I need to make a decision! Mountain Bike or 2 in 1 bike/cross trainer.
Both on Ebay.
Both around £50 at the moment.
I think i would use cross trainer more as i can do it in the evenings when DC are in bed and in the morning after school run.
A bike would be great for family cycle rides, although wouldn't go far with DC as DD2 is only 6 and can't go too far. Would i bother to go out on a ride when they are at school? I'm not sure i would.

Storage for cross trainer more difficult although no shed so bike left outside in all weather isn't good either!

Any ideas?

well, in our house our exercise bike was used mainly for hanging the ironing on Grin before being chucked in the garage. Saying that - dh uses it when it's raining and he can't go out on his bike.

If you wheeled the bike to school - could you just go straight from there (thats what I have been doing)

you could also get a cheapo plastic type cover for the bike to help protect it from the rain etc.

Also when you are out on the bike, you are not done exercising until you get home rather than just stopping cos you feel like it on the exercise bike Wink

the decision is obviously yours, but just thought I'd throw in some thought.

But further down the thread you did say you would love to go out on your bike everyday and maybe the fresh air would help your situation rather being stuck inside?

Shit, shit, shit! Sad
13st 2lbs this morn.

Furball · 14/06/2011 10:04

tortoise - it may be 'shit' - BUT you can't fix everything at once. you have a lot going on.

I think you should make that appointment now.........and then buy that blooming exercise? bike

It will all be start in the right direction. Smile

I've just done a 10 mile loop on my bike and it nearly killed me, but there was no giving in.........as I was miles from home. Exercise really does release those endorphines afterwards.

Tortoise · 14/06/2011 11:08

Sorry, x posts with you this morn. Smile
Found a new mountain bike on Ebay. Ends in half hour, on £55 at mo. And close enough for me to collect but will have to go by train!
In a good mood today, probably the sun.
Plus I have Drs appointment for Tuesday morning. Smile [scared emoticon!]

Good stuff tortoise - well done you Grin

the other thing about a normal bike is you can use it for transport as you don't drive? so the school run and things like that won't be so much oomph

Tortoise · 14/06/2011 11:25

Smile DC can all cycle to school, have done it before so could go from there. At the moment we walk with a friend because she gets anxious if she has to go alone! She will have to find someone else on the days i can cycle i guess!

Lawn is approx 26m long! So quite a big lawn lol and the grass was quite long. And the compost bit is at the bottom so lots of trips up and down to empty grass box. Grin

How are you feeling this morning tortoise

Just back from another 10 miler. Wasn't as grim as yesterday and didn't rain, although at one point I thought it would.

Tis still bloody hard work though and you soon realise the roads are not actually flat. [puff pant]

Tortoise · 16/06/2011 12:38

I'm ok thanks furball. Looking ahead to tomorrow when I pick my bike up!
Well done doing your bike ride again. Are you varying your route or doing same everyday?

OP posts:
Furball · 16/06/2011 13:05

Glad you are feeling better this morning Smile

I have started anew route which is a 10 mile loop. I did it the first time clockwise but the last 2 days I did it anti clockwise and IMHO a tougher ride.

Will be interested to know what it's doing in reducing my blood pressure, will get it checked again in a few weeks.

Furball · 17/06/2011 09:16

No cycling today - I've folk coming for lunch and need to tidy the house so I need to make quiches and cakes.
