Don't you believe some folk will try anything Wink

HighHeidYin · 07/05/2011 21:34

Right enough, I have put myself through the maple syrup diet so perhaps the piercing tongue diet is not so far fetched Grin

CareyFakes · 08/05/2011 07:50

When I had my tongue pierced back in the mid 90's I couldn't eat solids for ages, good method for a quick fix Wink

HighHeidYin · 08/05/2011 10:55

Ouch carey Did you liquidise everything? Liquidised shepherds pie doesnt sound very inviting somehow...

Upset today. My dad has been taken into hospital again this morning. He's really ill. Hasn't eaten for 3 weeks as his throat has closed up. They think the chrones has travelled up and has inflamed his throat.

Has been forcing himself to drink tiny amounts but was up through the night bringing up the small amounts he had managed to drink. Am sure they will admit him. They need to, he needs to be on a drip as he is so dehydrated and malnourished.

I really think he has just given up. though. He has lost the will to live as he has no quality of life. Is so awful seeing my dad, who was always so active and healthy, now so weak and just skin and bones. Hopefully will get to see him this afternoon. He isn't that old either - in his 70's. He should have years yet.

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/05/2011 11:49

HHY ouch at tonuge and sorry to hear about your dad :(

herdingcats · 08/05/2011 12:06

Carey- pierced tongue! Just the thought makes me shudder.
HHY - so sorry about your dear Dad, it is so hard when you see them suffering. Sad
BTW I broke my jaw when I was 12 and had all food liquidized, lost 1.5st in 6 weeks, very drastic ! Best food I had liquidized was apple pie and custard, tasted exactly the same. Worst anything with green veg in YUK

HighHeidYin · 08/05/2011 12:24

Thanks both.

Dad has been kept in, which is the best thing for him. Is on a drip to rehydrate him and they are doing x-rays of his chest this afternoon. Waiting to hear if I can visit. Feeling a bit better that they are looking after him and hopefully can treat him.

Yum applie pie and custard! Liquidised broccoli, eeuuuuw!

vnmum · 08/05/2011 14:04

hhy sorry to hear about your dad, hope you hear something soon

CareyFakes · 08/05/2011 17:06

Oh HHY hope he makes a speedy recovery and they are able to find out what's wrong, and put it right. 70 is no age!

My tongue swelled a little, should've seen my clitoris when I had that done twice Grin

NoseyNooNoo · 08/05/2011 17:37

Hi, I'm a newbie here. I've just started Pro-Points and am managing to bank quite a few Activity Points but I don't know how to swap them for food points. I am tracking them weekly - does this mean they only get swapped in the last day of the week?

TIA

herdingcats · 08/05/2011 17:57

Carey - you're scaring me now , all I can say you must be a hard woman Wink
NNN- you can opt on E-source to swap them first before your extra 49 ,or use those ,then activity points.
Click on go to my week- ProPoints tracker- settings. Then you can change how/when the points are used HTH Smile

wizzler · 08/05/2011 18:01

HHY: best wishes to your dad
Carey.. do you take all your rings out for WI?Grin

NoseyNooNoo · 08/05/2011 18:57

Thank you herdingcats - I hadn't realised! Have just changed it. It's nice to see the weekly points stay high.

SueSylvesterforPM · 08/05/2011 20:24

Good luck ladies for weigh ins tomoz

querie I had I spoon of mash 3 roasties 2 beef roasted steaks broccoli & carrots how many points do tou think It would have been?

I guestimated 12 points?

benbon · 08/05/2011 20:29

can anyone work out what about 100g egg fried rice, i x chicken satay on skewer and about 2 table spoons of roast pork chow mein from the chinese would be???

hmc · 08/05/2011 23:39

Working - I didn't say butchers sausages were white carbs ..I said that items in your food list were imo either too high in propoints (the sausages) and / or white carbs...(I was thinking of the baguette when I mentioned that). As it happens I think wholegrain carbs should be eaten in moderation too. I was trying to help but perhaps I should have soft soaped it to avoid causing offence?

I remain utterly convinced that without permanent changes in eating habits weight will creep back on - if that is something people want to run with then so be it, but tbh I personally am too old to regain the weight again and start all over

I didn't appreciate the Confused emoticon

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/05/2011 07:23

hmc i agree - its fairly easy to lose weight, but its the keeping it off thats hard

7years ago i lost 4 stone, kept it for for 5ish years, then 2stone crept on

lost 33lbs this time - need to do a bit of toning so will continue, but im not dieting as such at the moment as just cant becasue of dh :(

HHY hope your dad feels better soon
blondes you've just got to do whatever to keep on an even keel at the moment, don't be putting yourself under diet pressure x

The last 3 weeks have been terrible diet-wise. Just gave up completely and now feel dreadful, so trying to re-motivate myself. Been too scared to weigh myself, so planning to do a real push between now and friday and WI then.

Of course I have a potential eff up mid-week when it is OH's birthday - think I will get us a cupcake each with a candle instead of traditional mahoosive chocolate birthday cake. Will think of nice birthday meal that's not too bad for points and endeavour to stay off the booze!

Feel free to administer kick up arse ladies.

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/05/2011 09:54

im just not hungry, i force myself to eat every day at least one meal a day, but if i were pp, then prob eating maybe 20 a day

OP posts:
NoWayNoHow · 09/05/2011 10:00

Hi all. On phone so can't name check, sorry! Ate half my weeklies yesterday Blush so am going to stick to my 29 every day till WI on thurs in the hopes of losing just a smidgeon more before hols. Hope everyone is doing ok. Blondes thinking of u lots today, guy I know from school died tragically yesterday, far too many good souls being taken from us too early. HHY hope ur dad is doing ok Xx

Littlefish · 09/05/2011 10:47

Blondes, I'm thinking of you today too.

If you don't feel like eating, could you make some delicious soup and use butter to cook the veg in, or make a smoothie with full fat yoghurt. It might be easier than trying to force yourself to eat, but still get some good nutrition into you.

LittleFriendSusan · 09/05/2011 11:16

Morning everyone.

blondes last thing you need right now is to be worrying about WW too... know it's probably easier said than done, but do try to eat [big hugs to you - don't care if that's frowned upon on MN!]

HHY sorry to hear about your dad and hope you got to see him.

Agree about having to change habits but at the same time, it doesn't have to be all low fat spread and diet foods, etc. I think the key is everything in moderation - splurge every now and again by all means, but keep it generally healthy and watch the portion sizes.

I too have lost weight through WW before and put it all back on over a few years. But I dug out my old trackers when I started again this time, and my diet was appalling. Didn't realise how much I had changed my eating habits over the years, but it was quite shocking. Difference being, I had 2 children and learnt to cook! I honestly believe it will stay off this time... like hmc I really don't want to be going through all this again. My diet has been pretty healthy for a few years now, but my portion sizes were probably twice the size they should have been and I was doing no exercise. I figure if I stick to the principles I've been following on WW and keep up the exercise, it should be relatively easy to maintain. And I know if I gain more than say 2-3lbs, then I need to reign it in for a while (that was my problem this time, a couple of pounds became half a stone, then a stone, etc. And it was always... oh, I'll cut back next month, etc.)

WI tonight. I'm hoping to have lost the 2lb I gained over Easter, but we will see! Have eaten most dailies & all weeklies but earnt 29 activity points which I haven't touched. Exercised every day so will be disappointed if I haven't lost something...

JoJoBaldwin · 09/05/2011 12:57

Just got back from mega-shop of healthy stuff and thought I would share a "find".

Iceland's garlic and herb king prawn kebabs - 16 calories per kebab! Haven't pointed properly yet but going by the divide by 40 rule I reckon 2 kebabs will be one point. Just had 3 for lunch and they are seriously delicious - perfect for when you get an attack of the savoury nibbles I reckon!

JoJoBaldwin · 09/05/2011 13:19

Oh - I bought an aubergine too, in the spirit of varying the diet and trying new things.

Any ideas what to do with it? Grin

I used to love fried aubergine but obviously need something lower points as I seem to remember it just soaked up all the oil! I bought some light halloumi cheese to maybe go with it.

vnmum · 09/05/2011 13:22

Blondes i am also thinking of you today, try to focus on you and not worry about ww for the time being

I too agree that a permanent change to eating habits is required. Our old habits got us to start ww in the first place so if we don't change them we will be back starting it again a few years down the line
