furball It seems ok on the short ride I had yesterday. Something keeps going clonk and the seat went down too but should be able to tighten more. Hope to go for a ride with dc tomorrow.

Tortoise · 19/06/2011 18:31

Took dc on a bike ride today. We ended up doing 8 miles in all. Dc really enjoyed it. We went down an off road dead end track through big muddy puddles too. They got wet and muddy but loved it! We had to walk up one huge hill! May make that my route. I can aim to one day make it up the hill! Was hard enough to walk up.
Pizza and chips for tea, oops!

How's everyone else?

OP posts:
Tortoise · 20/06/2011 12:32

I did it! I went out on a bike ride!
I did 9.49 miles in just under 1 hr (according to endomondo app on my phone!)
Think I need a gel seat cover (ow my bum!) Maybe some gloves, handles make my hands sore. Rucksack so I can put my jumper or coat in if/when I get too hot and a bottle of water!! Smile

Cycled again tonight to take DDs to gymnastics. About another 2 miles. Up hill most of the way there which was done without stopping! Plus about 5 and half miles of walking.Smile

Drs in the morning. Scared but have a list written down to show the Dr.

Furball · 20/06/2011 20:40

Fab tortoise - tis good isn't it? and best of all 50 cals burnt per mile! i didn't go today as i was lazy i had to take my car in for services, but hope to go tomorrow.

I bought some cheapo padded shorts in aldi (I think you can get some £6 ones in sports direct if there's one near you?)

My dh is a cyclist and says gel saddles aren't up to much Hmm my arse tells me otherwise though.....it grimaces as soon as i sit on the saddle Grin But shorts do help. Apparently your cheeks need to toughen up Confused

good luck with the appointment tomorrow Smile

Tortoise · 20/06/2011 21:01

It is good.Smile I did consider padded shorts. Will have a look for some. Think part of the problem is the seat is quite small for my vast backside! My legs ache tonight and I am sooo tired!
Will let you know how drs goes tomorrow.

Smalline · 21/06/2011 07:28

I'll be thinking of you this morning tortoise.

Tortoise · 21/06/2011 11:00

Well, I'm back. Drs went ok. I shed a few tears but mainly kept them in! Refered for counselling and have tablets. So fingers crossed things will improve soon!

OP posts:
Tortoise · 21/06/2011 11:01

OP posts:
Furball · 21/06/2011 11:30

Glad you weren't fobbed off tortoise Smile

Sounds very positive and at least that ball is now rolling.

I went to pick my car up today so haven't been cycling yet, will go after lunch. Tis very windy though. - not to mention possible rain

Tortoise · 21/06/2011 11:56

Thanks furball.
Don't think I will have time for a proper ride today. Will cycle to school tonight for DS2's school play. Need to make the most of the next hour and tidy up a bit!

OP posts:
Smalline · 22/06/2011 07:49

Glad your appointment went well yesterday tortoise, yes sounds very positiveSmile.

Have been so busy last couple of weeks, have put our house up for sale, and have had quite a bit of interest, a few offers have been made which we have not accepted, cos they are at least £10,000 below the asking price. I'm finding it stressful just keeping the house tidy for potential viewers, especially with our little woofa having her first season as well.

Have been thinking of moving for some time, but now that we've actually put the house on the market am having second thoughts, the area we have been looking at has lovely houses (although smaller than what we are living in) but the schools are not that great, might have to look at another area, so much to think aboutHmm.

Furball · 23/06/2011 12:51

I've just had a lovely morning with a rather lovely fireman! (school trip) It's a real bind being asked to help at school all the time Wink

I've not been cycling this week, when I could go it absolutely pelted it down. I am hoping to go tomorrow though and I'm meeting friends in the next village for a coffee and said I'd bike it over.

Nice to see you smalline I did worry why you were unusually awol. good luck with whatever decision you come to house wise. It always seems such a faff to move, but I'm sure whatever/wherever you end up, it will have been the right choice. Smile

How is today tortoise?

Tortoise · 23/06/2011 13:21

Good luck with house sale/move Small.

Oooh *furball, firemen! Grin I'm ok thanks. Just got back from a bike ride. 9.35 miles in 58.07mins. Feeling nauseous but Dr did say that can be a side effect of the tablets for the first week.
My shoulders and bum hurt! Grin

OP posts:
Furball · 24/06/2011 11:49

just done a 10 miler - with a 90 min tea stop in the middle! Nice to be back in the saddle.

dh took my saddle off and put another one on which was even worse so I made him put me usual one back on. He must have adjusted it ever so slightly has absolutely no pain in me bum today!

Tortoise · 24/06/2011 22:03

Well done Furball.
I didn't get out for a ride today. Fingers crossed for better weather tomorrow, will take DD's out for a ride. They seem to enjoy it.

OP posts:
Tortoise · 25/06/2011 17:00

Just had a lovely cycle with DDs. Nearly 9 and a half miles. Found a small quiet playground halfway round and stopped for half an hour for a bit of play time! Took about 1hr 20. (plus half hr park time) Lovely way to spend a sunny afternoon.Smile

OP posts:
Furball · 26/06/2011 11:25

Brilliant tortoise - glad you are enjoying it.

How do you feel in yourself at the moment?

I've been out with ds and dh for a 5 miler before it gets tooooo hot.

I was VERY good food wise yesterday and hope to be today.........If it don't go in me lips then it won't go on me hips Grin

Tortoise · 26/06/2011 14:15

Feeling pretty good Furball. Even took DC out to the park today and played catch for nearly an hour then had ice creams. Then we went to a car boot sale down the road and spent too much money! Grin
Usually i would be thinking, 'i really can't be bothered to go out' but i was up and raring to go today. Smile

Its hot, hot, hot out there! Might have a water bomb fight later! Grin

OP posts:
Smalline · 26/06/2011 20:00

It is good to hear how you are feeling tortoise It sounds as if you and DC have had a lovely time together todaySmile. I love a car boot me, I used to go to one every week, am lucky if I get there one a year now.

Weighed myself yesterday and I have stayed the same again this week.

Tortoise · 26/06/2011 20:44

We have had a great day. I even enjoyed the water fight lol!
Will weigh myself in the morning. Smile

OP posts:
Tortoise · 28/06/2011 07:10

Aiming for a bike ride today.Smile

OP posts:
Furball · 28/06/2011 07:19

I've got someone popping in for a cuppa this morning so that will probably throw my ride.

I should go after they've gone, but we'll see.

am off for a 90 minute walk tonight, so not all bad.

yesterday I wasn't as good food wise as I wanted.
