Anyone else 5 foot 4, under 10 stone and want to lose just a little bit of weight?

I have looked on a few other threads but most people have got a couple of stone or more to lose so I feel a bit out of place.

Wanted to start a support and weigh in thread for people in a similar position to me who only want to lose about a stone.

a1980 no, gym alone will not result in weight loss, need to change your diet. Once you do start watching what you eat, regular exercising makes it easier to loose though. I now weigh what I did at school (5 foot 5, 8 stone 12) and I am 36 - haven't been under 9 stone since I was 16.

nappy go for the 5km - BUT if you can do 5km already you probably could do 10km by then without dying...

nappyaddict · 24/05/2011 11:02

Is 6 weeks enough time? I think I could do 10k, but not comfortably and I want to be able to do it fairly comfortably.

I know gym alone wont change weight but it DOES change body shape. I don't massively over eat either. My diet isn't poor.

My clothing has got much much looser so even though I haven't lost weight, I think I've built muscle which is denser than fat and all that.

Also I used to have a roll of fat under my bra line on my back and that has completely gone. My back is all lean now Grin

foreverondiet · 24/05/2011 12:01

nappy depends on the person, but I think if you can do 5km comfortably 6 weeks is enough to do 10km comfortably - if happy to train 3 - 4 times a week. Don't need to do full 10km at each training, instead to do some 5km runs incorporating some really fast short sprints. You don't do sprints when you do the longer distance, the sprints just provide interval training and get you fitter running wise.

Hi...can I join too?

Am 5'5" and weigh 10 stone. Put on 3 stone when pg with ds which I have lost, but need to work on my tummy as this is where all my weight is. Ideal weight (I think) would be 9 1/2 stone - I say I think as I've never been that light in my life Grin

nappy - I'm doing a 10k in 3 weeks time, and like you was able to comfortably do a 5k about a month ago. 6 weeks is def do-able if you can get out 2-3 times a week and build up a mile every 2 weeks. Good Luck.

I am in a major snit. Having been under 64 kilos for a week I have snuck up to 64.3 kilos. I am in a grumping over it but think it is probably PMT related as I have been in a very black mood all day, even before I got on the scales. Buggery.

pasqueflower · 24/05/2011 20:09

Could I join too please? 5 ft 3 in and currently 9st 3lb, would like to be 8st 12lb (I think - I'll know when my spare tyre has gone). I've registered on MyFitnessPal too. I used to hover around the 8-and-a-half-stone mark, though that's probably too skinny for me now I'm (very) late 40s.

My downfalls are friends and family who are great cooks, and wine! I've slipped into large portion sizes, and slipped out of enough regular exercise.

But, today I got up at 6.30am and did half an hour's swimming.

The big challenge will be this weekend when we go to a party where there'll be great food and lots of booze.

HerMajestiesSecretCervix · 26/05/2011 10:42

63.4 again. Phew.

JelliBelli · 26/05/2011 13:34

Nappy have you seen the bupa 10k programme? If you are able to start at week three or four with your existing level of fitness you should could be ready for the 10k......Grin

Hey everyone, i thought I'd join in. I'm 5ft 1 if i stand up properly and now 9 stone 3 having lost a stone with shredding/other JM torture and starting the c25k programme. I want to shift some more flab to reveal more of the toned muscles I've spent the last few months growing and to reduce my norks! I have no idea what my goal weight might be - I'm just going with my body and the time available to achieve!

nappyaddict · 26/05/2011 15:30

Does anyone want to do the bupa 10k programme with me?

I would like to join please.

I used to be in the TA outside work and was ninja fit. I went back after DS for a while but then it was just all too much (have day job as well)

Am 5'4" and somewhere between 9 and 10 stone. Feel just a bit podgy around the middle and there are a couple of pairs of trousers I would really like to be 'fitting' rather than 'tight'.

I'm sure what I eat is healthy but I need to not have second helpings now I'm not BF-ing and I need to do more in the gym and go out on the bike at the weekends.

Cat64 - have a look at www.myfitnesspal.com. Tis my bible - just register and enter absolutely everything you eat in it, along with exercise (even if it's housework, that still counts).

It's a revelation. You can search the database for calories, and lots of things you buy have calories on the packaging.

Just by tracking what you eat and drink, offset by exercise, you'll lose weight - promise!

i agree with pasqueflower since i registered with MFP, knowing that i have to go and log every single that passes my lips means i think twice (sometimes!) about what im eating. i also get to plan what treats i can have in the evening.

roulade · 31/05/2011 12:49

I just started using Food focus which sounds exactly like My Fitness Pal and I have managed to lose 3 1/2lbs in two weeks. I am trying to lose my last 9lb of baby weight (dd is 19 weeks) and a stone extra to get me down to 9 stone (am 5f 4). The site says that if I follow their calorie count (for me 1240) I should be there by 21 Aug. We shall see.......

handbagsandshoes · 01/06/2011 11:33

I'm still here - plodding along and shrinking albeit VERY slowly. Now 63.4kgs. Have hovered around this for a week or so. But I have had sick kids and am tired so feeling unmotivated.

Please give me some encouragement!!!!!

I want to be 63kgs and then aim for 61kgs and so on. Little drops but o-so-hard to do!
I am doing well not to snack, mostly. Am drinking lots of water but need to watch how much I put on my plate. I really have to work at my issues with feeling deprived! Exercise is tricky to fit in atm but am doing lots of housework and racing up and down the stairs during half term....

Any boosters appreciated - I'm having a feeling lardy day.

nappyaddict · 02/06/2011 22:55

I've been having lots of fruit salad. I find fruit straight out of the bowl a bit boring especially if it's not something a bit tropical or berries which are more expensive than your bog standard apples, pears and oranges. So I've been making some lovely fruit salad and eating it either on it's own or with a little bit of natural yoghurt. Makes it into a treat and I don't feel deprived not having a proper pudding or sweet snack. I've actually been looking forward to it and craving it!

Handbagsandshoes - You may find the Harcombe diet www.allaboutyou.com/health/the-harcombe-diet-eating-plan-49590 would help you with a boost.

It's restrictive, but Phase 1 is only 5 days and helps stop cravings. You will lose weight quickly and should not feel deprived as you can have unlimited amounts of the food you can eat.

Harcombe thinks exercising, while good for you, is not healthy if you're packing in loads of it just to lose weight. Housework is a great calorie burner, so don't feel that's not "exercise" - and you get a clean house at the end of it.

Good luck

hillyhilly · 07/06/2011 17:27

Hi, I'd like to join you too, I am 42, 5'4" and weigh 10st. I want to be 9.5 stone, preferably by the time I go on hols in 7.5 weeks (2 weeks in France tends to lead to at least 4lb on).
Last year, I got to 9.5stone relatively easily by exercising more, eating less etc etc, I then got a nasty virus which killed my appetite for several weeks leading me to get to 9st 4, which was actually too light for me, people were beginning to think I was ill.
This year I have been around the 10stone mark (quite a psychological barrier for me) since New Year and it just doesn't seem to shift.
My main issues are alcohol at the weekends, finishing my DS's leftovers and not taking as much exercise as I could pushing him in the buggy everywhere.
I have signed up to MFP today, am going to Zumba (my new love) tonight and planning a long swim on Thursday when DS back at nursery (the pool has been closed for a long time and I struggled to find anywhere else that fitted in with my schedule).
I'll keep an eye on here and am hoping for some inspiration and to be able to post positive results!

missytabitha · 07/06/2011 18:57

I would like to join too please. I was always about 8 stone 101bs and after bfing my second managed to stay there for about eight months after stopping. Now I am a year on and about 9 stone 101bs and rising! As I am 5ft 3inches I am not happy and really need some support. This thread 'leapt' out at me. Had success in past with Rosemary Conley and Paul Mckenna and leaning towards the latter this time due to the great success stories I have read on here and also it just feels less restrictive as you can in theory eat what you want. I am fine with eating less generally and can stick to a diet as not a big eater but my weaknesses are wine and chocolate. Oh, and I am the grand old age of 44......
