my tum.

flootshoot · 16/05/2011 18:52

Can I join? Like moonmother I'm 4'11 and 9st 8lbs approx (scales broke so not sure exactly!) I want to get down to 9st initially and I'm doing 1200 caps a day on myfitnesspal. It's been about 3 weeks and I'd lost 3lbs at last weigh in on Friday. Have been pretty good - only a few blips and my net calories have never exceeded 1300.

Only thing is I've been a bit naughty today (def over on calories and not had dinner yet) and I'm deliberating whether to just say sod it and have a proper chocolate bar and a glass of wine seeing as how today's already a lost cause!

TheGoddessBlossom · 16/05/2011 19:20

Flootshoot same as you. Have about 300 cals left so am contemplating what to do over a glass of wine... Grin

flootshoot · 16/05/2011 19:37

Well surely one really bad day is better than several slightly bad ones? Cumulative effect and all that...

MordechaiVanunu · 16/05/2011 19:46

I'm 5ft 4 and about 9 stone 10ish, I'm happy and healthy at 9 stone, and a little porky at above 9 1/2 stone.

I'm cutting down on bread and carbs but not strictly dieting. I'm also walking every morning with a friend befre work.

I have large boobs and carry my weight around my arms and back (nice).

I have narrow hips, but hardly any waist which is about 28inches. Even at 9stone I carry the weight on my chest, boobs and back and just get skinnier hips bum and thighs. Still thats better then fat on top and fat on the bottom right??Grin

HerMajestiesSecretCervix · 17/05/2011 17:28

Hurrrah! Have snuck under 64 kilos (despite sinful weekend) and have stayed there a few days now! Need to keep up the good work and not drink wine this week.

TheGoddessBlossom · 17/05/2011 18:56

small bowl all bran

Pod restaurant superfood salad (OMG delicious and so good for you - I did add roasted salmon to it, but hey that's brain food)

Pot of fruit on train on way home

Some almonds with my white wine

Waiting for sausages with cauliflower and broccolli

1 tea, and water water water

Swam 50 lengths front crawl this morning Grin

handbagsandshoes · 17/05/2011 19:11

Feeling in the groove finally!
Now my problem is that I worry I will get too hard core and won't be able to keep it up. And since I am breastfeeding, and will be for the foreseeable future, I don't want to eat too little. I am aiming for slow and steady and maintainable (is that a word?)
It's portion sizes and second (and third) helpings that are my downfall - I actually like healthy food.
What is everyone actually eating in a day?

handbagsandshoes · 17/05/2011 19:12

P.S. hope you are feeling better Dillinger
Well done HerMajesty!

cremeeggsbenedict · 18/05/2011 12:08

Good morning, can I join in? I don't quite fit the criteria - am 5'5" and just over ten stone but need to get back to under 9 1/2. I managed to get to 9 1/2 last summer (from 12 1/2) but then reintroduced wine and cheese to my diet, whilst sensibly cutting out exercise and have ended up going back up to 10 stone 2. Yuck. None of my nice, new, thin clothes are comfortable and I sport a very fetching muffin top a lot of the time Sad

I've cut back the wine and cheese, am making healthy meals from scratch, am hitting the gym again and hopefully will make it back to under 9 1/2 by the end of June.

I think I've come to the realisation that I'll need to be careful and exercise for the rest of my days, as just taking my eye off the scales for a couple of months caused me to pork out.

sowhatshallido · 18/05/2011 12:33

Can i come in too?

Actually not so unhappy at the moment - I am 5.4 and a bit, varying between 9 and 8.12 for the last 2 weeks.
I was up to 9.11 a couple of months ago and lost easily by low carbing (not ultra strict) - basically cut out gluten - trial to help psoriasis - and so automatically no bread, pasta, gravy, cakes, biccies etc - and i lost the weight. (happy) Also dont have lunch or breakfast usually unless starving. Have main meal and snacks at night but lowish carb and no gluten.
I am bored off my cake hole with low carb at the mo though, and need easy interesting food!

I would like to be around the 8.11 - 8.13 mark and stay there! (ps i do no exercise except walk the dog, and drink like a fish)

dottyaboutstripes · 18/05/2011 12:36

I am 5ft 1 and 9st 3 this morning. Was 8st 9 before Christmas and feeling desperate to get back there. It felt a good weight for me. Struggling like mad though and not entirely sure why?

HerMajestiesSecretCervix · 19/05/2011 07:39

handbags - thank you.

dotty - I really struggled for a while and then realised (having downloaded My Fitness Pal) that my problem was portion size and pasta. I now have a different problem - lack of exercise and a glass of wine a day. Once I regulated portion size and cut back on pasta (the love of my life!) I shed 6 kilos in 3 months. I am finding the next 6 kilos a bit more challenging but shall prevail.

BTW Does anyone have any ideas for low carb veggie foods that are not mainly tofu or soy based? I think I need to low carb to shift the muffin top but am finding it hard to low carb as a veggie.

handbagsandshoes · 19/05/2011 08:54

I am just trying hard to watch my portion sizes as well as doing the "mores" (I find it easier to think in terms of what I can have rather than what I can't) ie More water, more veges, more fruit. Seems to be working. I sure feel a bit better and the scales have dropped to 64.4kgs from over 65! Yippee! And aside from the very annoying side effect of spending every five minutes on the loo - my skin looks very "plump"... long may it continue!
I have to work on the exercise side of things now.... more of it

sowhatshallido · 19/05/2011 09:13

I found this great website here which has low carb recipes in different categories - including veggie low carb recipes! (there seem to be a lot of cauliflower ones! )

foreverondiet · 19/05/2011 09:35

hermaj - quorn is the way to go, I eat it almost every day both the chicken style pieces and the mince! also other pulses - they have carbs in them but slow releasing and there is some protein to balance this.

foreverondiet · 19/05/2011 15:16

Just a thought for are less than a stone overweight....

It only takes an extra 100 calories each day to end up carrying an extra stone. 100 calories a day x 365 days = 36,500 calories over a year which is around an extra 10 pounds.

So once you've lost the weight you need to take 100 calories off your old WOE to maintain your weight or you'll just gain it again.

100 calories = 1 small glass wine or a 2 finger kitkat.

What will you cut down on?

froot · 20/05/2011 07:35

I'm 5 ft 4 , 43 and 9st. 12 . The lightest I have been in last 20 years (post kids) is 9.3 that was 12 years ago but that was toooo thin for me , since then I have been between ten n eleven stone . I think 9.7 would be great tho am off on a 2 wk cruise on 23 July and would love to be 9.4 or 5 to start that as am quite sure I will put on 10 lb !! Have been doing ww propoints and shred/ treadmill 5-6 times a week but I am now at a sticky point where I keep going up n down between 9.11 and 9.13 and not getting any lower - probably because this is quite a good maintainable weight for me - so I know it's going to be a struggle to get any lower....

froot · 20/05/2011 07:38

wine forever and gin I suppose .... But what a bore . I enjoy a drink in the evening 3-4 night a week ( mainly when not working the following day )

ln1981 · 20/05/2011 22:43

Hi, is it too late to join?

Hello can I join - 5ft 4 and 9 st 8. 9st is dream but unrealistic. 9 st 3 is better, but I just can't seem to get rid of those 5 lbs, despite loads of exercise. I know it's the wine that does it!

A1980 · 24/05/2011 00:45

I'm 5ft 4 and a bit and 10st 7lbs. I want to get back to 8.5 which is what I was at university but I think that's unrealistic.

I'd be happy with 9-9.5.

I joined a gym months ago and I go 4 times a week at least. It does nothing for the weight. I've toned up more but the weight has stayed the same Sad

nappyaddict · 24/05/2011 08:04

How is everyone doing? I have decided to do the race for life. It's only 5k and I can do it easily but am training to try and improve my time. I would have done the 10k but I only decided this week to do it and the race is 9th july so I don't think I have enough time to train to do the 10k without dying!

It's definitely given me a good reason to eat well and exercise regularly. Could be the reason some of you need to get going?

I want to get under 9 stone.
