Anyone else 5 foot 4, under 10 stone and want to lose just a little bit of weight?

I have looked on a few other threads but most people have got a couple of stone or more to lose so I feel a bit out of place.

Wanted to start a support and weigh in thread for people in a similar position to me who only want to lose about a stone.

One week holiday=1 kg put on :(

HerMajestiesSecretCervix · 29/06/2011 14:39

I bloody loathe the end of term. How can I low carb when I am baking a cake nearly every day for some school thing or another? Grr.

63.4 kilos. Buggery. I might have to resort to the cheese greater!

Another lb gone! I am getting to know my body, the effects my cycle has on both my moods and my weight (AF arrived this morning and miraculously that stubborn pound disappeared!)
I think it is hard to accept that when you only have a few lb to lose, they are slow - the people that lost 4lb or more in the first week are those with stones to lose not lb (though that never happened to me even when I did have stones to lose), you just have to keep making small adjustments to your life, and trust yoursalf that if you are eating healthily, not drinking too much alcohol and taking exercise, it will eventually go the way you want it too, but its gonna take time - all this from somebody who was bemoaning lack of loss two days ago! Amazing what a good result on the scales will do for your mood!

Well done hilly.

I just need a good day on the scales I suppose....

Hello all! Goodness, it is hard trying to shave off the pounds when you only want to lose a little - and, in my case, now I'm well into middle age.

When I was younger I could cut back a bit and the weight would drop off - not so now. But it was easier to be active then.

Just over 2 weeks to go to my holiday and I'm thinking I may need to follow foreveronadiet's advice and do a low-carb diet for a few days to lose the weight around my waist - calorie counting with myfitnesspal has brought my weight down by 4lb, but I'm not sure if it has stalled. I'll try to be good this weekend and see what the scales say on Monday.

If I can lose another 2lb before holidays then I'll be very happy - but am determined to not come back having put it all back on.

cremeeggsbenedict · 02/07/2011 09:22

I haven't lost anything this week, but wasn't particularly good last weekend, so that probably explains it. I have, however lost 1 1/2 inches from my waist since I started being more sensible at the end of May, which isn't too shabby.

I think that hillyhilly and pasqueflower were right - when I lost 40lbs last year I lost 10 of them in the first three weeks. Now it takes me a month to lose a pound! It's very depressing, but I know that I am being healthy, which surely is what matters, and as a result my fat loss will follow. I also think I am building muscle again as I'm working hard in the gym, so mustn't obsess too much when it comes to numbers on the scales. Maybe if it doesn't go to pot this weekend (the hot weather and a girls night out meant I was a bit of a drunkard last weekend) I might see another lb go and get back into the 9s.

Hi all may I join you all to? I am 5ft 3 in and weighed 10st lbs 6 wks ago. I have been doing ww new plan and have lost 11lbs to get down to 9st 10lbs. I carry all of my weight on my bum and thighs and still feel I have around a stone to lose to feel comfortable. I run around 4 times a week usually around 15 miles over the 4 runs. I'm going away in 8 wks and would love to be 9st by then, I think 10lbs in 8 wks should be doable if I stick religiously to the plan :)

Whorulestheroost · 05/07/2011 08:27

Just to add I have been lingering between 10st and 10st 7 for years and had a huge mental block at the 10st Mark convincing myself I could not get into the 9s. It was all in my head though and I'm now aiming for my next mini goal of 9.7. Off for a run now :)

MissPenteuth · 08/07/2011 13:35

I've lost 1lb! Only 2lbs left to lose (and hoping it all comes off my tummy). I'm currently sticking to 1800 calories/day and doing a 25 minute workout mon-fri and running about 5 miles at the weekend. I finally feel like I might actually reach my goal weight.

foreverondiet · 08/07/2011 13:46

I am now 8 stone 9lbs. Body fat is 20% which I am pleased about, and TBH target now is in terms of body fat of 18% rather than actual weight. But not actually sure if its realistic to go any lower, already only having 1200-1400 a day (more at weekend) plus stacks of exercise (gym/30DS) and have only lost about 1lb in last month.

Miss Penteuth - I am very Envy that you are still loosing on 1800!

pasqueflower · 08/07/2011 23:03

Hurray! I'm down to the weight I had set myself - 8st 12lb - in fact a little below - with over a week to go until my holiday.

I went on the Harcombe diet for two days this week (low carb) which seemed to kick-start things again, then stuck religiously to myfitnesspal, but didn't count all the exercise - mfp definitely credits too many calories to exercise.

But I'm terrified I'm going to put some of it back on before the holiday, so intend sticking to the weight-loss regime until we go, then tracking while I'm away.

How do you know when you've reached goal though? I'm tempted to go a bit lower - I was 8st when I married 20 years ago - but at the age of 50 with a bmi of 22 (and a Wii-Fit age of 30!) I don't want to risk looking like I'm ill rather than slim.

MissPenteuth · 09/07/2011 10:25

Well done pasque! I think it's best to stop when you're happy with how you look and how your clothes fit, rather than going 100% by the scales. My current goal is a few lbs heavier than I was pre-pregnancy, but I can tell that if I lose much more I'll look too thin in some places.

forever I'm 8st 9lb now too :) Haven't measured my body in about 2 years, I think it was about 19% when I was thinnest. 20 would suit me now I think. Maybe I'll check next time I'm in Boots. And re: the calories; 2000/day keeps my weight steady, so I figure if I cut intake back by 200 and burn 200-250 through exercise, I should lose 1lb every 9 days or so. It's a slow way of doing it, but it seems to be working. TBH, 1200-1400 seems quite low if you're exercising lots too, but I'm sure you know your body :)

MissPenteuth · 09/07/2011 10:26

haven't measured my body fat* in about 2 years

MissPenteuth · 09/07/2011 10:26

oops, bolding fail.

Should read 'haven't measured my body fat in about 2 years'.

Annapic · 16/02/2017 17:20

I'm also 5'5" and 10 stone. Bit of a shocker for me as I was 9 stone for ages. I think it crept up at menopause and I only really noticed when clothes stopped fitting as I NEVER weighed myself and was one of those eat anything slim people when younger!

I hear it's more diet than exercise (well both of course) but am trying fast walking and yoga. Yoga won't shift weight but may help toning.
Just have to remember it's a long game and no quick fix
