HHY- I do hope you're ok today and dealing with things ok.
Blondes -my heart goes out to you on this difficult day. TC ,no words I can say will help but I will think of you < hugs> < flash >

SlateFloor · 12/05/2011 20:29

Shakti - I've found that pro points seems to be weighted in favour of a higher protein, lower carbs approach in the way that the points are allocated, or at least that's the way it works best for me. I've lost almost three and a half stone since October. Grin

hoops997 · 12/05/2011 20:41

Thinking of you BlOndes

androbbob · 12/05/2011 22:30

Evening all - hope you are all behaving and losing lodas (unlike me who is static!) Been for a 5.3k run this evening - kind of enjoyed it - big run is next week eek!

On a more sombre but interesting note - would you all pop over to this thread and see if you can help. It is a lovely idea and it would be nice if us WW'ers could help. littlefish - I noted you had spotted it.

Hope all ok with HHY's dad.

Welcome also to the newbies!

Too lazy to name check - but spotted vnmum is contemplating being a leader - go for it you will be fab! I also agree that a child friendly location such as a soft play or a place that has kids toys would be a fabby idea.

Bed for me now - tired legs!

vnmum · 12/05/2011 22:37

bumpsoon · 12/05/2011 22:49

NoWayNoHow · 13/05/2011 05:52

Hello all!

Just a quick pre-holiday note to say that i couldn't resist doing a post-TOTM WI this morning (after yesterday's rubbish AF-affected one), and ...

... drumroll ...

I'VE HIT GOAL!!!!!

2.5lbs off since yesterday morning (told you I retained water!) makes me 9st 7lbs and takes me to a loss of 1st 1lb since mid Jan, and a total loss after 2 years of very on and off WW of 2.5st.

Thank you all for being such an amazing support network!! xx

JoJoBaldwin · 13/05/2011 06:31

NoWay CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!

blondes hoping you get through today ok x

Ok, going to WI today - not even sure how long it's been. Probably 4 weeks. 3 of those have been abysmal in terms of pointing so best I can hope for is a sts. Probably gained. But just got to get on with it.

Yesterday was ok - 32 points which is good for hangover day. The temptation to eat piles of toast was very strong but I resisted!

Going to a friends house to make stuff out of boxes and yoghurt pots. There will be nibbles

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 13/05/2011 07:38

Wahey Noway, huge congratulations ! It's so lovely to see people reach goal on here.

Blondes you are in my thoughts.

I had a 'you're not going to lose too much weight, you look great now' moment in the playground yesterday. I appreciate the concern but I have 2 st 12.5lbs left to my target which is fractionally over the top of the BMI range for my height. It made me realise though about how losing weight moves the status quo that exists in friendships when you lose a reasonable amount of weight. I've been noticing it for a bit now and was discussing it with another friend who was the 'fat one' in a group of friends that all met when their oldest children (now 21) were at nursery. She's now much thinner and the one who was always the medium size one has been going on and on about how gaunt she's looking (she doesn't). It's quite subtle but I've noticed it with several friendships, all slightly differently depending on size of friend and how much issue they have with weight.

CareyFakes · 13/05/2011 07:49

Well done NoWay Great news, really stoked for you!

WynenBlynkenandNod I've had 3 comments now of the 'Oh you don't need to lose that much more' but to get to healthy on BMI I need to lose another 3st 9lbs. It's not vanity, it's health but I have also noticed a subtle shift in behaviour towards me.

I've always been the fat loud one, I'm still the overweight loud one but my determination to be at goal by next year shines through and I think it makes some a little nervous. It makes me nervous, I've always hidden behind my weight, I now get far more male attention and it scares the shit out of me, I hope by goal I won't feel a 'fraud' like a fat girl inside a healthy body iykwim?

Congrats to all the losers

JoJoBaldwin · 13/05/2011 07:52

Hi bumpsoon well done on the 5lb off! I don't go to meetings either but find this thread a great support (except for when I've gone awol).

My evening meals are often pretty simple cominations of a protein, some salad, and lots of veg. I keep battered haddock/cod fillets, quorn fillets, quorn sausages etc in the freezer and make sure i have lots of veg around. Butternut squash chips are a favourite 0pp accompaniment.

Prawn or quorn steak strips in a stir fry are also good, works out about 6pp with some noodles.

Curry with a ww naan bread instead of rice.

Mushroom omelette made with frylight and 2 eggs is only 4pp

prawns in a reduced fat seafood sauce wrapped in an iceberg lettuce leaf are a nice new summer discovery too

I'm always on the lookout for some new evening meals too, would love to see other people's staples!

vnmum · 13/05/2011 07:56

massive congratulations noway

JoJoBaldwin · 13/05/2011 08:03

re: people saying "oh you don't need to lose much more" etc - might not necessarily be nervousness/jealousy. It's the sort of thing I used to say, think I felt awkward about friends losing lots of weight if they were yo-yoers iyswim. I didn't want to be going on about how great they look without the weight only for them to pile it back on and be feeling crap again.

Difficult to explain really, but I hate it when people tell me how I've lost sooooo much weight and how good I look etc (not happened for a while now tho lol - maybe soon!) It just emphasises that feeling that you are being judged physically the whole time, which is what I hate about being overweight. I just want to get to "normal" where it isn't an issue anymore.

Now i don't comment on anyones weight, whether they have lost loads or not. I mentioned to my sister's boyfriend lately that she was looking really healthy and he was trying to get me to tell her because she had been working out and lost 2 stone - but I was so resistant to doing so because I just don't ever want her to feel judged on the weight issue, by me at least. So I just never ever mention it. But then people who have recently lost a lot get perturbed that maybe I haven't noticed lol!

CareyFakes · 13/05/2011 08:12

I like people noticing, it's a boost for me, gives me confidence, makes me realise I AM looking better, it matches the feelings in my head. I feel healthy, I'm looking healthier, but I can tell (the psychology student in me) when someone is being snide or shifting.

I always try and mention if someone looks nice clothes or physically because it's nice to have a compliment or 2 once in a while. BUT I can see where you're coming from JoJoBaldwin my sister is a serial yoyoer and is forever losing then gaining so I don't mention it as much round her. However, this is the first real diet I've done

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 13/05/2011 08:35

I think there's an element of people not wanting to mention they've noticed you've lost a lot of weight as they are worried about offending you as implication is you were huge before, which to be fair, I was and still am pretty big ! And I can definitely see that it would be difficult if someone piled the weight on after losing a lot. But I think we all have our roles in relationships and things like weight loss just alters them slightly. Most of the people I know where have only known me pretty much one size so I guess it's stranger for them to see me thinner compared to my friends who have seen me different sizes and are more used to it.

My Mum was quite difficult about my weight at the beginning as she's always maintained she can't lose weight, it's our genes. Now I'm down 61lbs this has shot a massive whole in her theory and at one point when I'd say I lost a pound this week or two pounds this week, she'd reply 'oh you cow' in a joking way, but I think actually it was how she felt as she knows her weight is having a really really bad affect on her health - she had podiatrist round yesterday who said she has peripheral aterial disease in her toes, she's still refusing to see the doctors but we can't take her anywhere as she can't walk.

Anyway, they can all get on with it, lose weight if they want to or not, I'm carrying on and will get there and there is no way I'm going back to how I was. Am off to Allotment to dig again today as found that brilliant exercise this week and will have the results of loads of lovely veg to boost weight loss if the slugs and birds don't munch them all.

hmc · 13/05/2011 11:08

Well done on losses Wynken, hoops, IheartIona, bumpson and especially NoWay for reaching goal!!!!!

Froot - as a fellow vain Hampshire dwelling 43 year old I am intrigued by the botox and fillers. Is the improvement on visible lines etc massive? Do you know if there are any significant side effects? (am being lazy - could google I s'pose)

Wynken - I agree with what you are saying. My friends are positive, encouraging and glad for me but tinged with a bit of envy for one or two of them ...which is a natural enough human emotion and I completely understand it. They often joke if we are eating lunch collectively "I'm in the zone of hmc"....or "I'm channelling hmc" and pretend to mirror what I choose to put on my plate...which is kind of funny...but meh! - the joke is wearing slightly thin now (excuse the pun)

I seem to get someone commenting on my weight loss every single day! - which has been going on for a couple of months now. We are quite a small village community so I would have thought everybody has had the opportunity to remark upon it by now, but still every single day. It's nice - don't get me wrong, but I am getting increasingly self conscious about it now. It's getting too much!

Whitershadeofpale · 13/05/2011 12:30

Well went to my first meeting last night. It was quite good, I've been given 31 points which is Ok. I kept a food diary for the past couple of days, when I thought I was eating really well, no shit and only fruit snacks but I worked out the points I'd had and was amazed to find I'd had 46 on one day and 60 on another!! So far today I've had 12 (had lunch and breakfast + included my milk for the day for teas and coffee) and I feel much fuller than last few days. It's made my realise that my thinking was quite off about where my calories were coming from.

I'll also be shredding so hoping to tone up as well as loose weight. the leader didn't mention activity pro points though so I was wondering if anyone could fill me in.

I had my judgy pants on though when lots of the women at the meeting brought their children with them and without exception every one of them was either eating chocolate or crisps and drinking fizzy drinks. Although I obviously won't expect anyone else at home to count points I'll definately be using what I learn to prepare better food for everyone. Every woman in my family for generations has struggled with their weight and I really want to break the cycle.

froot · 13/05/2011 13:55

Well done all you goal reachers!

I had prawn linguini last night, quick, delish and low points:
Boil linguini (50g each)
Chuck in mange tout for last 4 mins
Drain, keep 60 ml of the water
Stir in bag of king prawns (i used 250 gm cooked king prawns for 2)
Stir in 3/4 tub sweet chilly light philly and the 60ml water
Add S+P and chilli flakes (if you like it hot)

I reckon about 10 PP but feel free to correct me if that's not quite right.

[hmc] I had 2 deep grooves between my eyebrows which I have had botox in for about 3 years, they had completely gone after about 6 months. I only have it twice a year and haven't had any side effects, somehow it seems to lift my eyebrows a little too. I am not ' frozen', I can still move my forehead fine, I just cannot frown. The main risk (but pretty uncommon) I think is of getting a droopy brow for a few weeks, which can happen if the needle hits a nerve. The filler was hyaluronic acid which is a gel that absorbs water, hurt a lot and has left 2 tiny weeny bruises which dh hasn't spotted but eagle eyed dd clocked straight away, even tho I put makeup on them. They have softened my nose to mouth lines and 24 hours later I just look normal but with faint lines now not deep ones. Apparently it will last about 9 months. Don't know if will have the fillers again as was just a bit of an experiment and it is expensive, but will deffo not be stopping the botox! I dont believe in fancy face creams so I only buy dead cheap face cream from Superdrug, and what I save on face cream I make up for with the spend on the botox.

hmc · 13/05/2011 14:08

Hmmm - I have very deep trenches lines from nose to mouth. Am tempted. Please could you pm me and let me know where you go?

vnmum · 13/05/2011 14:13

froot and hmc it would appear you live in the next county to me Smile

JoJoBaldwin · 13/05/2011 14:44

froot thanks for recipe, the linguine sounds amazing.

It is with huge relief I can report a sts - this after 3 weeks of not tracking and eating rubbish and drinking too much due to lots of visitors over Easter, then being good(ish) since monday. Feel like I have got off lightly and so pleased not to have yo-yo'd back to my starting weight.

So now feel re-charged and ready to commit to a good week of proper tracking and exercise. Today has been slightly iffy as went for lunch at a friend's and it was all baguettes, butter and cheese. I left the cheese and just had baguette and butter, but I amagine that's quite pointy! Allowed 15 points for maybe 6-7 inches of baguette and butter? Oh and had 2 chocolates and a curly wurly. Going to have to be a VERY low point dinner tonight.

loubloutwinmum · 13/05/2011 17:08

Well done, some fab losses & massive congrats Noway on reaching goal - have amazing holiday!

Wynken I've had some odd remarks from friends - some have been lovely & supportive but others def been rather put out that I've shifted the weight! One friend who has always been thin (like size 6-8!) keeps going on about how "tiny" I am! Next to her I still look large & she is really over the top! I have another friend who has told me she is really peed off with me for losing weight as before we were a similar size! I've done it for me though so don't care what anyone else thinks!

My Mum took me to lunch today to congratulate me on getting to goal. Had a seafood risotto in Zizzi's & 1 piece of garlic & cheese flatbread! Not sure how to point it, thinking 16 for risotto & 6 for bread!!! Any ideas? Not got eat out guide!!

Thinking of you Blondes xx

wizzler · 13/05/2011 17:29

Well done Noway.. I love it when people get to goal.. gives me the boost to think I might get there too.

Blondes.. are you ok ? ( well obviously not, but ykwim hopefully)
