Hello all. Thanks for all your good wishes my for dad Smile

Saw him yesterday and he is actually looking a bit better already thank goodness. He has a drip in so is finally getting some fluids into him. He has had chest x-rays and an endoscopy today, so perhaps we will get the results when we visit later. Now the endoscopy is done, he should hopefully be given some food too as he hasn?t eaten for over 3 weeks. So feeling much more positive about things today.

blondes you need to be kind to yourself. It is still very early days and you have a lot to cope with so don?t want to be weighing yourself down with additional stuff like ww. Goodness, if anyone has an excuse to not track, I think it?s you! As everyone has said, do try to eat. Even if it is only soups, something nourishing will help you to keep going. Remember to drink too (good drinks though Wink ) Giving you a HUGE un-MN-like hug

hmc I absolutely agree that changes have to be permanent. I have lost all my weight before, got to goal then went back to eating how I used to and piled it all back on, and more. I realise this time that this is more than just a diet. It?s not a temporary fix. It has to be a lifelong eating plan and the small changes I am making have to become such a habit that once I am at goal they won?t be hard to keep up.

jojo I won?t boot you up the rear end this time, but I?m keeping my beady eye on you?.

Well have been this morning and taken out membership to the gym. Is £41 a month so will have to make sure I make the most of it and go as often as I can! Wasn?t chuffed that I had to also pay a £15 joining fee ? they kept that quiet! What a rip off. Anyway, it?s done. Went to a tone/step class which was good.

Off to get myself ready to go see my dad. Bbl. Be good!

IHeartIona · 09/05/2011 14:09

hello all, I have about ten pages to catch up on, so will be back tonight, in the meantime, hello!

androbbob · 09/05/2011 15:01

Lots of thinking going on here too - blondes Sad and HHY - hope your dad is on the mend.

debs - congrats to you - hope all goe well!

Can't fully namecheck as on library pc and its not on IE7 - duh!

JoJo - lets get back on track together!

I have started well today - took DC to school, left car at school and then walked to gym (1.5 miles), did an hour class and walked back to school to get DS from nursery via the shops! All well and good as it is now raiing and thundering1

Trying to MN and entertain DS at the library is not working - he is ok on the pc but still needs help - so keep losing my train of thought!

mistlethrush · 09/05/2011 15:12

Blondes its not surprising you're not feeling like eating and can quite understand why you're struggling... even if you had something like some smoothie in the fridge that you might be able to persuade yourself to have some othertime during the day apart from when you are managing to eat, that might be an easy option?

HighHeidYin · 09/05/2011 18:06

Thanks androb Smile Well done with all that exercise! Thunder here too.

Dad was very down this afternoon as the endoscopy has been put off until tomorrow. Which means another day of no food. Is very shaky and weak and kept saying that he just wanted to pack it all in Sad Once the test is done tomorrow they can finally start treating him so hopefully things we be looking up soon.

Just had ww meal and loads of steamed, fresh veg. Love, love asparagus! Am stuffed now!

Willabywallaby · 09/05/2011 19:28

Thinking of you HHY must be really hard with your Dad feeling so down, fingers crossed he gets something to eat tomorrow.

Blondes it's great to have you on here, but just eat what and when you can at the moment and look after yourself x.

So how do people namecheck? I assume from androbbob it's something to do with IE7, but I'm such a technophobe I'm not even sure what that is [stupid emoticon].

Bacon wrapped chicken with butternut squash and tomatoes tonight, one thing DH likes from WW recipes.

Did a fish pie last night, I thought it was OK DH had Hmm face on whilst eating. So may not get to do again.

JoJoBaldwin · 09/05/2011 20:11

Made a lentil, bns, aubergine and halloumi cheese bake for dinner, served with a ww naan and couple of prawn kebabs.

It was nomnomnom! And 8pp Smile

ShouldersBackAndNoBiscuits · 09/05/2011 20:35

Recipe please jojo, sounds lovely!

androbbob · 09/05/2011 21:15

Willaby - I name check by having MN open on the same page on two tabs on IE7. One I read from and the other I use to do my writings. It works for me, but others may have a better way. I cant do it on my phone at all!

I need to find somewhere cheap to go for a few days in the May BH week - kids off school and DH and me off work, so would like to go away for a few days. Not sure where - have seen mini breaks abroad for 3 and 4 nights - but may have to wait until the week before for prices to drop. I am also looking at the Lakes as well - but working out the same price! Center Parcs is outrageous at over £700 for a mid week break! Could do with some sun on these bones and a mess on the beach with the kids! Got nothing to wear though so all a bit dolly daydream!

Where has everyone gone? Am I missing something good on the telly??!!

CareyFakes · 09/05/2011 21:35

I'm knocking about, had Smoked Haddock Fillet, fresh veg and baby new potatoes in butter (clover lighter) and mint, was lush.

Just painted my nails ready for my coffee date with a man... and actual man I don't know, how grown up of me.

Might go to bed, need all the beauty I can get tbh.

NoWayNoHow · 09/05/2011 21:41

Just a quick one from me, mainly for androbob - what about a static caravan on a park on the Kent coast? Loads to do round here, I can vouch for it, and the weather is supposed to be good all the way through to June. Just spent the day on the beach with DS today, in fact.

Just a thought, use it, don't use it! Wink

Must dash, can't catch up, been researching for DH and desperately need some mindless TV if I can find some!

JoJoBaldwin · 09/05/2011 21:45

shoulders recipe for bns/aubergine bake (makes 4 big servings)

200g cooked green lentils (6pp)
1 medium bns chopped into roughly 1 inch cubes
ditto for 1 large aubergine
1 roughly chopped red onion
1 chopped clove of garlic
seasoning (I used a morroccan spice mill, but imagine tsp of cumin would be good too. It would still be tasty without spices tho)
120g light halloumi cheese (7pp)

Spray roasting tin and veg with frylight
Roast the bns/aubergine and onion on a lowish temp (150 degrees) for about 40 mins.

turn the veg a couple of times, respraying with frylight when you do so.
Add the chopped garlic for last 10 mins.

When veg is soft combine in a baking dish with the lentils and small amount of stock (1/2 tbsps)
Slice the halloumi cheese and cover the veg with it.
pop it under the grill for about 10 minutes or until cheese starts to brown.

Really really good with the ww mini naan breads (3pp and you can get packs of 4 from poundland). Fat free Greek yoghurt would be nice with it too.

I haven't cooked aubergine for years so very happy with my new recipe today! Was losing my mojo a bit and needed something new to try.

IHeartIona · 09/05/2011 21:51

hello again
welcome back Blondes - I missed you and it is good to see you back on here now I have managed to kick my arse back onto my plan. I hope you have a lot of support around you.
Congrats on your job NoWay! what are you doing?
Congrats debs on dc2 due in Jan! I hope it goes well (had a mc in the past myself)
Littlefish - so glad to hear your concert was a success!
HHY hope your dad is better soon
JoJo and androbbob - I'll get back on track with you too!
CareyFakes good luck for your date!

I was very bad and put on 3 lbs at weigh-in before last (3 weeks off tracking etc) then lost half a lb last Thursday. Managed to start tracking today again and hope to do well this week too fingers crossed (any loss welcome!).

I think I will have to track for life once I reach goal too - given my recent excesses and resulting gain.

JoJoBaldwin · 09/05/2011 21:51

androbob whereabouts are you? Have you considered camping? If you don't have the gear you could stay in a pod at grizedale in the Lakes for £30 a night www.grizedale-camping.co.uk/

I'm on the Kent coast too and the weather has been lovely lately, even today when everywhere else has been thunderstorms. May and June have been wonderful here the last few years, but can never tell what is ahead! How old are your children?

CareyFakes · 09/05/2011 22:03

Where on the Kent coast are you girls? We're off to Broadstairs (used to live there) at the end of May, really hope there is at least one good day to take DD down to the beach, and have a BBQ.

JoJoBaldwin great website, love the look of the pods, cheap too!

NoWayNoHow · 09/05/2011 23:52

We're in Faversham but DH works at new gallery in Margate, so we went down there for the afternoon. Beach was lovely and quiet today, had a blast. He loves the gallery too - great big learning studio for kids to do activities and crafts, etc.

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/05/2011 06:47

Carey.. is it your date tonight ? Good luck!

CareyFakes · 10/05/2011 08:02

It's a coffee date at 10:30am Blush. We spoke on the phone last night, hasn't got a weird voice so that's a start

Eeeekk

JoJoBaldwin · 10/05/2011 08:07

Carey I have my heart set on booking a pod for next years summer hols, just love the lakes and it's a cheap and novel way of doing it! I'm in Ramsgate so often go to Broadstairs, it's a lovely day out and the beach is great.
NoWay the Turner Centre is fab isn't it? I went for a job there too but fluffed the interview lol. We had a lovely day out there last week, wander round the sunday bazzar in the old town then stroll around Turner centre then crashed on the beach. The sea is lovely and warm at Margate because it is shallow for quite a way out - so great for kids swimming and paddling etc. Bank holidays make it packed though and bring out the "drink crate of beer on the beach while shouting at the kids" brigade so I tend to go mid-week. You can have a nice day out in Margate as long as you avoid the high street!
Iona yes, lets get back on track. You just feel rubbish after being silly. I'm basking in the after-glow of my first day not going over 29pp for at least 3 weeks - had to have a packet of crisps at 8pm to get me up to about 26pp in fact. Didn't manage to eat all 29 yesterday as was truly stuffed but I'm sure it will even out over the week.

Have a friend over for lunch with her kid to play. Will have my bns/aubergine bake again as i have all the ingredients chopped and ready for the oven.

Just have to motivate myself to do a bit of Davina/wii fit/Just dance before she comes! I'm sooooo lazy!

IHeartIona · 10/05/2011 09:34

go for it JoJo! I have just done the Shred after months, made me feel much better and energised

CareyFakes · 10/05/2011 09:40

Oooo JoJoBaldwin I used to live in Ramsgate, just near the town centre, also lived in Broadstairs, and Margate lol. I didn't like living there (I'm a Herts girl through and through) but I adore visiting there, beautiful.

LittleFriendSusan · 10/05/2011 12:37

Carey hope your coffee date went well!

And debs I forgot to say congratulations yesterday, but keeping everything crossed for you!

JoJo I love aubergine. I made the aubergine parmegiana from the GoodFood website last week (well actually DP did as was his night to cook) - used courgettes as well as aubergines and it was very nice and not too high in PP (6-8PP depending how much oil you use / which mozzarella, etc). Was delicious. Recipe here
Had aubergine, tomato & mozzarella pasta last night & it's red lentil & aubergine curry tonight (from an old WW book). Aubergines 50p in Asda on Sunday so I stocked up! Also veg moussaka low in points. Baba ganoush. Roast veg & couscous. Yum yum!

Well... I lost 2.5lb last night, yay! Almost back where I was 3 weeks ago now! Going out for posh meal on Friday so need to try to save as many points for that as I can. And will try to exercise every day again as think that made all the difference. Stats for the record:

Mon 26PP
Tue 31PP
Wed 37PP
Thurs 58PP
Fri 33PP
Sat 32PP
Sun 34PP

So all weeklies used and ate 2 of 29 activity points :)

mistlethrush · 10/05/2011 13:02

Littlefriend - well done! that's a good loss - is that fairly standard for you?

IHeartIona · 10/05/2011 13:39

LitteFriendSusan could you post the recipe for the lentil and aubergine curry please if you have a moment? sounds lovely
well done on your loss!
